Jack Draper has pulled out of this week's Mubadala DC Open with an arm injury, tournament officials have announced.
It is the latest setback for the 24-year-old, who has been dogged by fitness issues throughout the year and missed the first three grand slam events.
The former world No 4, who has now fallen to a ranking of 147, had been due to play American Alex Michelsen in the first round.
A statement on X read: "Jack Draper has withdrawn from the tournament with a left arm injury. He will be replaced in the draw by lucky loser Mackenzie McDonald."
It is understood that Draper has withdrawn to focus on next month's ATP Tour events in Montreal and Cincinnati, although he would need a wild card in both, and the US Open, for which he would probably need to qualify.

Jersey's Filip Nowacki won his heat to make the semi-finals of the 100m ******* troke at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
The world junior champion came back over the final 10 metres to overtake South Africa's Michael Houlie and clock a time of 59.93 - 0.21 ahead of Houlie.
The time saw the Jerseyman qualify third-fastest for the Friday night's semi-finals behind former Olympic champion Adam Peaty and Australia's Sam Williamson.
Nowacki is aiming to become the first person representing Jersey to win a Commonwealth Games medal since 1990.
He was the only Jersey swimmer to progress out of the heats as Megan Hansford finished fifth in her two heats.

Every July, the Southeastern Conference herds its head coaches into one ballroom and asks each of them, politely, to explain why their corner of the sport deserves belief again this fall. Most arrive with the hedge built in careful qualifiers, a nod to "the process," nothing November could hold against them. Will Stein, thirty-six years old and the owner of a perfect, undefeated, entirely theoretical 0-0 record as a head coach, didn't bother with the hedge.
Asked why the Kentucky Wildcats — five wins last season, four the year before, without a top-50 offense to its name since 2021 — should expect anything different under him, Stein let the question sit in the room a beat longer than comfortable.
"This is going to sound like really... I think because of me, to be honest," he said. "I think it's because of me. I think I know what it takes. I have seen it at the highest levels. I know what it takes to recruit at this level."
It's the kind of answer that gets replayed for one of two reasons: the coach is a fool, or he's right. The comparison in the room was instant: Curt Cignetti, who once told Indiana fans, in essence, to go look him up, then backed it with a national ******* le game and a Heisman winner. The Panthers are set to open the season without either of their starting offensive tackles from 2025, but General Manager Dan Morgan didn't seem worried about that during a Wednesday press conference.
Carolina signed Rasheed Walker as a free agent in March because they knew left tackle Ikem Ekwonu had a long rehab ahead of him after tearing his patellar tendon, but news this week that right tackle Taylor Moton is dealing with a blood clot in his lung came as a surprise. Moton is expected to be out into the regular season and that puts first-round pick Monroe Freeling on track to start on that side of the offensive line.
Freeling played left tackle at Georgia and he appeared set to play an apprentice role as a rookie, but Morgan said he feels comfortable with how things are currently taking shape up front.
"I think we’ll be covered there," Morgan said, via the team's website. "We feel good about it, and I know T-Mo will definitely support Monroe there at right tackle and teach him all he knows. So, yeah, we feel good about it. I think that's why depth matters so much in this league. And drafting Monroe and taking the best player available, it happened to be a tackle, it worked out really well for us. So we feel really good about him. We're confident in him, and I know he's going to attack it and he's going to be out there competing."
The Panthers also have a new center in Luke Fortner and the offensive line will have to gel over the coming weeks for the team to get off on the right foot come September.

Liverpool have already cleared out a lot of their squad this summer.
The Anfield outfit were destined to have a bit of a re-jig before the 2026-27 season fully kicked off but, ******* ody could have expected three of their first-team regulars to have already packed their bags and exited.
This had led to the Reds severely lacking depth among their ranks with the club just one injury crisis away from being in a worse position than they were last term.
The worst thing about the exits of Mohamed Salah, Ibrahima Konate and Andy Robertson is that none of them earned Liverpool any money as they all left as free agents with Salah even terminating his deal to get away from L4.
Konate and Robertson have both already sorted their next destinations out but, the Egyptian King's future still isn't decided.

Between adding a number of notable transfers, searching for a starting center, and both AJ Dybantsa and Richie Saunders being selected in the NBA draft, it's been an eventful offseason for BYU.
But the most stunning story of the summer belongs to Rob Wright III, the rising junior point guard and lone returning Cougars starter.
In a Powder League pro-am game this past week, Wright scored an eye-popping 101 points — and quickly went viral online for it.
Wright shot 32 of 55 (58%) from the field and made 14 3-pointers to cross the century mark and break the Powder League's single-game scoring record. Unless Wright goes for 102 points in a future outing, it's safe to say his record won't be broken.
The 101-point outburst now serves as a timely reminder that amid all of BYU's intriguing roster additions for the coming campaign, no move carries more importance than that of Kevin Young and his staff recruiting Wright out of the transfer portal to return for another year in Provo.

If Texas A&M has any chance at making it back to the College Football Playoff for the second straight season, redshirt junior quarterback Marcel Reed must improve in several areas, including eliminating the mental mistakes that heavily contributed to the Aggies' back-to-back losses to Texas and Miami in the first round of the College Football Playoff.
This offseason, Reed quickly went to work on his own, spending several weeks at the D1 Training facility in Nashville, Tennessee, his hometown, adding more muscle to his frame, while sitting down for a long-form interview that has since been cut up for your viewing pleasure.
Tuesday's release centered around Reed's goals for the 2026 season, which, heading into his third year and second full starting campaign, the NFL remains in his sights, and naming all the wide receivers he'll be throwing to this fall, now including Alabama transfer Isaiah Horton, who joins Mario Craver, Ashton Bethel-Roman, Terry Bussey, and, likely to crack the lineup, standout freshman Aaron Gregory, Texas A&M's offense is in good hands.
Last season, which Reed acknowledged, his personal stats skyrocketed, completing 62% of his passes for 3,169 yards and 25 touchdowns, while his 12 interceptions were the main issue, tied for second in the SEC, with four of his interceptions coming against Texas and Miami.
Eliminating turnovers is one thing, but consistency, especially completing a high percentage of his passes from start to finish, and making good decisions while avoiding passing attempts in double coverage, and taking the easy throw to move the chains, should result in late-season success and a shot at being selected in the 2027 or 2028 NFL Draft.

Left-hander Jacob Latz is the Texas Rangers’ lone representative at the 2026 All-Star Game, five years after his MLB debut and nine years after he was drafted.
The Jacob Latz All-Star story doesn’t begin at the end of spring training, when he was informed that he had lost out in the battle to be the Texas Rangers‘ fifth starter. Rather than sulk, he channeled his disappointment into some of the finest relief work in the American League.
This isn’t his first time on the road less traveled, encountering potholes and detours since his freshman year of college. Ultimately, missing out on the rotation was just another instance in which his career has been redirected.
It’s been that way since Latz left high school in Illinois. Just getting drafted by the Rangers out of college was a **** py ride, as injuries, dietary issues and an eligibility issue limited him to only a handful of innings over three seasons at LSU and Kent State.
Even his MLB debut, in 2021, was unusual. He was the Rangers’ starting pitcher only because the team was dealing with an outbreak of COVID-19. Latz didn’t pitch in the majors again until September 2023, just in time to earn a World Series ring.

Jude Bellingham was excellent and had a brace, but his goal athe 45’+2’ mark probably should not have counted as the ball struck a cable for the overhead camera in the moments before the goal. Per FIFA rules, the play should have been blown dead.
As we know now, it was not, Bellingham eventually scored, and there will be a nation of angry folks stewing about it. AS journalist Joe Brennan broke the play down this way:
As the ball came down from a Norway free-kick to be controlled by an England player, it hit the overhead camera wire that suspends the spider-cam above the pitch.

After reports emerged on Friday suggesting that an agreement had been reached between FC Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund for Karim Adeyemi, a medical has now been scheduled for the 24-year-old.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Adeyemi is set to undergo his medical on Wednesday, with the official announcement of the deal expected to follow the day after.
Dortmund will reportedly receive a guaranteed transfer fee of €22 million, which could rise by a further €7 million through performance-related bonuses.
The Black and Yellows are also understood to have secured a 35 per cent sell-on clause.

The Green Bay Packers' offensive line has become a popular offseason target for skeptics.
One recent article highlighted the unit as one of Green Bay's biggest question marks, noting that several national ***** ysts rank the Packers' offensive line near the bottom third of the NFL after the departures of Rasheed Walker and Elgton Jenkins. Makes sense on paper.
But they also ignore why the Packers have been comfortable making so few outside additions.

I think the biggest reason for optimism is Jordan Morgan. After spending much of his rookie season bouncing between positions, he finally appears set to take over at his natural spot at left tackle. Justis Mosqueda recently noted that Morgan looked considerably more comfortable on the edge than at guard, suggesting a full-time move back to tackle could unlock the player Green Bay thought it drafted in the first round.

FIFA added an additional game onto the one-match suspension for England's Jarell Quansah, meaning that the defender will also miss the World Cup semifinal should his team advance.
Quansah received a straight red card in England's 3-2 win over Mexico in the round of 16 and there wasn't too much argument about the call itself. But after Folarin Balogun's suspension was controversially lifted for the United States, other teams and players in the tournament thought maybe FIFA was willing to be lenient with suspensions in the knockout stage this year.
Instead, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee brought down the hammer on the England defender, who now can't play on Saturday against Norway in the quarterfinals or a potential semifinal against Argentina/Switzerland next week.

Chris MacFarland was busy on July 1, adding three players in his first free agency day as Nashville Predators general manager.
After adding forwards Ross Colton, Jack Drury, Nils Hoglander, and Adam Edstrom in June, MacFarland added center Mavrik Bourque, defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin and winger Alex Kerfoot when free agency opened. The Predators now have seven new faces in the locker room headed into the 2026-27 season.

Down a set after untimely double-faults, Coco Gauff rallied past Jessica Pegula 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 to reach the semifinals here for the first time.
The 22-year-old Gauff became the youngest player to reach the semifinals at all four Grand Slams since Maria Sharapova, who completed the feat at the 2007 French Open, the women’s professional tennis tour said.

Tour de France fans have been urged not to attend the end of the third stage because of wildfires in the south of France.
Monday's mountain stage will begin in Granollers, Spain, and conclude within 60 kilometres (37.3 miles) of some of the worst of the fires across the border in Les Angles.
While the 195.9km route is not expected to change, Tour organisers have asked fans and unessential personnel to stay away from the final 40km.
