FC Barcelona completed their final training session at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper on Friday. The Blaugrana are putting the finishing touches to their tactical preparations before hosting Deportivo Alavés in another crucial league fixture, especially after the heavy blow suffered in El Clásico.
The main news from the training ground was the confirmed absence of Jules Koundé. The French defender did not join the rest of the squad for training and has been ruled out of the match against the Vitoria-based side.
The full-back joins an already lengthy injury list. Players including Eric Garcia, Andreas Christensen, Xavi Espart, Dani Olmo and Roony Bardghji continue their recovery programmes away from the main group.
With so many players unavailable, the coaching staff have had to reorganise the defence and midfield. Tactical changes to the starting line-up are expected to keep the team competitive.
All eyes now turn to the press room. German coach Hansi Flick will address the media at 13:00 to preview the match and ******* s the squad's fitness.

CAIRO (AP) — The Africa Cup of Nations will continue every two years after the Confederation of African Football announced on Friday it voted unanimously to revoke the decision to move the tournament to a four-year cycle.
CAF announced last December that the Africa Cup would be held every four years, starting from 2028, allowing a proposed new competition — the African Nations League — to take place for the first time in 2029.
The decision at the time, bringing the competition to a schedule that aligned with FIFA's international calendar, rankled many at the Africa Cup in Morocco, with some saying it was made with European wishes at heart to the detriment of African interests.
CAF said in October that it was reconsidering the matter.
"The decision by the CAF EXCO that the CAF AFCON should take place every two years was based on advancing, protecting and promoting the interest of African football and CAF's 54 member ******* ociations, as well as the interest of African players employed by football clubs outside Africa," CAF President Patrice Motsepe said in a statement.

Angelique S. Chengelis, Connor Earegood, John Niyo, and Bob Wojnowski of The Detroit News predict the outcome of Saturday's Michigan-Rutgers game at SHI Stadium in Piscataway, New Jersey (12:30 p.m., Big Ten Network/94.7 FM).
▶ Angelique S. Chengelis: Rutgers coach Greg Schiano has always been tied to defense, but the Scarlet Knights have struggled defensively this season and ranks 128th in scoring. That could make this the "get-right" game for Michigan's offense, which is sorely in need of a confidence-building performance, especially from the run game and offensive line. Michigan's No. 3-ranked defense likely won't have the challenge it was expecting now that Rutgers QB Dylan Lonergan has been ruled out. He left last week's game at Northwestern in the first quarter because of a hit to the head and backup AJ Surace has struggled with six touchdowns against five interceptions this season. Michigan's defensive backs were expected to have their hands full facing 6-foot-6 receiver KJ Duff, but he is "doubtful" for the game, according to the Big Ten availability report. Pick: Michigan, 31-10
▶ Connor Earegood: Rejoice, Jason Beck. You're going to save your job this week. This Michigan offense may be wasting one of the nation's best defenses, but it will get an important tune-up against Rutgers. You know, the Rutgers team that lost to UMass, which is 1-3 in Mid-American Conference play. Oh, Rutgahs. Its availability report suggests some key starters will not play. Its starting QB is hurt, its star receiver is doubtful. A one-read quarterback could probably pick its defense apart at full strength. That's a good opponent for a true freshman in Tommy Carr to face in his second career start, after the **** er of the unknown wore off last week and showed you that maybe, just maybe, it isn't the guy under center who's the problem but rather the guy calling his plays. If Beck takes some inspiration from the Michigan Stadium videoboard and runs the ball between the tackles from time to time, Michigan should roll to an easy win. If it's another stinker, it will make for an interesting crowd in next week's rivalry game. Pick: Michigan, 34-7
▶ John Niyo: If Rutgers can't cure Michigan's offensive woes, nothing will. Greg Schiano's days appear numbered in Piscataway, and the statistical numbers make it obvious why: Rutgers ranks 128th nationally in scoring defense and has given up 161 points in four Big Ten games thus far. Of course, that's more points than the Wolverines have scored in seven games this season. But this defense should be the cure Michigan's inefficient run game needs, and no matter who's playing quarterback, there'll be opportunities to create explosive plays in the pass game. In four Big Ten games, Rutgers already has given up 15 plays of 30-plus yards. Pick: Michigan, 34-16
▶ Bob Wojnowski: There's no such thing as a breather for the Wolverines, with six of their seven games decided on the final possession. Last week's OT loss to Indiana wa

Lewis Hamilton says he is unlike any driver Formula 1 has seen before and reaffirmed a determination to keep racing into his mid-forties.
The seven-time world champion recently said he wanted to continue in the sport to fulfil a dream of racing in Africa, having campaigned for a Grand Prix there for many years.
F1 has signed a 10-year deal with the central-east African country of Rwanda starting in the early 2030s which will be a first race on the continent since 1993.
Hamilton is 41 and will be at least 45 when that race takes place, but he told a news conference before this weekend's Mexico Grand Prix that he should be considered a special case.
The Briton said F1 had "never had anyone like me in the 70 years" of the sport and he felt like he was "built differently".

Three academy players scored their first goals for Athletic Club's senior side inside four minutes as Edin Terzić's team beat Prat 6-1 in the Copa del Rey. The late burst came from substitutes in a side rotated with the Basque derby in mind.
On Thursday 29 October, Athletic met Prat in the Copa del Rey round of 128. The tie was played at the Estadi La Feixa Llarga in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. Its closing stages belonged to Athletic's academy.
Each of the late scorers had come off the bench. Selton Sánchez finished the night with the sixth goal, teed up by Vizcay, whose own strike had started the flurry.
Aritz Conde earned an 8.2 rating from the data provider for his half-hour on the pitch. Imga, aged just 17, had made his first-team debut alongside Vizcay against Getafe the previous Sunday.
EFE reported that Athletic picked a starting XI shaped by the coming Basque derby, giving chances to players such as Yohaneko, Sannadi and Nico Serrano. Those changes did not slow the visitors.

Real Madrid have played better in the past three games than they have all season, and it comes as no surprise as the side looks far more threatening in attack and has a sense of unity.
It simply cannot be ignored that Real Madrid's best level came after Vinicius Jr.'s suspension and it seems to be more causation than correlation between his absence and the team's improved displays.
Needless to say, the Brazilian star stands as the biggest loser from Los Blancos' current situation as his starting spot in the team is now under serious threat. At this point, there is no guarantee he will remain a starter after he returns from suspension.

As confirmed by El Chiringuito in a recent report, the Brazilian star is currently working very hard to turn his situation around and is holding double training sessions every single day.

All eyes will be on Gianluigi Donnarumma in net for Manchester City on Saturday.
On Wednesday night, City hosted Brighton with a spot in the Carabao Cup quarter-final on the line.
Despite the hosts starting on the front foot, Brighton took the lead just half an hour in through Malick Junior Yalcouye. The Malian winger found himself unmarked on the edge of the six yard box, played marginally onside by Ayyoub Bouaddi, from there a tap-in left the hosts trailing.
The opener spurred Maresca's side into action though, and just ten minutes later they were back level. Phil Foden found Mateo Kovacic just outside the area, and the Croatian international made no mistake with a wonderfully placed side-footed finish.
After the break it didn't take long for the visitors to take the lead once again. Georginio Rutter got himself goal-side of Mateo Kovacic and slotted home to the left of Geronimo Rulli, leaving Manchester City with all the work to do.

Hawks' Quin Snyder reveals 'growth' moment that helped break three-game losing streak appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
ATLANTA – After starting the season 2-0, the Atlanta Hawks had lost their last three games coming into their matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers. They've had several problems throughout the course of the week, but nothing was bigger than making shots, which in turn bled into their defense not getting stops when they needed.
It looked like that was going to be the case again for the Hawks in the first quarter, where they only scored 16 points. Luckily, they were able to turn things around in the second, and it felt like how things were when they first started the season. They scored 30 points in the second, while only allowing 16 points from the Cavs.
"It's harder to defend when you're not scoring because they're running at you," head coach Quin Snyder said after the game. "But even beyond that, you have to be mentally tough to dig in defensively, and we hung in there with that. Then the offense eventually started; we kind of settled in. That dynamic was a really important one in the game. That's growth for us."

Jürgen Klopp will announce his Germany squad on Thursday, November 5th, for the national team's final two UEFA Nations League group-stage matches of the year per iMiaSanMia.
Germany faces a trip to Belgrade to take on Serbia on November 13th before returning home to Berlin for a highly anticipated clash against the Netherlands on November 16th. Both fixtures will provide Klopp with another opportunity to evaluate his options as he continues shaping the national team in his first year in charge.
There will be plenty of intrigue surrounding Klopp's selections, particularly as Germany looks to finish the group stage strongly. Will the former Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund manager stick with the players who have featured in his previous camps, or will he introduce some fresh faces for the final international break of 2026? Certainly, he will have to take fewer players than he called up in September.
The squad announcement will also offer a clearer picture of Klopp's preferred core of players moving forward, with competition for starting places still wide open in several positions.
Germany has two important tests ahead, and Klopp will want to see his team deliver consistent performances against challenging opposition.

Mizzou Basketball lost their exhibition game against UNLV on Thursday night. The game didn't count, so as much as I'm not going to talk up their win over Kansas State, I'm not going to talk down this loss to UNLV. Winning always feel better than losing, regardless of whether the game counts or not. But it looked like Dennis Gates was willing to make a few concessions with his lineups early. Also, Jamier Jones, CJ Gunn, and Jaylen Carey were all sidelined and not dressed out.
Anyway, here's the box score screen cap from Statbroadcast:
There are 13 players listed as having played, but I don't remember Luke Northweather seeing the floor. But there was a lot to think about, so let me try to parse through things quickly, since the 9pm tip means I'm starting this out well after 11.
My biggest takeaway was that one team played a lot harder than the other. The Tigers didn't have their full foster of players, but neither did UNLV. But you could see early the Rebels were focused on crashing the glass and being incredibly physical.
Jason Crowe played 36 minutes, Toni Bryant played 28, Aidan Chronister played 15. Those three players were able to overwhelm K-State, a team who is very focused on skill. Against UNLV the three freshmen, and not just those three but the whole roster, just got bodied by the effort of the Rebels. Lindenwood transfer Dontrez Williams, a Sikeston native, was only 1-5 from the floor and scored just 4 points, but he was +21. Mainly because he was out there playing his ****** off.

The Green Bay Packers are 5-3 after beating the Carolina Panthers by a 27-19 final score on "Thursday Night Football" from Lambeau Field. There were **** ps along the way, especially early and late, but the Packers got three touchdown passes from Jordan Love and six sacks from Jonathan Gannon's defense to power what ended up being a winning performance.
Highlighting the good, the bad and the ugly coming out of Thursday night's win:
Jordan Love during the first three quarters, the adversity defense, and the pass-rush: Love was on fire for the first 45 minutes, completing 26 of his first 33 passes for 262 yards and three scores. He threw a pick early in the fourth quarter, starting a disappointing finish for the offense overall, but the Packers quarterback was terrific for most of the contest, playing on time from the pocket and consistently finding completions. Jonathan Gannon's defense was dominant at times, allowing only three points off three Packers turnovers, and the only three points came after the fumbled opening kickoff that gave the Panthers the ball in field goal range. It took a few crazy conversions for the Panthers to score a touchdown in the second half. The Packers were dominant up front, sacking Bryce Young six times and consistently disrupting the pocket.
The start, and most of the finish: How did the Packers open the game? By fumbling away the opening kickoff, dropping three first-quarter passes and committing a pre-snap penalty. The turnover spotted the Panthers three early points. To Green Bay's credit, the first quarter ended with the Packers leading. During most of the second and third quarters, the Packers were in complete control, leading 20-10 at the half and 27-13 with a chance to dagger the Panthers to start the fourth quarter. But Jordan Love threw a pick on the second play of the fourth, turning the game sharply, and the Panthers eventually scored on a 70-yard drive and had the ball down one score with a chance to tie the game. What should have been a comfortable, two- or three-score win ended up being a nail biter because the Packers made costly mistakes and couldn't run the ball. One more bad: Trey Smack missed an extra point, so the kicking worries continue to linger. The lost point mattered because it kept the Panthers within one score in the fourth quarter.
The run game. The Packers returned Aaron Banks to the lineup at left guard, and Josh Jacobs got a full workload against the NFL's worst run defense entering Week 8, but it wasn't nearly enough to awaken Green Bay's dormant run game. Jacobs turned 21 rushes into only 39 yards, and 18 of the Packers' 66 rushing yards came on a well-executed Savion Williams gadget play. The 25 designed runs to running backs gained all of 48 yards. Jacobs didn't have a run longer than six yards. It's possible the Packers run game just isn't going to happen in 2026. This is a historically bad start -- the Packers are just the 14th team since 1935 to rush for fewer than 500 yards

Carolina Panthers QB Bryce Young completed 23 of 41 passes for 209 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in a Week 8 loss to the Green Bay Packers.
SOURCE: USA TODAY
Why It Matters: It was clear from the jump that the Panthers wanted to control the game with Chuba Hubbard. It worked early, but once the Packers pushed out to a 27-10 lead, it was up to Young to move the ball. He had some success, mostly on quick-hitting passes, but was under constant duress, getting sacked six times on the night. The Panthers get a few extra days to regroup before facing the Broncos in Week 9. We'll see if that's enough to help get their protection issues sorted out and get Young back to the player he was in five games before the bye. Given his struggles over the last two weeks, however, it'd be a tough call to slot him into your starting lineup against Denver.

NEW YORK -- The Brooklyn Nets are just four games into their 2026-27 NBA season that they hope will be better than what they put forth during the 2025-26 campaign record-wise. Brooklyn has been trying to correct enough of their issues to hopefully win their first game of the season sooner than later, but the Nets made sure to take care of business with some of their youngest players.
The Nets announced on Thursday that they exercised the third-year team options for their entire 2025 NBA Draft class heading into Friday's NBA Cup game against the visiting Detroit Pistons. Brooklyn selected five players in the 2025 draft: guard Egor Demin, guard Nolan Traore, forward Drake Powell, guard Ben Saraf, and forward Danny Wolf and now, the quintet is under contract for the 2027-28 season.
"We brought them in for a reason. Obviously, picking up options is part of the management, but [it's] the belief on development and the type of people that we bring in," Fernandez said after Thursday's practice about the franchise's announcement. Brooklyn exercising the team options on the entire class was interesting given that only Demin and Traore have been seeing regular rotation minutes at this point in the season.
"We've been together for a little over a year and we believe that every single one of them has a future in this league. Everybody's got different paths to get there and that's okay. But, so far, I think that just proves that we believe in the process," Fernandez continued. While Demin and Traore have proven enough to see NBA minutes on a daily basis, Powell, Saraf, and Wolf will have to continue doing the work in the G League and in practice.
Demin will be out of action for the next week while he rehabs from a right leg bone bruise that he suffered in Tuesday's 125-124 overtime loss to the Boston Celtics, but Traore could just be hitting his stride. Traore entered the starting lineup for Tuesday's matchup against the Celtics and if he continues to produce, he and Demin could be starting together once the former BYU Cougar returns. With that being said, the entire "Flatbush Five" will be in Brooklyn next season.

Josh Reaume endured a challenging afternoon in Friday's Love's RV Stop 225 at Talladega Superspeedway, finishing 22nd after starting 33rd. The Team Reaume driver gained 11 positions during the event and briefly led one lap in his No. 22 Ford.
Reaume began the race near the rear of the field, facing the challenge of advancing through a competitive 36-truck lineup. However, the unpredictable drafting conditions provided several opportunities for competitors to gain positions as the running order constantly changed.
The first major accident occurred on Lap 17, collecting eight trucks and forcing NASCAR to temporarily stop the race. Reaume avoided elimination in that incident and continued battling for track position as the event progressed. His Ford also remained competitive during the second stage, when multiple drivers experienced tire problems and varying pit strategies reshuffled the field.
Reaume eventually moved into the lead for one lap, providing a notable moment during his afternoon. The final stage featured additional accidents and an overtime finish, but Reaume could not remain on the lead lap. He ultimately completed 82 laps and finished 22nd, four laps behind winner Sammy Smith.
The performance earned Reaume 15 points and represented an improvement of 11 positions from his original starting spot.

Thursday night's primetime matchup between the Green Bay Packers and the Carolina Panthers had a unplanned pause during the third quarter. With the Packers holding the ball while leading 20-10, the game was interrupted for several minutes as a result of a passing drone, according to the Amazon Prime broadcast.
The unauthorized drone had breached the edge of the stadium, leading the referees to pause the game for safety reasons. Per the broadcast, the teams were told to head back to their respective sidelines while they waited for the drone to leave, with the delay lasting several minutes.
Under Federal Aviation Admisitration (FAA) rules, drones are not allowed within three nautical miles of any stadium with more than 30,000 seats, with NFL games specifically mentioned in the guidelines; Green Bay's Lambeau Field has a capacity of 81,441. The rules for drones and model airplanes apply starting one hour before the game until one hour after.
Luckily, the Packers made sure the delay was worth it: On the very next play, quarterback Jordan Love found Josh Jacobs for a touchdown reception to give Green Bay a 27-10 lead.
This story will be updated.

Timberwolves' Rudy Gobert speaks up on his reluctance to throw it down appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
After Minnesota Timberwolves coach Chris Finch called out Rudy Gobert for his finesse plays during a combined 0-for-13 stretch, the starting center questioned his finishes as well. Amid a two-game skid, the Timberwolves lost Anthony Edwards to a knee injury that will keep him out for at least two months. As Minnesota will look to find success without their All-Star forward, many anticipate Gobert to step up offensively.
Instead, he finished with one point, four rebounds, and one steal in the Timberwolves' 119-114 loss to the Golden State Warriors. In addressing Finch's recent comments about finishing loud in the paint, Gobert agreed with the notion of dunking the ball more often, per Sports Illustrated Andrew Dukowitz.
"Sometimes I tell myself, 'Why didn't I dunk that, too?' I guess it depends," Gobert said. "I guess, most importantly, is to react, to be decisive. To be strong and to be decisive. If I'm going to dunk it, go dunk it. If they foul me and call it, it is how it is. But I gotta be more decisive and more balanced, more poised."

Frankie Muniz delivered an encouraging performance during Friday's Love's RV Stop 225 at Talladega Superspeedway, finishing 12th after starting 31st. The Team Reaume driver gained 19 positions during an afternoon filled with major accidents and unpredictable drafting conditions.
Muniz began the race near the rear of the field, facing the challenge of working through a competitive 36-truck lineup. His No. 33 Ford remained in competition during the opening stage while several drivers encountered significant problems. The first major accident occurred on Lap 17, eliminating multiple competitors and dramatically reshaping the running order.
Muniz avoided involvement in the incident and continued improving his position as the race progressed. Another accident on Lap 57 eliminated additional trucks, creating opportunities for drivers who had remained out of trouble. Muniz continued competing through the final stage and stayed on the lead lap as the field prepared for an overtime finish.
He ultimately crossed the finish line 12th, completing all 86 laps and finishing 10.163 seconds behind winner Sammy Smith. The result earned Muniz 25 points and represented an important performance during his 2026 Truck Series campaign.
His ability to advance through the field and complete the demanding superspeedway event provided a positive result for Team Reaume.

Bo Bichette's decision to opt into a second year with the Mets was not a surprise to anyone in the organization. He had one of the worst statistical seasons of his career offensively – not exactly the kind of year players try to ride into free agency. He spoke glowingly of new manager Andy Green. And he seemed to find comfort in the clubhouse and on the New York stage – as if he had arrived with something to prove and finally remembered he was capable of proving it.
But while the Mets have expected for several weeks now that Bichette would be back, his return nevertheless qualifies as crucial to their offseason. With Bichette, the Mets lineup in 2027 will include all the key components of a group that posted the fifth-best OPS in the majors after August 1… even with Juan Soto injured for part of that time.
The top of the order looked versatile and energetic when Francisco Lindor was healthy and leading off and Soto was healthy and hitting second and Bichette was behind them, putting the ball in play with Carson Benge there to drive everyone in. Bichette's return means the Mets can build on the offense they unearthed late last year, rather than having to reconfigure it.
But because Bichette's decision was not a surprise, expectations for the Mets season should not pivot because of it. They still need, and plan to pursue, starting pitching. They will still explore options to upgrade offensively at first base, though exactly how high they will aim – and how much money or prospect capital they are willing to spend there – remains unclear.
And they still seem likely to give one of their infield prospects a chance somewhere in the majors next season. With Bichette back, the most obvious place for a prospect to elbow in would be second, though because Bichette has also played second base, the Mets could make room for a prospect at third.

Landen Lewis produced one of the strongest recovery performances in Friday's Love's RV Stop 225 at Talladega Superspeedway, finishing sixth after starting 30th. The Niece Motorsports driver overcame a difficult qualifying effort and advanced 24 positions during the chaotic 86-lap event.
Lewis initially faced the challenge of working through a competitive field while navigating the changing drafting lanes. However, his No. 45 Chevrolet demonstrated impressive speed during the middle stages, allowing him to move toward the front. Lewis finished sixth in Stage 2, earning five additional points while establishing himself among the contenders.
He continued running competitively during the final stage, briefly leading the outside drafting lane as Tanner Gray challenged from the inside. The race's changing circumstances provided opportunities to gain positions, and Lewis avoided the accidents that eliminated several other drivers.
When the event entered overtime, Lewis remained among the leading competitors and positioned himself to capitalize on the final-lap battle. He ultimately finished sixth, just 0.272 seconds behind winner Sammy Smith. The result earned Lewis 36 points and marked another impressive performance during his part-time Truck Series campaign.
His ability to advance from 30th to sixth demonstrated the strength of his Chevrolet and his ability to compete in superspeedway racing.

One of the most basic realities of the NFL trade market is that, when a team adds a key player during a given season, someone will be taking a seat.
In Seattle, the "someone" who will be leaving the starting lineup after the arrival of guard Quenton Nelson is Anthony Bradford. With Nelson taking over at left guard and 2025 first-rounder Grey Zabel moving to right guard, former starting right guard Anthony Bradford will move to the bench.
"It's not an easy situation," coach Mike Macdonald told reporters on Thursday. "I thought Anthony played good football for us, and he has, and he's earned a significant role on our team, a starting-level role. It's one of those 'through not around' type of things with AB that is not easy.
"There's no way to sugarcoat it, and he believes this when we say this, how much we love him. The guys love him in the locker room. He's a fantastic teammate. We don't expect him to be jumping over joy in this situation because that's not realistic, but he's going to be a great teammate and he's going to stay ready.
"We know how this league works. You're a play away from him playing every play again. It's not an easy situation, but he's a tough cookie, and the guys will have his back as well and we're behind him as well, but it's not easy."

Oct. 29—VERMILLION, S.D. — Long before Austyn Modrzewski became the starting quarterback at the University of South Dakota, he was a first grader in Littleton, Colorado, who had already discovered something special about throwing a football.
He initially lined up at running back when he started playing tackle football. But it did not take long for those around him to recognize that the ball belonged in his hands, and preferably in the air. Even at that age, Modrzewski was doing something rare for a young player in his area: leading an offense that could throw the football.
By second grade, he was training specifically to play quarterback. Sunday mornings and several days throughout the week became practices for his mechanics, improving his footwork and developing a position that had already become his passion. By third grade, he was learning to read defenses.
Football was never simply something Modrzewski played. It was something he worked to understand. He competed across state lines, trained year-round and developed an appreciation for the quarterback position long before most children his age had even thought about their athletic futures.
"I always wanted to be a running growing up back because they always get the ball," Austyn Modrzewski said earlier this season. "And in the first practice, we didn't have a quarterback so I kind of just stepped up and started throwing some ****** . I had fun doing it, and I was like, 'I'm not half bad at throwing.'"

When left tackle Trevor Goosby went down with a torn patella tendon in the first quarter of last Saturday's win over the Ole Miss Rebels, the Texas Longhorns moved into a future without their All-American protecting the blind side of quarterback Arch Manning.
Taking over for Goosby? Another senior in 6'6, 339-pound Andre Cojoe, who was competing for the starting right tackle job in preseason camp last year before suffering a season-ending knee injury.
Entering the game, Cojoe had only played 56 career snaps for the Longhorns after arriving as an early enrollee in the 2022 recruiting class just before he turned 17. Ranked outside the top 100 prospects in Texas, Cojoe didn't face high expectations when he got to the Forty Acres, but the athleticism he possessed at his size made him an intriguing long-term developmental prospect.
Now Cojoe has had the time to develop and the left tackle position will be his for the remainder of the season unless head coach Steve Sarkisian and offensive line coach Kyle Flood make the unexpected decision to flip Cojoe to the right side and move senior Melvin Siani back to the left tackle position he occupied last season at Wake Forest.
But that move sacrifices the offensive line's continuity the staff was able to maintain when Goosby missed multiple weeks of practice while recovering from a bone bruise in his knee sustained during preseason camp.

GREEN BAY − Green Bay Packers starting cornerback Keisean Nixon was a late addition to the injury report hours before the team was set to the host the Carolina Panthers on Thursday night.
Nixon (shoulder) eventually was cleared to play and will suit up for the Packers at Lambeau Field.
Devonte Wyatt (ankle) was questionable to play after briefly leaving the Detroit Lions game with an ankle injury, but he's good to go.
FOLLOW ALONG: Join Insider Tom Silverstein for a live chat during Packers vs Panthers Thursday night game
Offensively, the Packers will have receiver Matthew Golden (shoulder/foot) available after he was listed as questionable to play, but they will be down some starters.

Warren Buffett spent nearly 50 years drinking Pepsi. His son even nicknamed him "Pepsi Warren." Then a neighbor handed him samples of a new cherry-flavored Coca-Cola, and the legendary investor switched sides.
The soda switch made for a good story. The stock purchase that followed made history.
Buffett began buying Coca-Cola shares in 1988, and Berkshire Hathaway eventually built a 400 million-share position for about $1.3 billion. Today, that stake is worth roughly $37 billion at a share price of $93, while the annual dividend income has climbed to about $848 million.

Maryland men's basketball unofficially kicked off basketball season in Xfinity Center Sunday, taking on local foes West Virginia in its second of three preseason games.
The Terps started slowly, falling behind by as many as 19 points in the first half, before stringing together positive possessions after the break to complete the comeback with 10 minutes to go. From there, the teams went back and forth until an overtime period where the Terps kept the Mountaineers from making a field goal.
Now, a behind-closed-doors scrimmage is all that separates the Terps from their official season opener on Nov. 2 against Bucknell.
Here are three takeaways from Sunday's matinee.
Starting in his second consecutive preseason game, Boston University transfer Mike McNair Jr. took little time to make an impression on the home crowd.

The World Series matchup isn't set in stone just yet, but Tampa Bay took a major step towards being the one that will face Milwaukee in the Fall Classic. They took two out of three in Cleveland to return home with a 3-2 series lead heading into a big Game 6 tonight, where they'll start Freddy Peralta who has been dealing this postseason while the Guardians will scramble to piece their way through a bullpen game after having to get 21 outs from their relievers yesterday. Thanks to the postponed Game 4 eating up the travel day, even if they do win tonight they'll also be forced to play the potential do-or-die Game 7 on four straight days without a night off — it's not looking pretty for Cleveland, to say the least.
We've got a full slate for you ahead of this critical Game 6 later tonight, starting with Jake's recap of Game 5's action in the Roundup. Michael hands out a stellar grade to David Bednar to kick off our annual Report Card series, and Kevin recalls Sandy Alomar Sr. and his days with the Yankees on his birthday. Then in the afternoon Jonathan goes over the Yankees' longest home runs of the season and Estevao reflects on the gap between Giancarlo Stanton and 500 career home runs before I return to open up the mailbag for more of your questions.
American League Championship Series Game 6
(Rays lead series, 3-2)
