The beauty of a five-month-long basketball season is that it leaves room for pauses – a mid-season exhale, even. For the WNBA, it arrives in the form of All-Star Weekend. It's a moment when the league's best fans come together to vote on who and what they want to see, creating a weekend built around the All-Star Game, the 3-Point Contest, and a series of, what's supposed to be, lighthearted challenges. A small plane was forced to make an emergency landing at Huntington State Beach in Orange County, California. The pilot says the engine failed shortly after takeoff and had to make a quick decision about where to land. The beach wasn't too crowded, and no one was injured.

Now that the Denver Broncos are reporting for training camp, fans will likely get a more inside looks at the team's new training facility. While some introductory pictures were released by the team in mid-July, the first interior video of the facility has been shared on Instagram by Kayla Jones, wife of Broncos defensive lineman D.J. Jones.
The video captured several never-before-seen areas of the new building. Some of the new areas shown include an in-house barbershop (complete with an orange and blue striped barber chair), a mini indoor field, shaded table seating on the roof of the building, and a revamped locker room ready for the team.

The $175 million facility, and all its bells and whistles, is a visible sign of the past two seasons of work. The facility was first announced in November 2023 and broke ground in late August 2024. The state-of-the-art campus was funded completely by the Walton-Penner ownership group, and is 30 percent bigger than their old headquarters building, according to the team's website.
The building also is a reminder of the Walton-Penner ownership group's commitment to making the team one of the best in the NFL, both on and off the field. The next big investment in the club will be the team's new stadium, on track to be built at the team's preferred site at Denver's historic Burnham Yard. While finalized plans have not been announced quite yet, the team is committing significant time and energy into the beautification of the area, and community inclusivity. You can see all the updates on the team's stadium website. The biggest remaining hurdle will be the relocation of Denver Water, which is located at Burnham Yard.

With a revamped roster, featuring more than 50 additions, the Gators may have more uncertainty than established star power for owners to consider. However, there are a number of surefire producers to target in the draft's initial rounds.
Star running back Jadan Baugh is the clear No. 1 option for the Gators under new offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner. The returning 1,000-yard rusher is likely to sustain his productive level from 2025 as the junior becomes more of a focal point for the Orange and Blue. Inexperience at the quarterback position makes Baugh the centerpiece for Jon Sumrall and company in 2026. The All-SEC playmaker will see an increased workload with plenty of red zone opportunities. Baugh projects as a potential high-end fantasy starter.
Behind Baugh is last year's breakout freshman Vernell Brown III. He led Florida in receiving yards last season in his first year with the Gators, making history by becoming the first true freshman in program history to earn All-SEC honors at three different positions in a single season. Brown enters 2026 as one of the team's most important players; the Gainesville, Florida, native's 773 all-purpose yards ranked second among all true freshman wide receivers, highlighting his versatility and impact — a big reason many feel he'll continue improving.

Texas volleyball's Henley Anderson, Genevieve Harris, Taylor Harvey and Abby Vander Wal helped lead the U.S. squad to the 2026 NORCECA Women's under-21 Pan American Cup championship Sunday when Team USA swept Canada 25-18, 25-19, 25-21 in the gold medal match in Columbus, Ohio.
The U.S. completed the tournament with a 5-0 record with wins over Venezuela, Mexico and Canada during pool play before sweeping Mexico in the semifinals and Canada in the championship match. The Americans dropped just one set at the tournament.
The team included two rising Longhorns sophomores in middle blocker Harvey and outside hitter Vander Wal as well as two 2026 recruits in outside hitter Anderson and setter Harris. The 6-foot-3 Anderson, out of Dripping Springs, registered nine points in the gold medal match with four kills, three aces and two blocks. She started four of Team USA's five matches, highlighted by a team-high 17 points in a four-set pool-play victory over Canada on 13 kills and four aces before recording nine points in both the semifinal victory over Mexico as well as the championship match.

With its brilliant orange wings and black markings, the high brown fritillary ***** erfly was once widespread in Wales and England.
But now it's one of the rarest of all British ***** erflies, with it numbers declining by 62% since 1970.
One reason is its incredibly specific requirements to survive.
"They are the pickiest," says Paul Dunn, who for more than 30 years has been working hard among the bracken of the Alun Valley at Old Castle Down, in the Vale of Glamorgan, to revive the ***** erfly's fortunes.
And now, the volunteers have enlisted the help of a far more common animal, by allowing cows to graze on the site.

McAfee replicated that blueprint on a grander scale, cultivating a massive audience outside ESPN before licensing the show to the network under an arrangement that left him with complete creative control.

BALTIMORE — Samuel Basallo stood and watched. Seconds later, he smiled wide, threw his bat and yelled emphatically toward a sea of orange fans behind the Orioles' dugout.
The designated hitter's eighth-inning home run, which barely looped inside the right-field foul pole, ignited Camden Yards into a frenzy. The 373-foot blast gave Baltimore a two-run lead that held in a 5-3 win over the Kansas City Royals on Friday.
The shot marked Basallo's 15th home run of the season, and third of July. That already matches how many the 21-year-old hit in June. It came after Orioles (44-51) starter Brandon Young surrendered a game-tying home run in the top half of the frame to Royals left fielder Isaac Collins.
Closer Andrew Kittredge secured a three-out save for the second straight game to seal the victory, for his third save of the season.
Baltimore led virtually the entire game. Its middle infielders led a second-inning surge.

The Dodgers scratched Shohei Ohtani from his scheduled start on Friday against the Arizona Diamondbacks due to irritation in his left knee, an ailment that has plagued him off and on for the last month. Ohtani will still be the designated hitter this weekend, but won't travel to Philadelphia to take part in All-Star Game festivities.
Ohtani left a game in which he was the designated hitter on June 10 in Pittsburgh, but made his pitching start the next day on June 11. He has a 4.38 ERA in his four starts since, but has lasted at least six innings each time out with a 3.32 xERA, 26.2-percent strikeout rate, and 7.5-percent walk rate. That's compared to a 0.74 ERA, 2.45 xERA, 28.8-percent strikeout rate and 7.7-percent walk rate in his first 10 starts.
At the plate Ohtani has homered twice this week but so far through seven July games has just six hits in 27 at-bats, hitting .222/.323/.444.
In a press release the Dodgers said Ohtani will undergo "interventions" in his left knee beginning after Sunday's game. Manager Dave Roberts told reporters Friday at Dodger Stadium Ohtani would get fluid drained from his left knee. Ohtani will also receive a pain-killing injection in his knee, per Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register and others.
"He's been managing this quite well, the knee," Roberts told reporters Friday, as shown on SportsNet LA. "If there's a chance that we could be proactive and get it drained, and do whatever we need to do to try to manage it, along with the rest for the All-Star break, we were gonna do that."
