MotoGP has announced a new two-year contract with Silverstone, ensuring the British Grand Prix will remain on the calendar until at least 2028.
The news was made official on the eve of this year's United Kingdom round of MotoGP, which marks the start of the second half of the 2026 season.
Although MotoGP hasn't been able to replicate the same success that Formula 1 has enjoyed at Silverstone recently, the UK remains an important market for the championship.
The series said the agreement "provides a strong platform to continue investing in long-term success" of the event, which attracted just shy of 100,000 fans last year.
To boost the popularity of this year's event, MotoGP staged a watch party in London during the Dutch GP, while the official pre-event press conference for the British GP has also been moved to the capital.

FIFA's leadership has reaffirmed its "full support" for President Gianni Infantino, days after he was forced to abandon a plan to sell off World Cup commercial rights that triggered a rare revolt within world football's governing body.

The mood in the home clubhouse was upbeat a day after a trade deadline in which few teams showed interest in the bevy of available Cincinnati Reds players.
There seemed to be a resolve among a group of guys who generally like each other, an attitude of embracing the underdog role to try to make a run down the stretch. Some players seemed open to the suggestion that they could use the fact no serious playoff contenders wanted them as a motivating factor.
"A lot of guys love playing here and have been wanting to stay," Reds outfielder JJ Bleday said. "Whether teams were interested or not, we've still got to show up at 7 o'clock ready to go."

Now that the Major League Baseball trade deadline has come and gone, the focus shifts from speculation to evaluation.
And from where I sit, it's hard not to view the Astros' deadline as a massive disappointment.
If the reports are true that Dana Brown could be on his way out at the end of the season regardless of how this year ends, then this deadline felt less like a calculated baseball strategy and more like a last-ditch attempt to save his job.
The Astros' biggest move was sending Spencer Arrighetti, a young starting pitcher with three years of team control, in exchange for outfielder Daulton Varsho, a player who can walk away after the season. Houston also took a chance on a veteran who enjoyed an outstanding campaign a year ago but has been a shell of that player for much of this season.
That's not the type of aggressive move a first-place team should be making.

Meanwhile, ******* mins, a Princeton native, finished the race third, but earned enough points to secure his first career USAC Indiana Sprint Week championship by a mere seven-point margin over Grant. ******* mins won last Thursday's Don Smith Classic at the Terre Haute Action Track, the seventh race in the ISW competition.

Wednesday night will see the Kentucky Wildcats alumni team, La Familia, will play in the 2026 TBT (The Basketball Tournament) alumni bracket championship game. There they will take on JHX Hoops, the Kansas team, for the right to play in one final game for the $2 million prize.
This will be the first meeting between the two alumni teams, but Kentucky and Kansas do have some history. The two teams met in the 2012 NCAA championship game that the Wildcats won. They have also met a number of times in big regular season games. Kentucky leads the all-time series 24-12, though Kansas has won six of the last eight matchups.

Former NFL player-turned-analyst Ryan Clark was one of the biggest names let go by ESPN earlier this week as part of mass layoffs across Disney. Unlike some of his former co-workers at the Worldwide Leader in Sports, he learned of the decision to be laid off as he was on air for “NFL Live.”
On Wednesday, Clark responded to an article from TMZ Sports about his dismissal, suggesting that he wasn’t forced off the air during a commercial break. The report from TMZ suggested that the decision for Clark not to return on air was mutually agreed upon between him and ESPN executives. He appeared via Zoom for a segment and was not physically on set in Bristol, Connecticut. However, he no longer appeared on the show after what would be his final segment.
“I wasn’t forced?” Clark questioned on Wednesday afternoon. “I ask, ‘Should I be done now?’ The answer was ‘yes.'”

There is some increasing speculation that LeBron James is definitely heading back to the Cleveland Cavaliers and that it is only a matter of time before he makes an official decision. Some NBA fans even seem to think that he may wait until after the final game of the World Cup, which will take place on July 19, to make an announcement so that he can ensure he gets the most attention possible.
But there is also considerable doubt that James could win the NBA championship with the Cavaliers. A number of people around the league recently expressed their cynicism that the 41-year-old is the right man to put the Cavaliers over the top, with one scout even saying, "They don't want another old guy."
Sports commentator Colin Cowherd said that if Cleveland adds James, it will become slow and defensively challenged.
"LeBron (James) will make you the worst defensive team," Cowherd said. "Slowest player in the NBA last year was James Harden. He's a Cav. You know the second-slowest player? LeBron James, if he goes to Cleveland. They'll be the worse team in terms defensively, and they weren't very good last year, even with rim protection.
"... Slow is not what you need in the NBA. Youth, speed, and athleticism is."

There is arguably no tougher team to get a gauge on heading into the 2026 season than Penn State. They hired Matt Campbell after their rollercoaster ride of a season last year and he appeared to be tasked with stabilizing the program.
But now with a favorable schedule and a team full of familiar faces thanks to more than 20 Iowa State transfers, the expectations are back on for the Nittany Lions. ESPN releases a Football Power Index each offseason to predict which teams will be ranked to start the season, and they are projecting Penn State to land at No. 17.
If you told anyone on the roster or in the organization that they have a chance to be ranked at the start of the 2026 season they would have taken it. Sure, there may be a few teams you can quibble about being above the Nittany Lions, but being on this list at all should be a positive sign.
Only five Big Ten teams are listed ahead of them — Oregon, USC, Ohio State, and Michigan — which would be a significant improvement from last year when Penn State finished outside of the top ten in the conference. Marc Marquez believes he can best hope for a third-place finish in Sunday's German Grand Prix unless he is able to make a step overnight, despite going unchallenged for victory in the sprint.
While Marquez has been the fastest rider so far this weekend at the Sachsenring, setting the fastest lap on Friday before topping both qualifying and the sprint on Saturday, the factory Ducati star believes repeating that result in the grand prix won't be easy.
The Spaniard reckons he wasn't the fastest rider in the half-distance race, believing it was his strategy that allowed him to outfox both his younger brother Alex Marquez and Fabio di Giannantonio.
Marquez has won at the Sachsenring 12 times during his career, including nine in the premier class, but warned he faces a much more difficult situation this time to remain on top.
"That's what happens at Sachsenring, you win and it's considered normal," he said. "Now the question is why the others finished so close.
