The Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga clubs distributed more tickets during the 2025/26 campaign than in any previous season, according to the latest spectator report released by the DFL. The 36 professional clubs registered a combined total of 21,404,258 tickets, including complimentary and honorary admissions. This amounted to an average of 34,974 tickets per fixture, representing a new record across Germany's top two divisions.
The Bundesliga alone recorded 12,718,097 distributed tickets, an increase of 9.1 percent compared with the previous campaign. The average top-flight attendance rose from 38,082 to 41,562. The return of Hamburg and 1. FC Köln contributed significantly to the increase. Both promoted clubs possess large stadiums and substantial supporter bases, while relegated sides VfL Bochum and Holstein Kiel operated with considerably smaller capacities.
Another rise can be anticipated during the forthcoming campaign following Schalke 04's promotion back to the Bundesliga.

Liverpool's first pre-season outing of the summer was already going to carry curiosity, because a new head coach always brings questions, fresh ideas and a sense of reset. Yet Saturday's meeting with Sunderland now carries something far more important. As reported by BBC Sport, both clubs will honour Kevin Keegan with black armbands and a minute's applause before kick-off.

New Hamburg attacking addition Patson Daka bid the Bundesliga a spirited ****** o on Friday. Following his arrival at HSV's Austrian training camp, new striker Patson Daka has spoken about his decision to join the Bundesliga club and his determination to escape the difficult period that stalled his career at Leicester City.
The 27-year-old joined HSV on a free transfer after Leicester's relegation to the English third tier. Derby County have signed Filip Bilbija on a three-year deal after the attacking midfielder left Paderborn following their promotion to the German Bundesliga.
The 26-year-old played a crucial role in returning Paderborn to the top flight, scoring the equaliser in the second leg of their play-off decider against Wolfsburg which was eventually won in extra time.
Bilbija scored 17 goals across all competitions last season, in what was the most prolific showing on his career to date after netting nine goals in each of his previous two campaigns.
The German forward, who came through at Ingolstadt and spent a season with Hamburg SV before joining Paderborn in the summer of 2023, had been linked with a move to Werder Bremen when his contract was running down last season.

Hamburg have officially confirmed the signing of Zambia striker Patson Daka. Multiple sources report that another addition is set to be unveiled shortly. Moroccan midfielder Bilal Nadir will also join the Bundesliga outfit on free transfer. Kicker, Sport Bild, and the Hamburger Morgenpost all confirm that a deal to acquire Nadir is effetely done. Nadir arrives from French first division side Olympique Marseille.
Nadir – an €8m-valuced player- is said to have a profile similar to that of departed leading goalscorer Fabio Vieira. Former Germany international Lewis Holtby has announced the end of his career on Tuesday. The 35-year-old last played for Eredivisie side NAC Breda, where he regularly featured after his last Bundesliga experience with Holstein Kiel.
The central midfielder previously played for Schalke, Bochum, Mainz and Hamburg in Germany's top-flight league. He also appeared in over 100 2. Bundesliga games with three clubs.
A Fritz Walter gold medalist at the U19 age group in 2009, Holtby also played for English clubs Tottenham Hotspur, Fulham and Blackburn Rovers. After making his Bundesliga breakthrough with Thomas Tuchel's Mainz in the 2010/11 season, he won his only trophy when Schalke beat fierce rivals Borussia Dortmund in the 2012 German Supercup.
Holtby scored 26 goals in 225 Bundesliga games. The Erkelenz native played three times for the Germany national team, with his only competitive appearance coming as a late substitute in a 3-1 win over Azerbaijan during the Euro 2012 qualifiers.
"It's time to say goodbye. After almost 20 years as a pro, my active career ends today. I leave the pitch with pride, humility, and endless gratitude. It’s fair to say that Luka Vušković has been on quite the rise over the last few seasons. Now having completed a £50m move to Brighton & Hove Albion, the Croatian is set to embark on the next chapter of his career at a club that has seen so many players thrive over the past few years.

Spurs could receive an additional £4m in add-on fees, taking the overall fee to £50 million, and the deal includes a 20 per cent sell-on clause.

It’s done. Well, it’s been done for a while but now it’s official. Tottenham Hotspur formally announced the departure of defender Luka Vuskovic to Brighton & Hove Albion. Vuskovic is excellent in the air and positionally solid, but his speed is something of a concern in the fast-paced Premier League. Named to Croatia’s World Cup squad, Vuskovic and his agents started making noise this summer about wanting to leave the club, eventually leading to where we are now.
£50m+ for a 19-year-old defender who hasn’t played in the Premier League yet is very good money, and Tottenham made the decision to cash in on his potential rather than keep a potentially unhappy future star on the bench. Vuskovic clearly just wanted to play ball, and he’ll have a much better chance of getting regular playing time at Brighton (replacing Jan Paul van Hecke, now at Spurs) than if he stayed in north London. I would’ve wished for a buy-back clause in the deal, but getting 20% of any future sale is a nice cherry on top of the cake.
I wish I could’ve seen Luka play for us at least once, but that’s not to be. Tottenham made a business decision with Vuskovic, and considering the outlay they’ve already spent on transfers this summer, it’s not a dumb move from a business perspective. Arsenal have signed Lisa Baum from RB Leipzig, with the 19-year-old winger becoming the fifth women’s signing of the summer so far.
Baum joins after making 26 appearances and scoring six goals during her only season with RB Leipzig. Before that, she made 68 appearances and scored 21 goals for Hamburger SV, earning her move to the Bundesliga club in the summer of 2025.
At international level, Baum has represented Germany from Under-17 through to Under-23 level.
She will wear the No 19 shirt, vacated by Caitlin Foord.

Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler says the Seagulls have followed Luka Vuskovic's "fantastic start to his career" and are looking forward to helping him break into the Premier League now that his transfer is complete.
Vuskovic, who has signed from Tottenham on a five-year-deal, spent last season on loan at Hamburg and was named in the Bundesliga team of the year.
The 19-year-old has six senior caps for Croatia and started against England in the opening group match of the World Cup.

After FC St. Pauli's relegation from the Bundesliga, Nikola Vasilj announced that he would be leaving the club as a free agent following the expiration of his contract. Now, it appears the 30-year-old goalkeeper has found a new employer.
According to Bild and Hamburger Morgenpost, Vasilj is set to join newly-promoted Saudi Pro League side Al-Diriyah.
Following a successful medical, the Bosnia and Herzegovina international has reportedly signed a two-year contract with the Saudi club.
Vasilj spent a total of five years with St. Pauli, making a total of 167 appearances.
Most recently, he started all four of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s matches at the World Cup, where they were knocked out by co-hosts the United States in the round of 32.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz will travel to the Wimbledon final on Sunday, tennis star Alexander Zverev said after his straight-sets semi-final win over British outsider Arthur Fery.
Merz had called his manager and announced that he would come with his wife, the 29-year-old German said on Friday. "If something happens in Europe at short notice now, then probably not," Zverev added.
The French Open champion is the first German male tennis player in the final of the London grass Grand Slam tournament since Boris Becker in 1995. Zverev could become the first German Wimbledon men's singles champion since Michael Stich in 1991.

Holger Rune will not be able to make his comeback from injury at Wimbledon, the Danish tennis player has said.
Former world number four Rune ruptured his Achilles tendon in October during a match against Frenchman Ugo Humbert in Stockholm and he said in a statement late Thursday he is not quite ready yet to return.
Rune had initially planned to return last month at the Hamburg clay court event but was stopped by knee problems.
"Missing Wimbledon is not an easy decision, but the long-term goal remains unchanged: To return stronger and ready to compete at the highest level," Rune said late Thursday on Instagram.
"I am getting closer every day, and it is very satisfying to feel the progress.

Several metal fragments were found on a section of the cycling course during a triathlon Ironman race in Hamburg, police said on Sunday.
Police said about 50 participants had to stop due to bike defects, while media reports said up to 150 triathletes had to interrupt their race.
The professional field, which included the finale of the women's European championship, was not affected.

Holders Bayern Munich have been drawn away to second-tier newcomers VfL Osnabrück in the German Cup first round in September.
Osnabrück recently won the third division.
