Two years ago, it seemed like ******* ody wanted to touch Intel (NASDAQ: INTC). The company that basically invented the modern chip industry had turned into its own cautionary tale, posting an $18.8 billion net loss for 2024 while it fell behind Nvidia in artificial intelligence (AI) and behind Taiwan's foundries in manufacturing.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
Then something strange happened. The U.S. government bought a stake in Intel. So did Nvidia. So did SoftBank. Companies and governments don't usually hand over billions to a business they think is finished, and that's the real reason I think the next 14 months matter more for this stock than almost any stretch in Intel's recent history.
Turnarounds aren't real until a real, working product ships, and Intel is finally shipping. In July, the company said its newest Arizona fab had entered high-volume manufacturing on a subset of its Core Ultra Series 3 chips, known as Panther Lake, the first processor built on Intel 18A, which Intel calls the most advanced semiconductor process ever developed and manufactured in the United States. Its second-quarter 2026 release adds that the next node behind it, 18A-P, had already entered risk production, meaning Intel isn't just trying to catch up on one generation, it's trying to stay on pace for the one after. On the data center side, that same release says Intel also launched Xeon 6+, its first server chip built on 18A.
Money talks, and in 2025 three very different yet massive buyers said the same thing with their wallets. The U.S. government invested $8.9 billion in Intel common stock, structured largely out of unpaid CHIPS Act and Secure Enclave funding, in exchange for roughly 275 million shares and warrants for up to 241 million more. Nvidia added $5 billion, and SoftBank put in another $2 billion, both also in Intel common stock. None of this money really guarantees Panther Lake sells well, or that Intel's foundry business ever turns a real profit. But I think it's an odd thing to do if you think a company is circling the drain, and you don't have any faith in it.

With shares up by almost 700% over the last five years, Palantir Technologies (NASDAQ: PLTR) has been one of the biggest winners on the software side of the generative artificial intelligence (AI) megatrend. It has rapidly incorporated the new technology into its business model, leading to skyrocketing revenue and earnings.
That said, Palantir's stock rally has slowed over the last 12 months, leaving investors wondering whether it can return to the explosive growth it enjoyed in previous years. Let's dig into the pros and cons of the stock to decide what it might be worth by the end of 2027.

Right now, AI-hungry investors are mostly limited to the infrastructure side of the opportunity. This is where hardware companies like Nvidia and Micron build the chips that data center providers use to run and train large language models (LLMs). However, many leading consumer-facing AI software leaders are still privately held, putting them out of reach.
Palantir convincingly bucks the trend. Its business involves sifting through vast amounts of its clients' internal data to help them identify actionable insights like business trends, opportunities, and fraud. Generative AI proved highly synergistic with these tools, enabling operators to access insights via natural language prompts rather than advanced interfaces. Demand has been explosive.

Sandisk (NASDAQ:SNDK) gave investors two pieces of news on Thursday, Oct. 29. The flash memory company's fiscal first-quarter revenue grew 23% over the previous quarter to $11.0 billion. And the board approved an eight-for-one stock split, with split-adjusted trading expected to start Friday, Nov. 20.
Does a split announcement tell investors anything about where a stock heads next? I checked what happened over the year after eight big-name split announcements, measured from every stock's close on announcement day.

President Donald Trump has been in the White House for nearly six years, spanning two nonconsecutive terms. Over that time, the iconic Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJINDICES:^DJI), benchmark S&P 500 (SNPINDEX:^GSPC), and growth-dependent Nasdaq Composite (NASDAQINDEX:^IXIC) have delivered well-above-average annual returns, compared to most other presidents since the late 1890s.
One of the key catalysts powering Wall Street's bull market, the artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure build-out, was well underway before Trump's second term began. But make no mistake about it: Wall Street and investors have also benefited immensely from the president's Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (signed into law in December 2017), which lowered the peak marginal corporate income tax rate to 21% (the lowest rate since 1939), fueling record S&P 500 share buybacks.

Generating $1,000 a month in dividends is a simple process but it usually requires a substantial capital outlay. The Schwab U.S. Dividend Equity ETF (NYSEMKT: SCHD) is perhaps the best dividend ETF for accomplishing this. Not only does it offer a much-above-average yield, but it's also backed by a portfolio of durable, high-quality companies.
That's exactly what you want in your portfolio, so let's run through the path for how to get there.

The Schwab U.S. Dividend Equity ETF tracks the Dow Jones U.S. Dividend 100 Index. It starts with a universe of U.S. equities that have paid dividends for at least 10 consecutive years. From there, it examines the stock's dividend growth rate, yield, and several fundamental metrics, including return on equity (ROE) and cash flow-to-debt ratio. The 100 stocks with the best combination of these factors make the cut for the portfolio.
It's the combination of dividend yield and dividend quality that makes this fund so effective. The screens act as cross-checks on each other, so investors can get the best of both worlds. Choosing stocks based solely on yield can leave investors vulnerable to yield traps or potential dividend cuts. The quality screen here helps steer clear of that and gives people a sustainable high yield along with the quality portfolio.

Replicating the average $2,071 monthly Social Security check requires roughly $991,000 invested across FDLO and VYMI, blending to a 2.5% yield.
At a 6% annual return, reaching $991,000 takes about $2,144 per month over 20 years, dropping to $1,682 at an 8% return.
Place FDLO in a Roth IRA for tax-free growth and VYMI in a taxable account to capture its foreign tax credit.

Imagine a second deposit landing every month, the same size as the Social Security check you already count on. The average retired worker collects $2,170 a month in 2026, according to the Social Security Administration's COLA fact sheet. That comes to $26,040 a year, and that's the target.

Bear markets are a normal part of investing in the stock market. **** ody knows when the next one will arrive, but it will eventually arrive with 100% certainty. The time to prepare is before you face the fear that comes with big market downturns. That's why you should consider owning companies like Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ), Medtronic (NYSE: MDT), Coca-Cola (NYSE: KO), and Procter & Gamble (NYSE: PG).
But there are two pieces to the story here. First, they all operate in economically resilient industries. Second, they all have incredible dividend track records. Here's a quick look at each one.

To be fair, you may not be happy about paying for healthcare, since it can be expensive. But you will still pay for it because, in the most extreme cases, it can be the difference between life and death. In less extreme cases, the difference is between a better and worse quality of life, and you'll still probably pay up. The risk of not paying simply isn't worth it.
Johnson & Johnson is a good choice if you are worried about a bear market and are looking for a safe-haven investment. It is a major player in both the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors, providing diversification. It is a Dividend King, having rewarded shareholders with more than 50 consecutive annual dividend increases. And while its yield isn't exactly huge at 2%, it is roughly twice what you'd collect from an S&P 500 index (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC) fund. J&J isn't exactly an exciting company, but it is a reliable one.

The night Yaxel Lendeborg declared he'd "lost all respect" for Luka Dončić, agent Ron Shade and personal trainer Aaron Johnson were at the Warriors' season opener in Los Angeles and sprang into action. They went to talk with him.
Mentor Josh Lane followed up later that night. The former director of player relations at the University of Alabama Birmingham was momentarily concerned. Maybe he shouldn't have said that; it was his first NBA game, after all. So Lane texted Lendeborg something in the vein of: Man, what?
"We know when we can kinda talk him out of different things, and then we know there's certain things that he's just convicted on," Lane said. "That was one of those things he was just convicted on. Like, 'Man, I said what I said.'"
Those around Lendeborg have accepted that this is who he is, and to try to get him second-guessing himself would be the worst outcome. This is all part of the same package, an 18-year-old kid in a 24-year-old's body, as Lane put it. Lendeborg is driving through some of the best players in the world with abandon, and doing it with an awareness of his own faults that is endearing him to the rest of Golden State's locker room.
The honesty and the personality, though, mean he's taken the NBA by viral storm. He went after Dončić after Game 1 and defended his words later. Then, after dropping 31 points against the Nuggets in Golden State's first win Monday night, Lendeborg said he "would've cried" if the Warriors lost again. On Wednesday night in Minnesota, he pointed at himself for seven turnovers while also saying an aggressive Timberwolves team wasn't playing "real defense."

After an impressive breakthrough campaign at Bayern Munich, Lennart Karl has faced difficulties both on and off the pitch since the start of the 2026/27 season.
The 18-year-old has struggled to rediscover his best form after recovering from the muscle tear that ruled him out of the World Cup. At the same time, his attitude and behaviour off the pitch have recently come under significant criticism from Bayern supervisory board member Uli Hoeneß.
"I plan to have a serious word with him. He is a long way from being a superstar. Young players need humility," Hoeneß fumed in an interview with Welt am Sonntag.
"Comparisons with [Michael] Olise are clearly not doing him any good. There is still a world of difference between them."
According to Bild's head of football, Christian Falk, Karl's situation has put Liverpool, ******* nal and Manchester United on alert, with all three Premier League clubs monitoring developments should an opportunity to sign the 18-year-old arise in the future.

Angel Reese being praised for her performance during the 2026 WNBA Finals doesn't sit well with one Los Angeles Clippers fan.
The Atlanta Dream survived the win-or-go-home Game 6 against the Golden State Valkyries in the 2026 WNBA Finals.
Star forward Angel Reese contributed 15 points to the 80-69 win, but she had a somewhat off-shooting night.
Despite that, many have praised Reese for her overall performance in the series and want her to win the Finals MVP if the Dream seal the deal in Game 7.
One X user, 'Jacobtheclipper' doesn't share the same enthusiasm about Reese's WNBA Finals performance as others.

Packers' Josh Jacobs explains what misinterpreted TD celebrations actually meant appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Green Bay Packers failed to run the ball efficiently yet again despite leaving Lambeau Field with a 27-19 victory over the Carolina Panthers, but Josh Jacobs still drew plenty of attention all the same. After scoring a go-ahead one-yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter, he put his hands behind his back as if he was wearing handcuffs.
The 2022 First-Team All-Pro was arrested in May regarding a domestic dispute with his then-girlfriend and pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of battery and criminal damage to property. The optics of such a TD celebration are obviously awful, but Jacobs claims his actions were misconstrued.
"Me and {wide receiver Savion Williams} came up with a celebration. They haven't seen the whole celebration," the former rushing yards leader and three-time Pro Bowl selection told reporters after the game, per Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. "Basically, last week, we said the first celebration when I score, I was going to thank God. That's what I did. The second was going to be break every chain, it's a gospel song. That was going to be the next celebration (he was immediately swarmed by his teammates). It's just a correlation.

Lionel Messi's bodyguard just picked up a new trick from ONE Lightweight Submission Grappling World Champion Kade Ruotolo, and he wasted no time putting it to good use.
The meeting happened by chance in Los Angeles, California, where a mutual sponsor event put Kade and his twin brother, reigning ONE Welterweight Submission Grappling World Champion Tye Ruotolo, in the same room as Yassine Cheuko, the French-Tunisian security professional who rarely leaves the soccer player's side.
Kade was the one on camera, but Tye was right there for the whole thing.
In the clip, the 23-year-old Tenore athlete breaks down a standing Mir Lock for Cheuko, and the video ends with the bodyguard applying the very same hold on him and forcing a tap.
Ultimately, the welterweight submission grappling king and his twin brother walked away with a positive experience.

Arsenal are preparing to launch negotiations over an extended deal for first-choice goalkeeper David Raya despite the Spaniard recently admitting he would like to play in his homeland one day. Meanwhile, neither Barcelona nor Real Madrid are expected to make an imminent move for the 31-year-old shot-stopper in upcoming transfer windows.
According to Football Insider, the north London hierarchy want to tie their Spanish custodian down beyond his current 2028 expiration date to fend off any future interest from La Liga. Speculation linking him with Spain's two biggest clubs emerged after he told Spanish media last week that he hopes to play in his native top flight eventually. However, the goalkeeper insisted in the same interview that he remains content at the Emirates Stadium.
Having silenced initial sceptics following his move from Brentford to establish himself as the Premier League's standout goalkeeper in recent seasons, Raya registered his fifth clean sheet in eight top-flight outings against Everton last weekend before narrowly losing out on Monday's Yashin Trophy to international team-mate Unai Simon.
Explaining why a switch to Spain is unlikely soon on the Transfer Insider podcast, journalist Pete O'Rourke said: "If he were to leave ******* nal, there's no immediate opening for one of the big boys in Spain right now as well. Barcelona have got Joan Garcia, and it looks like Courtois is going to sign a new contract at Real Madrid as well, so I don't see any opening for David Raya right now.
"The player is happy at ******* nal, and obviously ******* nal are very happy with him, so I think any potential move back to his native Spain will be probably on the back burner for a while just yet."

Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving is being heavily linked with a move to the Miami Heat.
The Heat have had a really poor start to the season, winning just one of their first five games. That has increased the need for reinforcements, and Irving has come up as a potential option.
However, NBA insider Brett Siegel has all but dismissed the chance of this move happening, even if the interest from Miami is genuine.
ESPN's Shams Charania broke the news about the Miami Heat's interest in Irving, but he expressed doubts over the feasibility of the deal.
Siegel has now done exactly the same thing.

Things started out well tonight at Lambeau Field for the Carolina Panthers, who forced a fumble on the game's opening kickoff. They only got three points out of it, though—and it was mostly downhill from there.
In the end, they lost to the Green Bay Packers by a score of 27-19, which makes it sound much closer than it actually was. So, who had the greatest hands in the defeat?
Here are your studs and duds from a spooky-bad Thursday night loss . . .
Amazon opened their broadcast with Blue Oyster Cult's 1976 hit "Don't Fear the Reaper," and the Packers defense certainly didn't have to. For the second straight week, Young went to pieces under pressure, looking nothing like the confident and decisive quarterback he was early this season in the same situations.
Young responded poorly to the rush, running himself into sacks and releasing the ball at bad angles. He led one strong scoring drive in the fourth quarter—but it was too little, too late.

New Zealand vs India 4th T20I prediction, lineups and Eden Park pitch report — who will win? originally appeared on Cricket News. Add Cricket News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
India have already won the series, and New Zealand are running out of bowlers. The fourth T20I at Eden Park on Friday (12.30pm IST) will offer the hosts little comfort.
India chased 199 in 13.2 overs in Wellington, scoring 118 in the first six, the highest powerplay total in men's T20I history. Now they move to a ground where the boundaries are very short.
India have scored at 10.45 an over across 38 T20Is this year, the best of any Full Member. New Zealand have managed 9.37 across 23 innings. Finn Allen apart, their batters do not hit with the same power, and their bowling attack has been stripped back further. Lockie Ferguson is out for the rest of the series, joining Matt Henry and Zak Foulkes on the injury list. Blair Tickner may play.
India have won 22 of their 34 T20Is against New Zealand, losing 11 with one tie, and they have taken eight of the last nine meetings. Their only real choice is how much to rest, with the ODI and Test series still to come. Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy and Shivam Dube have yet to play on this tour, and Mayank Yadav could return. Even so, the top order of Abhishek Sharma, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Sanju Samson and Shreyas Iyer would be hard for any attack to contain.

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson took an ambulance ride to a local hospital after suffering an injury during Thursday night's win over the Carolina Panthers, but precautionary testing on Watson's chest came back with good news, so he rode the ambulance back to Lambeau Field and finished the game without complication.
Watson explained the wild sequence, which started with him landing hard on the football at the end of his 53-yard catch in the second quarter and ended with Watson returning in the same ambulance he took to the hospital, running back onto the field to the roar of the crowd and catching two passes after being cleared to return from the frightening injury.
From Watson in the post-game locker room: "I think I just came down on the ball, or my elbow or something. I couldn't breathe on the field, got the wind knocked out of me. Got back to the sideline and was spitting up blood, so the doctor said I had to go get a CT. I was begging him to not make me do that, but it is what it is. Everything looked good, just got a rib, that's all, all the major stuff was all good, no internal bleeding or anything like that, so I was able to get back out there."
Watson said he has a broken rib. He wore extra padding and a molding around his ribs to protect the injury when he returned.
On the Prime Video broadcast, Watson told Kaylee Hartung that he was checking the doctor's play-by-play of the game while at the hospital. He was gone from the stadium for roughly an hour while being evaluated.

Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love connected on 30 of his 41 passes for 288 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception during the team's Week 8 win over the Carolina Panthers.
SOURCE: USA TODAY
Why It Matters: Forced to operate without the benefit of a professional-level running attack yet again on Thursday night, Love made lemonade, passing for more than 270 yards for the sixth time this season (and fourth in a row) while running his streak of games with multiple touchdowns to eight. Love has quietly moved into that same category as names like Dak Prescott and Jared Goff, who can produce midrange to low-end QB1 numbers without the benefit of doing any running. Through eight games, Love is on pace to throw for 4,773 yards, 34 TDs, and 13 INTs. Even without rushing numbers, that's borderline QB1 production.

Despite entering the postseason with a 20-11 record, their first time with double-digit losses in the regular season since 2019, the Notre Dame Pandas swept through four straight opponents, then pulled off a comeback for the ages against Beechwood (24-26, 22-25, 25-13, 25-14, 15-10) to complete the journey to a fifth straight Ninth Region championship.
For the second straight night, tournament MVP Teagan Kondik had her fingerprints on the final play, putting away her 27th kill to complete the comeback.
"Joy. Doing it for my teammates when we've had a hard season, for sure, faced a lot of adversity. I think ending the region with a kill was super special to do it for them," Kondik said.

Is Dak Prescott worried about Cardinals using same kryptonite plan as Buccaneers, Packers? appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Dallas Cowboys will aim to notch back-to-back wins for the first time this season as they host the Arizona Cardinals at AT&T Stadium on Sunday.
It has been an up-and-down campaign for the Cowboys, who are sitting on a 3-4 record. The Cardinals are having a worse season with a 2-5 record.
Dallas beat the Philadelphia Eagles, 38-21, in Week 7, with Dak Prescott throwing for 212 yards and three touchdowns and CeeDee Lamb tallying five catches for 74 yards and two touchdowns. It was a much-needed victory after the Cowboys suffered back-to-back losses to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Green Bay Packers.

Even when it was pretty, the Carolina Panthers offense kept finding ways to get ugly in Week 8.
Down 27-13 with just under 11 minutes left in Thursday night's matchup against the Green Bay Packers, the Panthers kept themselves alive. Carolina pieced together a gutsy 12-play, 70-yard drive that reached the end zone on an impressive catch-and-run by wideout Jalen **** er.
But instead of sending out kicker Ryan Fitzgerald to make it a seven-point game, head coach Dave Canales opted to go for two points. The try would fall short, as a pass from quarterback Bryce Young was tipped and unable to find its way into the hands of either receiver Tetairoa McMillan or tight end Darren Waller.
Although the failed attempt didn't ultimately matter, with the Panthers losing to that 27-19 score, Canales was asked about the questionable call afterwards.
"For me, it was about knowing what you're gonna do on the next one," he replied. "So, felt good about that one. We had a nice play that we really liked, based on what they were doing. Had an opportunity there in the back of the end zone. But unfortunately, had two guys in the same spot really going for the ball.

Brian Kelly came into Baton Rouge with one objective in mind: win a national championship. He never managed to achieve the objective, not even reaching the College Football Playoff once during his four seasons with the LSU Tigers.
Kelly had told the press that he left Notre Dame for LSU because he believed he couldn't win a national ***** le with the Fighting Irish. On Thursday, he admitted that he was never able to play up to the standard set for him in Baton Rouge.
Speaking with Front Office Sports, the former LSU coach said:
"I didn't live up to the standards that are set there at LSU. They brought me in to win a national championship, and there was a lot of work that needed to be done to get there, more so than many thought, but at the end of the day I didn't get to that level of expectation that they had," Kelly said.
He also said that he expects Lane Kiffin to be held to the same standard he was under when he was LSU's coach. So far, 2026 has looked similar to the years under Kelly, with highlights and low points for the No. 15 Tigers (6-2) as their CFP hopes have only a thin margin for error.

The Kansas City Royals made their first big offseason move on Thursday by cutting ties with closer Carlos Estévez. The team declined his $13 million club option, which means he hits the open market. Instead of paying that high price, Kansas City will hand him a $2 million buyout. This decision clears the books but leaves a huge hole in the bullpen after he led the league with 42 saves in 2025.
At the same time, the club exercised a $2.5 million option on right-hander Tony Gonsolin. Per MLB.com Royals, this move keeps a former All-Star under contract for 2027 despite his recent injury struggles. It is a low-cost gamble for a pitcher who once went 16-1 with a 2.14 ERA in 2022. After ending last season with a 5.07 bullpen ERA that ranked 29th in the majors, the Royals must acquire all available pitching help.
Letting Estévez walk feels risky, but the math makes sense for a small-market team. He signed a two-year, $22.2 million deal before 2025 and delivered a 2.45 ERA that year. However, his 2026 season was a disaster filled with injuries and blown saves. He was limited to just one appearance before a comebacker hit his foot and a rotator cuff strain ended his year. According to Yardbarker, his strikeout rate dropped while his walk rate climbed in 2025, showing he was already losing a step.
Paying $13 million for a pitcher who might not even throw a pitch in 2027 is hard to justify. The Royals are better off taking the $2 million buyout and trying to find a cheaper replacement. They need to fix a relief corps that allowed too many runs and lost too many games. The 69-93 record from last year proves the bullpen was a major problem that this move attempts to address.
Bringing back Gonsolin is a different kind of bet, one based on potential rather than recent results. He joined the team on August 13 while recovering from elbow surgery he had in August 2025. In just one major league outing this year against the White Sox, the 32-year-old surrendered five runs across 2 2/3 innings. Per Royals Keep, the $2.5 million price tag is very affordable for a starter with his career stats of 37 wins and 13 losses.

The Houston Comets unveiled their new logos Thursday ahead of their return to a WNBA court next season.
While not a one-to-one remake of the original Comets branding from the 1990s, the logos feature similar elements presented in a sleeker way.
The main logo features the letter H angled slightly upward, a basketball with comet tails forming the letter's crossbar and four-pointed stars located inside the letter. The secondary logo features that design inside a circle that says Houston Comets.
Word marks for "Houston" and "Comets" feature the same motifs of a basketball with a comet tails and four-pointed stars.
Basketballs with comet tails and stars inside the H were both key features of the original Comets logo.

Ferrari had a perfectly good explanation for Austin qualifying ready before the cars were back in the garage: the straights. Lewis Hamilton said rivals keep accelerating where the Ferrari lifts, and he put the Red Bull Ford power unit's advantage at roughly three to four tenths a lap, while admitting he hadn't seen the data that weekend. It is a tidy story. It is also only half of what the official timing sheet says.
Here is the awkward detail: Charles Leclerc's quickest lap of the weekend came in Q2, not Q3. He went 1:34.198 to top the second session, then 1:34.267 in the shootout. Had he simply repeated the Q2 lap, it would have been quicker than every Q3 time except Kimi Antonelli's pole lap of 1:34.035. A straight-line deficit doesn't switch on between sessions, so something else changed in Q3.
Lining up each driver's Q2 and Q3 laps is revealing. Hamilton found 0.522s between sessions and still ended up fifth, 0.276s off pole. Isack Hadjar found 0.637s. Max Verstappen found 0.257s and Antonelli 0.243s. Leclerc found nothing; he went backwards by 0.069s and finished fourth, 0.232s adrift.
Leclerc's own explanation was the track cooling down and the tyres not coming up to temperature cleanly in Q3. Fred Vasseur said Ferrari was in the pole fight until the final corner. Those aren't the words of a team that was out-powered by half a second down the straights. They describe a team that left time in the final sector on a one-lap run where the window for the tyres is narrow.
To be clear, Hamilton's straight-line complaint can be true at the same time. A car that gives away a few tenths in a straight line needs everything else to be perfect on a qualifying lap, and Ferrari's margin for a slightly cold tyre is thinner than it looks. That is my read, not something either driver said, but it fits the numbers: Ferrari looked like pole contenders in Q2 and a fraction short in Q3 because the margin vanished the moment the tyres weren't ideal.

Jones spent time in Atlanta as both a quarterback and head coach, leaving a unique mark on the franchise's history.
The Atlanta Falcons have lost another familiar figure from their history, as former quarterback and head coach June Jones passed away on Thursday at the age of 73.
Jones had a lengthy football career that took him across the NFL, college football, and beyond, but his connection to Atlanta was particularly unique. It's not often that a player gets the opportunity to return to the same franchise as a coach, much less lead the team as its head coach. Jones was one of the rare individuals who experienced both sides of that relationship with the Falcons.
Jones originally joined Atlanta as an undrafted quarterback in 1977, spending five seasons with the franchise through 1981. Primarily serving as a backup, he appeared in 17 games and threw for 923 yards and three touchdowns. His playing career wasn't particularly memorable statistically, but his time in Atlanta would prove to be just the beginning of his relationship with the franchise.
After transitioning into coaching, Jones eventually returned to Atlanta in 1991 as offensive coordinator under Jerry Glanville. When Glanville departed following the 1993 season, Jones was promoted to head coach, a position he held from 1994 through 1996.

Combined, the Yuba City and River Valley High girls volleyball teams had not won a Sac-Joaquin playoff match in nearly 20 years – a negative trend that changed Tuesday all across town.
– YC (20-9) held serve at home to win its first playoff match since 2015 with a four-set win over Buhach Colony to advance into the SJS Division III quarterfinals where it will face a familiar foe in Roseville (19-17) of the Foothill Valley League, at 6 p.m. today (Thursday) in Placer County. It is a four-five matchup, with Roseville the No. 4 seed in the bracket. Roseville has won eight straight over YC dating back the last four seasons. The Honkers' last win was 2022 when the current senior corps was still in eighth grade, according to records.
– RV (15-15) avenged last year's five-set playoff loss to Oakdale with a sweep at home Tuesday to advance into a quarterfinal date with No. 1 Ripon (25-4) at 6 p.m. in San Joaquin County. RV last faced Ripon in 2018 – the same year of its last postseason victory in the SJS playoffs when current head coach Samee Taylor was a senior setter/opposite attacker on the squad that finished 25-5 and won the Capital Valley Conference in the regular season. In the playoffs, Taylor and RV got to the 2018 quarterfinals where it was derailed by Del Oro in four sets.
Taylor was an everyday athlete, appearing in 55 sets for the Falcons that year. She collected 60 kills, 13 blocks and had 45 ******* ists.
– The top-seed in D-V won its 32nd match with a straight-set victory over Westlake Charter Tuesday in Sutter. The Huskies (32-5) host Linden, once the home of Yankees slugger Aaron Judge, at 6 p.m. today in the quarterfinals. Sutter has won 15 straight and only dropped one set since the High Sierra Tournament in Reno the first weekend in September.

Packers' Tucker Kraft scores TD nearly a year after brutal injury vs. same Panthers team appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Green Bay Packers have wide receiver Matthew Golden suited up for their Thursday Night Football game against the Carolina Panthers despite injury concerns. Golden's availability is a big boost for the Packers as he has been the team's second-leading receiver behind Christian Watson this season.
However, it was their third receiver, tight end Tucker Kraft, who got the first touchdown of the game after the Panthers opened the scoring with a field goal.
On third down in the first quarter, quarterback Jordan Love threw an absolute laser of a pass that was able to find Kraft despite pressure from two Panthers defenders. A delighted Kraft then went over to the crowd for a Lambeau Leap.
It was Kraft's third touchdown of the season, tying him with Golden for second on the team. Unfortunately, Packers kicker Trey Smack continued his recent struggles as he missed the extra point, keeping the score at 6-3.
