SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. — Jason Day has withdrawn from the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills after 10 holes. He was +7 through 10 holes, and was visibly uncomfortable during a tee shot. Cameras caught him being driven off the course.
This was Day's 14th U.S. Open. He has five top-10 finishes, but all came in his first six starts. In the 2020s, Day has two missed cuts, and no finish higher than T21. He held the No. 1 rank in the Official World Golf Rankings for 51 weeks, and won the 2015 PGA Championship.
We do hope Mr. Day is back to full health soon, but we would be remiss if we didn't get one more look at that … striking Malbon ensemble he sported on Thursday:
Spectacular. Get well soon, Jason.
