British sprinter Amy Hunt is among the female athletes to speak out against a controversial sports gambling advert starring actress Sydney Sweeney.
The advert has gone viral online and features American Sweeney naked but covering parts of her body with various pieces of sporting equipment.
It has sparked a strong reaction, with many female athletes criticising its ******* ualisation of women in sport, and how they are being defined by their appearance rather than their achievements as sportswomen.
Hunt, who became a four-time European champion earlier this summer, referenced the advert after she ran a season's best 22.10 seconds to finish fourth in the 200m final at the Ultimate Championship in Budapest on Sunday.
"Sydney Sweeney, this is what women in sport look like," Hunt said in her post-race interview with BBC Sport.

Cruz appeared on ESPN's Saturday morning pregame show ahead of No. 4 Texas' matchup vs. No. 1 Ohio State and was met with loud boos while discussing the Protect College Sports Act, according to Sports Illustrated. Video shared by Awful Announcing showed the Texas Republican being booed during the segment, with some in the crowd chanting, "Ted, you suck!"

Derby boss John Eustace has explained why Eiran Cashin missed the Rams' defeat to West Ham following his season-long loan move from Brighton.
Cashin was absent from the squad because of an ankle problem which had also kept him out of action during his final weeks at Brighton.
"Eiran's struggling a little bit with his ankle," Eustace said. "I think he's missed the last couple of weeks at Brighton, so hopefully he'll be joining in at some point this week."
Bobby Clark was only fit enough to start on the bench after suffering a hamstring scare, while Filip Bilbija was ruled out with a back injury.

Saturday, Sept. 5 marks the first head-to-head matchup between O'Brien and UC head coach Scott Satterfield when the Eagles come to Cincinnati. Both coaches need positive results out of the gate for their respective fan bases.
"Just like us, they have a lot of new players," O'Brien said. "Their secondary is out of the portal. They have a veteran offensive line that's very, very good. Waivers are set to process at 1 p.m. ET. Here are Baltimore's biggest risks, according to Beatdown's staff.
Dustin's take: The biggest waiver risks for me would be Robert Longerbeam, Adisa Isaac, and Rayshaun Benny. Longerbeam had a very strong preseason in his rebound from a season-ending injury that derailed his rookie season before it began last year. He deserved to make the roster, but the Ravens had too many quality cornerbacks ahead of him. Cornerback depth is of utmost importance in the NFL, so it would not surprise me to see someone claim Longerbeam. Isaac has the pedigree of being a former third-rounder, but injuries have kept him from showcasing his potential so far. I am sure that at least one team will be willing to take a chance on a young athletic pass rusher like Isaac. Similar to Longerbeam, Benny was victim to a loaded position group. Benny played well this preseason, but the team decided to go with Aeneas Peebles as the final defensive lineman over Benny, which is a decision I support.
Zach's take: The Ravens have five main guys I want on the practice squad that I'm worried about getting claimed. The first is recent seventh-round pick defensive tackle Rayshaun Benny, who flashed a bit during the preseason but not enough to steal a spot from Broderick Washington. Benny has pass potential on a brand new rookie contract so there's a chance somebody with lacking defensive line depth could put in a claim. The next is offensive tackle Gerald Lichtenhan. He was maybe the most steady offensive lineman during the preseason and a guy they had last year as well. Offensive line depth is always a luxury in the NFL, so it wouldn't be too shocking to see somebody grab him. Next is the pair of pass rushers the Ravens waived, Adisa Isaac and Kaimon Rucker. Both flashed plenty in the preseason and had sacks but Ethan Burke simply made more plays and impacts more phases of the game. I think at least one of these guys gets claimed, likely Isaac, but hopefully the Ravens can get back at least one, if not both on the practice squad. Lastly, cornerback Robert Longerbeam finally had a chance to show what he could do after suffering an injury during his rookie year last preseason. He showed great coverage and open field tackling ability and I think a team would be lucky to grab him as depth. But hopefully the Ravens can sneak last years draft pick back on their practice squad.

I'll keep this one short: The Green Bay Packers target their pre-draft visitors at a high clip, whether it's the draft, as initial undrafted free agents or further down the line. For example, last cutdown cycle the team traded a pick for offensive linemen Darian Kinnard and picked up tight end Josh Whyle to the practice squad. Whyle eventually ended up winning a roster spot and made this year's initial 53-man roster.
So, who was just made available to the Packers all at once? Good question. So far (every team hasn't officially announced their roster yet), these are the players who just hit the market and were brought to Green Bay during their draft cycle (since 2022, when the team started targeting more draft picks).

With just days ahead of a flight to Melbourne, Australia for their season-opening showdown with the Rams, several 49ers stars descended upon St. Francis High School in Mountain View to watch Kyle Shanahan's son play.
George Kittle and his wife Claire, Kyle Juszczyk and his wife Kristin, Christian McCaffrey, Trent Williams and Mac Jones were all in attendance for the first St. Francis game of the season with a field-level view against Manteca High School. Instagram Stories posts by Kristin Juszczyk and Claire Kittle show the pair en route to and in attendance at a high school football game, and the group of 49ers can be seen sitting underneath the scoreboard on the school's livestream of the game.
While there were many games going on across the Bay Area on Friday night, the connection with their coach's family appears to be a big reason why all the 49ers went to the Mountain View private school for a game. Shanahan's son, Carter, is a junior this year who takes after his dad, who was a wide receiver at the University of Texas, and plays the same position for the Lancers. Carter Shanahan was a starter on Friday night as the Lancers beat Manteca, 31-23, and even was the team's primary kick returner.
The 49ers ties at St. Francis run deeper than just the coach's kid, too. Former 49ers quarterback Alex Smith and Hall of Fame defensive lineman Bryant Young were hired as ******* istant coaches for the varsity team over the summer, and both are in their first seasons on the Lancers' staff. And two former St. Francis players are currently with the 49ers: the team signed defensive end Villami "Junior" Fehoko Jr. last week and employs Michael Lauck, a former quarterback at the school, on the 49ers' video team. Other former 49ers stars have also sent their kids to St. Francis in the past, including Hall of Fame safety Ronnie Lott and former head coach Steve Mariucci, and were frequently seen at the school's sporting events.
It isn't the first time the 49ers have made their presence felt on the St. Francis football field, as Shanahan also attended his son's junior varsity game last season after his team's Week 5 dramatic win against the Rams.

Angel Reese can breathe a sigh of relief after her eighth technical foul of the season got rescinded by the WNBA ahead of the Atlanta Dream's game against the Minnesota Lynx.
Angel Reese is in fine form at the moment, although she was not able to help the Atlanta Dream beat the Portland Fire on Friday night. The team lost 101-83, a disappointing result.
However, things could have been much worse for Reese and her team. During the 4th quarter, when the Dream were trying to make a comeback, Angel was awarded a technical foul.
It would have been her eighth of the season, leading to an automatic one-game suspension. This would have seen her miss the team's clash against the Minnesota Lynx, but the 24-year-old doesn't have to worry about that anymore.

So, today's Question of the Day is simple: Who will be Bayern Munich's Meister of the Match vs. VfB Stuttgart?
There are several strong candidates to consider.
Harry Kane will naturally be one of the first names that comes to mind. The Bayern Munich striker remains the focal point of the attack and has consistently demonstrated his ability to decide matches with his finishing, movement and link-up play. If Bayern Munich are going to start the season with a statement victory, Kane could very easily be at the center of it.
Michael Olise is another obvious candidate. His creativity, technical ability and knack for producing decisive moments make him one of Bayern Munich's most dangerous attacking players. Stuttgart will have to find a way to limit his influence.

Detroit Tigers starter Troy Melton did his part in an afternoon pitchers duel, save for one early inning that put his squad behind for good.
Despite another quality start from Melton, the Tigers lost, 3-0, to the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday, Aug. 26, at Comerica Park in Detroit. The loss gave the Rays the series win and dropped the Tigers to 62-71.
It was Melton's ninth quality start of the season, as the righty allowed three runs over seven innings but left with the loss, his third of the year. Melton's efficient outing didn't help the Tigers match Tampa Bay starter Freddy Peralta, who threw six scoreless innings in his best start since the Rays acquired him at the trade deadline from the New York Mets.
The Rays scored two runs in the second inning, which turned out to be all the offense they needed to secure the win. Meanwhile, the Tigers recorded just two total hits and didn't bring a single runner into scoring position.
And the challenge only gets greater for the Tigers. After a day off on Thursday, Aug. 27, Detroit hosts the back-to-back World Series-winning Los Angeles Dodgers in a three-game set, with a familiar friend taking the hill on Friday, Aug. 28, for the defending champions.

Four years after David "Mad Dog" DeMarco left the Lansing airwaves, he's back with a television show and podcast, both through WLNS.
DeMarco, who hosted a sports talk radio show in Lansing for 26 years before leaving town in 2022, has returned with a regular podcast and weekly TV show, both ***** led "Beyond the Playbook, with Dave 'Mad Dog' DeMarco".
The television show airs at 6 p.m. Sundays on WLAJ and at 9:30 a.m. Thursdays on WLNS. He's taped seven episodes so far. The podcast, also from the WLNS studios, also drops once a week.
DeMarco, 66, described plans for the TV show as "Carson-esque" in its style, each show with a guest that he interviews. The podcast "is more Mad Dog-ish than anything," he said. Those who used to listen to his radio show on WVFN 730-AM will understand what that means in terms of listening experience.
DeMarco and his wife, Carole, left Lansing in 2022 for Cedar Bluff, Alabama, building a home next to his brother and sister-in-law. There, DeMarco worked in radio news at WEIS.

Philosophically, we've seen Ohio State morph from the up-tempo attack of Ryan Day's formative head coaching years, to the glacial offense we witnessed last year that slowed OSU down to the 135th slowest pace in the country.

Texas A&M's 2026 season opener vs. Missouri State is just two weeks away, and third-year coach Mike Elko and his staff should be excited about the progress the 2026 roster has made, especially quarterback Marcel Reed, who is entering his second full starting season after throwing for a career-high 3,169 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions last fall.
While the season at hand is the focus, Elko will also utilize all seven home games in Kyle Field to host a long list of 2028 prospects, including five-star quarterback Donald Tabron II, who committed to the Aggies last weekend. On Thursday, it was confirmed by Rivals that one of the Aggies' priority 2028 prospects, four-star safety James Foster III, has set his visit date with the Aggies.

"I think that will be predicated on how the practice against New Orleans goes, how tomorrow goes," said McVay. "I think what's been helpful for us is really just taking it a day at a time. I know I get myself out of whack when I get too far ahead of myself. We ask our players to stack days, be totally and completely present. I have not made that decision yet and genuinely, that is the truth.
"A large part of that decision will be predicated on what happens on Tuesday and then a lot of it, especially with what happens on Thursday. I'm hopeful that we're able to get as many reps as we did against Dallas. New Orleans has a practice against the Cowboys on Tuesday. Hopefully they come out of that thing healthy and we're able to get what Kellen [Moore] and I have talked about as the workload for our ones and twos. That'll be great situational work and great ability to be able to move the ball all over the field."
In Kansas City, Bennett played the first quarter, with Simpson finishing out the game. Starting quarterback Matthew Stafford is expected to participate in the joint practice, as well, which will push Bennett to the second team and Simpson potentially out of the rotation again.
