America's newest college graduates were sold the college premium. Four in 10 of them are working jobs that never needed the diploma.
About 42% of recent college graduates, ages 22 to 27, were underemployed in June, working jobs that typically don't require a bachelor's degree, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York's tracker of the labor market for recent college graduates. That's up from 41.8% in May but down from 42.4% in November 2025 and below the pandemic-era high of 43.4% in October 2020.
Unemployment is the other half of the problem. Recent grads' jobless rate hit 5.7% in June, well above the 4.1% rate for all workers. That's a reversal. From 1990, when the Fed's data begins, through 2018, recent grads were more likely to be unemployed than the average worker in just eight months. They have been more likely every month since January 2021. The gap hit a record 1.8 percentage points in April 2025 and is still near it.
Some degrees fare much worse than others. Using 2024 Census data, the Fed's breakdown by college major found criminal justice had the most underemployment, at 65.8%, followed by performing arts at 63.9% and fine arts at 58.9%.
On unemployment, computer engineering was second-worst of any major at 7.8%, and computer science fourth at 7%. Education majors fared best: special education had a 0.7% jobless rate and elementary education 1.2%. Nursing was 2.1%.

Hunter caught a 7-yard touchdown pass from Trevor Lawrence early in the fourth quarter, then intercepted Houston quarterback C.J. Stroud in the end zone on the Texans' next drive. He became the first NFL player since Brian Dawkins in 2002 to record both a receiving touchdown and an interception in the same game.
The Jaguars ultimately fell 34-31 when Houston kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn made a 49-yard field goal as time expired. Hunter's rare contribution helped Jacksonville stay within reach, but the Texans got the final points.

Although Messick insisted his arm and body feel good, he has pitched 200 innings in the 2026 regular season and postseason combined — far more than he had ever pitched in a single college or minor-league season.
Whether Messick is fatigued or fresh, the bottom line is the Guardians used a new wrinkle with a rookie pitcher under the bright lights of the playoffs, and he did not perform well in a monumental Game 5.

With Jaylen Brown gone, they have filled all the gaps by committee. Hugo Gonzalez and Baylor Scheierman get to play both ends with hustle. Paul George still has that fringe NBA All-Star quality and can shoot the lights out. However, Coach Joe Mazzulla is looking at a key player. It's none other than Payton Pritchard. The Celtics head coach has all the belief in their guard and even noted specific traits that will make him helpful to the squad led by Jayson Tatum.
For a long time, a few monoliths have described Payton Pritchard. He's been seen as the Celtics' offensive spark plug, or the guy you give the ball to in the clutch. Now, he will be up for bigger roles in Coach Joe Mazzulla's system due to the Jaylen Brown trade.
There are obviously a lot of doubts about Pritchard. Much of it stems from the fact that he's an undersized guard and the running belief that he could be a defensive liability. Coach Mazzulla does not think that way at all. In fact, the Celtics head honcho outlined what made their veteran guard special. Those same traits could also make a big difference on a team centered around Jayson Tatum, according to Jay King of The Athletic.
"He just plays with a chip on his shoulder, but doesn't have an ego. And I think that's a balance that's difficult for people to be able to have. Like, if you tell him he's starting, if you tell him he's coming off the bench, if you tell him he's playing 20 (minutes), if you tell him he's playing 30, the chip on his shoulder never changes. He doesn't need the affirmation to be an elite competitor. The Kansas City Chiefs are yet to lose a game still since Patrick Mahomes returned and the season began. On Sunday, they took on the NFL's worst team at the moment, the Los Angeles Chargers, and secured a commanding 22-6 victory to take their record to 5-0.
LA's offensive woes continued and somehow got even worse during this game. Justin Herbert was unable to get anything going, so the Chiefs' mistakes also went unpunished. Giving his two cents on the game in the aftermath, **** yst Nick Wright was quick to point that out.
Kansas City's record may be perfect, but the team itself was quite far away from that against LA. Mahomes threw an interception and Kansas City also missed an extra point, to give some examples. At the NFL level, mistakes like this are usually punished.

OLD LYME — Vivian Boller was a freshman already playing regularly for the Lyme-Old Lyme girls soccer team when she brought a request to her coach.
"She was playing outside midfield and she wasn't taking any throw-ins," coach Caroline Wallace said. "And she came up and said, 'Caroline, I want to take the throw-ins,' and I was like, 'Go for it.'"
It may seem like a simple request from a young soccer player, but there was a little more to it. Boller was born without a left arm, and in soccer, throw-ins are done with both hands on the ball.
"I have a vague memory of it," Boller said, "but it's still in the back of my mind. Playing for my (youth) team, I remember going up for a throw-in because my coach really liked to play quick, once the ball goes out, you grab it and play it immediately. I went to grab it and the other coach said something along the lines of, 'She can't do that. That's not legal.'"
No one, though, can tell Vivian Boller, now a junior, she can't do something and expect it to stick. It hasn't been an issue in high school, where Boller now plays center midfield with a traditionally powerful girls soccer program. She also plays guard for the basketball team and competes in sprints and jumps for the two-time state champion girls track team.

Still, expectations are that the former five-star prospect will rebound at home against Texas A&M's respectable but beatable defense, especially given the Aggies' pass-rush issues. On a night when Dak Prescott threw two interceptions, Schottenheimer pointed the finger at turnovers.

Both clubs were initially ordered to pay €260,000 after the use of pyrotechnics during the final, prompting Bayern and Stuttgart to appeal the original decisions. The appeals have now produced considerably different, but welcome, results for both clubs.
Stuttgart's fine has been reduced to €200,000, meaning the club will save €60,000 from the original punishment. Bayern came out even better, with its fine reduced to €170,000—a €90,000 reduction from the initial ruling.

Füllkrug returned to Werder Bremen this season, a club he left in 2023 to join Borussia Dortmund. In 2024, he moved to West Ham, but struggled due to injuries.
He's at Bremen on a loan from the Premier League side and has scored seven goals in seven games across all competitions so far.

Why It Matters: Unquestionably the most important thing that happened for Kraft on Sunday night was that he avoided another knee injury as he headed to the blue medical tent after taking a low hit. He was able to return, however, which is big news for the Packers and Kraft owners. While the talented tight end still hasn't gotten fully back to form, he's one of the three pillars of the passing game with Christian Watson and Matthew Golden, and as those two continue to command attention, it should open things up for Kraft. He's a low-end TE1 right now, but he could push toward top-five status if he can recapture his pre-injury form.

Liverpool's midfield is probably going to be their main area of focus in the January transfer window.
At the moment, the Anfield outfit only have four central midfielders among their ranks with one of them being 19-year-old Trey Nyoni.
And, although each player is good, this season, only Alexis Mac Allister has really met expectations.
Indeed, Nyoni has done well when called upon but, since he's still so young, he can't be relied upon for every game.
Others, such as Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch have failed to make their mark which is why so many midfielders have been linked with a Liverpool switch.

If how the Premier League table looks now (see below), was still the same after the final matches in May 2027, then I am guessing most Newcastle fans would be currently settling for that. Right?
