Kooper Deputy's quest for gold at the United World Wrestling U17 Freestyle World Championships came to a controversial end in Baku, Azerbaijan, on Friday with a 10-7 loss to India's Aaryan in the quarterfinal round.
The 16-year-old from New Paris trailed the Indian, who competes under a mononym, 10-5 with 25 seconds remaining. The U.S. Open champion worked a half-nelson and an arm bar but couldn't turn Aaryan until just over a second remained in the bout. The Indian turned at that point, and a screenshot from video appears to show Aaryan's shoulders completely flat on the mat with a second remaining on the clock.

Most tickets to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics cost hundreds of dollars, and the most coveted seats at dozens of high-profile events cost more than $1,000, according to fans who won the opportunity to purchase tickets in LA28 presales.
LA28 organizers have not publicly released a full price catalog, but fans have compiled spreadsheets with a complete list of prices for all 800-plus ticketed events. The Athletic, via screenshots and screen recordings, has independently confirmed many of the prices, which range from $28 (for the least desirable seats at lower-profile events) to $5,519 (for a lower-level seat at the opening ceremony).
The prices, across the board, are by far the highest in Olympic history. In many cases, tickets to LA28 are more than twice as expensive as an equivalent ticket at the 2024 Paris Olympics — whose prices sparked controversy in France.
The L.A. organizing committee's justification is similar to the one that guided FIFA's 2026 World Cup approach. "Pricing is rooted in heavy ****** ytics and extensive market demand research around entertainment and live sports in the U.S.," an LA28 spokesperson told The Athletic. In other words, Americans are accustomed to paying a lot for sports tickets.

The International Women's Baseball Center reported that the WBSC Women's Baseball World Cup Group Rockford drew 15,710 fans during its 15-game run at Rivets Stadium in Loves Park, helping generate momentum for future women's baseball events in the region.
The tournament also helped attract Baseball for All Nationals and the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League Reunion to Rockford, according to a community announcement. Organizers estimate the combined economic impact of those events will exceed $3 million.

DETROIT, July 30 (Reuters) - Ford CEO Jim Farley told employees in a town hall on Thursday that the company is preparing for the possibility that Chinese automakers could enter the American market in the next five to 10 years, even though the country has erected numerous trade barriers to cars from China, according to three people who viewed the meeting.
Farley has been among the most vocal about how competitive Chinese auto giants like BYD are in the industry. Ford is preparing to roll out a family of affordable electric vehicles that it engineered from the ground up to match the cost and efficiency of the Chinese companies.
The Ford chief, along with other senior leaders, said in a question-and-answer portion of the town hall that it is more likely Chinese companies would enter the market at the latter end of that range. The comments come as the U.S. Senate is pushing to expand a ban on Chinese car sales in the world's second-largest and most lucrative auto market.
A Ford spokesperson declined to comment on discussions that took place during a private meeting with employees.

Amnerican Flat Track has appointed NASCAR Hall of Famer Rusty Wallace the Grand Marshal of the Caterpillar Jackpine Gypsies Short Track. The Flat Track round will be held August 10 at the South Dakota track, during the 86th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

As questions once again intensify around the probe by the NBA's hand-selected law firm and a trade that would have sent Leonard to Toronto remains on pause, Torre challenged the league and commissioner Adam Silver directly in a Thursday appearance on The Dan Le Batard Show.
Torre echoed Le Batard's recent comments claiming the NBA is afraid that Ballmer could undermine the legitimacy of the league office and the collective bargaining agreement with legal challenges.
"What the league is worried about is Steve Ballmer, the richest owner in American sports, fighting in a way that other owners would not have the resources or the inclination to fight," he said.

Wide receiver Dante Pettis played his last snaps for the San Francisco 49ers in the 2020 season, but after spending the last few months on the market, he's found his new home.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Pettis is signing with the Buffalo Bills early in training camp.

Katie Nolan seems about as excited to call Boomer Esiason a colleague as Frank Isola was when Kenny Beecham joined SiriusXM Radio earlier this year.
Last week, Audacy announced a new partnership to make WFAN and 41 other local radio stations available on SiriusXM, which means Esiason's morning show with co-host Gregg Giannotti will soon be heard on satellite radio in addition to their usual platforms. Esiason and Giannotti will not be broadcasting their show from SiriusXM, and they won't be SiriusXM employees, but the new partnership between Audacy and SiriusXM is enough for Katie Nolan to kinda sorta call them colleagues. For Nolan and her producer Isabella Joson, that's a bad thing.
"You and your arch-nemesis are going to be co-workers," Nolan told Joson. "Of course we're referring to Boomer Esason. Isabella, not a huge fan."

From his rise as an Ohio State star to now a stud NFL receiver, Chris Olave is about to be compensated very well. Adam Schefter has reported that Olave will be signing a new 4-year contract extension with the New Orleans Saints that will pay him up to $132 million dollars.
The former Buckeye wide receiver standout was one of the most productive wide receivers in school history and has shown to be a valuable player at the professional level as well. Wednesday, Auburn women's tennis released its upcoming schedule for the 2026 fall.
The schedule provided by head coach Jordan Szabo, the Tigers will be competing through three Intercollegiate Tennis ****** ociation events for a bid in the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships. The individual championships will be held in November.
The Tigers open up the fall with the ITA All-American Championships in Cary, North Carolina on Sept. 19-27. Early October will see them in the ITA Southern Regional Championships in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on the 8th through 12th.
Then a trip to Rome, Georgia to compete in the RTC Collegiate Invite on Oct. 23-25 and then to Knoxville, Tennessee for the ITA South Sectional Championships on No. 5-8. If they advance, the NCAA Singles & Doubles Championships will be held in Athens, Georgia on Nov. 17-22.

Tarik Skubal came off the mound in the seventh inning Wednesday afternoon and the crowd at Comerica Park got up, just in case. It was the two-time reigning Cy Young winner's final start before the MLB trade deadline on Monday, Aug. 3 at 6 p.m. ET.

With five days left until the deadline, this is what the market has been waiting for. Skubal is the biggest name out there and he's headed for free agency after this season. Reports have rival executives believing the Tigers want to move him for a boatload of prospects.
Detroit's collapse, losing a seven-run lead and the game Wednesday, makes that even more realistic. The Tigers dropped to 51-58 and four games out of the final American League wild card spot.

The New York Giants began their 2026 training camp on Wednesday at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.
So, what better way to kick off camp than to play John Denver's 1971 classic "Take Me Home, Country Roads," a song that extols the great state's down-home beauty.
"Thrilled to be here," head coach John Harbaugh told the media after the team's first workout of camp. "The opening song of our meeting today was, of course, (Country Roads). You better believe it.
