Bam Adebayo said he has no hard feelings toward LeBron James' surprising decision to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers this offseason. However, the Miami Heat star let James know he'll be coming for him the next time they meet on the NBA court.
Speaking at a community event in Miami on Tuesday, Adebayo revealed his text to James after the latter spurned the Heat for the Sixers, which feels like friendly banter for these two stars, given they've built a friendship in the past few years.
"There ain't no disappointment. To me, you should always be happy for a person and their decision. He made a decision where he feels like it's his best situation to win. And I feel like I'm a good friend of LeBron's," Adebayo told the Miami Herald.

Patents are legal rights that give the holder exclusive control over a specific invention. If you hold a patent on a method for processing transactions on a blockchain—the shared digital ledger where crypto activity is permanently recorded and can't be altered—you get to decide who else uses it and on what terms. IBM had been building that kind of leverage since its mid-2010s enterprise blockchain push.
By December 2025, patent ******* ytics firm PatSnap credited IBM with 790 U.S. blockchain patents—more than any other American company, with Bank of America a distant second at roughly 200. Circle, which received its first-ever patent in December 2023 (covering parallel blockchain data processing—a technique for verifying multiple groups of transactions simultaneously), went from essentially zero to the top of the U.S. rankings overnight.

Michael King came into the season as a co-ace with Nick Pivetta. He quickly became the sole ace when Pivetta went down with injury. King has not had a dominant season, but he has looked better over the last couple of outings. He is he lone pitcher in the San Diego rotation that is a threat to throw a complete game and time out.
Michael Lorenzen has had a down year, but that does not automatically mean the San Diego offense will have success against the Colorado right-hander. Lorenzen sits at 3-9 on the year and carries a 6.53 ERA. The Padres will have to jump on Lorenzen early and often to give King a chance to pitch with a lead.

OXFORD — Ole Miss basketball coach Chris Beard has hired an ******* istant with a wealth of European basketball experience to his staff.
Petar Aleksić was named an ******* istant coach for the Rebels on July 28.
"Petar has built a reputation as a winner everywhere he's coached," Beard said in a school release. "His experience developing players, leading championship programs and competing at the highest levels of European basketball brings tremendous value to our staff. He's a teacher, a proven leader and someone who shares our commitment to building a championship culture at Ole Miss."
Beard was an ******* istant coach under Aleksić for the 2015 Swiss National Team in EuroBasket. That team upset Russia in the second qualifying round of the tournament. Aleksić also spent time with the Rebels in 2024-25 when Ole Miss reached the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament.
Aleksić spent 10 seasons (2013-23) as the coach of Fribourg Olympic, a professional team, and has also served as coach of the Swiss men's national team from 2013-17. LIV Golf's team finale has reportedly been canceled.
The report by Flushing It comes a couple weeks after Cleeks captain Martin Kaymer told Today's Golfer that LIV's team championship, scheduled for Aug. 27-30 at The Cardinal at Saint John's in Plymouth, Michigan, was "highly unlikely" to take place.
Flushing It, which previously cited several contractors whose travel arrangements for the event had been canceled, said that an official announcement was expected from LIV on Wednesday.
LIV Michigan was supposed to offer a $40 million purse, down from $50 million last year, with $11.2 million going to the winning team. But PIF's funding, originally announced to run through this year, has begun to dry up earlier than anticipated, according to Front Office Sports, which quoted one LIV source as saying last month, "I don't think they'll ever get to Michigan."
The Detroit News reported last week that no infrastructure had been built at The Cardinal, another ominous sign for LIV Michigan, which would become the second LIV tournament to be scrapped this year.

The businesses tied to AI now make up about 60% of revenue and grew 40% year over year, and management says the CPU is reclaiming ground inside AI systems, with the ratio of processors to accelerators shifting from one-in-eight toward one-in-four.
Is This Just The AI Chip Trade Lifting Everything?
Only partly. AMD rode the same wave and roughly tripled, up about 222%, but Nvidia gained only about 19% and Qualcomm about 7% over the same stretch, a fraction of that. Now that the Denver Broncos are reporting for training camp, fans will likely get a more inside looks at the team's new training facility. While some introductory pictures were released by the team in mid-July, the first interior video of the facility has been shared on Instagram by Kayla Jones, wife of Broncos defensive lineman D.J. Jones.
The video captured several never-before-seen areas of the new building. Some of the new areas shown include an in-house barbershop (complete with an orange and blue striped barber chair), a mini indoor field, shaded table seating on the roof of the building, and a revamped locker room ready for the team.

The $175 million facility, and all its bells and whistles, is a visible sign of the past two seasons of work. The facility was first announced in November 2023 and broke ground in late August 2024. The state-of-the-art campus was funded completely by the Walton-Penner ownership group, and is 30 percent bigger than their old headquarters building, according to the team's website.
The building also is a reminder of the Walton-Penner ownership group's commitment to making the team one of the best in the NFL, both on and off the field. The next big investment in the club will be the team's new stadium, on track to be built at the team's preferred site at Denver's historic Burnham Yard. While finalized plans have not been announced quite yet, the team is committing significant time and energy into the beautification of the area, and community inclusivity. You can see all the updates on the team's stadium website. The biggest remaining hurdle will be the relocation of Denver Water, which is located at Burnham Yard.

The countdown until the 2026-27 college basketball season continues to roll on. As it stands now, we are just under 100 days until tipoff for the new campaign.
UNC is entering the first year of the Michael Malone era as he replaces Hubert Davis. Now, Malone has the task of turning this program around and getting it to where it needs to be. Malone and his staff have built the roster using returning players, the 2026 recruiting class, and a good transfer portal class.
UNC's backcourt should be strong, but there are some concerns regarding their height. The Tar Heels were able to add some frontcourt players, but it likely won't be a strength for them. CBS Sports **** yst Isaac Trotter wrote on the Tar Heels, and he has some concerns about their post depth:
I'm getting nervous about UNC's big man situation. 7-footer Sayon Keita is still not on campus as he wades through all the eligibility red tape. I'm in on Matt Able and freshman Maximo Adams, but UNC could have some hairy moments with this frontcourt. I think UNC is more of a top-30ish team than a top-15 unit nationally.
Trotter wrote that in the section of "teams he will be lower on than the consensus," and he mentions that he will have them as a top 30 team. Keita should be on campus soon as **** ysts have said they are not worried about his absence so far.

The expanded 12-team College Football Playoff has created more opportunities for teams to compete for a national championship.
Programs that previously had almost no chance of making the playoffs now have a realistic path. That became clear over the past two seasons, as Indiana, SMU, Boise State, Tulane and James Madison all reached the CFP for the first time. Their success showed that winning games, capturing a conference ***** le and building a strong resume can now be enough to earn a playoff spot.
Even with those first-time teams making the field, several well-known programs are still waiting for their CFP debut. Few came very close in 2025, while others have built talented rosters that could help them break through in 2026. Strong recruiting, experienced coaching staffs and favorable conference situations have put these teams in a good position.

The deal spans the full athletic department and all 36 varsity sports. The investment also provides new resources to support Ohio State athletes through NIL opportunities, enhances the Buckeyes' overall competitive success and facilitates academic partnerships across the university.
Ohio State becomes one of the biggest college football brands to date to add a jersey patch to its uniform. The JPMorgan Chase logo will sit above the Big Ten patch on the front of Ohio State's jerseys.

From Newcastle's perspective, the appeal is obvious. Scalvini is 22, has already played more than 100 senior games, and has international experience with Italy. That is a serious body of work for a defender of his age. He is not a raw project and he is not being signed purely on upside. He already looks like a player built for a high-level team.
He also fits the practical brief. Eddie Howe needs another central defender, particularly one capable of complementing Sven Botman over the long term. Scalvini's ability on the ball, his comfort stepping into midfield, and his aerial strength all line up with what Newcastle need. This is not about buying a name, it is about buying function.

There has long been an elephant in the Federal Open Market Committee's room as it tries to accomplish its mission of promoting maximum employment and stable prices. It's just much, much bigger now, and it's hard to ignore a $2 trillion elephant.
That's roughly how much the US government is issuing in new Treasury bills and bonds each year as the country's budget deficit swells. Its massive spending problem isn't new: The US has run a deficit for more than two decades, helped along by the 2008 financial crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic. But the economy is looking relatively healthy now, with inflation down from its decades-high record in 2022, shrinking to 3.5% in June. Weekly jobless claims just dropped to their lowest level since 1969. And yet the government is still issuing increasing amounts of debt. Economists say it's unsustainable.
Reducing the federal deficit may be Congress's job, but the central bank, led by Chair Kevin Warsh, has to contend with the economic effects of Treasury borrowing as it determines whether to hike, cut or hold interest rates steady. A committee that already is split on where interest rates should head will gather this week to decide what's next as a growing chorus of experts point to the problem the federal deficit poses.

The House of Representatives narrowly passed a record $1.15 trillion annual defense budget last week. It still needs Senate approval, but Washington's appetite for military spending is clear, and the US isn't alone. The EU, **** an and Middle Eastern nations have all been ramping up defense budgets, too, creating real sector opportunities for portfolios. Capturing them, however, takes more than pure defense-category investing: It requires knowing where the money actually flows.
"The defense ecosystem is actually much larger than most investors think," said Chris Grisanti, chief market strategist at MAI Capital Management. "It can include industrial companies like autos — GM has a big defense business — and of course technology and communications companies."

The financial landscape of football continues to evolve, with transfer fees, wages, and agent commissions reaching unprecedented levels. Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl recently shared his thoughts on the growing costs of the modern game and the increasingly influential role agents play in shaping the transfer market.
"The sums of money involved today are, of course, sometimes very high, and one could certainly say that the role of agents has perhaps become too large. I've already been part of commissions that tried to give the whole business a certain form, a framework, but in a free market economy, that's not so easy to implement. It's a very complex topic, we all know that," Eberl told Sport1's Stefan ****** berger (as captured by iMiaSanMia). "You have to weigh things up carefully and then say "no" when the demands are disproportionate. Of course, there are also many good agents you can work with, but also some who are somewhat more radical and ruthless. But as I said: as a club, you can always decide for yourself whether you want to do things or not."
Eberl's comments reflect one of the biggest challenges facing elite clubs today. Building a top squad is no longer just about identifying talented players. Clubs must also navigate complicated negotiations involving salaries, signing bonuses, agent commissions, and a growing list of financial considerations that can dramatically alter the cost of a transfer.
What stands out most is Eberl's emphasis on discipline. Rather than criticizing agents as a whole, he acknowledged that many are valuable partners while recognizing that others push negotiations to extremes. His point is that clubs ultimately retain the power to walk away if a deal no longer makes financial or sporting sense.
That philosophy has become increasingly important as the market continues to inflate. Bayern Munich has built its reputation on competing with Europe's biggest spenders while remaining financially responsible, and Eberl's comments suggest that approach is not changing. The club is willing to invest when it sees value, but it also recognizes that not every transfer is worth completing at any cost.
