The trade sending Kawhi Leonard back to Toronto is finally going forward, with the Raptors and Los Angeles Clippers agreeing to complete the deal that was agreed to earlier this summer, a person with knowledge of the negotiations said Monday.
The deal will be the same as what was agreed to 2 1/2 months ago: Leonard returns to the Raptors, with the Clippers getting Brandon Ingram, Gradey ******* , two first-round draft picks, two second-round picks and a pick swap, said the person who spoke to The ******* ociated Press on condition of anonymity because the trade had not received the required league approval.
It's a huge move for Toronto, which won the 2019 NBA ******* le with Leonard leading the way and is expecting to contend in the Eastern Conference. But the sides put the agreement on hold in early July pending any resolution of NBA's investigation into whether the Clippers circumvented salary cap rules with regard to Leonard's compensation.
The NBA hit the Clippers earlier this month with massive penalties as a result of that probe, suspending owner Steve Ballmer for one year, fining the team $30 million and forcing it to forfeit five first-round draft picks, among other sanctions.
Leonard, a two-time NBA Finals MVP, was hit with a $700,000 penalty as a result of that investigation. But he was not suspended and his contract was not voided, and the Raptors evidently are now certain that his status will not be affected.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Garrett Mitchell hit the Brewers' first grand slam of the season, one of four homers for Milwaukee in a 20-0 rout of the Cincinnati Reds on Friday night that clinched a playoff spot for the majors' best team.
William Contreras, Bryce Turang and Jake Bauers also went deep for the Brewers (92-56), who have a commanding lead in the NL Central but for now are **** ured of at least a wild-card spot. They lead second-place Chicago by 10 games in the division, and their magic number to clinch that **** le is four.
Dustin May (7-9) and Garrett Stallings combined on a two-hitter while Milwaukee pounded out a season-high 23 hits. May worked six innings, giving up two singles to standout Reds rookie Sal Stewart in his seventh start for the Brewers. He was acquired from St. Louis at the trade deadline.
Stallings got the last nine outs for his first save.
Andrew Abbott (6-11) allowed eight runs on nine hits in two innings, his shortest start of the season.

The San Francisco 49ers' injury luck couldn't have been worse coming into the season. It's a team that consistently has been among the worst in the NFL in adjusted games lost. Unfortunately, that trend is continuing in 2026.
De'Zhaun Stribling left the game early on, but shortly returned. When he did come back, Stribling was carted off the field. It was a non-contact injury in which Stribling couldn't put any pressure on his left leg. The 49ers immediately ruled him out, which is never a good sign.
Stribling played 21 snaps before he left with an injury. The 49ers relied on Jacob Cowing and Deebo Samuel in Stribling's absence. They'll likely use Demarcus Robinson more moving forward.
A wide receiver core that looked promising a month ago is now without two of its top three targets with Stribling's injury and Ricky Pearsall out for the season.
Tight end Jake Tonges was also carted off with a lower leg injury. He's questionable to return, but this does not seem like somebody who is coming back:

As you might expect, the replies and quote tweets to the post are filled with fans in disbelief over having to pay a monthly subscription to watch a highlights video.

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) — DeJuan Williams scored on a 94-yard run in the first quarter, the first of six rushing touchdowns for Maryland in a 62-0 rout of Hampton on Saturday night.
Williams and Iverson Howard scored twice each for the Terrapins in their season opener, and Harry Dalton III and Jianni Davis had a touchdown apiece. Malik Washington and Cardell Williams each threw for a TD as well.
Maryland outgained the Pirates (1-1) 646-85 in Hampton's first-ever game against a Power Four team.
Williams' long run to open the scoring was the second-longest in Maryland history, topped only by a 98-yarder in 1978 by Steve Atkins against Clemson.
Williams also had an 8-yard scoring run and finished with 116 yards on three carries.

Newcastle v Bournemouth — 7:30a on USA Network/Peacock: For the second straight week Tyler Adams came off the bench and Bournemouth conceded a late goal to drop points as Everton scored in stoppage time to draw level. Bournemouth will travel to Newcastle this weekend in search of their first win of the season as they face a Newcastle side coming off a 2-0 win over Tottenham.

Most would probably agree with this next sentiment. The Baltimore Ravens can state whatever they want publicly. Everyone knows they didn't simply bring in Jake Moody to take a look at another leg.
Executive vice president and general manager Eric DeCosta spoke with media members on Wednesday for the first time since Baltimore introduced its initial 53-man roster. As expected, everything was on the table for discussion. He mentioned the inquiries the organization received about Joe ****** nano's services. The conversation shifted to a possible Lamar Jackson extension, which the GM said he'd like to have done by March.
He also addressed another elephant in the room, the added kicker. Except this time, the answer sounded less diplomatic and closer to what most Ravens would probably say had they been given the microphone.
Per Baltimore's GM, the goal was to indeed create competition at kicker as the regular season approaches. While the Ravens have publicly supported Tyler Loop throughout the summer, as they should, DeCosta made it clear the organization felt compelled to explore another option.
"We have got to make kicks. [This] gives us a fresh set of legs to look at, evaluate, compare, [and] see how it all works out. In the end, it is a performance business, right? It starts with me. We have got to do our job."

There are a lot of things to say when talking about the Cleveland Browns.
Very old fans can reminisce about how the franchise was once one of the league's dynasties, led by the father of the modern NFL in head coach Paul Brown. But with their last NFL championship coming in 1964, those memories grow dimmer every year.
Those of us who are old, but not that old, can share tales of the teams of the 1980s, perennial playoff participants that reached the cusp of the Super Bowl three times under the franchise's last great head coach in Marty Schottenheimer and everyone's favorite quarterback in Bernie Kosar.
For today's fans, those teams may as well have played in the leather helmet era; it was so long ago. And while they have been able to cheer for some of the franchise's most legendary players like Joe Thomas, Nick Chubb, Myles Garrett, and Joel Bitonio, that has not always been a comfort once the game ended on another lost Sunday afternoon.
That is because, of all the things one could say about the Browns, the one thing they have not been able to say much since 1999 is that the team plays winning football.

Robert Stock can sleep well Monday night knowing he accomplished something against the Tampa Bay Rays that he had never done before in his MLB career: pitch into the sixth inning.
Not only that, but after going a career-long 5.1 scoreless innings against the American League's best team, the right-hander earned his first win since 2019 and his first as a starting pitcher following the Mets' 3-2 win over the Rays.
"It's really cool," Stock said about getting the win. "It takes a whole team to win the game and we saw that tonight with how great the defense was, how good the hitters were in the second half of the game. It's great when you step back and you look at how long it's been and I can both feel good about the team and myself."
Yes, the defense made some nice plays behind him like Christopher Morel's leaping catch with the bases loaded to end the fifth inning, but Stock was in total control against Tampa Bay and was the best version of himself that New York has seen this season.
Even more impressive? The outing came with the Mets in a 1-0 pitcher's duel for most of the night and right after a rough start against the Milwaukee Brewers (MLB's best team) where Stock allowed 10 hits and seven runs.

The Buffalo Bills wrapped their exhibition season in stylish fashion against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday at Highmark Stadium.
The Bills trailed late and rallied for a 28-27 comeback win.
It wasn't all easy for Buffalo in this one. The Bills had some struggles on special teams which directly led to scores for Pittsburgh multiple times.
That wasn't enough to stop quarterback Shane Buechele.
As players on the roster bubble kept on battling for a spot on the team, Buechele helped rally the Bills with a late score with less than two minutes remaining in the contest. Buechele ended up going on to convert the two-point conversion to take the one-point lead that the Bills would cough up in the dying seconds.

When speaking to the media in the pre-match press conference, Chelsea boss Bompastor admitted that Real Sociedad will provide a strong test but believes that her own side are well-prepared.
"It will be a strong test," Bompastor said. "Real Sociedad finished third in the Liga F. They are a Spanish team, so they have a really strong philosophy in possession, but they have a lot of quality out of possession as well.
"We know everything about them now and we have prepared for the game well. The game will also be about us and I'm confident with the quality we have shown during pre-season."

LeBron James and the PGA Tour have teamed up to announce the LeBron James Family Foundation Invitational, a two-day event at Firestone Country Club for underrepresented aspiring golfers.
The experience will connect students in the LeBron James Family Foundation's I PROMISE program with professional golfers who advanced through the PGA Tour's Pathway to Progression Pro-Bound Five program.
The inaugural event is scheduled for July 6-7, 2027. Firestone Country Club recently hosted its final Kaulig Companies Championship, which is moving to Newport Beach, California. Firestone had a 72-year run of hosting a PGA Tour event, notably the Bridgestone Invitational that Tiger Woods dominated for much of the 2000s and 2010s.
"For many years, PGA Tour events at Firestone have been a staple of our community, benefitting our hometown and bringing people together," said Michele Campbell, executive director of the LeBron James Family Foundation. "With this event, we're excited to not only support more diverse golfers getting into the game, but to also expose our I PROMISE students and more youth in Akron to the world of possibilities that golf opens up."
James recently launched a YouTube channel as he brings people along his own golf journey. This new partnership is aimed at opening some doors to the game of golf that some might not have previously had to the same degree.

Despite ever-growing food and fuel prices, an ailing health care system, and violent conflicts in the U.S. and abroad, the far right has decided to continue to wage war on transgender student-athletes. And while politicians debate the topic within our nation's highest offices, many forget about the real human beings who are affected.
When West Virginia House Bill 3293, also known as the Save Women's Sports Act, became law in 2021, Becky Pepper-Jackson, a track-and-field athlete who identifies as trans, and her family challenged the bill in court.
Since then, the battle over whether schools should allow trans student athletes to play on sports teams that align with their gender identity has continued in West Virginia and other red states throughout the nation. On June 30 of this year, the Supreme Court ruled to uphold state bans on transgender girls and women competing in girls' and women's school sports.
"My 16-year-old daughter, Becky Pepper-Jackson, wants what most kids want: to be herself and play the sport she loves with her friends," Becky's mother, Heather Jackson, wrote in an op-ed for USA Today after the ruling. "I always knew that no matter what the court decided, Becky would be a winner because she has shown all of us how to love, accept, and be ourselves no matter the outcome."
Parker Tirrell, a lifelong soccer player, and fellow New Hampshire trans student-athlete Iris Turmelle were the first to challenge President Donald Trump's executive order, Keeping Men Out of Women's Sports, which was signed into law in February of 2025.

The Cleveland Browns took on the Buffalo Bills in the second preseason game of this 2026 season. Few starters entered the game, which here at DBN, we have no issue with. All across the league, numerous starters have gotten hurt in live games and ended their season before it began.
Every team in every league at every level needs practice games. Practices are great and are learning sessions, but the live aspect displays which players are getting it, and which players will be handing in their playbooks come August 30.

Against Buffalo, Cleveland started their second-team offense. QB Shedeur Sanders took his start, following Deshaun Watson starting the first preseason game.

As of right now, Manchester City are short of midfield options ahead of the 2026-27 Premier League season getting under way this weekend. Looking at Enzo Maresca's squad, there is Elliot Anderson, Mateo Kovacic, Rico Lewis, Nico O'Reilly, Phil Foden, Nico Gonzalez and Rayan Cherki who will form City's midfield against Bournemouth. Rodri and Tijjani Reijnders left earlier this week, and Bernardo Silva departed when his contract expired at the end of the 2025-26 season. It has now been revealed that Nico Gonzalez has been informed that he can leave Manchester City. If that report is correct, yet another midfield option could leave Enzo Maresca's squad.
Craig Hope of the Daily Mail has reported that Nico Gonzalez has been informed that he can leave Manchester City this summer. Furthermore, it is reported that Newcastle United maintains a strong interest in signing the Spanish midfielder and he is becoming open to the move. Lastly, it is also reported that some of Nico Gonzalez's City teammates are trying to convince him to shun Newcastle's interest and stay at City.
If Craig Hope's report is on the money, Nico Gonzalez is heading for an exit from Manchester City. He'd be another midfielder that City would have to replace. It is seemingly City's plan to replace any player who leaves from this point onwards.
It does seem harsh that Nico Gonzalez has been told he can leave the FA Cup and Carabao Cup holders. The Spanish midfielder is the only number six in Enzo Maresca's squad. Also, Nico Gonzalez showed during the first half of last season that he can play a role for this City team. He held down the fort superbly well while Rodri was out last season playing in Rodri's role. So there is evidence that Nico is good enough to play in an Enzo Maresca side.
It is hard to see why Pep Guardiola cast Nico Gonzalez aside during the second half of last season. Enzo Maresca seems to prefer Mateo Kovacic in midfield rather than Nico. Maybe Nico isn't thought to be physically strong enough to compete consistently in Manchester City's midfield. Perhaps the issue is that Nico's work in possession isn't up to standard. I'm not sure what the issue but clearly there is something that the majority are missing.

At this point, it would be a massive surprise if Harry Kane backed out of talks with Bayern Munich and pushed to leave the club before the transfer window ends.
Even the thought of that seems ludicrous after months of both Kane and club officials saying that the Englishman is not going anywhere. Still, there is another report indicating that FC Barcelona, who does need a striker, is watching Kane's situation from afar:
Barcelona are monitoring Harry Kane's contract talks with Bayern Munich. The England captain is giving priority to resolving his future with the German champions where he is settled and discussions are ongoing about the length of deal for the 33-year-old.
Kane is understood to want a three-year deal and, as Daily Mail Sport revealed earlier this summer, Barca have made their interest known. Al Hilal are also keen on Kane even though they are pursuing Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins too.
There does not seem to be any chance that Kane will leave Bayern Munich, but if there is a smidge of a reason to worry, it would be because Barca has — somehow — just found ways to get deals done this summer. Whether it was swiping Anthony Gordon away from Bayern Munich or convincing Rodri to leave Manchester City and bail on a move to Real Madrid.

LAS VEGAS — Las Vegas Aces head coach Becky Hammon was ejected from her team's matchup against the Atlanta Dream on Tuesday at Michelob Ultra Arena.
The fifth-year coach appeared to be arguing a no-call after Dream forward Angel Reese missed a midrange jumper with 5:06 remaining in the second quarter. That drew Hammon's first technical as the Dream had a 33-29 lead.
Hammon then exited the sideline and charged towards officials on the court in frustration. She had to be held back by her ***** istant coaches and high-fived players and other team personnel as she headed toward the locker room after receiving her second technical foul in quick succession.
Assistant coach Charlene Thomas-Swinson took over in Hammon's absence.
It's Hammon's first ejection since the Aces lost to the Los Angeles Sparks on June 9, 2024.

Eric Bieniemy said on Tuesday that his wife Mia is "doing great" and on the "road to recovery" three weeks after she was shot at the couple's Virginia home.
The Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator was meeting with reporters for the first time since Mia Bienemy suffered gunshot wounds to her arm and chest on July 26.
"It's one of the main reasons why I'm back here, because of her recovery," Bieniemy said. "She's truly a soldier. She's a saint and it's been incredible to watch. But I know I was driving her and a bunch of my family members crazy in the house, so she was like 'you have my blessing to leave.' It was time to get back."
The couple's son, 27-year-old Elijah Bieniemy, was arrested on charges of malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and discharge of a firearm inside a dwelling. In a court filing, his lawyer said he "appears to suffer from significant mental health issues" and "does not appear able to **** ist in his own defense at the present time."
Bienemy, who had been at training camp when the news broke about the shooting, said that once the situation settled at home he was able to watch a livestream of Chiefs practices to stay connected to the team.

Former Real Madrid player, coach and sporting director Jorge Valdano has weighed in on Barcelona's signing of Rodri, arguing that the Spanish midfielder would have had an even greater transformative effect had he ended up at Real Madrid.
Speaking on Movistar Plus Deportes, Valdano offered an unusual way of ***** sing the significance of the transfer. In his view, Rodri undoubtedly improves Barcelona, but preventing Madrid from acquiring a midfielder with his particular qualities carries considerable value of its own.

Former Clemson football standout Ray-Ray McCloud has found his next NFL opportunity, joining another NFC team ahead of the 2026 season.
The Chicago Bears announced Monday that they signed McCloud, bringing in a veteran wide receiver who also offers plenty of experience in the return game. The move comes after McCloud worked out for the Detroit Lions over the weekend.
McCloud spent part of last season with the Atlanta Falcons before being released during the year. He later landed with the New York Giants, spending time on their practice squad before becoming available again.
The former Clemson receiver has put together a lengthy professional career since entering the league as a sixth-round selection by the Buffalo Bills in the 2018 NFL Draft. McCloud has recorded 159 receptions for 1,523 yards and two touchdowns during his NFL career.
His value hasn't been limited to offense. McCloud has consistently contributed on special teams, totaling 1,326 yards as a punt returner and another 2,890 yards on kickoff returns.
