The Twins offense tonight could only be described as groundball happy, get ready to read the words "double play" about a million times. In the 1st, 2 on and 1 out, Kody Clemens hits into an inning ending double play. In the 2nd inning, Luke Keaschall ends the inning with their second double play.
They finally broke through in the 4th inning, after Clemens doubled and Josh Bell hit an RBI single to put the Twins up 1-0. In the bottom of the 5th Alan Roden hits into the 3rd Twin-killer of the night.
In the top of the 6th, Josh Rojas and Lane Thomas did a double steal, with Rojas stealing home. I wasn't there to see it but Gameday says it happened. Two batters later, the Twin killer himself, Salvador Perez, hit the go-ahead RBI single to put the Royals up 2-1.
The Twins rallied again, with Clemens HBP and Bell singling to center with Clemens going 1st-to-3rd on the play. Then Victor Caratini ended the inning by, you guessed it, hitting into the 4th double play of the night. I'm so glad I missed almost all of this game because that had to be depressing.
What wasn't depressing was the performance of Taj Bradley and the bullpen tonight. Taj racked up 10 strikeouts in his 6 innings of work, allowing just 3 hits, 2 runs, and 3 walks. Then Kody Funderburk, Travis Adams, and Jack Anderson combined for 3 innings of shutout pitching, allowing just 1 hit and striking out 4.

Carolina Panthers running back Jonathon Brooks was finally able to put on his pads at an NFL training camp.
Tuesday's session proved to be another showcase for Brooks, who is progressing through his first healthy offseason as a pro. The 23-year-old shined this morning, putting his speed and suddenness on display—as he did during spring workouts.
He was asked about the session afterwards.
"It felt good. It felt good to be back out there," Brooks stated. "I'm just trusting the process that the trainers and coaches have for me. And just ultimately, believing in myself throughout the whole rehab process. And it was a blessing to be back out there."
Between two ACL tears to his right knee, one from college and one from his rookie campaign, Brooks has been limited to just three games since being drafted back in 2024. After being sidelined for the entirety of the 2025 campaign, the former second-round pick seems likely to factor into the Carolina offense from the jump—even drawing whispers of earning a featured role down the line.

As Kyle Shanahan and the San Francisco 49ers look to reload their passing attack, all eyes are on marquee addition Mike Evans. While Shanahan's offense has long been hailed as one of the NFL's premier schemes, the turnover in last season's receiving corps left a distinct void on the perimeter.

The Detroit Lions enter training camp facing new questions at cornerback, and longtime beat writer Dave Birkett believes some of those concerns could have been addressed months ago.
During an appearance on Crunch Time Sports on Woodward Sports Network, Birkett questioned whether Detroit general manager Brad Holmes and head coach Dan Campbell did enough to protect the roster against the possibility that Terrion Arnold's legal situation could worsen.
Arnold, a former first-round pick, had been connected to allegations involving an alleged kidnapping and robbery plot dating back to February. Arnold's attorney and representatives denied the allegations.
The Lions publicly stood behind Arnold while the situation developed. Birkett's concern centers less on that public support and more on whether the organization should have created a stronger contingency plan at cornerback.
Birkett argued that the reporting available before free agency should have encouraged Detroit to prepare for the possibility that Arnold might not remain available.

But Breidinger has quietly been working on her racecraft. She's getting back to her roots this year and returned to racing late-models, winning a competition at the historic Hickory Motor Speedway on July 11. Days later, she was in New York City, stunting on the red carpet at the ESPYs — a display of how she's able to successfully balance her on-track aspirations with her modeling career.

ESPN caught the NFL media unawares with a long list of layoffs enforced on Tuesday, July 21, as the organization aims to restructure the NFL Network, a media property it acquired back in January.
Part of the layoffs ensnared former NFL MVP Cam Newton, who was, by some accounts, a polarizing figure among NFL Media.
These ESPN layoffs were the first round of cuts since the organization purchased the NFL Network. The layoffs were headlined by Ryan Clark and Cam Newton, while longtime NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero was also reportedly let go. Former All-Pro linebacker Bart Scott is also expected to depart ESPN.
As the news reached social media, insider John Frascella had a few things to say about Newton's exit.

Six-time Olympic medallist Suni Lee has announced she is coming back to gymnastics after not competing since the 2024 Olympics.
The 23-year-old took team gold with the USA in Paris along with all-around and uneven bars bronzes.

The season gets closer and closer every day, and for Notre Dame, the biggest question is how far of a run can it make in the College Football Playoff.
Most believe that the Irish will make the 12-team field, but not everyone is the bullish on them. 247Sports Brad Crawford does, as he has ranked teams in tiers: clear frontrunners, program leadership should prevail, rosters worth a second look, schedule ******* istance looms large and dark horses with Notre Dame being in the first tier.
Along with Ohio State, Oregon, Miami and Georgia, the Irish are one of five teams that Crawford believes have a great chance to win the CFP. The teams in tier two, Indiana and Texas, should be viewed as contenders as well, so in reality, he’s got seven teams that could hoist up the CFP trophy at the end of the season.
The good news is that there aren’t many major questions surrounding the Irish, as they’ll return quarterback CJ Carr along with an elite defense headlined by safety Tae Johnson and linebacker Drayk Bowen. The biggest unknown is which offensive skill position players will step up, but there is no doubting the talent at wide receiver or running back. Notre Dame has recruited and worked the portal very well over the last few years, with this potentially being the most talented team in many years.

After a horrible start to the 2026 season, the Detroit Tigers have rebounded nicely, posting the best record in the American League since June 1, leaving themselves in position to challenge for a playoff spot and a division ***** le in the second half of the season.
At the end of May, Detroit had plunged to a 22-38 record through 50 games, 16 games under .500 and 11.5 games behind in the AL Central division. The roster, and the pitching rotation in particular, was devastated by injuries, with Tarik Skubal, Casey Mize, Troy Melton, and Justin Verlander all spending time on the injured list. Reese Olson will miss the entire season, while Jack Flaherty and Kenley Jansen struggled early and joined the wounded in June, and Jackson Jobe remains on the 60-day IL.
Despite all that, the Tigers now have a healthy rotation, with Verlander and Jobe hopeful for the second half, and their rotation has the fourth-best ERA in baseball, 3.48, at the All-Star break. Tigers starters also have the fourth best BB/ 9 ratio and the lowest home run ratio in the show at just 0.99 homers per nine innings pitched. They have surrendered the third-lowest batting average and the fifth-lowest Walks plus Hits per inning (WHIP) in the majors. Keeping the ball in the yard and runners off the bases is a recipe for success in any league.

After a festive Fourth of July weekend in Chicago, NASCAR will return to Atlanta for the second time this season on Sunday for the Quaker State 400.
Apart from major tracks like Daytona and Talladega, EchoPark Speedway has hosted many of the most exciting Cup Series races in recent years. With major track renovations in 2022, the former Atlanta Motor Speedway now has higher banking in the turns and a narrower racing surface, making it somewhat of a smaller "superspeedway".
Given its nature, races at EchoPark are frequently unpredictable and exciting. Fans can expect to see lots of passing and continuous action on each lap around the 1.54-mile oval. Heading into Sunday, the odds favor Tyler Reddick, Ryan Blaney and Chase Elliott.

The Milwaukee Brewers had been heavily connected to Sawyer Strosnider in mock drafts throughout the weeks leading up to the 2026 MLB Draft. Ranked as a top 30 talent in this Draft, including 13th overall by Baseball America, the Brewers were ultimately able to select Strosnider, but not at 25 overall where he was expected. Milwaukee gets their guy at 66 overall.
In the first round, the Brewers went with a likely heavy under-slot selection with Corona (CA) HS shortstop Trey Ebel.
Strosnider fell likely due to some struggles late in the season for TCU, but he has one of the best power-speed combinations in this entire class. Both tools grade out as plus with legendary home runs and blazing speed. He hit .273/.415/.590 on the season for the Horned Frogs with 13 homers and 12 stolen bases. Strosnider drew as many walks as he had strikeouts (43) as well.
The Brewers have historically loved great athletes, especially multi-sport athletes and Strosnider was a three sport star in high school. He played basketball as well as track and field on top of baseball. Strosnider’s event of choice was the high jump, which bodes well for potential home run robberies in the outfield. That athleticism should give him a much better chance to make any adjustments necessary to be successful at the next level.
Strosnider has an aggressive approach at the plate, which has led to him chasing a few too many pitches outside of the zone, leading to lower quality contact sometimes. The Brewers historically preach smart swing decisions and that’s likely something they’re going to work on heavily with him once he gets in the organization.

Artem Dovbyk continues to be linked with a summer move away from Roma and the latest reports in Italy claim that Ajax head coach Michel, who coached the Ukrainian at Girona, is keen for a reunion in Amsterdam.
Dovbyk joined Roma in a deal worth €30.5m plus add-ons in the summer of 2024 and went on to score 12 goals from 32 league appearances during his first season at the Stadio Olimpico. His 2025-26 campaign was plagued by injuries, though limiting him to just three starts in the league across the season.
Recent reports claim that Roma are keen to shift the centre-forward, who remains under contract for another three seasons until the summer of 2029.
There have been reports that Genoa are interested in a deal for Dovbyk, which would bring a reunion with his former Giallorossi head coach Daniele De Rossi, but this might be a tricky transfer for the Rossoblu to pull off on financial grounds.
Instead, it is Dovbyk's former Girona coach, Michel, now in charge at Ajax, who is said to be interested in exploring a deal with Roma.

A recent post on X by NFL ******* yst (and former Raiders' employee) Ryan Paganetti shows that the average number of punts per team is way down. The league average in 2025 was 3.58 punts per game.
The Raiders among the league leaders with a 4.29 per game punting average. One of the reasons why Klint Kubiak was hired as the Raiders' head coach was his Seattle Seahawks were a powerhouse. He was the offensive coordinator of the Super Bowl-winning team. Seattle averaged well below the league average at just 3.0 punts a game.
