Harry Kane's future has occasionally been the subject of speculation, with rumors linking him to a potential return to the Premier League or even a move elsewhere in Europe. However, after a sensational campaign with Bayern Munich that saw him lift major trophies, put together one of the greatest goal-scoring seasons in modern football, and firmly establish himself in the Ballon d'Or conversation, there appears to be little reason for the England captain to consider leaving. Former Chelsea ****** istant manager Jody Morris believes Kane is exactly where he should be and made a compelling case for both his future in Munich and his Ballon d'Or credentials.
"I don't see why Harry Kane would want to move. Bayern Munich is an amazing football club. He is in Ballon d'Or conversations while winning trophies. Unless he wanted a new family experience in Spain or wanted to come back to break the Premier League record, those would be the only things to pull him away," Morris told BOYLE Sports, who offer the latest football odds. "The level he performed at last year for Bayern was phenomenal. He never quite hit that same level in the World Cup, although his goal tally was decent. Vincent Kompany has been a great fit for him."
Morris raises valid points. Kane finally achieved what had eluded him for so much of his career by winning major silverware while continuing to produce elite individual numbers. Bayern Munich has given him a platform to compete for every trophy each season, and Kompany's attacking style has allowed Kane to thrive as both a scorer and creator. Unless Kane is motivated by personal milestones such as breaking the Premier League's all-time scoring record or experiencing a different league, there is little sporting incentive to leave.
Morris also believes Kane deserves football's highest individual honor.
"In my opinion, he should win the Ballon d'Or. He had the second-best goal-scoring season in history," said Morris. "How do you not win the Ballon d'Or with those numbers while winning trophies and going deep in a tournament with England?"

Along with the other preview series we're running here at Dawg Sports as fall practice looms, I thought it would be instructive to look at the ten best players the Red and Black will see this season. We begin with a Vandy defensive back who's going to have a lot on his shoulders this year.

Martel Hight, CB, Vanderbilt (vs. Vanderbilt, Oct. 3)
With Diego Pavia gone to the NFL, Vanderbilt's defense becomes the more proven side of the ball, and Hight is its anchor. In 2025 he led the SEC in interceptions among defensive players, finishing with four picks and 35 tackles despite Vanderbilt not placing any defenders on the All-SEC teams.
Hight has been a steady piece of the Vanderbilt secondary since his true freshman year, when he played in all 12 games and accounted for 38 tackles and an interception. As a sophomore he added 33 tackles, two interceptions, four passes defended, and a forced fumble, while also handling return duties. He was chosen to represent the program at SEC Media Days entering his senior season, a sign of the trust the staff has in his leadership as the Commodores transition to a new quarterback.
In 2025 the Commodore staff gave Hight a look at receiver, where he'd been a standout in high school. The move made sense with Diego Pavia at QB but question marks surrounding Vandy's receiving corps. Getting Hight, among the best athletes on the roster, more snaps to be explosiive made sense on paper.
On the field it was less of a winner. Hight was targeted just 11 times out of 55 offensive snaps, catching just 7 ***** and accounting for just 64 yards and no touchdowns. Hight played more than 10 offensive snaps in three of Vanderbilt's first four games, then never got that level of usage again. Just one throw went Hight's way after week four, as the staff seems to have realized his highest and best use is at corner.

Mortgage rates rose this week to the highest level in a year, mortgage buyer Freddie Mac said Thursday.
Freddie Mac's latest Primary Mortgage Market Survey, released Thursday, showed the average rate on the benchmark 30-year fixed mortgage climbed to 6.66% from last week's reading of 6.58%.
The average rate on a 30-year loan was 6.72% a year ago.

Chelsea Handler had one immediate question after seeing Joe Rogan placed at the top of Forbes' 2026 ranking of the highest-paid podcasters: who is paying him an estimated $82 million?
The comedian challenged the figure beneath an Instagram post promoting the list.

The $82 million figure is not a disclosed salary or a single payment from Spotify. It is Forbes' estimate of the pretax podcast-related earnings generated by Rogan or his business between June 2025 and June 2026.

The Mets and White Sox reportedly discussed a trade that would send Freddy Peralta to the South Side of Chicago. Michael Marino reports that White Sox prospects George Wolkow and Boston Smith were among the players discussed in the return. Marino also stated that the talks have stalled a bit, and the Mets are in discussions with other clubs as well.
Peralta, who came to the Mets in the offseason along with Tobias Myers from the Brewers in exchange for Brandon Sproat and Jett Williams, is in his age 30 season and has been a major disappointment for the Mets in his 22 starts with the club. He's set to start tonight in what is essentially a showcase, hoping to goose his trade value a bit in what is his likely final last Mets start.
Peralta is the owner of a 4.99 ERA and a 83 ERA+ over 113.2 innings. He's at the highest walk rate and lowest strikout rate since he's been a starter full time, but also has the highest BABIP against of his career, so luck may be a piece of his poor performance.
The two prospects mentioned in the report are both consensus top 2o prospects for the White Sox, with Woklov as the 15th best in their system by our sister site South Side Sox in their pre-season rankings. Smith didn't join the organization until a trade with the Nationals in late March, so he isn't ranked by South Side Sox, but the catching prospect was listed as their Minor League Player of the Month for July.

The Los Angeles Rams are going to be a problem this year, both on Sundays and in "Madden NFL 27". They're the highest-rated team in this year's edition of Madden, coming in with a 91 overall rating – three rating points better than every other team in football.
Their roster is loaded from top to bottom, as evidenced by the initial ratings for Madden 27. Matthew Stafford and Myles Garrett are both 99 overall, and Puka Nacua isn't far behind at 98 overall.

Detroit — The highest-ranked player at the Rocket Classic went low on Friday.
Cameron Young, No. 3 in the Official World Golf Ranking, came out blazing in the second round and shot a 9-under 61 to tie the course record and vault to the top of the leaderboard halfway through the final playing of the PGA Tour tournament at Detroit Golf Club.
Young opened with a first-nine 28, or 7 under, on the strength of six birdies in a row at one point. He even birdied the long, tough, par-4 17th, which yielded only five birdies in Round 1. Already a member of the exclusive 59 Club, he had thoughts of a double dip there until he grinded his way through the second nine, before rolling in a 20-footer for one more birdie at the par-4 eighth hole.
Young missed a 17-footer for birdie on his last hole, but it still was a clean, bogey-free card and Young, 29, who already has won twice this season including at The Players Championship, was at 10 under at the halfway point of the tournament. He was one shot ahead of first-round leader Peter Malnati.

PHILADELPHIA — Jalen Carter's record-setting contract pays him like the NFL's best defensive tackle without immediately placing a record burden on the Eagles' salary cap. Carter signed a four-year, $152 million extension that includes $40.8 million guaranteed at signing, according to Spotrac. Another $30 million becomes guaranteed next March, while the practical guarantee reaches approximately $106.8 million over four years.
The extension, which reportedly includes $160 million in incentives, keeps Carter under contract through the 2031 season. His $38 million average annual salary makes him the highest-paid defensive tackle in NFL history.
Philadelphia included five option bonuses and four void years in the structure. The option bonuses allow the Eagles to spread charges across multiple salary-cap seasons rather than absorbing the money immediately. The void years are accounting mechanisms and do not place Carter under contract beyond 2031. Carter's cap charge rises to $9.1 million in 2026, costing Philadelphia approximately $2.1 million in additional ****** e. The larger benefit arrives in 2027, when his $9.5 million charge represents approximately $17.6 million in savings compared with his previous fifth-year option figure.
His cap numbers then rise gradually: $15.5 million in 2028, $22.2 million in 2029, $29.4 million in 2030 and $26.2 million in 2031. The structure currently leaves a projected $68.1 million charge in 2032, the first void year. That figure is not likely to remain untouched. Philadelphia could extend Carter again, restructure later portions of the deal or manage the remaining charge through future cap transactions.
The contract reflects Howie Roseman's preference for securing cornerstone players early while pushing larger accounting costs into seasons when the NFL salary cap is expected to be higher.

On paper, the Los Angeles Rams appear to be the best team in football. Their roster is loaded with superstars, from Matthew Stafford and Puka Nacua to Myles Garrett and Trent McDuffie.

EA Sports released full team ratings for all 32 squads in "Madden NFL 27" on Friday and the Rams are the highest-rated team in the game. It's not that close, either. They're a 91 overall, the only team with a rating higher than 88.
The Philadelphia Eagles are second (88), followed by the Detroit Lions and Baltimore Ravens at 87 overall. Shockingly, the Seahawks aren't even the second-best team in the NFC West, according to Madden 27's ratings.
They come in at No. 10 with an 84 overall rating, slightly lower than the 49ers, who are an 85 overall. The NFC West makes up three of the top 10 teams in the game, showing just how strong the division is once again in 2026.

Draft season is an exercise in risk management. You spend the early rounds chasing proven volume, then a rookie running back on a bad team sits there daring you to bet talent over situation. Every year, one of those bets ends up deciding a ******* le.
Draft Jeremiyah Love, and plan to stash him through a shaky first month. The Cardinals rookie is going RB13 in July PPR drafts, late in the second round, so the price already bakes in a slow start. That discount is the opportunity.
The hesitation is understandable. Love landed on a three-win team with a crowded backfield and an unsettled quarterback room, and the fantasy community has spent the summer talking itself down on him. That is exactly the kind of noise that creates a value, because the profile underneath it has not changed.
Start with the history, because it holds up. Every running back drafted inside the top 10 since 2012 has averaged at least 14.3 PPR points per game as a rookie from Christian McCaffrey at 14.3 to Saquon Barkley at 24.1. Bijan Robinson (14.5) and Ashton Jeanty (14.4) landed in messy situations and still cleared that bar. None of them busted.
Love carries the same draft capital. Arizona took him third overall, the highest a back has come off the board since Barkley in 2018, and teams do not spend that kind of pick to hand out a timeshare.

Most tickets to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics cost hundreds of dollars, and the most coveted seats at dozens of high-profile events cost more than $1,000, according to fans who won the opportunity to purchase tickets in LA28 presales.
LA28 organizers have not publicly released a full price catalog, but fans have compiled spreadsheets with a complete list of prices for all 800-plus ticketed events. The Athletic, via screenshots and screen recordings, has independently confirmed many of the prices, which range from $28 (for the least desirable seats at lower-profile events) to $5,519 (for a lower-level seat at the opening ceremony).
The prices, across the board, are by far the highest in Olympic history. In many cases, tickets to LA28 are more than twice as expensive as an equivalent ticket at the 2024 Paris Olympics — whose prices sparked controversy in France.
The L.A. organizing committee's justification is similar to the one that guided FIFA's 2026 World Cup approach. "Pricing is rooted in heavy ****** ytics and extensive market demand research around entertainment and live sports in the U.S.," an LA28 spokesperson told The Athletic. In other words, Americans are accustomed to paying a lot for sports tickets.
Beyond the opening and closing ceremonies, the single most expensive sporting event at the 2028 Games is the men's basketball final. The top two ticket categories are reserved entirely for hospitality package buyers, who get courtside seats. A Category C seat — in the lower bowl along the sideline or in a corner — costs $3,350.

The one that is a defendant, along with several teams, in a class-action lawsuit brought forth by Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores and two former coaches alleging racial discrimination. The one under attack from the Florida attorney general, aiming to wipe out the Rooney Rule, which ties so closely to the FPA's mission.
The challenges for Meyer-Shipp come from multiple directions, with multiple layers, against the political winds of the anti-DEI movement pushed by the highest levels of government.

This extension will make him the highest-paid defensive tackle in the history of the NFL, surpassing the Tennessee ***** ans' Jeffery Simmons, who put pen to paper on a deal worth $105.8 million earlier in the offseason.

When Apple reports its fiscal third-quarter results, investors should expect much of the same. iPhone sales should be solid, with the company reportedly seeing a 3% increase in shipments during the quarter and gaining its highest-ever global market share at 20%, according to Centerpoint Research. This should then feed into its high-margin service revenue, which has consistently grown at a mid-teen rate.
Cook leaves Apple as having one of the best business models on the planet, making it easy for its next CEO to get off to a running start. The beauty of Apple is its closed ecosystem, which helps lock in customers. Once someone buys an iPhone, the cost of switching becomes increasingly difficult with each photo taken, subscription bought, and app downloaded. Users then become a part of Apple's huge service revenue machine. Apple is getting a high-margin revenue stream every time someone clicks on a search ad (as it gets a 36% revenue cut from Alphabet's Google), uses Apple Pay, buys cloud storage, or purchases a subscription or app.
Meanwhile, Apple just increased prices for several devices and certain service plans. This should be a nice revenue driver in the coming quarters after Cook leaves, giving incoming CEO John Ternus a solid revenue tailwind as he takes the reins. Ternus will also have time to execute a more comprehensive AI strategy for the company. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if Cook's decision to sit back and not throw huge amounts of money into chasing AI models proves to be a smart one.

The Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga clubs distributed more tickets during the 2025/26 campaign than in any previous season, according to the latest spectator report released by the DFL. The 36 professional clubs registered a combined total of 21,404,258 tickets, including complimentary and honorary admissions. This amounted to an average of 34,974 tickets per fixture, representing a new record across Germany's top two divisions.
The Bundesliga alone recorded 12,718,097 distributed tickets, an increase of 9.1 percent compared with the previous campaign. The average top-flight attendance rose from 38,082 to 41,562. The return of Hamburg and 1. FC Köln contributed significantly to the increase. Both promoted clubs possess large stadiums and substantial supporter bases, while relegated sides VfL Bochum and Holstein Kiel operated with considerably smaller capacities.
Another rise can be anticipated during the forthcoming campaign following Schalke 04's promotion back to the Bundesliga.
Borussia Dortmund once again recorded the league's highest average attendance, welcoming almost 80,000 spectators per home match in their 81,365-seat venue. Bayern Munich followed with approximately 75,000 in their 75,024-seat Arena while promoted Hamburg averaged around 56,900 in the 57,000-seat Volksparkstadion.
The Bundesliga's reported stadium occupancy rate also increased slightly from 95.9 to 96.1 percent.

Commodity producing and trading giant Glencore expects to post a profit of $3.3 billion in its marketing division for the first half of the year, as extreme market volatility during the Iran war generated windfall earnings for the energy commodity traders.
Glencore expects to report next week a strong half-year marketing adjusted earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) of about $3.3 billion in its Marketing segment, which includes oil trading, the company said on Wednesday in its half-year production report.
The trading giant didn't specify how much energy trading contributed to the profit, but it's expected to do so in the detailed half-year earnings due out next week.
At any rate, the market volatility of the past five months is putting Glencore's trading profit on track for its best year ever if energy markets continue to whipsaw in the coming months.
Glencore book its highest ever full-year EBIT in marketing for 2022, the year in which the Russian invasion of Ukraine upended energy flows and markets and sent oil prices soaring to $120 per barrel.

It's fitting that two of the brightest starts at the final Rocket Classic have been two of the most dedicated golfers in the tournament's eight-year history.
Indiana native Peter Malnati led the field after the first round of the 2026 Rocket Classic at Detroit Golf Club, shooting a 9-under par on Thursday, July 30. Malnati's 61 overall tied a course record set by Jake Knapp in the 2025 Rocket Classic as Malnati had multiple opportunities not only to grab the course record for himself, but register a historic round of 59.
"Even in the beginning before I knew it was going to be a special day, I didn't feel the same level of like anxiety of, like, if I hit a bad shot, it means I suck," he said. "I just felt no, I'm going to enjoy the good ones. If I hit a bad one, I'm going to figure out why and how can I improve."
Not far behind him was fan favorite Rickie Fowler, who finished the first round tied for second at 7-under, two strokes back. Malnati and Fowler are two of the six golfers to have played in all eight editions of the Rocket Classic.
World No. 3 Cameron Young, the highest-ranked player at the tournament, finished at 1-under after the first round while World No. 5 Russell Henley finished at 3-under.

Seattle Seahawks star Sam Darnold was money in the clutch last season.
Pro Football Focus appraised Darnold as being the fourth highest-graded quarterback in clutch situations in 2025, defined as situations where teams trail by 14 points or fewer, or hold a lead of eight points or fewer in the fourth quarter or overtime, excluding garbage time, among players with at least 45 dropbacks.
"Darnold ranked among the NFL's top five quarterbacks in several key efficiency metrics, including accurate throw rate (73.3%, third), negatively graded play rate (8.9%, fifth) and yards per attempt (8.4, fifth)," PFF's Mark Chichester said. "The combination of accuracy, efficiency and ball security helped produce one of the strongest clutch seasons of any quarterback in 2025."
The Seahawks were able to win the Super Bowl at the end of last season thanks in part to Darnold's ability to deliver in big moments down the stretch throughout the year, which helped them reach the NFL's biggest stage to begin with. The USC product's elite arm and sound decision making late helped him established himself as a quarterback capable of winning games in a variety of ways last season.
