The final piece of the deal was revealed Wednesday, with Baltimore acquiring minor league outfielder Harold Rivas from Boston as the player to be named later.

Queen Elizabeth was famous for her love of corgis, which started when she received a Pembroke Welsh named Susan when she was 18 years old. Susan remained by her side during pivotal moments in her life, including her marriage to Prince Philip, losing her dad and becoming monarch in 1952.
The significance her dog played in her life was highlighted in a note she sent to veterinarian Harold Swann after Susan's death.
"I would like to thank you for all you did for my dear old Susan when she became ill, and for the immense amount of trouble you took in getting her sent to Cambridge and for all the care she had while she was there," the letter read. "I had always dreaded losing her as I had had her since she was six weeks old, but I am ever so thankful that her suffering was so mercifully short."

The Atlanta Falcons have a few big question marks on defense as they prepare for their preseason opener next week. With linebacker Jalon Walker officially out for the season due to a torn ACL, and James Pearce Jr. facing a possible suspension, Atlanta's pass rush may have trouble replicating last year's success.

New England Patriots rookie edge rusher Gabe Jacas sent a message to supporters of the franchise after the team's ninth training camp practice of the summer.
According to 98.5 The Sports Hub, Jacas stated before reporters on Tuesday that he is determined to play at the highest level possible in 2026.
"I just want to let all the Patriots fans know that I'm behind everybody and you're going to get the best player out of me each and every game," Jacas said. "And just, anything I can do to help the team win, I'm going to do it, whatever it takes."
Jacas signed his rookie deal with the Patriots on July 26, nearly three months after getting drafted by the Patriots with the No. 55 overall pick on Day 2 of the 2026 NFL Draft. He took the practice field for the first time with the team this summer during training camp.

TotalEnergies has also taken over operations of the massive Mopane discovery from Portugal's Galp Energia (OTCPK:GLPEF).
Last month, Shell Plc (NYSE:SHEL) and its JV partners reported a major oil discovery at the Merlin-1X exploration well within Petroleum Exploration Licence 39 (PEL 39). Located in Namibia's Orange Basin roughly 290 kilometers off the coast, the resource has recoverable reserves estimated at 750 million barrels for Phase 1. The success of Merlin-1X marks a critical turnaround for the consortium.

After finishing the season 5-12, the 2025 Cleveland Browns struggled to find an identity. With three different quarterbacks starting over the course of the season and inconsistent offensive play throughout, the team often appeared to lack a clear direction. The team had reached a point where meaningful changes were necessary to shake things up.
Going into the 2026 season, one of the biggest changes the team made was bringing in new head coach Todd Monken. Regardless of who returns to the field, the team will have a different look under its new leadership. While there is still uncertainty at quarterback, Shedeur Sanders is returning with a year of experience under his belt, and Deshaun Watson is returning from injury.
Cleveland GM Andrew Berry also invested heavily in the offensive line all offseason, while long standing veterans Joel Bitonio, Wyatt Teller, and David Njoku are no longer on the team.
The young players like Carson Schwesinger and Harold Fannin Jr., who had really impressive rookie seasons, have a great opportunity to build on what they did in 2025. Additionally, the Browns' 2026 draft class impressed many and brings another level of potential to what this team can be.
Both seasons come with plenty of uncertainty, but the 2026 roster has a clearer vision and more upside, while the 2025 team seemed stuck repeating an approach that had already proven ineffective.

Cleveland GM Andrew Berry also invested heavily in the offensive line all offseason, while long standing veterans Joel Bitonio, Wyatt Teller, and David Njoku are no longer on the team.
The young players like Carson Schwesinger and Harold Fannin Jr., who had really impressive rookie seasons, have a great opportunity to build on what they did in 2025. Additionally, the Browns' 2026 draft class impressed many and brings another level of potential to what this team can be.
Both seasons come with plenty of uncertainty, but the 2026 roster has a clearer vision and more upside, while the 2025 team seemed stuck repeating an approach that had already proven ineffective.

For all of Metcalf's talent, he'll probably miss out on 1,000 yards for the third straight season.
We think of the Bengals as a carnival team (fun offense, leaky defense) and that means it's a blast to invest in the passing game. But save some room for Chase Brown, too. The Patriots put three players on injury lists earlier this week and head coach Mike Vrabel said that a fourth will be joining them.
Vrabel said at his Friday press conference that safety/special teamer Brenden Schooler will go on the non-football injury list to open training camp. Vrabel did not share the nature of the issue that Schooler is dealing with, but said "he may be away for a little bit or out for a little bit."
Schooler had 19 tackles in the 2025 regular season and added six more in the playoffs. He was an All-Pro for his special teams work in 2024.
Linebacker Harold Landry and tight end C.J. Dippre are on the physically unable to perform list while running back Terrell Jennings joins Schooler on NFI.

Browns fans are expecting big things from Harold Fannin this year. After his impressive rookie season with 731 yards receiving, fans are predicting him to be in the 800-1,000 yard receiving range. For some of the league's elite tight ends, that's not too far-fetched. In fact, Travis Kelce has done it all 11 seasons he's been in the NFL. However, David Njoku, who was viewed as an explosive receiving tight end for Cleveland, only surpassed 800 yards once in his 9 years with the team. It's easy to jump to that being more indicative of the Browns' quarterback situation as opposed to the talent of the tight end himself.
Nonetheless, the most important part here is that Fannin is viewed as a big-time weapon for this offense. As a rookie, he showed a nice mix of acrobatic catches and the strength to generate yards after the catch that didn't seem like they were even there. If there's one negative on his receiving game as a rookie, it would be that, in my opinion, he sometimes dropped the easy ones.
To grow his game over time, he'll need to be a better in-line blocking tight end. It took Njoku a few years to get to that point. For now, we'll see how Todd Monken's offense utilizes Fannin. Will he be kept in the slot more often like he was as a rookie, with one of the other guys on the depth chart taking on a heavier blocking role?

And because of the immediate success he saw as a rookie, he already has the threat level raised around the NFL and has earned the respect of coaches, scouts, and executives.
While he did not crack the top-10 of tight ends around the NFL in ESPN's anonymous polling of personnel, he did receive a shoutout as an honorable mention in the annual rankings. Here is what one NFC executive had to say on the second-year tight end from Bowling Green:

Berry rebuilt the entire offensive line, highlighted by first-round selection Spencer Fano at left tackle, along with veteran additions Tytus Howard, Elgton Jenkins, and Zion Johnson. And, for good measure, they added tackle Austin Barber and center Parker Brailsford later in the draft.
The pass catchers also received an extreme makeover with the selections of wide receivers KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston and tight ends Joe Royer and Carsen Ryan, to go with incumbents Jerry Jeudy and Harold Fannin Jr.
Put all those together with returning running backs Quinshon Judkins, Dylan Sampson and Raheim Sanders, and the Browns appear to have a solid core on offense. They may not be fully unlocked until Berry solves the quarterback position in 2027 (or later, since this is still the Browns), but, overall, it looks like the Browns are on track.

CHICAGO (AP) — As the White Sox were slugging their way to a 22-1 victory over the Royals on Friday night, former player Ron Kittle was getting married in a ballpark suite with Chicago chairman Jerry Reinsdorf officiating.
Kittle tied the knot with his girlfriend, Barbara, in Reinsdorf’s suite during Chicago’s 10-run third inning. The White Sox went on to score their most runs since a 22-13 victory at Boston on May 31, 1970.
“He’s so superstitious he might marry somebody today in the bottom of the third,” Kittle, the 1983 AL Rookie of the Year, said Saturday about Reinsdorf.
Harold Baines and Greg Walker, Kittle’s teammates on the 1983 White Sox squad, and their spouses also attended the quick ceremony.
“My better half doesn’t want any notoriety, recognition. She wants to keep it to herself,” Kittle said. “But I invited Harold Baines and his wife and Greg Walker and his wife, and we did it and I was pretty excited. I think Jerry is excited. We’ve become a family over the years.”

The New England Patriots may need another edge rusher this offseason.
Patriots rookie linebacker Gabe Jacas is dealing with an injury to his knee, which he had a procedure on this spring, and is the only second-round pick from this year’s draft class that has yet to sign with their respective team. Though New England is in good hands with Harold Landry and Dre’Mont Jones on the edge, a third star added to the rotation stands to benefit the team greatly in 2026.
According to Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay, the Patriots are the perfect landing spot for star free agent edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney.
“The New England Patriots are a fantastic fit for Clowney,” Kay said. “The team needs to bolster the edge after coming up just short of a Super Bowl last season, adding some firepower to combat the top-tier opposing signal-callers the squad is set to come up against during the 2026 campaign.”
Clowney played at a high level last season in his 12th year in the league. The South Carolina native recorded 8.5 sacks across only 13 games played, six of which he started for the Dallas Cowboys in 2025. He was a disruptor in the pass rush and showed that he’s still a high-end edge rusher in the league.

New England ranked in the top 10 in the league in pressure rate in 2025, but its top sack producers, Landry and K’Lavon Chaisson, only combined for 16 sacks, and a team total of 35 — tying for 22nd in the league. Evidently, the team felt it could upgrade and let Chaisson walk in free agency.
On May 29, appearing on NFL Live, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler listed the Patriots as a potential “sleeper” trade candidate for the New York Giants’ former fifth overall selection in 2022, Kayvon Thibodeaux. New England may also have some ammunition in return, with wide receiver Kayshon Boutte showing apparent interest in a trade out of Foxboro.
With uncertainty currently looming over a group that needed more production, another addition makes sense.

“Un-freaking-believable,” he said with a laugh.
Teagan Kavan entered the circle in the sixth inning for Texas on Thursday night in Game 2 of the Women’s College World Series final. Her Longhorns had a narrow one-run lead over Texas Tech, needing six outs to halt any comeback from the Red Raiders and seal back-to-back national championships for Texas.
Kavan slammed the door shut, extinguishing Texas Tech's hopes of piecing together a late rally. She struck out all three batters she faced in the sixth inning, sitting them down one-by-one. In the seventh, she got Lagi Quiroga to groundout to shortstop, then fanned Mia Williams and Mihyia Davis.
When Kavan’s final pitch met the glove of Reese Atwood after whizzing by Davis’ bat, she pumped her fists, tossed her mask and glove and jumped into Atwood’s arms. The Longhorns had their second WCWS **** le.
