Rhamondre Stevenson is positioned to produce meaningfully for the New England Patriots in 2026, but is he a player that will give fantasy football team managers more than they are anticipating next season?
According to NFL.com's Matt Okada, Stevenson is an undervalued player in the NFL for fantasy football next season, given his status as RB31 with an average draft position in round 10.
"Henderson should rebound from a poor playoff run, but I don't expect him to run away with New England's RB1 role," Okada said. "Stevenson should still see 200 touches, crack 1,000 yards and threaten for double-digit touchdowns. I see Stevenson as a David Montgomery-type from early in Jahmyr Gibbs' career: a solid RB2 with week-to-week RB1 upside, which is far more valuable than his draft costs suggests."
Stevenson recorded 603 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns in 2025. He did miss three games last season, which played a role in his numbers being down on the year. Nevertheless, it's not out of the realm of possibility to envision Stevenson going for the second 1,000-yard season of his career in 2026.
Given Henderson's role on the Patriots, coupled with the fact that many elite running backs are anticipated to produce bigger stat lines than Stevenson next season, the latter will be an undervalued player to watch.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Dodgers reliever Brock Stewart is headed to the 15-day injured list with right shoulder discomfort for the third time this season.
Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts on Friday called the move "proactive" and downplayed the severity. Stewart is scheduled to have imaging on Saturday.
The Dodgers selected the contract of left-hander Cole Irvin from Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he was 9-6 with a 3.58 ERA in 20 starts this season. He was expected to pitch as part of a bullpen game against the Boston Red Sox on Friday night. It would be Irvin's first appearance in a major league game since 2024.
Stewart, a right-hander, has a 2.45 ERA and one save in 14 games this season.
To make room on the 40-man roster, right-handed pitcher Chayce McDermott was designated for ****** ignment.

A U.S. District Court of Colorado judge granted a class-wide preliminary injunction that made all high school Class of 2022 athletes with exhausted eligibility eligible for the spring.
Boise State College of Business and Economics ******* ociate professor Sam Ehrlich, an ex-lawyer who writes about collegiate sports law and tracks litigation involving college sports, broke the news on Friday via his social media account.
The injunction means that Florida point guard Denzel Aberdeen's waiver for a fifth year should be granted, unless the NCAA appeals the ruling. Despite going ahead with the new five-for-five rules, athletes from the class of 2022, such as Aberdeen, were not included.
Aberdeen, who played just 41 minutes as a freshman, transferred back to Florida to finish his undergraduate degree after spending what would have been his senior year with the Kentucky Wildcats.
Florida head coach Todd Golden has fervently supported Aberdeen's quest for eligibility, calling it a "common-sense situation," back in April.

The SEC generally, and Georgia's schedule specifically is absolutely full of elite players. Along with the other preview series we're running here at Dawg Sports as fall practice looms, I thought it would be instructive to look at the ten best players the Red and Black will see this season. We begin with a Vandy defensive back who's going to have a lot on his shoulders this year.

Martel Hight, CB, Vanderbilt (vs. Vanderbilt, Oct. 3)
With Diego Pavia gone to the NFL, Vanderbilt's defense becomes the more proven side of the ball, and Hight is its anchor. In 2025 he led the SEC in interceptions among defensive players, finishing with four picks and 35 tackles despite Vanderbilt not placing any defenders on the All-SEC teams.
Hight has been a steady piece of the Vanderbilt secondary since his true freshman year, when he played in all 12 games and accounted for 38 tackles and an interception. As a sophomore he added 33 tackles, two interceptions, four passes defended, and a forced fumble, while also handling return duties. He was chosen to represent the program at SEC Media Days entering his senior season, a sign of the trust the staff has in his leadership as the Commodores transition to a new quarterback.
In 2025 the Commodore staff gave Hight a look at receiver, where he'd been a standout in high school. The move made sense with Diego Pavia at QB but question marks surrounding Vandy's receiving corps. Getting Hight, among the best athletes on the roster, more snaps to be explosiive made sense on paper.
On the field it was less of a winner. Hight was targeted just 11 times out of 55 offensive snaps, catching just 7 ***** and accounting for just 64 yards and no touchdowns. Hight played more than 10 offensive snaps in three of Vanderbilt's first four games, then never got that level of usage again. Just one throw went Hight's way after week four, as the staff seems to have realized his highest and best use is at corner.

LAWRENCE — As Bill Self reflected Wednesday on the run the Kansas basketball alumni team was making in The Basketball Tournament, he did so before JHX Hoops suffered a 78-65 defeat against La Familia.
JHX Hoops, KU's team, lost in the finals of the alumni portion of the bracket against La Familia, Kentucky's team. The defeat ended a run that saw JHX Hoops eliminate both Kansas State's alumni team and Wichita State's before reaching that point. JHX Hoops just fell short of being able to play for the TBT's $2 million prize, set to go to the winner of the matchup between the winner of the alumni side of the bracket and the winner of the non-alumni side of the bracket.
But Self, who coaches Kansas basketball, did provide some insight into JHX Hoops' TBT run that remains worthwhile to dive into. Self, who coached Sherron Collins and Tyshawn Taylor when they played at KU, followed what the alumni team was able to accomplish this year. Collins was listed as the team's head coach on the TBT website, while Taylor was listed as a player/GM/owner.

Indianapolis Colts' running back Jonathan Taylor has expressed his desire to remain with the Colts as he enters the final year of his contract. On Friday, owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon echoed similar sentiments.
"He's one of our pillars," Irsay-Gordon said, via the Indy Star. "His picture is on the stadium for a reason. I would love it if he'd be a Colt for life."
Taylor remains one of the most productive backs in football, while shouldering a heavy workload out of the backfield. He played in 13 games in 2024 and all 17 games last season, rushing for 1,431 yards and 1,585 yards, respectively.
Beyond all the yards and touchdowns, it is Taylor who sets the table for the Colts offense. With a strong and steady run game to lean on, that keeps the Colts out of predictable long down-and-distance situations and opens up the playbook for Steichen.
An extension would seem like a no-brainer, but it's not often around the NFL that we see running backs get a third contract with the same team, especially when the back has as many carries as Taylor does.

The Philadelphia Phillies are in desperate need of an outfielder, and they could target Heliot Ramos.
Ramos has three more years of club control and is a former All-Star. This year, he has played in 71 games and has a .739 OPS and nine homers. The San Francisco Giants will clearly be sellers, and the latest report from Bob Nightengale suggests Ramos is available.
"The Giants plan to keep outfielder Jung Hoo Lee and trade Heliot Ramos," Nightengale reported on Friday.
Of the two, Lee is having the better season. However, Ramos is no slouch. The Phillies have Brandon Marsh, but the other two outfield spots have been a disaster. Justin Crawford has struggled offensively, and Derek Hill's bat has cooled down after a hot start.

Two former Cincinnati high school standout tennis players have been awarded wild cards to the Cincinnati Open.
JJ Wolf (Cincinnati Country Day) and Vignesh Gogineni (Mason) were granted qualifying wild card spots, the tournament announced on Friday, July 31.
The main draw wild cards were awarded to former Cincinnati Open champion Grigor Dimitrov, three-time Major champion Stan Wawrinka, Jack Draper and Gael Monfils.
Wolf, who has been ranked as high as No. 39 throughout his career (2023), is on the comeback trail after shoulder injuries sidelined him for over a year. He has recently played in ATP Challengers in Bloomfield Hills, Lincoln and Cary.
Wolf is still searching for his first main draw victory in his hometown tournament. He lost in the Round of 64 in 2020, 2022 and 2023. In his last Cincinnati Open appearance, he fell in the opening round of qualifying.

The WNBA's all-time leader in blocked shots, Brittney Griner, has filed for divorce from her wife, Cherelle, mother of the couple's 2-year-old son.
According to court records in Fulton County, Georgia viewed by USA TODAY Sports, Griner filed for divorce on July 30. Attorneys for Griner wrote in her petition for divorce that her marriage is "irretrievably broken" with "no hope of reconciliation."
Griner, 35, seeks joint legal and physical custody of her child, fair and equitable distribution of all real and personal property acquired during the marriage, and equitable distribution of all debts.
The couple has been married since June 18, 2018, but court documents note they have been in "a bona fide state of separation" since July 24, 2026.
Griner played for the Atlanta Dream last season before signing a contract in free agency with the Connecticut Sun.

Veteran offensive lineman Andrus Peat announced his retirement on Friday.
Peat made the announcement in an Instagram post that said he "gave it everything I had" over the course of an 11-year NFL career.
Peat was a 2015 first-round pick in New Orleans and he spent nine seasons with the team. He played for the Raiders in 2024 and appeared in six games for the Steelers last season.
During his time with the Saints, Peat started 102 of the 111 regular season games he played. Peat was a Pro Bowl selection at guard from 2018-2020 and he also started six playoff games while with the team.

Before Matthew Stafford became one of the NFL's most dangerous downfield passers with the Los Angeles Rams, his game underwent a pivotal evolution with the Detroit Lions under former offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell.
Earlier in his career with the Lions, Stafford told The Athletic's Robert Mays that Detroit's offensive schemes prioritized horizontal efficiency to protect the quarterback. But when Bevell arrived in 2019, he completely altered Stafford's mindset regarding sack avoidance.
"In the offenses before that, sack avoidance was a huge thing and being efficient and all that," Stafford explained. "And the way that we did that in that offense was get the ball out of your hand fast. Let's get it underneath, let's try to catch and run... And I think when I played in Bev's offense, sack avoidance was, 'Hey, if it's not there, check it down.' Those were the things that kept the sticks moving rather than just calling things underneath and then every once in a while giving an opportunity to throw."
Stafford's yards per passing attempt increased by almost two years between his 2018 season in Jim Bob Cooter's offense and the 2019 season with Bevell. And while Stafford only spent two seasons with Bevell before his 2021 trade to the Rams, he averaged 8.0 yards per attempt versus 7.1 in the previous 10 seasons. Stafford also averaged 9.4 intended air yards per attept under Bevell after averaging just 6.9 under Cooter.
Bevell encouraged Stafford to push the ball downfield aggressively on unexpected downs, leveraging his elite arm strength to manipulate deep zone coverages. Stafford recalled a pivotal moment during a matchup against the Raiders in Oakland that exemplified this shift.

At the end of a tumultuous tenure, most rational Ohio State fans can agree that The Team Up North finally did something right when it hired Kyle Whittingham. The new head football coach is as classy as they come, and in the twilight of his career, he'll stabilize a program that has been riddled with controversy for the past several years. Buckeye Nation may dislike the guy because of the colors he'll wear on Saturday afternoons, but it would be a stretch to hate the man.
The new head coach at Michigan comes from a different era. One where you let your play on the field do the talking. An era where you played as hard as you could, and at the end of the game, you shake your opponent's hand after a hard-fought competition. No flag planting. No shoulder checks in the tunnel. No standing at midfield hoping for a brawl. Just respect for the game. And that's exactly what Whittingham brings to this next edition of the rivalry.
When asked about the hatred that has boiled over in recent years, Whittingham didn't hold back. It was a response that some fans on the fringe will scoff at, but a refreshing response for those of us who love the game and love this rivalry.
"I've learned how intense that rivalry is and how important the game is," Whittingham said at Big Ten media days. "Hate is a strong word, but I want to win that game as badly as anybody in Ann Arbor."
What an outstanding answer. This is what athletics was meant to be. Leave it all on the field and let the chips fall where they may.

Port Vale have continued their recruitment drive before the start of the new season with the signings of defenders Aaron McGowan and Lewis Montsma on one-year deals.
McGowan, 30, has been on trial at Vale Park following the end of his contract with Tranmere Rovers this summer.
He played under Vale boss Jon Brady at Northampton Town and helped the Cobblers win promotion to League One in the 2022-23 season.
Dutchman Montsma joins Vale following the expiration of his contract with Dundee this summer.
The 28-year-old started his senior career with Dordrecht in the Netherlands and moved to Lincoln City in July 2020.

England men's team managing director Rob Key has not ruled out the possibility of Ben Stokes returning to international cricket before next year's Ashes, saying "anything is possible with Ben."

Stokes stepped down as England's Test captain and retired from international cricket after England lost the Test series to New Zealand 2-1 in June. That defeat came after a 4-1 Ashes series loss to Australia during the previous winter.

The 35-year-old had also been ruled out of the second Test against New Zealand after breaching a midnight curfew while celebrating England's victory in the opening Test.

There was speculation after the incident that Stokes was unhappy with the way he had been treated by England's management. On Thursday, England brought back Joe Root as Test captain and appointed Stephen Fleming as Brendon McCullum's replacement as Test head coach.

Asked if Stokes could return in time for next year's Ashes, Key told Sky Sports News: "It would be a brilliant story if he does."

Speaking after Fleming's appointment, Key said Stokes had given no indication that he wanted to return but admitted he would not be surprised if that changed.

"It would be a brilliant story if he does," Key told Sky Sports News. "He hasn't [indicated a change of heart], but I wouldn't be surprised. Anything is possible with Ben."

When asked if Stokes had damaged his relationship with England by announcing his retirement during the fourth day of the Trent Bridge Test, Key said: "No, not at all. Not as far as I'm concerned."

Since retiring, Stokes has focused on playing for Durham. He scored a century on his return last week in a One-Day Cup match, which was played on the opening day of The Hundred.

As long as Stokes continues playing domestic cricket, discussions about a possible England comeback before the 2027 Ashes are expected to continue.

Tennessee State football practice is under way with a battle for the starting quarterback position between returning starter Byron McNair and two transfers − Daylin Lee from Winston-Salem State and Marcelis Tate from South Florida.
Second-year coach Reggie Barlow said no one is ahead of the others as the Tigers prepare for their season opener on Aug. 29 against Jackson State in the John Merritt Classic at Vanderbilt.
All three quarterbacks worked with the first unit at practice on July 31. Barlow said he hasn't ruled out giving freshman Justin Patton from McCalla, Alabama, a shot at the job if none of the older players take the reins.
"Daylin's experience speaks for itself; he had a real good command (at Winston-Salem State)," Barlow said. "Tate, for a young guy, he looks like an older guy, but he's only played one year. He's a good player. And, of course, we've got Byron, and then there's Justin (Patton), a freshman who's a good football player. He was here in the spring as an early enrollee."
It is a similar situation to what Barlow faced at TSU last year when three quarterbacks were locked in a battle for the starting ******* ignment among Jonathan Palmer, Caleb McCreary and McNair. Palmer earned the starting position at the start of the season before McNair unseated him in the third game. Palmer returned as the starter later in the season.

Rutgers offensive lineman Kwabena Asamoah was one of the three player representatives that the Scarlet Knights sent to Big Ten media days to speak on behalf of the program. He was joined by wide receiver KJ Duff and running back Antwan Raymond, who largely spoke about their decision to return to Rutgers. Asamoah's line of questioning was a little bit different, with his first major question revolving around the leadership he will bring to the Rutgers offensive line room this season.
With graduations and the transfer portal, Asamoah, who was named an All-American by ESPN last season, is the only returning starter on the Rutgers offensive line who played all 12 games at the same position.
"For me, it puts me in a position to, like you said, be a leader. That's an honor to me personally. When I came in as a young 17 year old there were guys on the team that helped me become the player I am today, so I am just blessed, and I am grateful to have the opportunity to do the same for others," said Asamoah when asked about what his experience means to him as he becomes a leader on the offensive line.
He was also asked about the relationship between the offensive line, the offensive line coach Jim Turner, and Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano.
"With our new coach, Coach Turner and Coach Schiano, I feel like they are on the same page, and coach Ciarrocca as well, I feel like they are all on the same page with how they want the offensive line to play and how they want the offense to operate, so you know with coach Turner coming in, we have been working hard at being violent, being passionate, you know playing hard every single down, so I am really excited for what this year holds," said Asamoah.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — As if two-way player Travis Hunter doesn't already have enough on his plate.
The week before the Jacksonville Jaguars opened training camp, Hunter was photographed wearing a police vest posing with Sheriff T.K. Waters and members of the Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department. It had the look of a ride-along, though Hunter wasn't saying.
"I was just out there just having fun with Sheriff T.K.," Hunter said Friday.
Hunter, the Heisman Trophy winner out of Colorado whom the Jaguars made the No. 2 pick in last year's draft, has enough to keep him occupied in training camp. Hunter is returning from injury, his rookie year ending two months into the season when he tore knee ligaments during noncontact drills.
In seven games, he played 324 snaps at receiver and 162 snaps at cornerback. The plan to use him on both sides of the ball has not changed, especially after the Jaguars shored up the core of their secondary by re-signing Montaric "Buster" Brown in March.

Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal will likely be the biggest domino to fall before the 2026 MLB trade deadline. Plenty of other big names have emerged in rumors, however, from former Cy Young winners to one of the league's top sluggers.

Any Carolina Panthers fan could tell you that you have to be wary of training camp superstars. (Do any of David Gettis, Stephen Hill, Devin Funchess or Terrace Marshall Jr. ring a bell?)
But there are some who do go on to make great careers for themselves. Perhaps the best the Panthers have ever had in this category is former left guard Andrew Norwell, who has been named the franchise's greatest preseason/training camp riser in its history by ESPN.

Norwell went undrafted in 2014 despite making the All-Big Ten Conference team twice at Ohio State. He impressed coaches with his mean streak and ability to learn the playbook quickly, and that got him a spot on the 53-man roster coming out of training camp. Norwell was starting at left guard by Week 8 of his rookie season and went on to start for nine years in the NFL...
Norwell went on to start in 127 of his 128 career games. 54 of those starts came in Carolina, where he played a part in the 2015 Super Bowl run and earned a first-team All-Pro nod in 2017.

The New York Jets held another eventful training camp practice on Thursday. The biggest takeaway was the performance of rookie defensive end David Bailey.
The No. 2 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft was consistently disruptive and in the backfield during Day 2.
Bailey recorded three would-be sacks at practice and added additional quarterback pressures throughout the practice, according to reporters in attendance. The former Texas Tech standout was described as completely unblockable. Starting guard Joe Tippmann admitted Bailey has been a total handful for offensive tackles Armand Membou and Olu Fashanu.
Thursday's session was the final Jets practice of training camp without pads. The mood and intensity will totally change this weekend when the Jets hold their first padded practice of camp. It finally starts to simulate real football, so it'll be worth monitoring Bailey's progress once preparation for the regular season officially begins.
The Jets drafted Bailey to help transform a pass rush that was totally ineffective by ranking 31st in the league last season. The athletic pass rusher has displayed dynamic first-step explosiveness at training camp so far. Iron sharpens iron, and both Fashanu and Membou have been tested by Bailey's athleticism.

Fortunately, they'll face a pitching staff that is seventh-worst with a 4.68 FIP, though it's not like the White Sox were much better in that department and were still largely able to silence the Yankees in the final two games of their just-completed series.
Will Warren is coming off one of his worst starts of the season — six runs on six hits in three innings against the Phillies. It's already the fifth start in which he has given up at least five runs, four of those coming since June 20th, Warren posting a 6.57 ERA over his last eight starts after opening the season at 7-1 with a 3.22 ERA across his first 12 starts. To me, the problems appear to be threefold: he can't get lefties out, he struggles to pitch from the stretch, and he suffers a massive third-time-through penalty. That doesn't bode well against a Cubs lineup that features five batters from the left side and is second in baseball with a .340 OBP. In 20 starts, Warren is 7-5 with a 4.41 ERA (102 ERA+), 4.16 FIP, and 102 strikeouts in 102 innings.
The Cubs declined their three-year team option on Shota Imanaga over the winter after he struggled in 2025, the two sides eventually reuniting on the qualifying offer for 2026. He has rewarded that renewed faith with a rebound performance, gaining a mph back on his fastball which has seen his chase and strikeout rates tick back up to his stellar rookie campaign marks in 2024. The 32-year-old lefty relies on hitters getting themselves out rather than overwhelming you with stuff, the four-seamer acting as a setup pitch for his splitter and sweeper. The Yankees are getting him at an awful time as Imanaga is coming off consecutive scoreless starts of at least six innings. In 21 starts, Imanaga is 7-8 with a 3.72 ERA (109 ERA+), 4.39 FIP, and 113 strikeouts in 121 innings.
The Yankees opt for their usual lineup against lefties, but with a pair of notable changes. Jazz Chisholm Jr. is not in the lineup after exiting yesterday's loss in the 11th with cramps, which allows Spencer Jones a rare start against a lefty in right as José Caballero is forced to man second. Amed Rosario, Anthony Volpe, and Ali Sánchez will be tasked with carrying their weight with the supposed platoon advantage against the soft-tossing lefty.
The Cubs stack their lineup with lefties against Warren. CHICAGO -- Bryce Underwood has been outspoken about his hopes, dreams, and his talents. And sometimes, that's rubbed people the wrong way.
The former No. 1 overall recruit in the country has said he plans to win multiple national championships and a Heisman Trophy -- and that was before he ever even took a true college snap. He also told Big Ten Network last offseason, 'Nobody's seen a freshman like me.' So, when he had a bit of an up-and-down year, it rankled a lot of feathers -- both within and outside of the Michigan football fan base.
And then, after getting national criticism in the wake of former NFL star Eric Weddle's comments that he will be benched in favor of a backup, Underwood appeared at his own youth football camp and proclaimed that he would be the best player out of Michigan.
Many questioned what that meant. Was it the best recruit out of Michigan? Best football player from the University of Michigan? Either way, those are lofty shoes, especially considering former Detroit (Mich.) King star Dante Moore is one of the Heisman Trophy frontrunners and thought to be the likely No. 1 overall pick in the 2027 NFL draft coming out of Oregon.
Still, Underwood clarified that he meant recruit from the state, and his confidence comes from having played against Moore and other top talent in high school.

Bay FC announced today the acquisition of Racing Club de Avellaneda forward Agostina Holzheier. The Argentine international has signed a four-year contract through 2029 with an option for an additional year. Her addition to the roster is pending her P-1 visa and International Transfer Certificate.
"I'm very happy and proud to join Bay FC," said Holzheier. "This is an exciting opportunity to take the next step in my career, challenge myself in a new league and represent a club with big ambitions. I'm coming with a lot of energy, ready to work, learn from my teammates and the staff, and give everything for this team and its supporters. I can't wait to get to the Bay Area and begin this new chapter."
The 22-year-old arrives at the Bay club after spending three-plus seasons with Racing and having played for River Plate and Brazilian side Gremio. She leaves the Argentine league as one of the top goalscorers and having helped Racing to be at the top of the table. Holzheier also has represented her national team since 2021 and has helped Argentina qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup.
"I'm delighted to welcome Agostina to Bay FC," said Emma Coates. "She is an exciting, tenacious and creative player who will bring quality and intensity to our squad. The San Francisco 49ers on Friday made a handful of roster moves to bring in tight end Josiah Deguara and wide receiver Trenton Irwin.
In a pair of corresponding moves the 49ers waived cornerback Derrick Canteen and waived recently-signed TE Tanner McLachlan with an injury designation.
Deguara is a Santa Rosa native who entered the NFL in 2020 as a third-round pick of the Green Bay Packers. He spent four seasons in Green Bay, one in Jacksonville and one in Arizona. In six NFL seasons he has 12 starts in 77 games. Deguara has 53 receptions for 473 yards and three touchdowns as a pro. He has a real chance to stick on the back end of the roster depending on how many TEs the 49ers keep.
Irwin figures to be more of a camp body than an actual candidate to make the final roster. He was part of a workout that featured three veteran wide receivers earlier in the week. Irwin last played in the NFL in 2024 when he was with the Cincinnati Bengals where he spent his entire six-year career. During his Bengals tenure he hauled in 46 passes for 601 yards and five touchdowns.
The 49ers badly need WRs who can take reps in training camp and the preseason. As a seasoned pro it wouldn't be a surprise if Irwin does enough in camp to land a spot on the 49ers' practice squad.

What's the definition of "not going well?" How about playing a series against a team that came in on a 12-game losing streak, and getting swept? The series against the Marlins showed that it's not just one thing plaguing the Phillies at the moment, it's everything. Each loss came in a different fashion, with the one common thread being poor defense.
Next, the Phillies will travel to Baltimore to take on an Orioles team that theoretically should provide some opportunities for victories. However, considering how poorly the team has played since the All-Star Game, any future opponents could say the same thing.
Jackson Holliday was a can't miss prospect. The son of a former All-Star and first overall pick of the 2022 draft, Holliday was rated as the top prospect in baseball prior to the 2024 season. When he was called up to the majors in April of that year, it was expected that the middle infielder would become an instant star.
For every Phillies fan who complains that the team is too slow to promote their young players, just remember that not every prospect, no matter how touted they are, is going to be succeed immediately upon reaching the majors. Holliday struggled so much that the team quickly demoted him. (For the fans who want to trade every prospect, this is some ammunition for your case.)
He returned to the majors at the end of July that year, and while he wasn't awful, he certainly didn't look anything like the star that was promised. 2025 was slightly better as he hit 17 home runs, but his defense was subpar and his OPS was only .690.
