College basketball player dies after being injured during game

A basketball player at a junior college in Oklahoma who was injured during a game has died, school officials said.
Connors State College sophomore Ethan Dietz died Tuesday after he was injured during the second half of a game Saturday in Texas, the school said in a statement posted to its Facebook page. A spokesperson for the college, Shannon Rigsby, said initial reports indicate Dietz suffered some kind of head injury, but that she didn't have any more information.

Tornado leaves behind 'significant' path of destruction in Houston area

More than 100 homes were damaged Monday afternoon after a tornado ripped through Harris County, Texas, Constable Mark Herman said in a Facebook post.
No serious injuries or deaths have been reported after the storm, said Brian Murray, spokesperson for the Harris County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.

Meta has announced it would start deactivating the Instagram and Facebook accounts of its Australian users under 16 from 4 December, a week before the government’s law to ban social media for teens takes effect.
The tech giant had previously indicated it would begin removing access to accounts for those under 16 only as the law was enacted on 10 December.

A US district judge on Tuesday ruled against the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in its antitrust lawsuit against social media giant Meta (META).
In his ruling, Judge James Boasberg said the FTC failed to prove that Meta purchased Instagram and WhatsApp with the goal of eliminating them as competitors in the social media market.
The FTC was seeking to force Meta to divest itself of both Instagram and WhatsApp, despite the commission originally approving their purchases in 2012 and 2014, respectively.
