New Philadelphia 76ers teammate VJ Edgecombe is only entering his second year, but playing with James has been polarizing for some people.
Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has never been shy to give his take on certain situations. Since the Warriors missed out on signing LeBron, Draymond has given his take on how the former could harm VJ's development in Philly.
While the 76ers are celebrating the fact that LeBron will be playing for them, it seems some critics are unhappy with how VJ will be affected by this new signing. It is a bit of a bizarre sentiment, considering Edgecombe himself is quite excited by the fact that he will be playing alongside the four-time Finals MVP.
It will be challenging to beat out any other player who can be as impactful as James for Edgecombe. Valero admitted that Mourinho's return surprised him, but believes the Portuguese manager is the right choice to restore Real Madrid to competing for every major trophy.
"Obviously, Mourinho's return caught my attention, as I think it did for almost everyone. But the president has seen him as the key to getting back on the winning track. Real Madrid is the most demanding club in the world and isn't satisfied with just winning a Cup or Super Cup… you have to be at your best every year. Indianapolis Colts' running back Jonathan Taylor has expressed his desire to remain with the Colts as he enters the final year of his contract. On Friday, owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon echoed similar sentiments.
"He's one of our pillars," Irsay-Gordon said, via the Indy Star. "His picture is on the stadium for a reason. I would love it if he'd be a Colt for life."
Taylor remains one of the most productive backs in football, while shouldering a heavy workload out of the backfield. He played in 13 games in 2024 and all 17 games last season, rushing for 1,431 yards and 1,585 yards, respectively.
Beyond all the yards and touchdowns, it is Taylor who sets the table for the Colts offense. With a strong and steady run game to lean on, that keeps the Colts out of predictable long down-and-distance situations and opens up the playbook for Steichen.
An extension would seem like a no-brainer, but it's not often around the NFL that we see running backs get a third contract with the same team, especially when the back has as many carries as Taylor does.

The NFC South has become one of the NFL's most competitive divisions in recent years, but Bleacher Report isn't convinced it's one of the league's best.
In a preseason ranking of every NFL division, Kristopher Knox placed the NFC South eighth, making it the lowest-ranked division heading into the 2026 campaign. The ranking factored in last season's results, offseason additions and departures, and each team's placement in Bleacher Report's latest power rankings.
Knox acknowledged that every team in the division has reasons for optimism. He pointed to Atlanta's additions of head coach Kevin Stefanski and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, New Orleans continuing to build around young quarterback Tyler Shough, and the Buccaneers addressing their pass rush by signing Al-Quadin Muhammad and drafting Rueben Bain Jr.
Tampa Bay also found itself on the list of the division's biggest offseason losses. Knox highlighted the departures of longtime franchise cornerstones Lavonte David, who retired, and Mike Evans, who left in free agency, as significant changes for a team looking to reclaim the NFC South crown after its four-year run at the top of the division came to an end.
Despite ranking the NFC South last overall, Knox doesn't believe the race will lack intrigue. He noted that Carolina, Atlanta, Tampa Bay and New Orleans all have a realistic path to contention if their quarterback situations develop as hoped. He also pointed out that the Buccaneers looked like one of the NFL's hottest teams before injuries derailed their season, leaving them with an opportunity to win the division until the final week of the year.

It's so hard to put together any sort of position ranking list without feeling like you left someone off or slighted a really good player or two. As a wide receiver only, however, I'm a big fan and think he could compete for a top-10 spot if he got the developmental reps he needs.
Since he entered the league in 2023, Puka Nacua leads all wide receivers with 600 or more routes in yards, first downs and successful targets per route run. Every season he gets a little bit better, with 2025 being the year he added more vertical separation to his bag.

For the first time in 19 seasons, the Pittsburgh Steelers have new leadership on the sidelines, following Mike Tomlin's stepping down after last season's Wild Card round loss to the Houston Texans.
McCarthy is now in his first training camp with the Steelers, and it's the first time the changes in his approach have been noticeable by people outside of the organization. One of the most notable changes has been the absence of live tackling.
"We won't do live tackling," McCarthy said, via Pro Football Talk. "No, I've done live tackling in the past. . . . Every drill's been evaluated. There's a GPS component behind everything that we do. You know, there's more stress that we need to apply to our training situations than just going (on) the ground.
"The footwork's the priority. It always will be about the feet and everything that we do whether tackling, blocking, you know, ball security, all those things. So the footwork component about it is important."

Draft season is an exercise in risk management. You spend the early rounds chasing proven volume, then a rookie running back on a bad team sits there daring you to bet talent over situation. Every year, one of those bets ends up deciding a ******* le.
Draft Jeremiyah Love, and plan to stash him through a shaky first month. The Cardinals rookie is going RB13 in July PPR drafts, late in the second round, so the price already bakes in a slow start. That discount is the opportunity.
The hesitation is understandable. Love landed on a three-win team with a crowded backfield and an unsettled quarterback room, and the fantasy community has spent the summer talking itself down on him. That is exactly the kind of noise that creates a value, because the profile underneath it has not changed.
Start with the history, because it holds up. Every running back drafted inside the top 10 since 2012 has averaged at least 14.3 PPR points per game as a rookie from Christian McCaffrey at 14.3 to Saquon Barkley at 24.1. Bijan Robinson (14.5) and Ashton Jeanty (14.4) landed in messy situations and still cleared that bar. None of them busted.
Love carries the same draft capital. Arizona took him third overall, the highest a back has come off the board since Barkley in 2018, and teams do not spend that kind of pick to hand out a timeshare.

The MLB trade deadline coming next week could change the roles for some players across the leagues. Some might be thrust into more playing time, while others could land in more fantasy-friendly situations. As we wait for that to play out, we can still make some moves on the waiver wire to fortify our squads. Let's highlight five players to consider adding who are still available in the majority of Yahoo leagues.
Urena held the Astros in check during his last start, allowing one run over six innings. That marked his fourth straight outing in which he allowed one or no runs. He now has a 2.70 ERA that is backed by a 3.27 xERA. His 21.9% strikeout rate isn't great, but he limits damage by allowing only 0.6 HR/9. Not only is he worth adding for his start against the Marlins next week, but he could be someone to hold onto for the stretch run.
Holmes (lower leg) has been sidelined since the middle of May, but has already embarked on a rehab ******* ignment. On Tuesday, he threw 59 pitches in his latest outing. He appears to be nearing a return, but he might not be a member of the Mets when he does. The team figures to be sellers at the deadline and Holmes is certainly someone that a few contending teams would want on their roster. With his career 3.53 ERA and 3.66 xERA, he's someone to consider adding now before he is officially activated off the injured list.
Unlike Holmes, the Mets likely have plans to keep Scott in their starting rotation for years to come. He has pitched well of late, giving up one or no runs in three of his last four starts. He misses a lot of bats, recording a 28.8% strikeout rate for the season. Another positive is that he has limited opponents to just a 34.2% hard-hit rate. Scott is lined up to start against the Guardians and Pirates next week, making him one of the top streaming targets to consider.

Seattle Seahawks star Sam Darnold was money in the clutch last season.
Pro Football Focus appraised Darnold as being the fourth highest-graded quarterback in clutch situations in 2025, defined as situations where teams trail by 14 points or fewer, or hold a lead of eight points or fewer in the fourth quarter or overtime, excluding garbage time, among players with at least 45 dropbacks.
"Darnold ranked among the NFL's top five quarterbacks in several key efficiency metrics, including accurate throw rate (73.3%, third), negatively graded play rate (8.9%, fifth) and yards per attempt (8.4, fifth)," PFF's Mark Chichester said. "The combination of accuracy, efficiency and ball security helped produce one of the strongest clutch seasons of any quarterback in 2025."
The Seahawks were able to win the Super Bowl at the end of last season thanks in part to Darnold's ability to deliver in big moments down the stretch throughout the year, which helped them reach the NFL's biggest stage to begin with. The USC product's elite arm and sound decision making late helped him established himself as a quarterback capable of winning games in a variety of ways last season.

During the first day of training camp practice for the Jacksonville Jaguars, rookie tight ends Nate Boerkircher and Tanner Koziol each saw their share of opportunities with the first-team offense.
Certainly, those opportunities speak to what they've put on film throughout the offseason and the work they've put in away from the practice field. But as head coach Liam Coen described after practice, he also wants to put the rookies in some new situations to see how they respond.
"It's also trying to put them in some positions that maybe are a little uncomfortable early on, like putting them in some positions that we got to go see what they can do in terms of that," Coen said. "And not that we know what Hunter and know what Quinton can do -- I think both those guys had good days as well, Hunter and Q -- we got to see what these guys can do against NFL competition, against a good defensive line, whether it's with the first group or the second group."
Boerkircher was a terrific blocking tight end at the college level and the Jaguars believe he can impact the passing game as well. That well-rounded skill set, especially when paired with Brenton Strange and all he can do, can help add a new layer to the offense and open up the playbook for Coen.
Koziol, meanwhile, was more of a pass-catching threat during his college career.

NEW DELHI: Ajinkya Rahane never sought the spotlight. In an era dominated by classy stroke-makers and larger-than-life personalities, he quietly built a reputation as one of India's most dependable overseas batters and one of the country's most respected leaders.

On Thursday, the 38-year-old brought the curtain down on his international career, ending a journey that spanned more than a decade and produced some of Indian cricket's most memorable moments.

Having played 85 Tests, 90 ODIs and 20 T20Is, Rahane finished with 8,414 international runs, 15 centuries and 51 half-centuries. Yet, numbers only tell part of his story.

Although training camp is back and the New Orleans Saints are finally on the field again, the business side of football always tends to creep in. While most were worried about rookie Jordyn Tyson's availability for drills, which turned out to be full participation, maybe some attention should have been put on Chris Olave's contract.
Yesterday, in Saints General manager Mickey Loomis' press conference with Saints media, he spoke on the contract talks and had nothing negative to say. Olave was good to go for training camp, and his presence was never in question, but on the first day, he did sit out team drills due to the contract situation.
Contract situations like these can often cause issues, but this one may be different. While other players around the NFL are fully sitting out, Olave just chose not to participate in team drills. This is similar to what Alvin Kamara did a few years ago when he was looking for a new contract, and it never caused issues. Instead of holding out, Olave is holding in, so he is still a participant, just not fully.
This move puts just enough pressure on the front office to get this deal done quickly, and with what Loomis said about those negotiations, that should come sooner rather than later.

You guys have probably heard the line 'its hard not to be romantic about baseball' before, and tonight was a perfect encapsulation of that very phrase. It had all the highs of the big blowout win, the heartbreak of the blown save, and then the triumph of the unsung hero coming out of nowhere in the extra innings to save the team. Nights like tonight either drive you crazy, or make you fall in love with the game that much more. No other sport can play with our emotions quite like baseball can.
The Diamondbacks offense got off to such an amazing start. Scoring consistently with team baseball throughout each of the first 4 innings. It really felt like this offense was clicking. Overall they recorded 16 hits in the 12 innings highlighted by James McCann with 4 and Nolan Arenado with 3. On the flip side, this offense also set a franchise record recording 24 outs with runners in scoring position tonight. What started out so good, quickly turned into a start reminder of the problems that have been plaguing this offense most of the season with its struggles with RISP.
Then in the 7th inning, the offense suddenly came to a screeching halt. And the Pirates offense came jolting to life. The Pirates would erase the 6-0 lead the Dbacks had going into the 8th inning with 3 runs in the 8th and 3 runs in the 9th. Unfortunately what had been a strength much of the season in the backend of the bullpen in Thompson and Sewald was a weakness tonight. Thompson simply could not get away with anything tonight giving up 4 hits and a walk in just .2 of an inning. And the leader of this bullpen, Sewald came into the game with a 3 run lead in the 9th and proceeded to give up a base hit and back to back home runs to immediately erase the 3 run lead and tie the game. This was such a low moment for this team in such a big game. Especially with how lock down Sewald has been in save situations this season coming into the game having blown only 2 saves in 24 chances.
However fortunately for the Dbacks there was Gerardo Carillo who tonight put this team on his back and carried them back into the 3rd wildcard spot. Carrillo, who came into today working primarily as the low leverage long man, was thrust straight into some of the most high leverage innings of the season thus far, and boy did he deliver. Carillo was able to give the team 2 innings tonight in which he allowed 0 hits and 0 runs while striking out 3 while getting his first career major league win. He threw a 6 pitch scoreless 11th and then put up another 0 in the 12th to keep this team alive. Carillo has always been an intriguing relief option in the upper minors given his upper 90's fastball velocity combined with his pitch mix including a cutter, a splitter, and sinker. However tonight he also showed that he has what could arguably be the most important trait for a late inning reliever and that is he has that dog in him.

Romo was arrested Thursday night in Milwaukee on suspicion of operating while intoxicated after reportedly performing poorly on standardized field sobriety tests. He was subsequently booked on a first-offense operating while intoxicated (OWI) charge and released. Romo was also cited for refusing to take an intoxication test.

The expanded 12-team College Football Playoff has created more opportunities for teams to compete for a national championship.
Programs that previously had almost no chance of making the playoffs now have a realistic path. That became clear over the past two seasons, as Indiana, SMU, Boise State, Tulane and James Madison all reached the CFP for the first time. Their success showed that winning games, capturing a conference ***** le and building a strong resume can now be enough to earn a playoff spot.
Even with those first-time teams making the field, several well-known programs are still waiting for their CFP debut. Few came very close in 2025, while others have built talented rosters that could help them break through in 2026. European football officials have issued a renewed directive on the use of Video ****** istant Referees (VAR), stressing that the technology should only intervene in cases of "blatantly incorrect" decisions or clear missed incidents.
The move follows a significant meeting last week involving referee chiefs from all 55 national ****** ociations and representatives from the International Football ****** ociation Board (Ifab), the body responsible for the game's laws.
The consensus reached aims to streamline officiating and reduce the impact of lengthy reviews.
A Uefa release stated: "VAR must only intervene in situations of 'clear and obvious' error, i.e. when a referee decision is blatantly incorrect or when the referee has missed a clear incident. VAR is not meant to re-referee the game, it is an essential support to the referees, who must remain at the centre of all decision-making. Lengthy, microscoping reviews are often a symptom revealing that the decision on the field was not clearly and obviously incorrect, and should therefore be limited."

The road trip for the Brewers started out with the offense mostly silent. They were shut out by the Giants 3-0 on Monday, the fifth time they have been shut out all season. However, it's also the second time it's happened in the last six games.
Scoring chances were very limited tonight. The first came in the second inning. Jake Bauers hit a one-out single, then Andrew Vaughn drew a walk following a challenge. It set up an early scoring chance, but Garrett Mitchell grounded into a double play to end the inning.
Meanwhile, Brandon Sproat worked through the first two innings scoreless, but did have to work around a couple situations. In the first, Heliot Ramos hit a fly ball to right, and Bauers appeared to have an easy catch. However, it bounced out of his glove, and Ramos reached second on the error. Ramos would steal third, but Sproat kept him there with a strikeout and groundout.

Warren Beatty may have stepped away from the Hollywood spotlight, but a source exclusively tells Examiner that he's been closely following his and Annette Bening's daughter Ella's burgeoning acting career from home.
"Ella hasn't had a massive hit yet, but she's steadily winning roles in highly competitive situations and even more importantly, people are noticing that she actually delivers when she gets one of these parts," the source says.
According to the source, even though Beatty, 89, rarely mingles in Hollywood circles, he still keeps track of Ella's accomplishments.

If Jackson, 29, leads the Ravens to a Super Bowl **** le or plays well in the postseason, then the team has to make him the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL. If he has a dismal or disappointing showing like he did last season, then the Ravens should offer him a contract worthy of a top-10 player at his position.
This isn't rocket science.
Of course, Jackson, in his ninth season, wants Patrick Mahomes-type money. Earlier this offseason, the Kansas City Chiefs star reworked an eight-year contract worth $504.75 million with $397 million guaranteed, averaging $54.45 million beginning in 2027 through 2033.
Needless to say, Jackson is no Mahomes.

The Los Angeles Rams made a bold move to add star defender Myles Garrett, and it appears Garrett's value continues to rise.
Sports Illustrated ranked Garrett as the NFL's best edge rusher entering 2026.
"Without question, Garrett is the best edge rusher in the NFL—and perhaps even the best player in the game," wrote Sports Illustrated's Eva Geitheim. "This past season, Garrett made history, breaking the NFL's official single-season sack record, tallying 23 sacks during the season as he captured his second Defensive Player of the Year award. He also owns the record for most consecutive seasons with at least 12 sacks, having achieved this feat in six consecutive years from 2020 to '25."
"He has now been a first-team All-Pro in three consecutive seasons, and five times overall. He continues to make even the league's best offensive linemen lose sleep as he adds more signal-callers into his quarterback graveyard. In 2026, Garrett will take his talents to Hollywood—O.K., Inglewood—after the Browns traded him to the Rams. With the trade, he'll get the opportunity to add postseason success—and perhaps a ring—to his Hall of Fame résumé."
It means the Rams were more than justified in making the move for Garrett. There are rare situations in which a team should trade a Pro Bowl pass rusher before they've hit their prime, and if the Rams were to lose Jared Verse, Garrett is the only player that makes sense in the long run.

The idea of the leadership council has been around, evolved over the years and adapted to different sports and situations. The way Candle's works is essentially by identifying the leader in each position group – typically a veteran player who's been around and knows what it takes to play in college – who will take part in regular meetings and provide feedback to the staff on what's going on and what may need to change.

Up to this point in his Colts' tenure, Treadwell has spent his share of time on the practice squad. But with the wide receiver depth taking a hit this offseason, his experience -- both in the NFL and in Shane Steichen's offense -- could be quite valuable. The Colts could also utilize more of a rotation at that WR3 spot, with matchups and in-game situations dictating who is on the field, which could provide Treadwell with another opportunity to earn playing time.
He's also shown he can contribute to multiple special teams phases as well, which will factor into the equation as Steichen and Chris Ballard construct the final roster.

Rep. Kat Cammack (R-Fla.) said Wednesday that Congress has a "culture of creepiness" when it came to members approaching and soliciting staffers.
Cammack told MeidasTouch's Pablo Manríquez that she "wouldn't feel comfortable sending" her "daughter to work here" in the current congressional environment.
Her comments came after Rep. Jeff Crank (R-Colo.) unveiled a resolution that would mandate lawmakers to confidentially disclose relationships with staffers in other offices or committees to the House Ethics Committee.
"I think we would be better off if members were more focused on their work than enhancing their love life," Cammack said.
She commended the resolution in addressing the power dynamics of these situations.
