Two years ago, it seemed like ******* ody wanted to touch Intel (NASDAQ: INTC). The company that basically invented the modern chip industry had turned into its own cautionary tale, posting an $18.8 billion net loss for 2024 while it fell behind Nvidia in artificial intelligence (AI) and behind Taiwan's foundries in manufacturing.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
Then something strange happened. The U.S. government bought a stake in Intel. So did Nvidia. So did SoftBank. Companies and governments don't usually hand over billions to a business they think is finished, and that's the real reason I think the next 14 months matter more for this stock than almost any stretch in Intel's recent history.
Turnarounds aren't real until a real, working product ships, and Intel is finally shipping. In July, the company said its newest Arizona fab had entered high-volume manufacturing on a subset of its Core Ultra Series 3 chips, known as Panther Lake, the first processor built on Intel 18A, which Intel calls the most advanced semiconductor process ever developed and manufactured in the United States. Its second-quarter 2026 release adds that the next node behind it, 18A-P, had already entered risk production, meaning Intel isn't just trying to catch up on one generation, it's trying to stay on pace for the one after. On the data center side, that same release says Intel also launched Xeon 6+, its first server chip built on 18A.
Money talks, and in 2025 three very different yet massive buyers said the same thing with their wallets. The U.S. government invested $8.9 billion in Intel common stock, structured largely out of unpaid CHIPS Act and Secure Enclave funding, in exchange for roughly 275 million shares and warrants for up to 241 million more. Nvidia added $5 billion, and SoftBank put in another $2 billion, both also in Intel common stock. None of this money really guarantees Panther Lake sells well, or that Intel's foundry business ever turns a real profit. But I think it's an odd thing to do if you think a company is circling the drain, and you don't have any faith in it.

President Donald Trump has been in the White House for nearly six years, spanning two nonconsecutive terms. Over that time, the iconic Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJINDICES:^DJI), benchmark S&P 500 (SNPINDEX:^GSPC), and growth-dependent Nasdaq Composite (NASDAQINDEX:^IXIC) have delivered well-above-average annual returns, compared to most other presidents since the late 1890s.
One of the key catalysts powering Wall Street's bull market, the artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure build-out, was well underway before Trump's second term began. But make no mistake about it: Wall Street and investors have also benefited immensely from the president's Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (signed into law in December 2017), which lowered the peak marginal corporate income tax rate to 21% (the lowest rate since 1939), fueling record S&P 500 share buybacks.
Continue »

The world mourned the loss of Patrick Stewart on Thursday as the iconic actor passed at the age of 86 after a battle with Alzheimer's Disease and Lewy Body Dementia. Stewart was a prolific stage actor as well as taking on massive roles in both television and film. He played Captain Jean-Luc Picard for 176 episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation, as well as starring as Professor X in eight X-Men movies -- including post-credit scenes and cameos -- across both the Fox and Marvel Cinematic universes (with the ninth coming this December with Avengers: Doomsday).
But one of the things that made Stewart so special and beloved was his willingness to do something goofy or funny. Such was the case in a 2024 Super Bowl commercial for Paramount+. Not only did Stewart star alongside well-known CBS and Paramount+ characters like Survivor's Jeff Probst, Knuckles from Sonic the Hedgehog, daytime host Drew Barrymore and Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa.
Knuckles appears in the new Paramount+ Super Bowl commercial. pic.twitter.com/tuD7G4GfXz
— Sonic The Wereblog (Sonic_Hedgeblog) February 1, 2024
It's a truly ridiculous commercial that features Stewart trying to convince Tagovailoa to throw Arnold of Hey Arnold! to the top of a mountain. "Not built for the moment, I see," Stewart delivers as if he's on stage in the West End.

ORCHARD PARK - One of the most fascinating aspects of the Buffalo Bills' 5-1 start is how efficient Josh Allen and the offense have been, and given the terrible play of the defense, it's exactly what has been needed.
The Bills lead the NFL in points per game at 32.8, and since the defense has allowed at least 29 points in five of the games, every point was necessary, and that will probably be the case Sunday at Highmark Stadium when the Bills host the Baltimore Ravens.
But here's what's crazy: The Bills have scored all these points despite the fact that they have run just 359 plays, tied for the second-fewest in the NFL. Yes, some of that has to do with playing only six games while others have played seven, but consider this: While the Bills average 59.8 offensive snaps, the Chicago Bears average 72.1, and the Los Angeles Rams average 68.2.
"I just think it's efficiency. Like, I go back to Week 1 when we had the ball at our two-yard line, and then I think three plays and we scored," said center Connor McGovern, recalling a series against the Texans late in the first half when the Bills actually went 96 yards to take a 24-14 lead, one of nine TD drives this season that have been achieved in six plays or less. "We're able to just get up there, calm, cool, if we get that first first down we're just rolling with that."
Of course, part of the low offensive snap count has to do with the Bills' defense not being able to get off the field and the opposition has averaged 32 minutes of time of possession. That's a key reason why the Bills are in hyper speed mode so often.

WEST GREENWICH – Zakhi Hightower knows he owes Josian Franco a touchdown.
Franco did the dirty work – the defensive pressure, a swatted pass – so Hightower just had to walk in for the game-breaking score. Juanita Sanchez/Providence Country Day cruised the rest of the night.
Hightower's interception return for a touchdown highlighted a breakout second quarter for the Cavaliers. Their season will continue with a clean slate, and a playoff date next week awaits after a 34-22 victory over Exeter-West Greenwich on Thursday night, Oct. 29.
Juanita Sanchez (3-4) currently has the fifth seed in Division IV after the victory on Oct. 29. The fourth spot, in this ever-changing RPI system, is within reach pending the weekend's results. More defensive plays like Hightower's 25-yard pick-six would make this co-op a dangerous team in the knockout stages.

Speculation surrounding the long-term future of Ronald Araujo has intensified as his representative finally addressed the defender's mindset at Anfield. The Uruguayan international remains a central figure for the Premier League leaders despite persistent links to a continental exit.
The representative for Araujo has sought to clarify the Liverpool defender's current status following a wave of reports suggesting a potential move away from the Premier League. As one of the most consistent performers in the English top flight, Araujo has become a cornerstone of the defensive unit, leading to inevitable interest from across Europe's elite clubs looking to bolster their backlines.
However, despite the noise surrounding a possible departure, the message from his camp remains one of stability and contentment. His agent, Eduardo Crnjar, spoke about the player's current situation and how he feels about his surroundings in the North West of England. "Ronald is performing well , we're very happy with what he's offering, but it's still too early to talk about his future. He feels great, he's happy to be playing for Liverpool and helping the club and his teammates, as he's already said," Crnjar told WinWin Sports, as quoted by SPORT.
While the agent's comments provide some breathing room for the club, the broader context of the transfer market continues to loom over the situation. Several teams have been monitoring the Uruguayan's progress, aware that a defender of his calibre and age profile is a rare commodity in the modern game, especially given his proven track record in both La Liga and the Premier League.
The mention of a €55m valuation has frequently appeared in discussions regarding a potential transfer fee, a figure that many consider to be a bargain for a player of his international standing. Liverpool, however, would likely demand a significantly higher sum to even consider entering negotiations for a player who still has his best years ahead of him at the highest level of European football.

Angelique S. Chengelis, Connor Earegood, John Niyo, and Bob Wojnowski of The Detroit News predict the outcome of Saturday's Michigan-Rutgers game at SHI Stadium in Piscataway, New Jersey (12:30 p.m., Big Ten Network/94.7 FM).
▶ Angelique S. Chengelis: Rutgers coach Greg Schiano has always been tied to defense, but the Scarlet Knights have struggled defensively this season and ranks 128th in scoring. That could make this the "get-right" game for Michigan's offense, which is sorely in need of a confidence-building performance, especially from the run game and offensive line. Michigan's No. 3-ranked defense likely won't have the challenge it was expecting now that Rutgers QB Dylan Lonergan has been ruled out. He left last week's game at Northwestern in the first quarter because of a hit to the head and backup AJ Surace has struggled with six touchdowns against five interceptions this season. Michigan's defensive backs were expected to have their hands full facing 6-foot-6 receiver KJ Duff, but he is "doubtful" for the game, according to the Big Ten availability report. Pick: Michigan, 31-10
▶ Connor Earegood: Rejoice, Jason Beck. You're going to save your job this week. This Michigan offense may be wasting one of the nation's best defenses, but it will get an important tune-up against Rutgers. You know, the Rutgers team that lost to UMass, which is 1-3 in Mid-American Conference play. Oh, Rutgahs. Its availability report suggests some key starters will not play. Its starting QB is hurt, its star receiver is doubtful. A one-read quarterback could probably pick its defense apart at full strength. That's a good opponent for a true freshman in Tommy Carr to face in his second career start, after the **** er of the unknown wore off last week and showed you that maybe, just maybe, it isn't the guy under center who's the problem but rather the guy calling his plays. If Beck takes some inspiration from the Michigan Stadium videoboard and runs the ball between the tackles from time to time, Michigan should roll to an easy win. If it's another stinker, it will make for an interesting crowd in next week's rivalry game. Pick: Michigan, 34-7
▶ John Niyo: If Rutgers can't cure Michigan's offensive woes, nothing will. Greg Schiano's days appear numbered in Piscataway, and the statistical numbers make it obvious why: Rutgers ranks 128th nationally in scoring defense and has given up 161 points in four Big Ten games thus far. Of course, that's more points than the Wolverines have scored in seven games this season. But this defense should be the cure Michigan's inefficient run game needs, and no matter who's playing quarterback, there'll be opportunities to create explosive plays in the pass game. In four Big Ten games, Rutgers already has given up 15 plays of 30-plus yards. Pick: Michigan, 34-16
▶ Bob Wojnowski: There's no such thing as a breather for the Wolverines, with six of their seven games decided on the final possession. Last week's OT loss to Indiana wa

Cam Buffington has been the most consistent producer for Iowa's defense this season. He was rewarded for that consistency on Wednesday.
Buffington was named a semifinalist for the Butkus Award, which is given annually to the most impactful linebacker in college football. The third-year from Winfield, Iowa, joins 14 other players as semifinalists for the award named after Hall of Fame linebacker **** Butkus.
Buffington has 62 total tackles and two sacks for the Hawkeyes this season. The 6-foot-3, 238-pound linebacker is tied with Northwestern's Braydon Brus for the most total tackles in the Big Ten this season. He's come up huge numerous times for Phil Parker's defense, including a 15-tackle performance in a tight win over Iowa State.
Buffington is the leader of a defense that's given up the eighth-fewest points (14.3) and 14th-fewest yards (281.3) per game among all FBS teams this season. Iowa's defense has been elite, and Buffington is a massive part of it.
If he wins the Butkus Award, Buffington would join Jack Campbell as the only Hawkeyes to ever take home the hardware. Finalists for the Butkus Award will be announced on Nov. 20. The winner will be announced in early December.

Matchday 8 of the Bundesliga serves up it's showpiece event, from which Bulinews.com will be reporting live, as Bayern Munich welcome Borussia Dortmund to the Allianz Arena. Kick-off in the Topspiel game is scheduled for 18:30 CET.
Aside from injuries and Vincent Kompany's absence, things could hardly be much better for Bayern right now. They arrive into this fixture off the back of a 6-1 thrashing of 1.FC Magdeburg, with several key names rested.
One of which was their newly crowned Ballon d'Or winner, Harry Kane. Averaging a goal a game against BVB in six games to date, he will be hoping to add to that. The returning Kimmich and Pavlovic will likely help towards that.
The German record champions' recent record on home soil against the Westphalians also bodes well. Eight wins, one draw and a single loss to the Black and Yellows in their last 10 Bundesliga meetings at the Allianz Arena.

The Kansas City Chiefs might be without rookie defensive back Mansoor Delane during their Week 8 matchup against the Denver Broncos.
Delane — who joined Kansas City as the No. 6 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft — is said to be dealing with a shoulder injury and was a non-participant in the Chiefs' practice session on Thursday, October 29.
It is unclear if Delane will need to miss any time due to his condition, but fans in Kansas City should monitor the first-year standout's progress throughout the week to see if the Chiefs ****** ign him an official game status designation for the team's AFC West tilt with Denver.

A former LSU Tigers star, Delane has been among Kansas City's most impressive defenders this year and is expected to develop into a franchise player for the Chiefs as his NFL career progresses.

Azmatullah Omarzai produced a stunning rescue act with the bat, smashing a record-breaking century to help Afghanistan recover from a disastrous start and post 221/7 against Zimbabwe in the second T20I at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Thursday.

Walking in with Afghanistan reeling at 5/4, Omarzai launched a counter-attack that completely changed the course of the innings. He hammered 116 off just 50 **** , striking five fours and 12 sixes at an astonishing strike rate of 232.

With the effort, Omarzai registered the highest individual score by a batter coming in at No. 6 or lower in T20Is involving Full Member nations. He went past the previous record of 89, scored by former Afghanistan captain Mohammad Nabi against Ireland in 2017.

The record-breaking knock also put Omarzai ahead of Sam Billings (87 against West Indies in 2019), Cameron White (85 not out against Sri Lanka in 2010) and David Miller (85 not out against Pakistan in 2021) on the list.

Afghanistan's innings had been in complete disarray after Zimbabwe's bowlers reduced them to 5/4. Several top-order batters departed cheaply, while Sediqullah Atal managed just 17 off 21 deliveries before falling in the ninth over.

Omarzai found an ideal partner in Ijaz Ahmad Ahmadzai, and the duo launched a remarkable recovery. They added 142 runs off only 59 **** for the sixth wicket, with Ijaz contributing a blistering 52 off 27 deliveries, including five fours and three sixes.

The partnership was finally broken when Ijaz fell with the score at 180. Omarzai continued his **** ault before being dismissed in the 19th over, having already produced one of the finest rescue acts in Afghanistan's T20I history.

Captain Rashid Khan provided a spectacular finish, smashing an unbeaten 25 off just six **** , including four sixes. Mujeeb Ur Rahman remained not out on two as Afghanistan closed their innings at 221/7, scoring at 11.05 runs per over.

Rashid also achieved a major milestone during the match, becoming the first bowler to claim 200 wickets in T20Is.

Zimbabwe fall short despite Sikandar Raza's century

Zimbabwe were unable to overcome the imposing target despite a determined effort from captain Sikandar Raza, who scored his second T20I century.

Raza fought till the end, but the visitors ultimately fell short, with Afghanistan's early batting collapse proving to be a distant memory after Omarzai's extraordinary intervention.

Tafadzwa Tsiga offered valuable support on his debut, while the dismissal of Ryan Burl dealt another blow to Zimbabwe's hopes.

The victory also extended Afghanistan's remarkable dominance in the rivalry, marking their eighth consecutive T20I series win against Zimbabwe. The visitors are yet to win a T20I series against Afghanistan.

The Los Angeles Kings found a way to win a game they shouldn't have needed to find a way to win on Thursday night. They might have a change in coaching strategy to thank for that.
After blowing a 5-1 third-period lead, the Kings defeated the Ottawa Senators 6-5 in overtime behind Quinton Byfield's game-winner. But almost as interesting as the wild swings of the game was something Drew Doughty revealed after it ended.
"It's the first year in my whole career that we've ever actually worked on three-on-three," the Kings' captain said. "A lot of credit to the coaches in that area. We worked on it in camp. We worked on it before the season started, and they had a bit of a game plan, which we didn't really have before either. So a lot of credit to them for making us work on it."
If the Kings ever had an offseason where they needed to improve that aspect of their game, it was this past one. They lost an NHL-record 20 overtime and shootout games in 2025-26, a huge part of the reason they finished with the Western Conference's second wild-card spot and were swept out of the playoffs in the first round. First-year head coach Peter Laviolette came in and wanted to make sure the Kings didn't post those numbers again.
"There's definitely a method to the madness, and there's got to be a buy-in to that, and I think the players bought in," Laviolette said. "There's a lot of review that went through it, and there's things that we talk about prior to games and then after games — the overtime games — and reviewing that. And I think the players have done a really good job of executing them."

A roundup of Southwest Florida high school football games played in Week 11 on Thursday, Oct. 29 and Friday, Oct. 30, 2026.
After a challenging season with a young roster, the Red Knights went out on a high note.
Facing rival Fort Myers, North pounded the rock and came up with some key defensive scores for a running clock victory at Sam Sirianni Field on Thursday night.
"I feel great," North head coach Ira Riggins said. "This team has been through so much this year. It's just fun to see these guys come out and put it all together for the first time versus a very well-known team. Hat's off to Fort Myers – they've always been top notch in this area, and it's always good to get a win versus them."
The Greenies got on the board first, converting a successful onside kick into points on a 33-yard field goal by senior Brayden Russell.

After years of almost entirely focusing on the transfer portal, Rick Pitino is intensifying his efforts on the high school recruiting trail, and another class of 2027 prospect is landing on the Red Storm's radar.
Four-star Canadian recruit Godson Okokoh is reportedly scheduling a visit to St. John's on November 6 and 7, according to LeagueReady's Sam Kayser. It is unclear whether Okokoh will attend the Red Storm's matchup against Iona at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, November 8.
The 6-foot-8 forward from Ottawa is the 111th-ranked prospect in his class according to 247Sports' composite rankings and will compete in this year's Overtime Elite season with Bella Vista Prep, who will play as the City Reapers in the league. He flashed his rim protection and inside scoring in the Nike EYBL Scholastic division and the Under Armour Circuit last season, and also made a strong impression at this summer's NBPA Top 100 camp.
Okokoh made only one other visit this year at West Virginia on October 6. His offers include Kansas, Ohio State, USC, Oklahoma State, Missouri, Creighton, Georgia Tech, Cincinnati, and Arizona State.
Earlier this year, Okokoh helped Canada pull off a shocking upset over the United States to win its first-ever FIBA U18 AmeriCup gold medal. He averaged 9.0 points and 5.4 rebounds over five games and recorded a team-high eight boards in the championship final.

WESTERVILLE – Volleyball is a game of momentum, and winning the first set is crucial to a match.
Lancaster had all the momentum on its side in the first set against Dublin Coffman during the Central District Division I district championship game on Thursday, Oct. 29. However, the Lady Gales let the advantage slip away and never recovered in a hard-fought 26-24, 25-17, 25-19 loss at Westerville Central High School.
In the first set, the Gales had overcome a 20-19 deficit to take a 23-20 lead and looked like they were about to finish things off, but an unforced error gave the Shamrocks a little life they needed, and they outscored the Gales 6-1 to take the all-important first set.
From there, Lancaster seemed to be playing on its heels and never got into the rhythm during the next two sets.

On NCAA Selection Sunday this past March, the UNM Lobos were left on the outside looking in.
They had 23 wins and built a NET ranking of 46 (out of 365 Division I teams). That ranking — derived by the NCAA from a formula attempting to place a value on every regular season game — is one that will be even harder for the Lobos to replicate this season due to a new-look Mountain West that lost several quality opponents in league play.
UNM went 2-7 in Quad 1 games last season (Quad 1 is considered the highest quality game) and 6-1 in Quad 2 games by Selection Sunday (Quad 2 is still good, but to a lesser degree than Quad 1).
Six of UNM's nine Quad 1 games were against teams formerly in the Mountain West and now in the Pac-12.
UNM did manage this season to schedule Pac-12 defectors Utah State and Boise State in the nonconference, and in league games against Nevada and Grand Canyon — home and on the road — project to be high quality games still.

Count Jake LaCava among the New Mexico United players who figures to have less of a strenuous weekend.
And it has little to do with what could happen on the pitch in the club's Western Conference quarterfinal playoff match against rival Phoenix Rising FC at 4 p.m. Sunday. It's more so about what New Mexico will — or won't, rather — be doing beforehand to get there.
No traveling to the airport. No getting on a plane. Just a short drive to Isotopes Park.
"I'm personally afraid of flying," the defender said Thursday. "... I sit there and grip on for dear life, and pray for a landing. … So it takes a lot of stress off me."
Such is the benefit of being the No. 1 seed in the West and the home-field advantage that comes with it, something United secured with last Saturday's 1-0 win at El Paso Locomotive FC in the regular-season finale on midfielder Valentin Noël's fourth-minute stoppage-time goal.

Combined, the Yuba City and River Valley High girls volleyball teams had not won a Sac-Joaquin playoff match in nearly 20 years – a negative trend that changed Tuesday all across town.
– YC (20-9) held serve at home to win its first playoff match since 2015 with a four-set win over Buhach Colony to advance into the SJS Division III quarterfinals where it will face a familiar foe in Roseville (19-17) of the Foothill Valley League, at 6 p.m. today (Thursday) in Placer County. It is a four-five matchup, with Roseville the No. 4 seed in the bracket. Roseville has won eight straight over YC dating back the last four seasons. The Honkers' last win was 2022 when the current senior corps was still in eighth grade, according to records.
– RV (15-15) avenged last year's five-set playoff loss to Oakdale with a sweep at home Tuesday to advance into a quarterfinal date with No. 1 Ripon (25-4) at 6 p.m. in San Joaquin County. RV last faced Ripon in 2018 – the same year of its last postseason victory in the SJS playoffs when current head coach Samee Taylor was a senior setter/opposite attacker on the squad that finished 25-5 and won the Capital Valley Conference in the regular season. In the playoffs, Taylor and RV got to the 2018 quarterfinals where it was derailed by Del Oro in four sets.
Taylor was an everyday athlete, appearing in 55 sets for the Falcons that year. She collected 60 kills, 13 blocks and had 45 ******* ists.
– The top-seed in D-V won its 32nd match with a straight-set victory over Westlake Charter Tuesday in Sutter. The Huskies (32-5) host Linden, once the home of Yankees slugger Aaron Judge, at 6 p.m. today in the quarterfinals. Sutter has won 15 straight and only dropped one set since the High Sierra Tournament in Reno the first weekend in September.

As the Mountain West game between New Mexico and North Dakota State picked up steam on Saturday and Scottre Humphrey got his first carry for the Lobos, I thought:
That's another thing Montana State has done better than just about everyone else.
I don't know if any FCS team has been hit harder by the transfer portal through the years than the defending national champion Bobcats. But it certainly feels like the Cats absorb these losses better than most.
To date Montana State is 7-1, one win better than the 6-1 FBS Lobos who saw Humphrey — he rushed for 1,386 yards for the 2024 Bobcats and leads UNM with 453 this season — pick up 31 yards on 10 carries against the Bison. He scored a touchdown in the Lobos' 21-16 victory.
Earlier in the day the Bobcat tandem of Adam Jones and Jared White — the latter spelling Colson ***** , who was injured — tore off scoring runs of 27 and 57 yards in MSU's come-from-behind 38-33 win over Weber State.
