The Milwaukee Brewers are not an organization known for producing many power bats, but rather a team that focuses on developing toolsy players to play their style of baseball.
However, Andrew Fischer seems to be an exception. In a Minor League system full of players like Brice Turang, the Brewers have a player who's more Kyle Schwarber than anyone else. Andrew Fischer blasted his 47th home run of the Minor League season on Thursday, the most by a player since the turn of the century. However, his strikeout rate makes him an atypical Brewer.
His 47th home run passed Ryan Howard's 46 Minor League home runs in 2004 with the Philadelphia Phillies organization. Fischer is the first player to reach the 47 home run mark in a Minor League season since Tony Solaita in 1968.
Fischer's historic season is not over yet, as the Brewers' Double-A affiliate, the Biloxi Shuckers, still have four regular-season games left.

Last season, Arizona soccer (2-3-1) ended the season ranked No. 239 in Division I in goal differential at -6. With Big 12 play still to come, the Wildcats are No. 188 with a -1 goal differential. That's lower than their first opponent this week.
Northern Arizona (2-3-1) comes into Thursday's match ranked No. 159 with a +1 differential.
NAU is a team Arizona head coach Becca Moros and her Wildcats see a lot. Not only do the two teams play each other during the regular season most years, but they also face off during spring games.
If the last regular season game between the two is any indication, Arizona should have the opportunity to get itself right against the Lumberjacks. The Wildcats edged past NAU by the score of 1-0 in an exhibition in Flagstaff last season, but they had much more success when the two teams met in Tucson during the regular season two years ago. That match was a 5-0 Arizona victory. The last time the Wildcats scored five goals was almost exactly a year ago when they defeated GCU 5-2 on Sept. 14.
Last week's match against Dartmouth proved that it may not be so easy, though. Moros and her players felt they did enough to win that match, but they didn't capitalize on their chances. They outshot the Big Green 14-1 and had a 5-1 edge in shots on goal, but Dartmouth's only shot went into the net.

France's Arthur Gea was one point away from being the first lucky loser to reach a Grand Slam quarter-final - but three hours later he was out of the US Open.
Gea, 22, was unable to convert a match point in a third-set tie-break against Dutch opponent Botic van de Zandschulp, then could not serve out victory in the fourth set of a gruelling fourth-round contest.
Van de Zandschulp took full advantage to escape from the jaws of defeat, going on to secure a 3-6 6-7 (0-7) 7-6 (9-7) 7-6 (7-3) 6-4 win after five hours and 13 minutes - the fourth longest match on record at Flushing Meadows.
World number 87 Gea was not ranked high enough for the main draw when the US Open entry list was finalised, meaning he had to go through qualifying instead.
Seeded first, he lost to American Nishesh Basavareddy in the third and final round but earned a reprieve when 2022 finalist Casper Ruud withdrew injured on the eve of the tournament.

For the vast majority of the 2026 Italian Grand Prix, George Russell appeared completely in control of his own destiny. After pulling off a sharp opening-lap move on pole-sitter Pierre Gasly and surviving the Lap 3 red flag triggered by Charles Leclerc's crash, the Mercedes driver looked poised to convert his front-row start into a commanding victory at the Temple of Speed.
Instead, a critical strategic gamble under a late Virtual Safety Car completely upended the race, leaving Russell defenseless on fading rubber while his teammate Andrea Kimi Antonelli charged from the back of the grid to **** the win.
Mercedes opted for an extreme tire management strategy with Russell, keeping him out on a single set of hard compound tires following the early race stoppage. But when a late Virtual Safety Car period neutralized the field, the Silver Arrows pit wall was forced to make a high-stakes tactical call: preserve track position or pit for fresher, faster rubber.
While Russell remained out on track to protect the race lead, Antonelli and Red Bull's Max Verstappen both dove into the pits for fresh tires. The stark difference in grip proved decisive in the final laps, as Antonelli rapidly eliminated the gap and swept past Russell to claim an astonishing victory from 19th on the grid.
Speaking post-race, Russell admitted he never expected the team to bring Antonelli in.

Inter produced an epic comeback to beat bitter rivals Napoli 3-2 in a breathless Serie A showdown at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. Despite trailing by two goals at the 55-minute mark, Cristian Chivu's side summoned their champions' mentality to overturn the deficit and preserve their perfect start to the Scudetto defense.
There was nothing to separate Inter and Napoli at halftime, with both teams squandering several promising chances to open the scoring. Massimiliano Allegri's team enjoyed a dream start to the second half as Matteo Politano broke the deadlock against his former club only five minutes into the second half.
Buoyed by the Italian winger's opener, Napoli continued to push forward and quickly found what they may have considered a crucial second goal. Rasmus Hojlund launched a perfectly placed low shot into the bottom corner to put clear daylight between the sides, giving Inter a mountain to climb in the final 40 minutes of the game.
However, Lautaro Martinez couldn't have picked a better time for his first goal of the season. El Toro cut Napoli's lead in half only three minutes after Hojlund's goal to initiate the comeback. Still, Inter had to wait until the 82nd minute and Marcus Thuram's thumping header to level the score.
When it looked like they would share the spoils with Napoli, just like they did at this venue last season, Lautaro latched onto the loose ball inside the six-yard box and completed the turnaround. As a result, Inter maintained their 100% start to the season, while Napoli suffered their second consecutive defeat after losing to Como last week.

For the fourth straight game this preseason, Morgan challenged itself against a higher-classification team on Thursday night, and in the process enjoyed arguably its best performance to date.
Facing 5A's Bountiful, which was coming off back-to-back wins against Davis County 6A teams, Morgan took control in the second quarter with a dominant defensive performance as it cruised to the 37-14 victory over the visiting Redhawks.
"We were excited to play. Bountiful's a quality program, a really good program. We knew it was going to be a battle, so we just tried to prepare ourselves mentally for a tough fight," said Morgan coach Jared Barlow.
Morgan has now won straight games against Sky View, Park City and Bountiful since a difficult season-opening loss to Ridgeline.
Owen Gilson tossed a pair of TD passes in the win for Morgan, both to Owen Belliston, while George Thurston, Rhett Larsen and Miles Syndenham all added rushing TDs for the Trojans.

Tennessee freshman quarterback Faizon Brandon has a unique name with an interesting origin story that his parents love to tell.
Brandon will debut as the youngest starting quarterback in Tennessee history when the 18th-ranked Vols play Furman (1-0) on Sept. 5 (3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN+/SEC Network+) at Neyland Stadium.
College football fans will get accustomed to his saying Faizon Brandon. But where did the 18-year-old quarterback's name come from?
Here's the story that his parents told Knox News.
In 2008, Lenard and Rolanda Brandon were struggling to pick a name for their baby boy, whose birth was due that summer. Rolanda liked Zachary as a name for their first born, but Lenard was lukewarm.

It almost seems like scoring in a friendly against BVB helps you end up signing with BVB. Crazy coincidence, isn't it?"I was definitely happy about the goal. But now I'm glad to be here. It feels great."
What was it like to make the move on the very last day of the transfer window?"It's definitely hectic. A lot goes on behind the scenes. But you just have to keep your eyes on the goal. And keep your fingers crossed. We pulled it off. And now I'm here."
Exactly. It worked out in the end."Right. As soon as I heard about BVB's interest and we had a meeting, everything moved very quickly. Within just a few hours, there were advanced talks going on behind the scenes. So, as soon as I found out they were interested, I was ready to make the move."
Did you have any contact with your U21 national team teammate Jobe Bellingham?"I've spoken with Jobe over the last few days. He asked, 'What's going on with you?' And I told him I couldn't say for sure yet either. But we talked a lot. And he kept saying the whole time that I should come to BVB. I'm glad we'll be playing side by side now."
You're only 19 years old and have just come off a stint in France. Do you find it hard or easy to go abroad?"I think it's much easier now. The first time, you're really leaving your comfort zone. It's just uncharted territory. But now I'm more relaxed, more open, and mentally better prepared. I know what to expect by now."

The Baltimore Ravens entered training camp with a quarterback room that appeared largely settled. Lamar Jackson's place atop the depth chart was unquestioned. Tyler Huntley provided an experienced backup option. Beyond that, most attention centered on how the remaining quarterbacks would sort themselves out.
Few would have predicted Joe ******* nano would force his way into the conversation. The undrafted free agent arrived in Baltimore with no guarantees, alongside a more recognizable name in Diego Pavia. He wasn't among the organization's headline rookie additions. As training camp unfolded, opportunities were often difficult to come by, yet by the time the Ravens finalized their initial 53-man roster, ******* nano had accomplished something many longshots never do.
He made himself impossible to ignore.
Head coach Jesse Minter shed light on that journey while discussing Baltimore's roster decisions with the media. In doing so, he offered more insight into one of the Ravens' biggest surprises of the summer.
When asked why the Ravens chose to keep three quarterbacks, Minter's answer was straightforward. What he stated surfaced repeatedly throughout the discussion.

Britain's Harriet Dart ended a 19-month wait for a Grand Slam singles win by battling back to beat Peyton Stearns in the US Open first round.
World number 131 Dart had not won a main-draw singles match at a major since reaching the second round of the 2025 Australian Open.
The 30-year-old failed to qualify for four of the next six Grand Slams and fell at the first hurdle at the past two editions of Wimbledon after receiving a wildcard on each occasion.
Taken to three sets in all three of her US Open qualifying matches - including losing the opening set against Kristina Penickova and Heather Watson - Dart once again took the scenic route in New York on Monday.
Trailing by a set and a break against American opponent Stearns, who is ranked more than 75 places above her, she fought back to win 3-6 6-3 6-2.

CHICAGO – The Cincinnati Reds finished a long, meat-grinder road trip with an unlikely series win over the contending Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field Sunday, Aug. 30.
As tough as their gauntlet of a final stretch of games might have looked before their 7-5 victory in the series finale Sunday (Aug. 30), it might have just gotten uglier, pending the next medical exam on All-Star shortstop Elly De La Cruz.
De La Cruz, one of only two members of the Reds lineup who has performed consistently all season, left Sunday's game in the seventh inning because of "left quad tightness." His status as the team headed home with 25 games left on the schedule was not immediately clear.
For now, the Reds pocketed their third win in four games to finish a 4-5 road trip through Arizona, San Francisco and Chicago.
The better individual news for the Reds coming out of Sunday was the status of rising ace Chase Burns, who pitched two outs deep into the sixth against one of the best lineups in baseball to earn the victory, bouncing back six days after his worst start of the season, in San Francisco.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are reportedly moving on from Broderick Jones, with the fourth-year offensive tackle being traded to the Dallas Cowboys, according to multiple reports.
Pittsburgh will reportedly receive a third-round and a sixth-round pick in the deal, sending Jones and a fourth-rounder to Dallas. Jones, a former first-round pick is entering his fourth season in the league.
Despite establishing himself as a starter, Jones had a significant amount of competition on the Steelers' offensive line heading into the season. In Pittsburgh's first depth chart of the year, Jones was listed as the second-string left tackle behind Troy Fautanu.
Meanwhile, the arrival of Max Iheanachor as the 21st overall pick this year also gave the Steelers some strong depth at right tackle, making Jones' ability to switch less likely.
Jones was selected by the Steelers in the first round of the 2023 draft, going 14th overall. He became a de facto starter in his second year, though his season last year was cut short by a neck injury.

The final game of the Seattle Seahawks' 2026 preseason is just hours away, and once the game ends it'll be all about forming the 53-man roster and 16-man practice squad for the regular season.
Seattle wraps up its August on the road versus the Kansas City Chiefs, whom they'll be seeing in the regular season at Lumen Field at the end of October. There will be no starters playing for the Seahawks and highly likely the same will apply to the Chiefs, so it's one last chance for players who are just trying to make the team.
NFL preseason television rights are different than regular season, so we're here to simplify tonight's situation. KING-5 NBC, Seattle's flagship station for Seahawks preseason games and other local Seahawks television programming, is carrying Seahawks-Chiefs locally. KING-5's broadcasts are also shown on other television affiliates in the Seahawks' secondary markets, which include Alaska, Oregon, Idaho, and Hawaii. Then there are mobile and online streaming options whether you're in Seattle, somewhere else in the USA, or overseas!
Here's a quick How to Watch guide.
On Friday, Aug. 28 at 5 pm PT, with pre-game coverage on KING-5 starting at 4:30 pm PT.

Como director Carlalberto Ludi admits advanced talks with Fiorentina for Moise Kean, but warns they are 'stalling' on Samuele Ricci from Milan. 'We're not sure yet.'
The director of sport spoke to Sky Sport Italia in the wake of the Champions League draw, the first in the club's history.
It will see them face the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Manchester United in the tournament, a remarkable achievement considering they were in Serie B just three years ago.

Kim Mulkey lost a key piece to her frontcourt suddenly on Monday.
LSU women's basketball announced that center Kate Koval opted to leave the program due to personal reasons.
"Kate came to see me on Sunday and told me that after much consideration, she will be leaving the program for personal reasons," Mulkey said in a statement. "We will respect her privacy on her decision, but we had a long talk about it, and it was a hard decision for her. I know it is hard because she loves LSU. Kate is a great person. She has to do what she feels is right for her, and we fully support her in that. We wish her all the best."
Koval transferred in to play for LSU last season after starting her career at Notre Dame. She started 17 games and averaged 8.3 points and 6.3 rebounds while shooting 56% from the field per contest. She helped LSU reach the Sweet 16, too. It's unclear where Koval will end up playing next, though she can not join a new program for the 2026-27 campaign.
While specifics of her departure aren't known, there is speculation that it has to do with LSU's signing of 17-year-old Anna Minaeva.

When Andrew Rappleyea was deciding whether to stay at Penn State or transfer after last season, he received a message from new Nittany Lions offensive line coach Ryan Clanton.
"Coach Clanton sent me a picture of one of our formations," Rappleyea recalled. "It was 14 personnel (one running back and four tight ends). He said, 'We need you here.' It was pretty funny. They use tight ends a lot. They produce them. They have good ones."
The Nittany Lions have several of them this season, giving them a deep group and perhaps the strongest position on the team.
Ben Brahmer, Gabe Burkle and Cooper Alexander transferred from Iowa State to join Matt Campbell, their coach with the Cyclones. Rappleyea, Finn Furmanek and Brian Kortovich remained at Penn State.
Brahmer, Burkle and Rappleyea will see plenty of time on offense; Alexander and Furmanek will see their share of action.

Bangladesh coach Phil Simmons expects Australia to respond strongly in the second Test after his side recorded a nine-wicket win in the series opener in Darwin.

The result was Bangladesh's first Test victory on Australian soil and was described by Australian media as the "Darwin Disaster". Simmons said his players cannot afford to relax when they face the World Test Championship leaders in Mackay from Saturday.

"The only thing I had to say to them - and I will repeat it anyway - is that Australia is going to come harder," Simmons said.

"We have to either keep that level of performance or get a little bit better. Even if we have to get 1% better in some areas, then we will have to make sure that that's there."

"But we know that they are going to change their game. They are going to come harder at us."

Simmons said the victory in Darwin was among the most satisfying results of his coaching career in Test cricket.

Bangladesh could also retain the same XI for the second Test despite left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam pushing for a return. Shoriful, who has taken 27 wickets in 13 Tests, missed the first Test because of a hamstring injury.

"He offers something different. But again, we just won a test match," Simmons said.

"I'm one ... who hardly likes to change winning teams. So it's a possibility, but I can't really say."

Australia, meanwhile, confirmed one change to their team on Friday. Matt Renshaw will open the batting in place of Jake Weatherald, who was dropped on Tuesday.

Captain Pat ****** mins had also considered playing four pacers by bringing in Scott Boland and leaving out spinner Nathan Lyon, but the final XI was confirmed after training.

Cummins said Australia need to produce a better performance in Mackay.

"I think if we play really well and we lose, you feel like you need to do some soul searching," he told reporters.

"I certainly felt like we didn't play anywhere near our best, and they played really well and they deserved to win. So, I think it's going back to when we play well."

"I think everyone's in a pretty good nick. So it's just about translating our form into actually a good result."

Liam Lawson was alerted about his Red Bull F1 chance as he arrived backed to United Kingdom from holidays, as he heads into the weekend with pressure but as much.
After his unceremonious departure from Red Bull in F1 2026 after completing just the two races, Lawson returns to the seat he vacated alongside Max Verstappen for this weekend in Dutch GP at Circuit Zandvoort. This is a second time he has been called-up in this way at this venue.
Few years back, he drafted in from Saturday at Racing Bulls for Danile Ricciardo, who injured his hand in practice. Co-incidently, he is replacing Isack Hadjar at Red Bull, who has injured his wrist in summer break. At least this time, Lawson has more days to prepare for the F1 weekend.
He got to know on Monday about the Red Bull F1 chance when he arrived back in the UK after his holidays. He managed one simulator session at Milton Keynes after all the seat fitting. But his preparation hasn't been any different, just that the eye to the details has been more.
The power unit is the same but it will be getting used to the chassis and car, especially in a F1 sprint weekend with just the one practice. There is pressure but not as much, with his future also on the line, considering the rumours around the promotion of Nikola Tsolov.

Former Georgia Bulldogs offensive tackle Bo Hughley is expected to have a significant role for the Colorado Buffaloes and coach Deion Sanders his season. Hughley is in the lead to be the Buffaloes' starting left tackle this fall.
Hughley started games against Auburn and Alabama during Georgia's 2025 season and is a former top-100 recruit. He played a key role in Georgia's overtime win at Tennessee last fall. Hughley earned a 62.1 Pro Football Focus grade, including a 73.9 pass-blocking grade and a 59.3 run-blocking grade. He allowed just three total pressures and appeared in 10 games.
The 6-foot-7, 300-pound offensive tackle has the size and talent to succeed at Colorado. Hughley was ranked as a three-star transfer and has two seasons of eligibility left.
"I'm happy with where Bo (Hughley) is heading, he's not where he has to be yet," Colorado offensive line coach Gunnar White said.
Hughley made Pick Six Previews' All-Transfer team in the Big 12. He is hoping to start for Colorado as the Buffaloes look to improve after going 3-9 in 2025. Coach Sanders is still looking for his first bowl win.

TORONTO, CANADA - AUGUST 15: Ricky Tiedemann #33 of the Toronto Blue Jays speaks to the media after being called up from Triple-A ahead of an MLB game against the New York Yankees at the Rogers Centre on August 15, 2026 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. (Photo by Mark Blinch/Getty Images)
The Toronto Blue Jays have spent the past few series climbing back into the American League playoff race, and their recent surge has made every potential addition to the roster more meaningful.
After series wins against the Philadelphia Phillies, Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees last week, the Blue Jays sat just outside of an AL Wild Card spot, turning what looked like a fading postseason opportunity into new hope for an October run.
Cubs' Clay Holmes Sends Injury Warning After Blockbuster Mets Trade
The team's surge has been fueled by a number of young roster additions, but none was more intriguing than the debut of former top prospect Ricky Tiedemann, whose long-awaited big-league outing came after nearly two years away from competitive pitching.
