Citi has begun coverage of the newly listed The Magnum Ice Cream Company (EURONEXT:MICC, LSE:MICC, NYSE:MICC) with a lukewarm "neutral" rating, warning that the maker of the eponymous chocolate-coated lollies faces a tougher year ahead after a **** per summer.
The broker set a target price of €17.7 on the shares, arguing that kind weather and solid delivery on cost cuts have already pushed Magnum's valuation up to broadly match its European food peers, leaving little room for further gains.
Citi's central doubt is whether the good times can last. A durable re-rating, it said, takes more than one strong season, and history suggests companies leaning on cost-saving stories rarely hold on to lofty valuations for long.
Several clouds loom over next year. The broker flagged the risk that El Niño weather patterns push up ingredient costs in the second half of 2027, which could expose how sensitive take-home ice cream sales are to price rises.
It also cited the spread of GLP-1 weight-loss drugs as a potential drag on demand, alongside the usual uncertainty over weather comparisons.

September's debate over Chinese and American AI spending puts Alibaba Group Holding Limited (NYSE:BABA) and Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) on opposite sides of the same investment question. Both report strong demand for computing services. Shareholders still need that demand to justify the infrastructure bill.
September 7 coverage of Jefferies' ***** ysis highlighted differences in spending intensity. The companies' own results suggest a more useful test than choosing a winner from headline capital expenditures: distinguish operating progress from cash committed ahead of future growth.
Alibaba's August 20 report showed June-quarter AI Cloud and Compute Services revenue increasing 45% to RMB48.44 billion. Segment adjusted EBITA reached RMB5.63 billion. The reporting group now combines its former Cloud Intelligence Group with T-Head, so investors should use the company's recast comparisons.
That operating improvement supports the case that computing demand can generate returns. It does not mean the spending cycle has already paid for itself. Group capital expenditures reached RMB67.68 billion, while free cash flow, a non-GAAP liquidity measure, was negative RMB44.67 billion for the quarter.
The opportunity is to keep expanding customer demand and utilization as new infrastructure becomes available. The risk is that cash outlays remain elevated while weaker returns elsewhere in the group reduce the room for error. Cloud growth alone cannot settle the value of the entire business.

Nvidia (NVDA) reported blockbuster second-quarter fiscal 2027 results on Aug. 26, led by a solid surge in data-center revenue, which climbed by a whopping 117% year-over-year (YOY) to $89 billion. With the data-center business making up more than 90% of its top line, Nvidia has capitalized on the fact that more companies need large GPU clusters.
While the semiconductor industry leader faces "threats" that its near-monopoly on advanced artificial intelligence (AI) chips may be coming to an end, Nvidia remains the primary beneficiary of the AI boom. The company is also reportedly set to buy open-source AI platform Hugging Face for $12.9 billion, aligning with CEO Jensen Huang's strategy of building the AI world on the American stack.

NEW YORK, Aug 26 (Reuters) - Former JPMorgan Chase executive Jes Staley told U.S. lawmakers he repeatedly shared confidential and market-sensitive bank information with Jeffrey Epstein and was at one point ‌named as a trustee of his estate, according to a transcript released by the U.S. Congress House ‌Oversight Committee.

Staley also admitted to sharing other confidential information about JPMorgan with Epstein, according to the transcript.

Samsung Electronics stock dropped 9% on Monday as the company's shareholder return plan left investors underwhelmed, with many having hoped for a more aggressive buyback commitment and clearer guidance on how remaining capital would be deployed.
Samsung announced on Friday that its total shareholder returns for the year would fall in a range of 90 trillion won to 110 trillion won ($65 billion to $80 billion), with 30 trillion won of that coming as cash dividends paid out in the third quarter. The company said its board will determine remaining payouts in January 2027, with cash dividends, share buybacks, and share cancellations all under consideration.
Despite the total being five times what Samsung returned in its prior peak year of 2020, ******* ysts said the numbers missed their projections and that the lack of detail around buyback mechanics left investors wanting more, according to Reuters.
A key complication: Samsung's ownership structure limits how much it can deploy through buybacks. Any significant buyback program risks lifting the ownership stakes of affiliates Samsung Life and Samsung Fire past the regulatory ceiling, which would then require those entities to offload shares in order to stay within the 10% combined limit. That constraint means the lion's share of the outstanding 60 trillion won to 80 trillion won is forecast to be returned via dividends, while share buybacks and cancellations together may account for just 10 trillion won to 20 trillion won, according to Reuters.
"Unlike SK Hynix, Samsung Electronics did not mention the possibility of raising its existing shareholder return policy, nor did it announce a plan to cancel treasury shares that could more directly contribute to the stock price increase, which is disappointing," Sohn In-joon, an ******* yst at Eugene Securities, said in a report cited by Reuters.

Fairfax Financial of Canada, viewed as a leading contender for the government's stake in IDBI Bank, may be permitted up to two years to bring its banking holdings in India into line with regulations, Reuters has reported.
The planned disposal of a majority holding in IDBI Bank by the federal government and state insurer Life Insurance Corp of India (LIC) has moved into the final phase after a prolonged process.
Reuters said the deal is valued at more than $5 bn and would rank as the largest foreign investment in an Indian bank.
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) rules do not allow one entity to own and run two separate banks. Fairfax holds about 40% of CSB Bank, a smaller lender.
Two sources cited by Reuters said the investor could be given as long as two years to either exit that CSB position or combine CSB with IDBI Bank.

On August 11, eToro Group Ltd. (NASDAQ:ETOR) reported second-quarter results that read like a company trying to become more than a trading app. Net contribution rose 9% year over year to $229 million, and on the same day the company said it would buy US broker-dealer TradeZero for up to $230 million in cash and stock. Together, the earnings and the deal point to the same question hanging over ETOR: is the platform's growing list of businesses reinforcing each other, or is the company buying growth it might have found on its own?
eToro's core pitch is that users never have to leave the platform no matter where the market's attention goes, and the second quarter backed that up. As investor activity rotated from crypto into commodities and then into equities, net trading contribution from capital markets jumped 25% year over year to $142 million, and the number of trades rose 64% year over year. Funded accounts grew 18% year over year to 4.28 million, climbing further to 4.32 million in July, while ***** ets under administration reached more than $19 billion for the quarter. Adjusted diluted earnings per share came in at $0.68, up from $0.56 a year earlier, and the company closed the quarter with $1.2 billion in cash and short-term investments after generating $39 million from operations. eToro also used some of that cash to repurchase roughly 2.3 million shares for about $87 million during the quarter.
The TradeZero deal adds to that momentum. The broker generated approximately $80 million in revenue over the trailing twelve months with gross margins above 80% in the second quarter of 2026, and eToro expects the acquisition to be accretive to adjusted earnings per share in its first full year once it closes, a step targeted for the first half of 2027. Other parts of the business are scaling just as fast: etoro Money's contribution grew 44% year over year to $26 million as total money transfers rose 92% year over year, card issuance across Europe climbed more than 30% quarter over quarter, and ***** ets in the company's savings product grew fifteen-fold year over year.
Not every part of the business moved in the same direction. Net trading contribution from crypto fell to just $11 million, a decline that included a $2 million negative valuation hit on eToro's own corporate crypto holdings, leaving that balance at $30 million by quarter's end. The pullback carried into the next quarter: July ***** ets under administration slipped to $18.5 billion, down 5% year over year as crypto prices fell, and the number of trades in July came in flat compared to a year earlier.

Mortgage rates rose to their highest level in a year amid the re-escalating conflict with Iran and investors grew more worried about the Federal Reserve's plans to tame inflation.
The average 30-year mortgage rate rose 8 basis points to 6.66% this week through Wednesday, according to Freddie Mac data, hitting its highest level since the end of July 2025.
Rates are likely to go higher from here. Government bond yields, which mortgage rates closely track, surged on Wednesday after the Federal Reserve opted to hold short-term interest rates steady, with three voting members supporting a hike.
Bond investors, worried about the Fed's commitment to taming inflation, sold off long-term Treasuries, sending the 30-year Treasury yield to its highest level in nearly two decades. The 10-year Treasury yield, which has the closest relationship with mortgage rates, jumped more than 4 basis points on Thursday to 4.67%.

Oil prices surged more than 7% on Wednesday as renewed U.S.-Iran hostilities and fresh threats to shipping through the Bab el-Mandeb pushed WTI above $84 and Brent toward $90, confronting the Federal Reserve with another inflation shock just hours before one of its most uncertain interest-rate decisions in years.
The rally accelerated after President Donald Trump vaguely told Fox News that the United States would "hit Iran hard" following an attack on a U.S. base in Jordan, while Iran-backed Houthis weighed imposing fees on commercial shipping through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and U.S.-Saudi forces launched fresh strikes against Houthi positions in Yemen.
Brent crude was up 7.06% at 9:29a.m. ET Wednesday, reaching $90.03, while WTI was trading up 6.95%, at $84.77.
The renewed geopolitical premium comes just hours before the Federal Reserve announces its latest interest-rate decision, with markets divided over whether policymakers will leave rates unchanged or deliver the first rate increase since 2023. Investors are also looking for clues from Chairman Kevin Warsh after the Fed abandoned the forward guidance that had shaped market expectations for more than two decades.
June's inflation report eased pressure on the Federal Reserve after lower oil prices helped cool headline inflation during the brief lull in the Iran war, but that relief appears to have been short-lived. With crude prices once again flirting with $90 as fighting resumes, investors are divided over whether policymakers will leave interest rates unchanged or respond to renewed inflation risks.

Growth in last-mile delivery for big and bulky e-commerce items has slowed by half because stagnant home sales mean people are ordering fewer large-ticket discretionary items like furniture and appliances, cutting into profit margins, according to a report from Armstrong & ******* ociates and the National Home Delivery ******* ociation.
Armstrong & ******* ociates estimated the $10.6 billion market for residential delivery of oversized and heavyweight items will grow at a 5.1% compound annual rate through 2027, down from 10.6% over the past eight years, reaching an estimated value of $12.3 billion. Winning service providers will be those that can best execute core, commoditized services such as white-glove delivery, time-definite, returns and in-home ******* embly.
The expansion continues to be driven by major retailers and e-commerce platforms, including Amazon, Wayfair, Home Depot and Lowe's, which have made large-format products central to their online offerings. As more consumers purchase ******* bersome products online, carriers face growing pressure to provide not just transportation to the curb, but a premium, in-home delivery experience that may include setup, installation, and even haul-away services, while keeping costs under control, the report said.

Its history in market shocks reveals a pattern of deep falls and long recoveries that every shareholder should understand.
Bloom Energy (BE) stock fell 8.3% on July 20th, a sharp move for any holder. But to understand the risk you are carrying, you have to look past a single session. This is a company at the center of the AI buildout, providing clean, on-site power solutions for data centers, highlighted by a landmark deal with Oracle for its Project Jupiter. The market is weighing that strong demand, which led management to raise its 2026 revenue guidance to a range of $3.4 billion to $3.8 billion, against the significant operational challenge of scaling its manufacturing to meet it.
That recent dip is a minor tremor. The real question for a shareholder is how this stock behaves in a true major market downturn. When the entire market sells off, how far does Bloom Energy fall, and how long does it take to climb back? Can you ride that out?
A 78% Fall During The Covid Crash
When the broad market falls, Bloom Energy stock tends to fall much further. Across the seven major market shocks it has traded through, the stock's average peak-to-trough drop was about 49%, compared to just 17% for the S&P 500. That amplified downside is the core risk.

Ninety-two percent of CFOs and top finance executives feel pressure to show that investment in artificial intelligence yields a decent return, and only 7% say their organization focuses more on AI governance than speed of adoption, Avalara discovered through a survey.
Forty-four percent of respondents are only somewhat confident they could explain the actions of an AI agent to an auditor or regulator, and 76% say their organizations lack the in-house expertise sufficient to understand how their AI operates, Avalara, a provider of AI tax compliance software, said Tuesday.
"Nearly every leader we surveyed feels personal pressure to prove these investments are delivering," Avalara Executive Vice President Jayme Fishman said in a statement. "Meanwhile, the controls, expertise and accountability meant to sit underneath them are still being built."
Worldwide spending on AI will surge 47% this year to $2.6 trillion from $1.76 trillion in 2025, according to Gartner, exceeding the gross domestic product of both Canada and Australia. By 2030, AI investment will rise 120% more to $5.62 trillion.

Mexico's heavy-duty truck manufacturing sector showed renewed momentum in June, with production and exports rising year over year after more than a year of sluggish performance.
Manufacturers in Mexico ***** embled 15,262 heavy-duty trucks and buses during June, a 7.6% increase from the same month in 2025, according to from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) and the National ***** ociation of Bus, Truck and Tractor-Trailer Producers (Anpact).
Exports of Mexican-made trucks climbed 3.2% year over year to 12,730 units. Nearly all of Mexico's heavy-duty vehicle exports continue to be destined for the United States, making U.S. freight demand the industry's primary growth driver.
"June closed with clear signs of recovery," Anpact President Rogelio Arzate said during a news conference on June 9.
The June performance also marked the first time since August 2024 that Mexico's heavy-duty vehicle industry recorded year-over-year growth simultaneously in wholesale sales, production, exports and retail sales, according to Anpact.

Heartland Advisors, an investment management company, released its second-quarter 2026 investor letter for "Heartland Mid Cap Value Fund". A copy can be downloaded here. Mid-cap stocks sharply rose in the second quarter, driven by perceived AI beneficiaries, particularly in Technology. The Fund returned 9.90% in the quarter, compared to the Russell Midcap® Value Index's 13.40% return. The underperformance was driven by negative stock selection despite Tech being one of the top absolute return contributors. In the challenging environment, the Fund remains focused on its disciplined approach to security selection. In addition, you can check the Fund's top 5 holdings to determine its best picks for 2026.
In its Q2 2026 investor letter, Heartland Mid Cap Value Fund highlighted International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. (NYSE:IFF). International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. (NYSE:IFF) is a specialty chemical company that manufactures products across food, beverage, health and biosciences, scent, pharma solutions, and complementary adjacent products. On July 14, 2026, International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. (NYSE:IFF) closed at $74.67 per share, reflecting a market capitalization of $19.06 billion. International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. Heartland Mid Cap Value Fund stated the following regarding International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. (NYSE:IFF) in its Q2 2026 investor update:
"Materials. A new deep-value holding is International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. (NYSE:IFF), a specialty ingredient producer that sells flavors, fragrances, and enzymes to food, beverage, personal care, household products, and human health product manufacturers. This is an example of identifying a self-help opportunity through bottom-up research.
For more than two years, management has worked on streamlining IFF's portfolio and operations to focus on higher-margin businesses where it enjoys leading market share, better pricing power, attractive growth, and significantly enhanced capital allocation flexibility. This strategy follows years of wayward capital allocation executed by prior management. Today, IFF's revenue is evenly split across three segments. Taste accounts for 30% of profits, Health & Biosciences generates 37%, and Scent contributes 32%. In the Scent segment, IFF's pioneering of encapsulated fragrance technology secured its leadership in fabric care, a position now expanding into scent boosters, shampoos, and body washes.

European dealmaking was more durable than its global counterparts in the second quarter of this year, holding up amid a wave of geopolitical uncertainty that hit other major markets much harder.
European M&A value fell 6.4% QoQ in Q2 to $344 billion, a shallower decline than the 24.3% drop recorded in North America, according to PitchBook's Q2 2026 Global M&A Report. Deal count moved in the opposite direction, up 0.9% in Europe to 5,061, even as it fell an estimated 7.3% in North America.
The resilience has been building for a year, as both sponsors and corporate acquirers have increasingly targeted Europe in search of higher returns. The region's fragmentation, need for localized expertise, and lower entry multiples than North America have made it an attractive hunting ground. At the same time, large family-owned businesses based in countries such as Italy and Spain remain largely untapped by PE.
That resilience showed up most clearly in B2B, Europe's strongest sector of the quarter, where deal value rose 35.6% quarter-over-quarter to $129 billion. Two megadeals accounted for roughly a third of the region's B2B deal value: Finnish elevator maker Kone, together with existing investors Advent International and Cinven, agreed to buy German rival TK Elevator for $34.3 billion in April, while EQT agreed to take product-testing firm Intertek private for $14.6 billion at a 62% premium to its listed shares in June.

With a trailing 12-month yield near 48%, the question every QDTE holder needs answered is not whether the checks will keep arriving, but whether they will keep arriving at anything close to today's size.

The fund's past suggests deep pullbacks often rebound, but what's inside the basket makes this time a unique decision.
Of the 5 times the ARK Next Generation Internet ETF (ARKW) has fallen this steeply, 4 were followed by a positive return over the next twelve months. That is the kind of record that makes a dip feel like an opportunity. With the fund currently down about 17.7% from its 52-week high, you are likely weighing whether its history of bouncing back is a reliable guide, or if this time is different.
A dip can be a gift in a broad, diversified fund. In a concentrated one, it can be a trap. The question is where ARKW sits on that spectrum, and its own past offers a mixed verdict.
What Did Those Recoveries Actually Look Like?
The historical record is encouraging, but not without its sharp edges. For those four successful recoveries, the median return in the twelve months after a dip was +30%. But that median hides a wide spread of outcomes. Across all five instances, the one-year returns ranged from a painful negative 65% to a strong +61%. This tells us that while the odds have favored a rebound, the ride has been anything but uniform. Past dips, like the ones in December 2021 and April 2023, presented similar crossroads for investors.
