Night View Capital, an investment management firm, released its second-quarter 2026 investor letter. The letter highlights that AI is a transformative force, comparable to electricity due to its industry-wide impact. A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. Although fears about the software sector have led to significant declines in stock prices, the letter argues that AI integration will ultimately benefit many companies. They recognize that some software firms may experience temporary slowdowns, but most will adapt and succeed by embracing AI, citing advantages like systems of record, high switching costs, entrenched distribution, and rapid AI adoption. The sharp decline in software valuations appears to be an overreaction rather than a sign of industry failure. Nightview believes the so-called "software panic of 2026" is temporary, and resilient businesses will adapt and flourish in the age of AI. In addition, please check the Strategy's top five holdings to know its best picks in 2026.

Night View Capital stated the following regarding Atlassian Corporation (NASDAQ:TEAM) in its Q2 2026 investor update:
"Atlassian Corporation (NASDAQ:TEAM) is a new position this quarter. It owns the tools that software teams use to plan and ship their work, which places it at an interesting spot in the AI story. The world is about to write a great deal more software, much of it with AI ****** istance, and all of that software still has to be organized, tracked, and shipped by human teams. We think the company that sits at the center of how software gets built is a fine place to own in a decade defined by building more of it."

O'Keeffe Stevens Advisory, an investment advisory firm, released its second-quarter 2026 investor letter. A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. During Q2 2026, the market experienced notable dispersion between perceived AI losers and winners. The firm has made investments early in AI infrastructure companies, which yielded gains during market repricing. The second quarter experienced strong equity rallies, with the S&P 500 gaining 15.2% and the Nasdaq 21.4%, marking the best quarter since Q2 2020. While the software sector faced challenges, with the iShares Software ETF dropping ~27% before a rally, reflecting high volatility. This volatility is seen as an opportunity, despite the potential for 'dead money' in underperforming stocks. The firm remains cautious, focuses on owning durable businesses at reasonable prices, holding cash, and hedging risks to navigate unpredictability. In addition, please check the Strategy's top five holdings to know its best picks in 2026.
In its Q2 2026 investor letter, O'Keeffe Stevens Advisory highlighted Corning Incorporated (NYSE:GLW). On July 27, 2026, Corning Incorporated (NYSE:GLW) closed at $143.36 per share. One-month return of Corning Incorporated (NYSE:GLW) was -43.88%, and its shares gained 131.30% over the past 52 weeks. Corning Incorporated (NYSE:GLW) has a market capitalization of $123.38 billion.
O'Keeffe Stevens Advisory stated the following regarding Corning Incorporated (NYSE:GLW) in its Q2 2026 investor update:
"Qualcomm and Corning Incorporated (NYSE:GLW) both appreciated materially in Q2. We trimmed both positions using a combination of options and stock sales.
Corning appreciated over 20% in Q2. Corning spent the second quarter signing up the biggest names in AI as customers and partners. In May, Nvidia and Corning announced a multiyear commercial and technology partnership under which Corning will increase its U.S. optical connectivity manufacturing capacity tenfold and expand U.S. Fiber production by more than 50%, including three new plants in North Carolina and Texas. Nvidia paid $500 million for rights to Corning shares, including warrants on up to 15 million shares at a $180 exercise price; if exercised in full, Nvidia's total equity investment could reach $3.2 billion. In June, Amazon signed a multiyear, multibillion-dollar agreement for Corning to supply the optical Fiber, cable, and connectivity for its expanding U.S. data centers. These follow the up to $6 billion supply agreement Meta signed in January. Historically, data centers used copper cables to connect their technology, some of which is switching to Fiber. Corning's Fiber may be a future bottleneck. As legacy data centers convert to newer, Fiber-connected racks, Corning contends with new data centers demand

Columbia Threadneedle Investments, an investment management company, released its "Columbia Seligman Global Technology Fund" second quarter 2026 investor letter. A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. During the quarter, the Fund's Institutional Class shares returned 50.34%, outperforming the MSCI World Information Technology Index's 33.65% gain. Stock selection in semiconductors, technology hardware and software, together with an off-benchmark electrical equipment allocation, supported relative performance, while exposure to financials, consumer discretionary and healthcare detracted. Technology stocks rallied as concerns over the Iran conflict eased and AI infrastructure spending boosted demand for semiconductors, memory, networking, servers and power solutions. The Fund expects AI and data-centre investment to remain strong, supported by broadening earnings growth and improving software bookings, cloud consumption and customer spending. The numbers tell one side of the story for Joel Piroe. 19 goals. Four ***** ists. 45 appearances. Top scorer in the Championship in 2024/25 and the main engine behind getting Leeds United back to the big time. Yet, stroll around West Yorkshire right now, and you quickly realise statistics mean precious little when a manager's mind is made up that he is a low-priority man. Daniel Farke wants a new leading man. Simple as that.
Farke wants a traditional centre-forward to hold up the ball, bully centre-backs, and trigger the team's pressing system off the ball. They have Dominic Calvert-Lewin for that. That leaves Joel Piroe in a tough spot.
Despite doing everything asked of him last season, the 26-year-old Dutchman finds himself pushed right to the edge of the first-team picture. Farke clearly harbours doubts about whether Piroe has the raw pace, athletic engine, and mobility required to lead the line in the top flight.
With just 12 months remaining on his contract at Elland Road, the hierarchy seems open to business. A cut-price departure before deadline day is now a genuine possibility, with Birmingham City already keeping close tabs on the situation.

Joe Rogan claims there will be little debate in the future that Israel committed a "genocide" in Gaza.
The veteran comic made the claim during the Wednesday episode of his podcast, in which he said the idea of genocide by Israel would become "universally accepted."
Rogan said he can't see how anyone can support Israel's war in Gaza, even when considering it was spurred by the Hamas terror attack in October 2023 where about 1,200 people were slaughtered and hundreds of hostages were taken.
"Like, how could anybody defend that? I don't even know how many people are dead," Rogan said. "You have a complete wipeout of a city — like 90% of Gaza is gone, or whatever the percentage is. You look at the buildings — you look at what it used to look like, [and] you look at what it looks like now — like, this is defensible?"
He got onto the topic after his guest, actor Tim Robbins, complained it was "nuts" ex-wife Susan Sarandon lost her agent and had a hard time finding work because of her criticism of Israel and comments after the 10/7 attack.

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs held their first full-squad workout of training camp Wednesday without offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, who remained with his family following the shooting of his wife — allegedly by their son — at their Virginia home last weekend.
Chiefs coach Andy Reid said after the workout that Mia Bieniemy had been released from the intensive care unit, where she was being treated for multiple gunshot wounds. But there was no timetable for when Eric Bieniemy would be back with the team.
"She's making progress," Reid said, "so we're happy about that."
Elijah Zion Bieniemy, the 27-year-old son of the couple, was arrested in connection with the late-Sunday shooting. He was charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and discharge of a firearm inside a dwelling, and was being held without bond Wednesday at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.
Elijah Bieniemy has a court date to hear motions scheduled for Thursday. His preliminary hearing date is Aug. 31.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — There was business to discuss as the Philadelphia Eagles opened their sixth training camp under coach Nick Sirianni. They have a new offensive coordinator — yes, another one — and players in new roles and ones playing on hefty new contracts.
So Jordan Davis, one of the biggest offseason beneficiaries of a contract extension, cut to the chase Wednesday and got straight to the topic of the day.
"I will be asking the questions," Davis said with laugh as he took his seat for a news conference.
"How we feeling about LeBron being in town?"
Yes, in a sports city that each time this summer turns as green in team colors as the cash spent on Davis and fellow defensive tackle Jalen Carter, the Eagles have been overshadowed by the arrival of the most famous active American athlete in LeBron James.

It's been almost four weeks since Shohei Ohtani last pitched in a game, still managing the left knee inflammation that still isn't 100 percent. But that's not the only injury the Dodgers superstar is dealing with.
After Tuesday night's game, Ohtani revealed that his right bicep has also been bothering him. That was part of the reason that his planned bullpen session over the weekend in New York was scrapped.
"It started with the knee, and the bicep thing started when he took a swing — I don't know, three or four weeks ago. Then as we got to the break we wanted him to rest his knee, to rest his body and arm. Then as he started ramping back up, in the bullpen … it just wasn't responding. Nor was his knee," manager Dave Roberts told reporters Tuesday night, as shown on SportsNet LA. "There is an effect from the lower half to the compromising of the upper half. So trying to mitigate that, we stopped the throwing, stopped the bullpens, trying to take care of the knee and hopefully not try to create velocity with the arm that's not 100 percent."
Ken Rosenthal at The Athletic wrote about how Ohtani's injuries, which might prevent him from pitching in October (though the Dodgers insist his rest now is a precaution and that they expect him to pitch in the postseason), could increase the Dodgers likelihood to pursue Tarik Skubal before next Monday's trade deadline.
Ohtani homered and doubled on Tuesday, part of a three-hit game against the Mariners. But he's hitting .250/.307/.500 in July, decent numbers but well below his established norms. Since the All-Star break, Ohtani is hitting .238/.283/.405.

The position had gone to Paolo Maldini under three weeks ago, but that experience was cut short by a difference in opinion on who to hire as coach.

Manchester City have already broken their transfer record this summer and seen a number of high-profile exits, but more activity is still expected.
After a decade with Pep Guardiola in charge, this summer will be one of the most transformative in recent memory at the Etihad Stadium. Enzo Maresca, the Catalan's former ******* istant and ex-Chelsea boss, has formally arrived as his successor.
The Italian has insisted he will not 'try to copy' Guardiola, although he would surely love to enjoy similar success. There have already been numerous adjustments made as City and Maresca build their squad ahead of the new season.
Guardiola was not the only key figure to say farewell to the Etihad at the end of last season. After nine and ten years respectively at the club, both Bernardo Silva and John Stones also said goodbye, as their contracts expired. The former has now joined Real Madrid, with the latter set to sign for Inter Milan.
Meanwhile, Nathan Ake quietly joined Fenerbahce during the World Cup and Manuel Akanji's permanent transfer to Inter was confirmed.

In the 73rd minute of a scoreless match, Malawi forward Temwa Chawinga shot down the field like an arrow to receive a long pass from midfield. The ball dropped into the pocket between the opponent's backline and goalkeeper, a ripe scenario for an attacker whose pace is as blistering as her decision-making.
Chawinga, who plays for the Kansas City Current in the National Women's Soccer League, nudged the ball with her chest to the goalkeeper's left, ran around her right, and found a half volley to begin an extraordinary new chapter of firsts in her career: not only her first goal at the Women's Africa Cup of Nations, but also her country's.
Malawi defeated 10-time champions and current continental ***** le holders Nigeria in a dramatic 3-2 upset victory on Tuesday, thanks to two goals from Temwa and one from her older sister and OL Lyonnes forward, Tabitha, at the Al Medina Stadium in Rabat, Morocco.
The win puts the southern African nation in a crucial second place in their group behind Zambia on goal differential.
"We are going (to WAFCON) to compete, not just to participate," Chawinga told The Athletic before she departed for Morocco.

TotalEnergies SE (NYSE:TTE) reported second-quarter adjusted net income of $6 billion on July 23, 2026, up 67% year-over-year and its best quarter in nearly three years.
The gain traced almost entirely to the Iran war, as Hormuz disruption pushed crude and gas prices to multi-year highs and lifted European refining margins while Middle East capacity stayed offline. Refining and chemicals income rose 362% to $1.8 billion, and exploration and production earnings climbed 64% to $3.2 billion.
CEO Patrick Pouyanné called the strait a battleground and said closures could become normal, leaving the real question: what the company looks like once that windfall fades.
LNG is where that question starts to get answered, and the quarter alone was not encouraging.
The segment earned $807 million, a 22% decline the company attributed to trading underperformance amid flat European demand, though Pouyanné said prices rallied in July.

Long before LeBron James bid farewell to the Los Angeles Lakers this offseason, the transition of power within the franchise began. Luka Dončić, whom the Lakers famously traded for in February 2025, became their crown jewel.
But James remained at the heart of JJ Redick's squad that season and this past season. James and Dončić co-existed remarkably well, each respecting the other's game while forming an entertaining three-headed attack with Austin Reaves.
Even though the Lakers have been planning their future around Dončić for a good bit of time now, it wasn't until James officially closed the door on his chapter in L.A. that Dončić stood alone in the spotlight. He's the undisputed face of the franchise, and he's reportedly embracing a leadership role that's seemingly heightened in the absence of James, a four-time NBA champion and four-time league MVP.
In fact, according to ESPN's Dave McMenamin, Dončić is hosting the entire Lakers roster in Slovenia for a four-day minicamp in August. The trip will feature workouts, golf, bonding and touring Ljubljana, the capital city of Slovenia, McMenamin reported on Wednesday.
Dončić, a six-time All-NBA first teamer, is preparing for a pivotal season in his already prolific career. He played his way into the MVP conversation last season before a Grade 2 left hamstring strain effectively ended his campaign prematurely. He experienced that setback in early April and didn't make it back for the Lakers' postseason run, which came to a screeching halt in the Western Conference semifinals.

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) and Core Scientific, Inc. (NASDAQ:CORZ) announced an infrastructure partnership on July 28 that starts with more than 500 megawatts of U.S. data center capacity in 2027 and can expand to 2.5 gigawatts.
The commercial link is a deployment bottleneck. AI accelerators cannot generate revenue without energized land, cooling, networking, and buildings designed for high-density racks. Core Scientific supplies that infrastructure, while the companies will jointly design facilities around AMD Instinct GPUs, EPYC CPUs, and ROCm software. For AMD, reserving compatible capacity can turn customer interest into installable systems rather than stranded chip demand, although the agreement discloses no GPU-purchase commitment.
For illustration purposes only. Photo by Brett Sayles on Pexels
The full 2.5 GW is not firm capacity. Core Scientific said the partnership is anchored by 15-year agreements for approximately 530 MW across five sites and more than $14 billion of potential base contracted revenue. That company estimate is not recognized revenue, and no disclosed GPU-purchase commitment lets investors translate it into AMD chip sales.
Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) will receive market-priced warrants to buy Core Scientific common stock, subject to commercial conditions. That feature aligns AMD with the infrastructure provider's execution and gives it potential equity upside. It may also dilute existing CORZ holders if warrants vest and are exercised, but the companies did not disclose enough terms to quantify that effect.

The energy sector in 2026 is experiencing a split-margin scenario that few investors are pricing cleanly. Even though the broader market views the sector as mature and low-growth, refining margins remain significantly higher than their typical mid-cycle range.
Chemicals, on the other hand, are only now recovering from some of their lowest margins in years, with the Chemical Manufacturing Industry posting an EBITDA margin of 16.86% in the year leading up to Q2 2026.
Meanwhile, renewable diesel, which has long been a burden on integrated energy earnings, is moving from below break-even to mid-cycle profitability, thanks to a regulatory reset rather than increased demand. This comes as S&P Global reported that the applicable biomass-based diesel volume requirement has been substantially raised from 5.42 billion gallons in 2025 to 9.07 billion gallons in 2026.
Only a handful of companies sit at the center of all three cycles simultaneously. That's why Phillips 66 (NYSE:PSX) is worth a deeper study. It isn't a pure refiner, a pure chemicals operation, or a pure renewables gamble, but rather a company whose near-term earnings potential depends on three distinct margin recoveries occurring nearly in sync.
The refining rebound is already quantifiable as PSX's realized refining margin increased by 48% to $10.11 per barrel in Q1 2026, from $6.81 the previous year, while crude capacity utilization increased to 95% from 80%. This lifted the refining business from a $937 million adjusted loss in Q1 2025 to a $208 million adjusted profit, bringing overall adjusted EPS to $0.49, above the Wall Street forecast of a $0.40 per share loss.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke with the media at training camp on Wednesday.
While the questions were largely about the team, he did provide an update on Mia Bieniemy, who was the victim of a shooting last weekend.
Reid said that she is no longer in the ICU and that "she's doing great, better than she was. Making progress, so we're happy about that."
The head coach confirmed that offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, husband of Mia, remains away from the team and in Virginia alongside his wife as she recovers.
"Eric's a big part of this. (We) love having him here. But right now, it's important that he takes care of business. And everybody knows that.

AI data centers are putting pressure on the US electrical grid in ways that did not seem possible just a few years ago, and that strain is a direct benefit to heavy equipment manufacturers, not just chipmakers. US data center power consumption is expected to increase by 22% in a single year, with total grid demand nearly tripling to 134.4 GW by 2030 as hyperscale buildouts gain speed.
Considering grid capacity cannot be increased quickly enough to meet that curve, on-site and backup power production has become a significant portion of AI infrastructure spending, with Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE:CAT) alone accounting for an estimated 18% of the data center generator market. Notably, the company has come to be one of the Dow's best-performing stocks so far in 2026, with a year-to-date return of 47.81%.
The company's Q1 2026 revenue came in at $17.4 billion, up 22% year-over-year, with adjusted EPS of $5.54, above expectations. The backlog behind that expansion seems to be the real story, with Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE:CAT) closing the quarter with a record $63 billion in order backlog, an increase of 79% year-over-year and $11.5 billion sequentially, owing to major project wins like Altus and Chevron, growing rental demand, and strong Mining segment order conversion.
CEO Joe Creed told ******* ysts that the company's massive engine backlog, which directly powers AI data centers, has grown by over 3.5x since Caterpillar first revealed capacity expansion plans back in January 2024.
This backlog progress led Oppenheimer to lift Caterpillar's price target to $1,105 from $980 on July 13, while keeping an Outperform rating, expecting high-margin Power & Energy deliveries to accelerate in the second half of the year. However, underlying margin trends indicate rising friction. Resource Industries segment margins fell by over 700 basis points year on year in Q1, to 10%, owing to roughly $600 million in quarterly tariff charges. With full-year tariff headwinds of $2.2 billion to $2.4 billion, Caterpillar's cost structure is under significant pressure even as top-line demand grows.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Addicks this afternoon.
The 33-year-old joins Charlton Athletic following a short spell with Leicester City. Neville joined The Foxes in January and made 13 appearances for the club in all competitions. She was unable to keep the East Midlands side in the Barclays Women's Super League.
Neville is best known for her eight-and-a-half-year spell at Tottenham Hotspur. She was a Barclays WSL2 promotion-winner and an Adobe Women's FA Cup runner-up in her time in North London. Neville was so often one of Spurs' top performers and she was unlucky not to receive an England call-up earlier in her career.
After joining Charlton Athletic, Neville said "I'm really happy. It's an exciting journey for myself and the club, so really happy to be here.
"I think I know what Karen [Hills] is about and vice versa [from working together at Spurs]; she knows what I bring. I think I know how good this pre-season's going to be and what Karen brings to the on and off of the pitch. I'm really looking forward to working with her again.
