Semiconductor rivalries rarely move stock prices the way headlines suggest they should. MediaTek unveiled a new flagship smartphone processor on Tuesday, Sept. 15, built to challenge Qualcomm directly in the premium handset market.
Qualcomm Inc (QCOM)'s stock rose anyway, closing up 4.25% at $187.80.
That is not a new pattern. MediaTek's market value first surpassed Qualcomm's earlier this year, according to Reuters. The new chip was meant to widen that lead, not just defend it.
The gap is real money. MediaTek's market capitalization stood near $223 billion on Sept. 15, PitchBook noted. Even after Qualcomm's 4.25% rally that same day, its market cap reached $200.6 billion, according to CompaniesMarketCap, leaving it about $22 billion behind MediaTek.
MediaTek said the Dimensity 9600 Pro is its first mobile processor built on TSMC's 2-nanometer process. Its neural processing unit delivers 51% faster prompt handling for on-device AI models than the prior generation. That lets phones run generative AI tasks without sending data to the cloud.

Another season begins with the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants battling each other to start 1-0 in the NFC East race. Lately it's been the Cowboys getting the wins, especially when Dak Prescott is under center.
Things have a way of getting turned around when it comes to rivalries. Despite the Cowboys owning the matchups in the last 10 years, the Giants could be primed to make things more difficult. New York has made some significant changes this offseason that will challenge the Cowboys.
Here are three reasons to hate playing the Giants on Sunday night football to open the season.
Despite dominating the games between the two teams recently, the Cowboys need to be wary of a Giants team that's turned over their franchise to a Super Bowl winning coach. John Harbaugh arrives with a winning pedigree and a 4-1 record against the Cowboys, who have been feasting on poor coaches in New York since Tom Coughlin left.
The Giants' culture has changed with Harbaugh's arrival, and the first matchup with a new regime always brings surprises. Harbaugh's a veteran coach, but he hired Matt Nagy as his offensive coordinator, with whom he's never worked with as his OC, and Dennard Wilson is a first-time defensive coordinator. That can make for the Cowboys seeing some things they haven't seen from the Giants on both sides of the ball.

Missouri football news: Eli Drinkwitz scolds players mid-interview for stealing Kansas band's drum appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Eli Drinkwitz had just finished the biggest statement win of Missouri's young season, and he could not even get through a postgame interview before something else demanded his attention. The Tigers beat Kansas 38-21 on Friday night at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium, their first win in Lawrence since 2001 and their fifth straight in the renewed Border War, but the scene immediately after the final whistle turned chaotic.
Speaking with Fox's Josh Sims on the field, Drinkwitz was mid-answer praising his team's resilience when he spotted trouble behind him. "Our guys didn't flinch. It's a big time win and really proud of my…" he began, before cutting himself off entirely. "I got to go make sure we don't have anything stupid happen here," Drinkwitz said, abandoning the interview and heading toward the commotion.

As Solheim Cup rivalries were renewed for the 20th time, Carlota Ciganda once again stole the show after Europe's top pairing of Charley Hull and Lottie Woad failed to ignite against the United States at Bernardus Golf Club in the Netherlands
The 36-year-old Spaniard, who is the oldest player on show this weekend, let out a roar of pure emotion after holing a 15-foot putt to earn Europe what had seemed an unlikely half point in the final fourball match of the day to ensure honours are even at 4-4 heading into Saturday.
Ciganda's celebration evoked memories of the nerve-shredding finale at Finca Cortesin in 2023, when her putt allowed Europe to retain the trophy with a 14-14 tie.
And once again Nelly Korda was on the receiving end.
The world number one, and her playing partner Lauren Coughlin, both left match-winning putts short to allow Ciganda, who had crucially won the 16th hole with an eagle, to deliver a stunning reprieve for Anna Nordqvist's team.

In college football, there are rivalries that date back generations.
Including one that has its roots in the Civil War.
That would be the 'Border War' between Kansas and Missouri, that is renewed on Friday when the 1-0 Jayhawks host the 1-0 Tigers, who are ranked No. 23 in the latest edition of the AP Top-25. The 122nd installment of this rivalry game was expected to be intense, but Kansas turned up that heat throughout this entire week.
It began earlier in the week, when the team shared this image:
This is from a mural painted by John Steuart Curry **** led "Tragic Prelude," which is located in the rotunda of the Kansas State Capitol Building. It depicts abolitionist John Brown in the center, holding a Bible in one hand, and a rifle in the other. He is surrounded by both Union and Confederate soldiers, with him at the middle trying in vain to hold them back.

Cincinnati Bengals, Super Bowl favorites?
Maybe not, as the Bengals are one of the harder-to-predict teams in the NFL going into the regular season. They're also one of the more polarizing given the rivalries they've had in recent years with the likes of the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Bengals do, though, pop up in a recent mention of possible Super Bowl outcomes.
At the NFL's website, eight **** ysts picked the Los Angeles Rams to win the Super Bowl, with one of those votes actually picking the Rams to beat the Bengals in the rematch.
Three voters picked the Buffalo Bills to win it all, while two picked the Bengals to win the Super Bowl.

Twenty-six races are in the books. The points have been reset. And now the real fight begins.
NASCAR's 16-driver Chase field opens its 10-race championship run Sunday night with the Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway. But the regular season left behind more than race winners and a postseason field.
There were run-ins, rivalries, manufacturer battles and even a legal fight away from the track.
Before the green flag falls on NASCAR's first Chase since the championship format was overhauled, here are six of the biggest feuds, clashes and tension points that helped shape the 2026 regular season.
One of the season's wildest confrontations came at Martinsville.

Every sports team has one: their greatest rival. The inspiration behind such a rivalry can range from epic divisional battles to a single, historic play years ago to everything and anything else in between. Throughout my years as a Dolphins fan, I have watched our primary rival shift many times, yet I have consistently found myself hating the New York Jets above all others, because they clearly have it coming. Our biggest rivalry within our division tends to center around which ever other team is good at the time. Some rivalries with teams outside of our division have also cropped up over the years, usually following a string of epic games between the two teams.
So this evening's Phinsider Question Of The Day is:
Which team or teams do you consider our Miami Dolphins biggest or most hatest rival or rivalries and why?
Please share your thoughts and answers in the comments section below-

The Houston Texans are putting H-Town front and center with their new "HOUSTON/US" NFL Rivalries jersey, which goes on sale Tuesday, September 1.
Official 2026 NFL Rivalries jerseys & gear are available now for purchase.
Houston's new look is built around Liberty White, H-Town Blue and Battle Red, with details pulled directly from the city. The Texans also introduce their first Liberty White helmet, complete with a chrome H-Town Blue facemask inspired by Houston's custom car culture.
The "HOUSTON/US" theme extends inside the collar, where "Houston" appears in Battle Red with "Us" highlighted in H-Town Blue, emphasizing the connection between the franchise and its city. The new (soon-to-be) owner of the Seattle Seahawks just got a lesson in how passionate the 12th Man can be about certain topics... especially when it comes to rivalries and historic hatred. Recently, the NFL voted unanimously to approve the sale of the Seahawks from the Paul G. Allen estate to venture capitalize Vinod Khosla and his family for a record-breaking $9.6 billion.
During his initial press conference following the approval meeting, Khosla opened up about his history of being an NFL fan... and although he was honest, he definitely shared too much. Khosla explained he came to America in the 1970's when the Pittsburgh Steelers were the reigning force in the league and admitted he was still a fan of theirs. Not just a fan, but one who still watches all the Steelers games.
Oh boy... as expected, not many 12's were all that jazzed when they heard the new owner of the Seattle Seahawks is still a Steelers fan of all things. The painful memories of Super Bowl XL are still fresh to many older fans, and to them, the Steelers are just as bad as the Rams or 49ers.
But credit where credit is due, Khosla clearly heard the criticism and took to social media to emphasize where his loyalties lie. He even issued an apology.

The stakes are high as one of the great rivalries in baseball is renewed tonight in the Bronx. The Yankees (75-58) and the Red Sox (73-60) are each making the playoffs. Neither is out of the division race but the more obvious race is for the top Wild Card spot. The Yankees currently hold the top spot with the Sox sitting two games behind. Boston trails the Bronx Bombers by just two games for that top Wild Card spot. The fact that there is any intrigue in that race is remarkable considering that on July 1 the Red Sox were 10 games UNDER .500 and the Yankees were 11 games OVER .500.
The Red Sox arrive in the Big Apple after winning two of three in Miami. The Red Sox opened the series with a 4-2 victory before grinding out a dramatic 7-3 win in 11 innings in Game 2. The Marlins avoided a sweep with a 4-0 shutout of the Sox on Wednesday. New York takes the field tonight after losing two of three to Houston. The Yankees' bats were alive in splitting the first two games but went silent in a 5-1 loss last night.
Patrick Sandoval (1-2, 4.54 ERA) gets the ball for Boston tonight. After allowing seven runs to the Pirates back on August 16, the veteran rebounded last Saturday against the Giants allowing two runs over five innings. Overall, the Red Sox have won six of his eight starts. The Yankees counter with Cam Schlittler (11-6, 2.16 ERA). The Cy Young favorite has been dominant nearly every time he has taken the mound this season. In his most recent start, Schlittler allowed but one run over six innings against the Blue Jays. Despite his consistently elite numbers, Schlittler has seen the Yankees lose four of his last five starts as the Pinstripes rarely offer him much in the form of run support.
This four-game series is certain to have a playoff atmosphere surrounding it as each side looks to further cement a playoff spot and continue to try to chase down the Rays in the AL East.
Lets dive into tonight's matchup and find a sweat or two.

The 2026 US Open begins in earnest on Sunday, and it's hard to think of a time when this tournament felt so wide open among both men and women.
There is no Jannik Sinner. There might not be a fully healthy Carlos Alcaraz or Novak Djokovic. Aryna Sabalenka, the two-time defending champion, has been in a slump. Seven different women have won the past seven Grand Slams.
There's no telling how it will work out, with multiple layers of drama built into the draw. Let's get into all of that.
This is becoming a problem.
More than any sport, men's tennis has been defined by its rivalries. Borg-McEnroe, Sampras-Agassi, Federer-Nadal-Djokovic. ***** ans of the sport, regularly facing each other in the biggest spots. Sinner-Alcaraz is supposed to be the next chapter of that, and some of their clashes are already legendary.

Following global football is no longer confined to watching a match for ninety minutes on a weekend afternoon. The modern supporter operates within a continuous cycle of information consumption, tracking tactical breakdowns, injury updates, and transfer market movements throughout the entire week. The transition from physical matchday attendance to a borderless digital ecosystem has fundamentally altered how the sport is covered. This intense demand for constant, high-quality ****** ysis has transformed digital sports publishing, turning fan platforms into comprehensive databases of football knowledge. Rather than relying on simple fixture lists, audiences now evaluate passing networks, expected goals, and historical rivalries to gauge how upcoming matches might unfold. This structural shift in fan behaviour requires publishers to deliver nuanced reporting that goes far beyond basic scorelines, catering to a global readership that treats football ****** ysis with serious ****** ytical rigour.
The appetite for detailed pre-match information has created a natural crossover with online sports markets. Fans who spend hours reading about team formations, defensive vulnerabilities, and managerial strategies routinely apply those insights in practical scenarios. An in-depth understanding of how a Thursday night European fixture might cause squad fatigue ahead of a Sunday domestic clash is exactly the type of context that informs ****** ytical viewing. This precise evaluation of probabilities and match dynamics aligns seamlessly with the mechanics of modern sports wagering, where split-second decisions rely on preliminary research.
Supporters apply this football literacy directly to live sports markets through Virgin Bet ZA, navigating dynamic in-play scenarios with knowledge of player absences and tactical shifts. The integration of data into the spectator experience means that betting is increasingly driven by objective ****** ysis rather than sheer loyalty or guesswork. Bettors rely on injury reports, historical head-to-head statistics, and form guides to build a complete picture of an upcoming contest. Consequently, sports publishing serves a dual purpose, acting as an essential resource for both the traditional fan and the informed punter looking to test their reading of the game against real-time market fluctuations.
Behind the tactical debates and the sophisticated sports markets lies a commercial engine that continues to break historical records. The financial scale of elite football dictates squad depth, transfer market dominance, and ultimately, competitive success across major domestic and European competitions. Broadcast rights, global merchandising, and lucrative corporate sponsorships have elevated top-tier clubs into massive multinational enterprises. This week's Game of the Week will be for the Gurski-Linn Trophy, as the Wilson Bulldogs travel down the road to Shillington to face the Gov. Mifflin Mustangs.
Named after Berks County's legendary former coaches John Gurski, who coached at Wilson from 1964-82, and Ray Linn, who had two stints at Mifflin from 1956-73 and 1985-87, the trophy has plenty of history behind it.

High school football is back in the Gadsden area starting this week and the action is starting up Thursday, Aug. 27.
The AHSAA season officially got started last week, but a few Gadsden-area teams waited until this week to get going. Cherokee County and Sand Rock both get started with traditional rivalries with Piedmont and Spring Garden, respectively.
The season runs through October before the playoffs start in November. The AHSAA Football championships are December 1-5 in Mobile, one of many changes this season. The biggest shakeup was the public-private split and ensuing fallout that created two classes and got rid of 7A.

Nike and the NFL revealed the 2026 Rivalries uniforms for teams in the AFC South and NFC North, including a new design for the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars will wear the new uniform on Nov. 1 during a home game against divisional rival the Indianapolis Colts.
The Rivalries program launched in 2025 as a collaboration between Nike, the NFL and participating clubs to create uniform designs influenced by local team communities. The 2026 release expands the initiative into its second year with eight new team uniforms.
The Jaguars uniform combination features a white jersey, black pants and white socks with prominent teal, gold and black accents. A teal-glossed helmet displays a gold face mask and a "904" mark representing Jacksonville's area code. The outer collar features a "Since "95" inscription honoring the franchise's inaugural season and cursive script spelling out "Jaguars" references the team's Southern roots.
The black pants feature a teal stripe with gold trim over a subtle jaguar print pattern, with the names of Jacksonville neighborhoods hidden inside the spots on the pants. Following the game against Indianapolis, the Rivalries uniform will remain in the team's uniform rotation for three years alongside existing alternate uniforms.
Fanatics will begin selling coinciding fan merchandise in stores and online on Sept. 1, including jerseys, helmets, shirts, jackets, footwear and hats. The Miller Electric Center Pro Shop will operate with special hours on Sept. 1 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., while maintaining standard hours from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and opening 3 hours before kickoff on home game days.NFL executives highlighted the rollout of the new division designs across both conferences. Aug. 20—BRIDGEWATER, S.D. — After more than a decade competing with 11 players on the field, the Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan Seahawks are returning to familiar territory in 2026.
BEE is moving back to the nine-man ranks at the Class 9AA level, bringing with it a proud history in the smaller classification and a renewed sense of excitement surrounding the program.
The Seahawks made the jump from Class 9AA to Class 11B in 2015. The move proved to be a successful one, as Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan reached five consecutive state championship games and captured the 11B state ******* le in 2019. But after finishing 2-6 a season ago, the Seahawks are making another transition, back to where the program's success first started.
"We're just excited about the speed of the game, obviously, and you can score a few more points when you have two less players on the field," BEE head coach Jeff VanLeur said. "We are also excited to have those rivalries again in the Cornbelt Conference with those other close nine-man programs, because it is a great conference to compete in with a lot of great, local teams in it."
For longtime coach Jeff VanLeur, the move represents a return to the level where he has spent much of his career. VanLeur has coached 35 years at the nine-man level, all within the Seahawk program and its various cooperatives.

The UConn women's basketball team, winner of 12 national championships, will renew a slew of rivalries during the non-conference portion of their 2026-27 schedule.
