In May, longtime MMA promoter Scott ***** er announced his impending return to the sport. On Monday, it was revealed that his new venture will be known as Ki MMA.
Coker, alongside business partner Peter Levin and Ki MMA matchmaker Rich Chou, shared details of his new promotion at a press conference in New York. Ki MMA is expected to officially launch in the first quarter of 2027 and will hold fights in a ring rather than a cage.
To explain the origin of the new promotion's name, ***** er said:
"The name, to me, had to have a martial arts meaning to it. When I thought about Ki, 'Kiai' is the very first thing that you learn in martial arts — your inner yell. 'Ki' meaning 'inner,' 'Ai' meaning 'yell.' So, it had to be something 'martial arts energy.' The spirit of all life force revolves around Ki. That was the genesis of the name.
"We put it to the test and worked on it, and came out with some great imagery. I'm really happy with the name."

The Cleveland Browns have had plenty of time this offseason to reflect on what they need to do in 2026. With a new coaching staff and an overhauled roster, Week 1 will speak volumes about what they'll be like.
ESPN also did one last bit of reflection when they tasked the beat writers for their respective teams with answering a few final questions about their teams. However, one question was directed at ESPN's Seth Walder. He was asked what a bold prediction about the Browns is.
His answer centered on the quarterback position.
He answered, "Quarterback Taylen Green will start at least four games. Perhaps there's no fourth-string player with an easier path to playing time than Green, a sixth-round pick out of Arkansas. I'm bearish on Watson, Sanders and Gabriel, so by the time the end of the season rolls around, I suspect the Browns will want to see if they have anything in Green."
Taylen Green may already be getting some work in packages. He just brings something to the position with his speed and mobility that no one else on the depth chart does. When an offense needs a spark, Green ca provide that and he showed it during the preseason.

A versatile and highley rated performer, on paper it seemed to some as if Calvin Palmer's big money move in February 1968 was exactly what Sunderland's struggling squad needed, and yet when he departed two years the later his release felt inevitable – and the man that had brought him was certainly happy to see him go.
Bought by the recently reinstalled Alan Brown, Palmer's issues rarely came down to ability. Although fans felt they never got to see the same all action displays he produced at previous club Stoke City they still recognised his versatility and commitment to winning, particularly during one early appearance when against Stoke he took over from the injured Jimmy Montgomery in goal. It was an example of the type of self-sacrifice Brown would usually appreciate and yet the pair were unable to ever strike up a working relationship, a clash of personalities meaning that the notoriously formidable manager and his unconventional recruit often ***** ed heads.
Palmer would invariably take his football seriously but as a character struggled to acquiesce to Brown's rigid structure and expectations. A squad trip to a cinema the month after signing, during which Palmer decided to leave early, led to Brown disciplining him for a breach of club rules for instance, and once the tone was set a number of other battles followed. By January 1970 Palmer was on the transfer list at his own request, and there was clearly no way back for him.
A court case and subsequent driving ban that month served to emphasise the differences between the player and manager; Palmer had found himself on the wrong side of the law whilst Brown had previously served as a police officer and maintained a strict zero tolerance attitude towards any sort of infringements thereafter. In more modern times it might be sensed that Palmer's nature simply warranted a different approach, but the 'Bomber's' management style never relied on subtlety and in the May he confirmed his decision to cut his losses on the £70,000 fee that had been paid and gave his player a free transfer.
It was presumed that this would be the end of the matter, but Palmer, often accused of being 'outspoken' in those more deferential times, did still intend of having the final word. In August he joined Cape Town City and the following month there was to be a rude awakening for Brown when on this day a national Sunday paper launched a 'warts and all' series detailing from South Africa the views and stories of the now ex Rokerman. Whereas Palmer's seemingly divergent traits would be better understood now it was easy then to tag him as a controversial figure, but even still the new column was quite the exposé, with the account being labelled as an 'explosive' chat with 'football's stormiest rebel'.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have had plenty of heroes over their past two runs to World Series championships, yet the most unlikely has to be right-hander Will Klein.
During Game 3 of the 2025 Fall Classic, Klein came in and delivered four scoreless innings, allowing Los Angeles to walk it off in the bottom of the 18th inning.
That earned Klein a spot on the active roster heading into the 2026 season, and in the first half he was one of the best arms in the bullpen.
However, after the All-Star break Klein struggled mightily, allowing nine runs across 4 1/3 innings of work and raising his season ERA to 3.67. Shortly after, Los Angeles placed him on the 15-day injured list on August 1 due to right elbow discomfort and loose bodies.

HOUSTON (AP) — Colson Montgomery had two hits and two RBIs and Randal Grichuk added a two-run double to lead the Chicago White Sox to a 5-1 win over the Houston Astros on Tuesday night.
Sean Burke (8-6) allowed one hit and walked four with six strikeouts in 5 2/3 scoreless innings for the win after walking a career-high eight in just three innings in his last start.
Houston's loss, combined with Texas' 8-5 win over the Athletics, cut the Astros' lead over the Rangers in the AL West to one game.
The White Sox had runners on first and second with two outs in the fifth when Andrew Benintendi's RBI single to right field made it 1-0. Montgomery followed with a double to score two more and push the lead to 3-0.
Chicago got another big hit with two on and two out in the seventh when Grichuk's double made it 5-0. The White Sox had a chance to add to the lead after that, but Cam Smith robbed Tristan Peters of a homer with a leaping catch in right field to end the inning.

ODESSA, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) - The Odessa Bronchos start the season 1-0 after defeating Mexico City Prep 51-14.
The Bronchos led 37-0 at halftime and stayed on the gas in the second half, adding two more scores. Odessa ran a total of 55 offensive plays for 452 yards, holding the ball for 50 minutes of possession.

Josh Hart is entering the final guaranteed year of his four-year, $80 million contract with the New York Knicks (with a $22.3 million team option next offseason), so he'll enter the 2026-27 season motivated to play well for the defending champions.

NEW DELHI: Sri Lanka spinner Prabath Jayasuriya has become the third player to be officially sanctioned during the ongoing second Test against India in Colombo, adding another disciplinary flashpoint to a match that had already been marred by the ugly confrontation between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Asitha Fernando.

Jayasuriya was on Tuesday handed an official reprimand and one demerit point for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the second day's play of the Colombo Test.

The left-arm spinner was found to have breached Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to the "abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match".

It was Jayasuriya's first offence in a 24-month period, the ICC said.

"Sri Lanka spinner Prabath Jayasuriya has become the third player to be sanctioned for an incident during the second ICC World Test Championship contest against India after he was hit with an official reprimand following his dismissal in his side's first innings," the ICC said in a statement.
The incident involving Jayasuriya occurred with the final delivery of the second day's play on Monday.

The Sri Lanka spinner was adjudged leg-before wicket off India spinner Manav Suthar. As he walked back towards the dressing room following his dismissal, Jayasuriya struck the boundary wedges with his bat.

The action led to the charge under Article 2.2, with Jayasuriya subsequently admitting the offence and accepting the sanction proposed by Andy Pycroft of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees.

As Jayasuriya accepted the sanction, there was no need for a formal hearing. The charge was levelled by on-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid, third umpire Rod Tucker and fourth umpire Prageeth Rambukwella.

The one demerit point has now been added to Jayasuriya's disciplinary record.
Jayasuriya's sanction comes after Jaiswal and Fernando were both punished following their heated exchange on the opening day of the Colombo Test.

The incident took place in the 17th over of India's first innings after Fernando dismissed Jaiswal. The India opener walked towards the Sri Lanka pacer and the two exchanged words before Fernando moved his head towards Jaiswal.

Jaiswal then leaned in, resulting in their heads making contact.

Both players were subsequently fined 25 per cent of their match fees and handed one demerit point each for the altercation.

With Jayasuriya now joining Jaiswal and Fernando on the ICC's disciplinary list, three players have been sanctioned during the same Test.

Juventus beat Frosinone 1-0 in their first league game of the season, but the performance was not good enough. Against a smaller team like Frosinone, the Bianconeri simply have to play better, especially considering the quality within their squad and the expectations surrounding them this term.
The men at the Allianz Stadium have proven to be one of the strongest teams in the country, and much is expected of them this season. However, their performance in that match suggested they should not be expected to improve significantly on what they achieved last term.
Juventus have top players all over the pitch and a very good manager, making their inability to consistently meet expectations disappointing for their supporters. The team continues to let its fans down, which is something Luciano Spalletti is not happy about as they look to improve their performances.
One of their most important players now is Francisco Conceicao, who did his best during the match. Although Juventus eventually secured the victory, the attacker acknowledged that the team still needs to perform better and become more effective as a unit.
Juventus had enough control to create opportunities, but they were unable to turn their superiority into a more comfortable result. Their failure to score more goals allowed Frosinone to remain within touching distance, particularly as the match entered its closing stages.

The New York Giants hosted the Minnesota Vikings in their first preseason game of 2026 on Saturday.
The Giants didn't come away with a win, losing 13-10, but head coach John Harbaugh got a good look at some of the players he's been evaluating over the summer in a real-game situation. There were solid plays and areas of opportunity, but it's just the first preseason game, so no one expected perfection.
One of the brighter spots during the game was seeing how rookie linebacker Arvell Reese performed in his first NFL game setting. Reese was on the field for 12 defensive snaps and four special teams snaps in the preseason game, and watching his highlights should have Giants fans paying attention.

"Let's just put the periscope on Arvell Reese here," Baldinger says. "He played 12 snaps in his debut against the Vikings, and what are the Giants going to do? Cunningham, Dunlap's Nolan Eccles and U-High's Jack Quinn shot 5-under 67's at the first big boys golf meet of the season in the Peoria area. Eccles, the defending class 2A state champion, led the Eagles to the team ******* le.
Dunlap's 284 was six shots better than runner-up U-High, the defending 2A state team champion. Notre Dame's Jack Coulter was the fourth player to post a score under 70 as he carded a 69 and finished fourth.

The New York Jets appear to have avoided the worst-case scenario after running back Breece Hall was forced to leave practice early Monday. Hall was able to walk off the field slowly after going down with a non-contact injury during a catch and run.
While non-contact injuries are always concerning, it sounds like Hall avoided a season-ending issue. The running back is dealing with a strained groin, one that Jets head coach Aaron Glenn does not consider a "big deal."
Despite that, the team will still send Hall for further evaluation. It likely wants to take every precaution possible after handing Hall a three-year, $45.75 million deal in May.
Hall, 25, is once again expected to be a focal point of the Jets' offense next season. After being selected by the team in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Hall got off to a tremendous start, rushing for 463 yards in seven games before a torn ACL and meniscus cut his rookie season short.
Hall returned to action the following year, rushing for 994 yards in 17 games. After a modest 846-yard performance in 2024, Hall turned in his best season yet in 2025. Appearing in 16 games, Hall rushed for 1,065 yards and scored four touchdowns for an otherwise miserable Jets offense.

NFL training camp and the preseason are a great time for teams and fans alike to get to know their rookie class before the start of the week-to-week brutality of the regular season.
In the introduction of Kansas City Chiefs rookie defensive tackle Peter Woods to the pros, one fun fact has escaped containment. The first-round pick out of Clemson apparently has an extremely good singing voice, and his teammates know about it.
"It's just something that I grew up in," Woods explained of his voice when asked about it during camp. "A lot of my family members are singers, up-and-coming in the music industry. My brother and my sister — my dad kind of cultivated that in us growing up. It's just something that I've always had and been able to use."
On Saturday, during Kansas City's first preseason game of the year, Woods and his voice were put on the spot by sideline reporter Kimmi Chex.
"You my friend have quite the reputation as an incredible singer," Chex said. "Would you be down to sing a little something here on the preseason? Give Chiefs Kingdom a little jingle?"

Even before Saturday's non-contact knee injury suffered by Jamal Adams, a sense lingered that veteran safety Harrison Smith could return to Minnesota for a fifteenth season. Now that Adams is likely lost for the year, the Vikings could make an effort to get Smith back in the fold.
And it's clear that a potential reunion has been on the table. Consider the comments from linebacker Blake Cashman to KFAN.
"I will say Harry's earned the right to take as much time as he needs and wants," Cashman said on August 5. "I'm sure there's different dialogue between him, his agent, and the coaching staff, but the guy's earned the right, I think, not to be here for the meantime if that's what he chooses.
"If he does choose to come back, or not, that's his decision. We do miss him, and we've got to fill that void, but that's what training camp is for, to get those reps in and practice that."

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A dominant fastball has made Jacob Misiorowski one of the most exciting pitchers in baseball over the past two seasons, but it was an effective slider that helped him get out of a bases-loaded jam by striking out Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman in the Milwaukee Brewers' 4-1 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday.
"He's understanding how his breaking stuff moves and what he can do with it on any particular day," Brewers manager Pat Murphy said.
Misiorowski allowed one run on five hits in six innings, needing an expanded **** nal of pitches to get out of the fifth unscathed after the bottom of the Dodgers' order had three consecutive singles to bring up Ohtani with one out. The two superstars had already faced off twice, with Misiorowski throwing six straight fastballs over 102 mph to retire him on a popup leading off the game.
Misiorowski needed three pitches to fan Ohtani, and only one was a fastball. Instead, catcher William Contreras called for a curveball and slider to bookend that 102.4 mph heater.
"William took control and saw something, and we readjusted," said Misiorowski, who improved to 12-5 while lowering his ERA to 1.75 with his 13th start this season allowing one or zero runs.

The Los Angeles Lakers are going to be totally different this year. The obvious difference is that LeBron James is gone. But, it's not just about James. When a player of his status leaves a franchise after nearly a decade, it shifts the whole dynamic of that team and its remaining stars.
Now, Luka Doncic is really the face of this franchise. He's a superstar and can handle the pressure, but one NBA **** yst thinks he's going to really have to step it up in the new season.
He's not wrong, either. The Lakers are in a bit of a tumult after losing James, and this next season is pivotal.

Rain and wind sent the University of Cincinnati Bearcats football training camp indoors for the first time on Tuesday, Aug. 11.
It's something that wouldn't have been possible had the troops been at Camp Higher Ground, their previous preseason location for 27 years. Under the lights in the morning, the Bearcats put some spirited work in with some big plays and a few scuffles.

Also during the practice, the Bearcats found out that starting left guard Evan Tengesdahl made the Wuerffel Award watch list. The Wuerffel Trophy is presented annually to the FBS player who best combines exemplary community service with leadership achievement on and off the field.
This is in addition to Tengesdahl's appearance on the Bruce Feldman Freak List published by the New York Times. UC has recently had several players listed, including defensive lineman Dontay Corleone, linebacker Jake Golday and receiver Jeff Caldwell.
