Patriots' Receiver Concerns Put DeMario Douglas In Unexpected Spotlight originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The New England Patriots entered the season hoping their passing game would take another significant step forward with Drake Maye leading the offense. A.J. Brown was expected to play an important role in that development, giving Maye a proven receiving threat capable of making difficult catches and creating explosive plays.
Instead, the Patriots have spent much of the opening two months trying to keep their wide receiver group healthy.
Thursday brought another discouraging development when Brown missed practice because of ankle and knee issues.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that a knee problem had flared up, leaving Brown's availability for Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins uncertain.

Could the Washington Commanders get star left tackle Laremy Tunsil back this season? A recent social media post from Tunsil gave Washington fans a glimmer of hope that one of the league's best offensive linemen could return before the end of the season.
Tunsil, who signed a two-year extension in the offseason, once again became the NFL's highest-paid offensive lineman, tore his triceps during a training camp practice on Aug. 8. It was a devastating blow for Tunsil personally and for the Commanders. Most believed Tunsil would miss most, if not all, of the upcoming 2026 regular season.
At 1-4-1, Washington is coming off its bye week and hosts the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night. Despite a rough start, the Commanders remain firmly in the NFC East mix. Could a few Washington wins push Tunsil to return sooner than anticipated?
First, here's the social media post that got everyone talking this week.
It's been nearly three months since Tunsil's triceps surgery. The injury usually keeps players out for 4-6 months, with offensive linemen often on the higher end because of the strenuous nature of the position. With Tunsil's social media post, head coach Dan Quinn was asked about his star left tackle.

The Chargers return to the field this Sunday for their Week 8 matchup against the Rams.
Los Angeles had a bye in Week 7 and will look to get their first win of the season this Sunday.
The Chargers are huge road underdogs in this matchup; however, they will take on the hobbled Rams without their best player.
Rams head coach Sean McVay announced on Wednesday that edge rusher Myles Garrett will not practice this week. With that being the case, Garrett will be out for the seventh consecutive game.
Garrett underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee after Week 1 and has been on the injured reserve since. He'll be back in the lineup next Sunday when they take on the Commanders.

There were high expectations for A.J. Brown with the New England Patriots this season. The Philadelphia Eagles traded him back in June for a 2027 fifth-rounder and a 2028 first-rounder. However, the wide receiver's debut in New England has been underwhelming.
So far, Brown has missed four games this season due to an injury. He was activated on Oct. 17 and has played in the last two games. However, another concerning update has emerged.
On Wednesday, after being listed on the injury report with a knee ailment, the Super Bowl LIX champion missed Thursday's practice session with the Patriots.
Fans on social media shared their reactions to A.J. Brown's latest injury concern.
"The Eagles fleeced them," a fan said.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield (thumb) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 29.
SOURCE: Buccaneers.com
Why it Matters: Mayfield returned to action in Week 7, but he only had to throw 11 times as the Buccaneers cruised to a win. He wasn't posting great numbers prior to the injury, so it wouldn't be wise to expect Mayfield to suddenly start delivering great stat lines. For now, he should be considered a QB2.

The Minnesota Vikings released their initial injury report ahead of their Week 8 game against the Detroit Lions. Although the list of players was short, their potential absences could be significant.
RB Aaron Jones (knee), T Brian O'Neill (knee), and G Joe Huber (knee) all missed Wednesday's practice. Kevin O'Connell said Huber was dealing with knee soreness after Sunday's game, although he made sure to say that he wasn't "overly concerned" about his availability.
Jones and O'Neill have been dealing with lingering knee issues throughout the season. Last week, ESPN's Kevin Seifert reported that Jones specifically has been playing through a sprained MCL this season.
Players who didn't practice for the Lions included WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle), RB Jahmyr Gibbs (shoulder), DL Tyliek Williams (illness), edge rusher Aiden Hutchinson (rest), T Penei Sewell (rest), DL Alim McNeil (rest), and edge rusher DJ Wonnum (rest).

NEW YORK -- The Brooklyn Nets are just four games into their 2026-27 NBA season that they hope will be better than what they put forth during the 2025-26 campaign record-wise. Brooklyn has been trying to correct enough of their issues to hopefully win their first game of the season sooner than later, but the Nets made sure to take care of business with some of their youngest players.
The Nets announced on Thursday that they exercised the third-year team options for their entire 2025 NBA Draft class heading into Friday's NBA Cup game against the visiting Detroit Pistons. Brooklyn selected five players in the 2025 draft: guard Egor Demin, guard Nolan Traore, forward Drake Powell, guard Ben Saraf, and forward Danny Wolf and now, the quintet is under contract for the 2027-28 season.
"We brought them in for a reason. Obviously, picking up options is part of the management, but [it's] the belief on development and the type of people that we bring in," Fernandez said after Thursday's practice about the franchise's announcement. Brooklyn exercising the team options on the entire class was interesting given that only Demin and Traore have been seeing regular rotation minutes at this point in the season.
"We've been together for a little over a year and we believe that every single one of them has a future in this league. Everybody's got different paths to get there and that's okay. But, so far, I think that just proves that we believe in the process," Fernandez continued. While Demin and Traore have proven enough to see NBA minutes on a daily basis, Powell, Saraf, and Wolf will have to continue doing the work in the G League and in practice.
Demin will be out of action for the next week while he rehabs from a right leg bone bruise that he suffered in Tuesday's 125-124 overtime loss to the Boston Celtics, but Traore could just be hitting his stride. Traore entered the starting lineup for Tuesday's matchup against the Celtics and if he continues to produce, he and Demin could be starting together once the former BYU Cougar returns. With that being said, the entire "Flatbush Five" will be in Brooklyn next season.

Seattle Seahawks RB Jadarian Price (chest) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 29.

Why it Matters: Price has a chance to return to action Monday night, but with Zach Charbonnet (knee) potentially making his debut and Emanuel Wilson and George Holani also in the mix, it is going to be hard to know which Seattle back to trust. Fantasy owners with more reliable options should probably shy away from the Seattle backfield until a pecking order becomes better established.

Buccaneers' Emeka Egbuka among players included in latest injury report before Falcons game appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Emeka Egbuka is showing signs of progress in his recovery, although his status for Sunday's Week 8 clash with the Atlanta Falcons remains up in the air.
Egbuka was a limited participant in Thursday's practice as he continued to work through the NFL's concussion protocol. One encouraging sign was his return to a regular practice jersey after previously wearing a non-contact one. The development suggests he is making progress, though he still needs medical clearance before returning to game action.
The rookie has been out since sustaining a concussion and a foot injury in the Buccaneers' Week 6 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. During the fourth quarter, Steelers linebacker Patrick Queen delivered a hit that brought his shoulder into Egbuka's helmet as the receiver tried to make a play on an incomplete pass. The injuries forced him to sit out Tampa Bay's Week 7 win over the Carolina Panthers.

Sean Brady won't be competing in the main event of UFC Fight Night 293 due to a gnarly knee injury that forced him to stay in the hospital for multiple days.
Brady (19-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC) was set to face Gabriel Bonfim in the Nov. 7 headliner at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas, but was forced out due to an infection and fluid buildup in his knee. The welterweight contender hopes to keep the matchup with Bonfim (20-1 MMA, 7-1 UFC) together, but isn't certain what will happen just yet.
Brady detailed the reasons for the fight's cancellation on "The BradyBags Show".
"So last week, Tuesday, I practiced in the morning," Brady explained. "Everything was going completely fine. By nighttime, I was going to do my next workout. I jumped on my bike. My knee was a little bit swollen afterwards. By 9 o'clock at night, I couldn't walk. So, that's Tuesday. Wednesday morning, I already knew because I've been in this situation before, like I've dealt with bursitis and sh*t, and I knew this wasn't bursitis – I knew it was an infection.
"So, I knew right away from dealing with my arm and my leg, the feeling that you get, it's just different. It's just a different pain. Like, I could barely walk. So, Wednesday morning, 6 a.m., first thing I do, I got to the hospital, and they start drawing blood, doing everything. They put me on IV antibiotics."

Denver Broncos WR Jaylen Waddle (chest) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 29.

Why it Matters: Waddle managed a limited practice after missing Wednesday's session, so if he continues to progress, there is a chance he could play in Week 8. Why it Matters: Waddle managed a limited practice after missing Wednesday's session, so if he continues to progress, there is a chance he could play in Week 8. That being said, Waddle has reached 50 receiving yards just once in seven games this season. It is hard to expect him to provide more than WR4 production.

Denver Broncos RB RJ Harvey (knee) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 29.
SOURCE: DenverBroncos.com
Why it Matters: Harvey wasn't listed on Wednesday's practice report, so the injury is something worth monitoring heading into Friday's session. His role in the offense has been shrinking a bit with the emergence of Jonah Coleman, and while Harvey has remained involved in the passing game, he has largely been reduced to a big-play dependent flex option.

I didn't think I was going to have to post this midway through a game, but after Green Bay Packers kicker Trey Smack missed his first extra point after missing two chip shots last week, it seems pretty clear that it's a question of when — not if — Smack will be replaced. Going into this game, I had done some research on who is available, so I want to share that with you folks.
I looked at all kickers who even attempted a field goal from 2024 to 2026, the last three seasons. Outside of punters, there are a total of 55 players who have attempted kicks. Of those 55 players, 46 of them are under contract for other teams or appear to be out of the league entirely, either due to injury or retirement.
As far as players on the street go, here's the list that the Packers can look at during their "mini-bye." Generally, kickers are worked out before they're signed, not poached off a practice squad, so I'm not going to include the practice squadders in this list.
Since 2024: 38 of 45 (84 percent field goal rate)
Recent: Released by Dolphins, 10/20

Arizona Cardinals RB Jeremiyah Love (ankle) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 29.
SOURCE: AZCardinals.com
Why it Matters: With Love remaining limited, his status for the Week 8 contest remains in question. Friday's injury report will be a better indicator, but if Love is able to return to action, he can be a RB2 against the Cowboys.

Bears' Kyle Monangai gets discouraging injury update ahead of Seahawks clash appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Chicago Bears have a challenging **** ignment in Week 8 when they travel to the Pacific Northwest to take on the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks Monday night. The Seahawks are coming off an impressive 20-3 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in which their defense shut down their previously unbeaten opponent.
The Bears would like all of their top weapons to be functioning at a high level in this game because the Seahawks are so strong defensively. They are the top-ranked team in the league in fewest yards allowed at 233.9 per game, and they are second to the Minnesota Vikings in points allowed at 17.9 per game.
As a result, the Bears would like running back Kyle Monangai back in the lineup. He has missed the last three games with a turf toe injury. Monangai did not practice in Thursday's session with both the turf toe injury and a thumb issue listed as the main problem areas.

The Arizona Cardinals conducted their second practice of the week Thursday in preparation for Sunday's road game against the Dallas Cowboys and distributed their second injury report.
Center Hjalte Froholdt (knee) was added Thursday and was limited. The injury likely occurred in practice, so the key will be his status on Friday. Froholdt was among three offensive linemen with injuries listed.
One is right guard Jon Gaines (ankle), who hasn't practiced this week and did not play on Sunday against the Broncos, while the other is right tackle Elijah Wilkinson (knee), who was upgraded to limited after not practicing Wednesday.
The full details of their Thursdday injury report are below. Starters are noted with an asterisk.

Oct. 29—EAST GRAND FORKS — Chay Boespflug wanted to try something new.
The East Grand Forks senior played football until eighth grade but stepped away during his freshman and sophomore years, focusing on soccer instead.
Ahead of his junior year at East Grand Forks, though, Boespflug considered a return to the gridiron.
"I was like, 'Why not try kicking?'" Boespflug said.
Boespflug joined the football team last season and took on kicking duties. This offseason, he began taking more reps on both offense and defense during practice.

Washington Commanders QB Jayden Daniels (elbow) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 29.
SOURCE: Commanders.com
Why It Matters: Daniels has been productive since coming back from his injury but will be without Terry McLaurin for the rest of the season. He should still be able to make plays in the offense and can be a No. 1 quarterback in fantasy leagues.

Ahmad Hardy's return appears to be imminent.
Hardy is expected to make his 2026 season debut against Arkansas this coming Saturday, Oct. 31, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, a source familiar with the team's plans confirmed to the Columbia Daily Tribune on Thursday. ESPN's Pete Thamel first reported the news.
The All-American running back, who set Mizzou's single-season rushing record last season with 1,649 yards in 13 games, was not listed on Mizzou's SEC-mandated availability and injury reports on either Wednesday or Thursday night.
The team was seemingly told after practice Thursday to expect Hardy to return.
The question now is what Hardy's workload looks like as he makes his much-anticipated return after sustaining a gunshot wound to the thigh in May in Laurel, Mississippi. It's unclear whether he'll be on a pitch count in his first appearance since last December.
