The Las Vegas Raiders did much to improve their roster this offseason. While the Raiders are still a developing team, they addressed areas of need well in preparation for next season.
Sports Illustrated's Eva Geitheim labeled the Raiders as the most improved team of the offseason due to the range of improvements that the team made dating back to last winter.
"The Raiders entered the offseason with more cap ***** e than any other team, and proceeded to use that money wisely by retooling their roster with the additions of Tyler Linderbaum, Quay Walker, Nakobe Dean, Kwity Paye and Jalen Nailor in free agency. Not only did the Raiders turn to the open market to bolster the roster, they changed the coaching staff—highlighted by the addition of Klint Kubiak, fresh off a Super Bowl win as the Seahawks' offensive coordinator—and used the No. 1 pick on Heisman Trophy–winning quarterback Fernando Mendoza."
Other teams around the league, including the Tennessee ***** ans, Cincinnati Bengals and Minnesota Vikings improved their rosters greatly this offseason as well. To the credit of the Raiders though, they made a multitude of moves that gave them the veteran and youthful talent that they need on the offensive line, at quarterback, running back and on defense for next season.

The Seattle Seahawks may have Wednesday off from training camp practice, but they're busy looking at possible roster additions.
Former Dallas Cowboys safety Donovan Wilson is slated for a workout with Seattle, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. It could be yet another former Cowboys defensive player reuniting with current Seahawks defensive coordinator Aden Durde.
Wilson was drafted by the Cowboys in 2019 and started in five of his seven seasons with the team. He recorded 13 sacks, nine forced fumbles, and eight interceptions in his career, including (barring an un-retirement) the final interception of Russell Wilson's career.
When Dan Quinn was the defensive coordinator, Wilson as among the three safeties in Quinn's "big nickel" package, and his best season came in 2022 when he had a career-high five sacks and seven tackles for loss, earning him a three-year contract extension.
The Seahawks are currently without Nick Emmanwori, whose recent ankle surgery landed him on the PUP list. His status for Week 1 is unclear but it's not expected to be a long-term absence. In the meantime, the 30-year-old Wilson would be a possible veteran presence with a legitimate shot to make the roster. We'll see if the workout turns into an eventual signing.

It's that time of the year again when the gaming community and NFL players at large react to the ratings in a video game. Madden NFL 27 will be available for purchase on Aug. 13 (early access available Aug. 6 and Aug. 10) and EA Sports revealed the top 10 quarterbacks in this year's game on July 29.
Only two quarterbacks hit the headline 99 ratings in 2026: Matthew Stafford, the league's reigning Most Valuable Player, and Buffalo Bills signal-caller Josh Allen, who won the MVP award in 2025. Four others, Los Angeles Rams defensive end Myles Garrett, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase, Seattle Seahawks wide receiverJaxon Smith-Njigba and Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride, were also rated 99 overall.
In this case, someone has to have the worst rating amongst the most important position in football, and that belongs to Baltimore Ravens backup Joe ******* nano, who has a 59 overall rating among the top-10 quarterbacks and rookie signal callers listed.

The NFLPA's P.R. push for grass fields should focus less on making a broad-brush effort to shame the owners into choosing a better surface and more on getting specific teams to flip. That effort, as previously explained, should start with the Seahawks, who are in the process of getting a new owner.
On Tuesday, a pair of Seattle veterans made the case for grass during training-camp press conferences.
Defensive lineman Leonard Williams was asked whether seeing temporary grass at Lumen Field for the World Cup made him wish the grass would remain permanently.
"For sure," Williams told reporters, "I think the whole NFL felt that way. We obviously prefer to be on grass. It's less impact, better on the body. I understand there's a lot of things that go into having grass in the stadium that I don't fully understand yet, but if it was up to a player and it just came down to grass or turf, we obviously prefer grass."
Receiver Cooper Kupp was initially more concise. "That would be sweet," he said with a laugh.

Seattle Seahawks star defensive tackle Leonard Williams is entering the final year of his current contract, but the two-time Pro Bowler isn't letting ongoing extension talks distract him from preparing for the 2026 season.
Williams confirmed Tuesday that his representatives and the Seahawks have had preliminary discussions about a new deal, though nothing has been finalized.
"There's been a few conversations, but nothing set in stone," Williams said.
The 32-year-old veteran is in the final season of the three-year, $64.5 million contract he signed in March 2024, just months after Seattle acquired him from the New York Giants during the 2023 season. Under the Seahawks' long-standing policy, players are not eligible for contract extensions until they have one year remaining on their current deal, making Williams eligible for negotiations this offseason.

The Seattle Seahawks don't have a starting quarterback debate right now. What a relief to finally say that after enduring "Geno Smith vs. Drew Lock and "Can Sam Howell be the guy?" in those first three post-Russell Wilson seasons. This is Sam Darnold's team until further notice.
But this week's Seahawks Reacts survey question and poll is all about second-year quarterback Jalen Milroe, whose rookie season intrigue fizzled out by Week 5 after an ill-fated option play led to a turnover. The former Alabama star was restricted to third-team offense throughout training camp and preseason, slotting in as the third-string quarterback behind Darnold and Drew Lock.
Sam Darnold's continued success lessens the quarterback worries for now, but it's still fair to wonder how Milroe's development will come along. Is he somehow going to make enough strides to be QB2 over veteran Drew Lock and his expiring contract? Or will he once again be QB3 and subject to some healthy scratches? There were several reasons the Los Angeles Rams lost the NFC Championship Game last season, but none of those issues fell on the offense. It was multiple defensive and special teams failures that led to the loss.
In the contest, returner Xavier Smith, who established himself in that role in 2024 and 2025, ***** ed two punts in that contest, losing one of them. The lost fumble immediately led to a touchdown for the Seattle Seahawks, which would become one of several hurdles the Rams could not overcome.
During an interview with Kay Adams, running back Kyren Williams stated that he's been putting in more work as a returner during team activities – something Bubba Ventrone alluded to in camp.
"I've been catching a lot of punts in practice," said Williams. "I've been catching punts in OTAs, and so that's something that you know I kind of, that's who I am. I can do everything on the field. I can catch the ball. I can run the ball. I can block, and I can return punts.
"That's a standard I hold myself to. I want to be able to do anything that anybody asks for me to do. So if that's catch punch, shoot, I'm gonna go back there and catch some punch, make some plays happen, just to show you that my versatility is really real."

The Seattle Seahawks have waived running back Kenny McIntosh, a former Georgia Bulldog. McIntosh won Super Bowl 60 with the Seahawks last season, but it was bittersweet because McIntosh tore his ACL prior to the 2025 NFL season, so he watched Seattle's triumphant season from the sidelines.
McIntosh was placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list on July 20. Seattle elected to waive McIntosh, which means he is likely not healthy yet. McIntosh was expected to make $1.1 million in 2026 and was entering a contract year. He will now hope to find a new niche in the NFL.
McIntosh was a seventh-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft. He's appeared in 20 career NFL games including all 17 in 2024. McIntosh has 31 carries for 172 yards in his NFL career. He won national ***** les at Georgia in 2021 and 2022. McIntosh notably had 126 total yards and a touchdown in Georgia's comeback win over Ohio State in the College Football Playoff semifinals.
Seattle is also placing running back Zach Charbonnet on the PUP list. Charbonnet tore his ACL during Seattle's playoff run and is seeking to return in Week 1.
The Seahawks drafted Jadarian Price in the first-round of the 2026 NFL draft to help fill the void with Charbonnet possibly out and Kenneth Walker leaving via free agency. Seattle also has backup running backs George Holani and Emanuel Wilson.

The Seattle Seahawks have a lot going for them as the 2026 NFL season creeps closer.
Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox labeled the Seahawks' defensive line as the team's biggest strength prior to the start of this year's preseason.
"The Seahawks were regularly able to pressure opposing quarterbacks despite blitzing just 19.3 percent of the time, the seventh-lowest rate in the NFL," Knox said. "Seattle's defensive line will enter 2026 largely unchanged. While edge-defender Boye Mafe was replaced by Dante Fowler Jr., key standouts Leonard Williams, Byron Murphy II, Jarran Reed, and DeMarcus Lawrence are all back for another run."
The Seahawks also have a strong wide receiver room consisting of AP Offensive Player of the Year Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Rashid Shaheed and Cooper Kupp, as well as a top-tier secondary including second-team All-Pro cornerback Devon Witherspoon, Nick Emmanwori, and Josh Jobe. Nevertheless, the defensive line brings frightening pressure to opposing quarterbacks and has nearly all of its players from last year returning for another run in 2026.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Christian Gonzalez may have an offer from the New England Patriots that would make him the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL. But something is keeping him from accepting it for now.
What that is exactly New England's star defender would rather keep private, even after owner Robert Kraft's public proclamations that the deal the team has put on the table is larger than any offered in Patriots history.
"Everybody knows what Mr. Kraft has done ... I respect what Mr. Kraft has brought to the franchise," Gonzalez said Tuesday. "It's something we don't want to handle to the media and keep that with the team and my (agents) and go on about that."
The ******* umption is that Gonzalez and his representatives are likely holding off an accepting an offer from the Patriots until Seattle Seahawks star cornerback Devon Witherspoon inks his anticipated contract extension first.
Witherspoon, a three-time Pro Bowler who was drafted fifth in 2023 ahead of Gonzalez at No. 17, is reportedly getting close to a deal with the defending Super Bowl championships.

WESTFIELD — Colts general manager Chris Ballard tried to characterize the team's offseason interest in former Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold as part of an effort to leave no stone unturned.
Arnold's agent, Nicole Lynn, told a Florida court that the Colts were one of four teams who'd expressed interest in Arnold, who is awaiting trial on felony kidnapping and robbery charges after a June arrest.
Houston worked out Arnold in July, and Lynn also said the Seahawks and Jets were interested.
"We look at every player that hits the market," Ballard said. "Every player."
Ballard defended the team's interest by saying that Arnold's guilt hasn't been determined yet.

With all the changes made to benefit the passing game over the years, it's truly astonishing that Van Brocklin's mark of 554 yards has stood for this long. That said, which quarterback is most likely to break it this season?
Having a 500-yard passing game is a crowning achievement for single callers. Including the playoffs, there have only been 27 such games in NFL history, with Ben Roethlisberger, Tom Brady and Drew Brees the only QBs to have thrown for over 500 yards multiple times. Kirk Cousins is the most recent to have done so, throwing for 509 yards in a 2024 win over the Buccaneers.
Without further ado, let's take a look at the top candidates to topple Van Brocklin's record in 2026.
Let's start with the option closest to home. Stafford once threw for 520 yards as a member of the Lions in the 2011 regular season finale against the Packers at Lambeau Field. Unfortunately, it came in a losing effort, as the quarterback on the opposite sideline, Matt Flynn, threw for 480 yards and six touchdowns in a 45-41 Green Bay win.
Stafford seems like an easy choice given that he's already a member of the 500 Club and has one of the league's most explosive offenses at his disposal. However, he's thrown for at least 450 yards with the Rams once, which came against the Seahawks late last season.

When the New York Jets acquired Geno Smith this offseason, the conversation immediately shifted to the quarterback. Would they get the version who revitalized his career in Seattle Seahawks? Or would they inherit the one who struggled with turnovers during his lone season with the Las Vegas Raiders?
Those are fair questions. They just may not be the most important ones. As training camp opens, the Jets' ceiling on offense could depend less on which version of Smith takes the field and more on how offensive coordinator Frank Reich builds the offensive attack around him.
Quarterbacks often receive the credit when an offense succeeds and the blame when it doesn't. While that's part of playing the position, football has repeatedly shown that coaching, scheme and supporting talent can dramatically influence a quarterback's production.
So, here's where Reich enters the picture. The veteran coach inherits an offense featuring an experienced quarterback, a dynamic running back in Breece Hall, an emerging No. 1 receiver in Garrett Wilson and a pair of intriguing young tight ends in Kenyon Sadiq and Mason Taylor. The offensive line also appears more stable than it has in recent years, giving Reich more flexibility than many first-year coordinators enjoy.
The challenge isn't **** embling talent. It's finding the best way to maximize it.

After they were knocked out in the wild-card round of the postseason, the San Francisco 49ers have added some real difference-makers on both sides of the ball over the last few months.
While their roster is better than it was at the end of the year, they could still bring in talented players who could help take them to the next level. On Monday, a new name hit the market, as Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive lineman Vita Vea requested a trade.
Every team in the league could benefit from adding a player like Vea, but former NFL linebacker Emmanuel Acho believes that Vea landing in San Francisco would make them legitimate Super Bowl contenders.
"If the Niners get Vita Vea. It's time to usher them back into the conversations. We've ushered the Rams into the Seahawks, as reigning champs, into the Philadelphia Eagles, they always stay in those conversations," Acho said on his "Speakeasy" podcast. "Because you got to think about what the Niners are building this offseason. I would suggest the Niners have had quietly, maybe the best offseason in all of football. You bring Dre Greenlaw back. I love the Niners linebacking core greater than any other linebacking core now. Fred Warner, Dre Greenlaw. You go get Oso Odighizuwa. I believe that he is perfectly situated now to start at defensive tackle. Alfred Collins continuing to ascend. You forgot about Mykel Williams, first-round pick from last year because of the injury. Nick Bosa looks as good as ever.
"Now, if you can get Vita Vea, now think about the depth. Now, you're rotating three defensive tackles... I think if you bring in Vita Vea, now, that run defense, which was so porous last year, instantly becomes a strong suit. I think the secondary has questions. Outside of D-Mo (Deommodore Lenoir), everybody's got questions about that secondary. Is it Ji'Ayir Brown? Is it (Malik) Mustapha? But if you get somebody as stout as Vita Veya up front, playing next to Alfred Collins with Oso Odighizuwa rotating in, plus Nick Bosa on the outside, plus you got Mykel Williams on the outside, plus you got Romello Height. I just think that is an incredible formidable front in that front seven."

All or nothing. Nothing else matters. Super Bowl or bust. Bold statements like these are as expected from pro athletes as they are cliché. It's a mindset NFL fans demand to hear from their favorite players and it's a mindset that some fans even take on themselves. Some fans might say it out loud so many times they actually believe it.
When Dak Prescott recently said the Dallas Cowboys had Super Bowl expectations, no one batted an eye. Throughout his career, Prescott has led some of the best offenses in the NFL. 2026 is shaping up to be more of the same with Prescott operating at the top of his game and his **** nal of weapons having never looked better.
Yet the Cowboys defense provides some unavoidable cause for concern. They are coming off a season where they were at or near the bottom of the NFL in almost all major categories and they enter 2026 with more than a few major questions left to answer. But coming off a 7-9-1 campaign and having missed the postseason for two consecutive years, how realistic are Super Bowl expectations in 2026?
"It's always been my mindset," Prescott said of his Super Bowl expectations. "It's the one thing I truly love about the Cowboys organization and the fanbase. It's all or nothing."
It's possible Prescott actually believes this but it's far more likely he's saying what he feels he's supposed to say. It's hard to believe anyone outside of maybe the Los Angeles Rams or Seattle Seahawks actually believes this "all or nothing" mantra this season. The investments those two teams made are significant, and based on recent play, the extreme expectations for them are realistic. The Cowboys have neither of those factors working in their favor.

Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider believes in rotating pass rushers. So does head coach Mike Macdonald. That's precisely why you knew the Seahawks would have a response to losing Boye Mafe in free agency.
The Seahawks did not draft a pass rusher. Instead, they signed veteran Dante Fowler Jr. to a one-year contract worth just $2.5 million, with additional incentives. Fowler was a late-wave signing for the Seahawks, agreeing to terms with the franchise weeks after the draft on May 11th.
It turns out the Seahawks had been after Fowler for quite some time. The veteran pass rusher recently revealed that Seahawks defensive coordinator Aden Durde attempted to sign Fowler last offseason. That makes sense, considering they worked together in both Atlanta and Dallas.
Fowler decided to re-sign with the Cowboys last offseason. This summer, Durde and Fowler's former teammate DeMarcus Lawrence put on the heavy push to sign him again. This time, Fowler was convinced to join the Seahawks.
Fowler registered just three sacks for the Cowboys in 2025, but had 10.5 sacks for the Washington Commanders in 2024. The 12th-year defensive end will play a rotational role for the Seahawks. Coach Durde believes Fowler has some pass-rushing juice left in the tank.

The team voted after winning Super Bowl 60 in February to make sure Bell got a Super Bowl ring. That was even though he played in the playoffs for another NFC team to end last season.
That's how Bell, a Carolina Panther to end last season, a former Division-II player at West Florida and two junior colleges who was out of football for all of 2017 working for his dad's construction company plus volunteering at his church back in Georgia, now has a Seahawks Super Bowl ring.
"They reached out to my agent and said I'll be getting a ring," Bell said this week.

The San Francisco 49ers, like most teams across the NFL, have started their training camp sessions ahead of the 2026 season, and while their players have decided to continue playing, others around the league are calling it a career.
Among those who have decided to retire is former 49ers linebacker Nick Bellore, who landed on the Washington Commanders' reserve/retired list on Monday.
Bellore played at Central Michigan from 2007-10, earning All-MAC honors twice. He went undrafted in 2011 before spending four years with the New York Jets. After that, he spent two seasons with the 49ers, appearing in 30 games and recording 100 tackles, five passes defensed, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble, one sack and one interceptions.
Since then, Bellore has had stints with the Detroit Lions, Seattle Seahawks (where he made two Pro Bowls) and Commanders.

The Seattle Seahawks are reportedly moving on from another member of their rapidly changing running back room.
Seattle plans to waive running back Kenny McIntosh, ESPN's Brady Henderson reported on July 27. McIntosh opened training camp on the physically unable to perform list while recovering from the torn ACL that cost him the entire 2025 season.
The move has not yet appeared among the Seahawks' official roster transactions as of Henderson's report.
McIntosh's departure comes at a significant point in Seattle's backfield competition. Zach Charbonnet is also on the PUP list, leaving first-round rookie Jadarian Price, free-agent addition Emanuel Wilson and George Holani to handle the available practice work. The battle for their starting running back job is one of the central training-camp storylines.
McIntosh, a seventh-round selection in the 2023 NFL draft, finishes his Seattle tenure with 31 regular-season carries for 172 yards. All of that production came in 2024, when he averaged 5.5 yards per attempt while playing primarily behind Kenneth Walker III and Charbonnet.

The Seattle Seahawks are set to move on from one of their running backs.
ESPN's Brady Henderson reported on Monday that the Seahawks are planning to waive fourth-year back Kenny McIntosh, who is currently on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list after suffering a torn ACL last training camp.
The Seahawks confirmed Henderson's report shortly thereafter. McIntosh was not immediately replaced, so the Seahawks will enter Tuesday with an open roster spot.
It's an unfortunate situation for the national champion from Georgia, who injured his knee during 2023 training camp and barely played as a rookie. In 2024, McIntosh played in every game but predominantly on special teams. When he did get involved in the offense, rushed for 172 yards on 31 carries and caught three passes for 22 yards in limited playing time. He also was part of Seattle's kick return rotation.
With the Seahawks drafting Jadarian Price in the first round and signing Emanuel Wilson in free agency, it was always going to be difficult for McIntosh to make the roster this season. George Holani, who lost out to McIntosh for a roster spot in 2024, was able to secure a spot after McIntosh's injury and has the inside track to have an increased role in the offense. Factor in the eventual return of Zach Charbonnet from his own ACL tear, and there just wasn't much of a realistic path for McIntosh to make the 53-man roster.

The Seahawks drafted Jadarian Price in the first round and signed Emanuel Wilson in free agency. Eventually, Zach Charbonnet will return from his torn ACL.

Kansas City Chiefs running back Kenneth Walker III was ranked No. 9 overall in Sports Illustrated's rankings of the top 10 running backs for the 2026 season.
"Walker earned PFF's highest rushing grade in 2025 at 91.4, and also hauled in 31 receptions for 202 receiving yards—a positive for coach Andy Reid, who's known for using his running backs in the passing game," Sports Illustrated's Mike Kadlick said of Kansas City's new bell cow.
Walker rushed for more than 1,000 yards in 2025 and was an impactful player for the Seattle Seahawks in the lead-up to their victory in Super Bowl LX earlier this year. The former Michigan State Spartan has the potential to put up even more impressive numbers in Kansas City next season, which may add to his status as a top 10 running back in the league and put him in a position to enter the highest tier of elite players at his position.
