Now, Morant has revealed what he is looking forward to most about beginning his new journey in Portland.

Girona lost 1-2 against Castellón at Montilivi in a match they had under control but let slip away in the final stretch. The Girona team took an early lead but ended up paying a high price for playing with ten men for more than half an hour.
Quique Álvarez's team started with determination and found their reward in the 7th minute. Zamorano capitalized on a rebound from the visiting goalkeeper to score a volley and make it 1-0. Shortly after, however, Bryan Gil had to leave the field due to muscle discomfort, a setback that disrupted the home team's plans.
Girona held off the advances of a Castellón side that gradually gained ground but managed to reach halftime in the lead. In the second half, the match definitively turned when Abel Ruiz received a second yellow card, leaving the team with ten players.
With a numerical advantage, Castellón increasingly dominated Girona, who defended their lead as best they could. However, their resistance crumbled in the final moments. Sienra scored the 1-1 in the 85th minute, and just five minutes later, Álvaro García completed the comeback with the 1-2.
Girona tried until the end but could not find the goal that would have allowed them to salvage at least a point. A painful defeat at Montilivi, after a match that Girona had in their hands but ultimately lost due to being a man down and Castellón's late surge.

NEW DELHI, Sept 9 (Reuters) - India's Serious Fraud Office has recommended Xiaomi be investigated for alleged irregularities in its business model and compliance with foreign investment law, potentially intensifying scrutiny of the smartphone maker, a government document shows.
China's Xiaomi was once India's top-selling smartphone brand but has seen its market share dwindle amid intense competition from Apple ‌and Samsung. It is also battling several tax demands and royalty payment disputes.
The recommendation from India's Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) said the investigation should examine movement of funds and whether Xiaomi sought ‌mandatory investment approvals as required after India tightened scrutiny of Chinese investments following deadly border clashes between the two nations in 2020.
A person familiar with the matter said the government is examining the memorandum, which was drafted in May and reviewed by Reuters.

On August 12, Flywire (NASDAQ:FLYW) expanded its partnership with Trustly, bringing "Pay by Bank" open banking payments to customers across the US and Canada. The expansion lets payers authorize ACH and Pre-Authorized Debit transfers straight from their bank login, skipping the routing and account numbers that trip up so many cross-border payments. It is the kind of unglamorous plumbing upgrade that rarely makes headlines, but for a company built on moving money across borders, cutting payment friction is close to the whole business model.
Flywire and Trustly have partnered since 2017, first in Europe, and this expansion carries that same playbook into North America. Trustly runs a real-time balance check the moment a payer authorizes a transaction, catching insufficient funds before the payment is submitted rather than after. For cross-border transfers, Flywire manages the funds through the return window itself, which cuts down on the reversals that have long made international payments messy for clients and their customers alike. "We're applying the open banking infrastructure we've successfully scaled across Europe to North America, enabling our clients to confidently offer their payers a proven experience," said Kate Moran, Flywire's Vice President of Global Payments.
The timing lines up with a quarter of accelerating growth. On August 4, 2026, Flywire reported second-quarter revenue up 27.2% year over year to $167.7 million, while total payment volume jumped 38.2% to $8.2 billion. Management raised its full-year guidance for both revenue growth and adjusted EBITDA margin, and the business is no longer leaning on education alone. Flywire signed more than 200 new clients across 45 countries during the quarter, with hospitality wins spanning nearly 90 U.S. hotel properties and education revenue outside its core markets growing more than 30% year over year.
Growth came with a cost. Gross margin slipped to 53.4% in the second quarter of 2026 from 57.0% a year earlier, and adjusted gross margin fell even further, from 61.1% down to 56.6%. That is a meaningful step backward on a per-dollar basis even as the top line expanded by double digits, and it raises the question of whether faster growth is being bought with thinner margins on the payments themselves.
Flywire also still posted a GAAP net loss of $8.1 million for the quarter, an improvement from the $12.0 million loss a year earlier but a loss nonetheless. And the company's own leadership flagged caution ahead: CFO Cosmin Pitigoi said Flywire is keeping its ***** umptions for the education vertical conservative because of the current visa policy environment, an acknowledgment that the company's largest historical vertical faces headwinds outside its control.

While standing in a private parking lot in Sussex, Wisconsin, on May 4, 2025, Napoleon Jones witnessed a traffic stop made by an out-of-county police officer. "It just didn't sit right with me," Jones told TMJ4 News, a local NBC News affiliate. "So I did what I legally could do, and I walked over and recorded it."
Jones, a United States Navy veteran, was well within his rights to record the police stop. But even though he recorded from a safe distance without interfering, that didn't stop the Waukesha County Sheriff's deputy, Brandon Shayhorn, from later unlawfully stopping and arresting Jones.
After Shayhorn completed the traffic stop, Jones returned to his vehicle. But before Jones could exit the parking lot, Shayhorn turned on his lights and initiated a second stop, claiming Jones' temporary license plate, displayed in the rearview window, was unreadable, reports TMJ4 News. Shayhorn demanded to see Jones' driver's license, but Jones refused, arguing that he'd been unlawfully pulled over on private property. Video clips of the encounter show the deputy opening Jones' door and pulling him from his vehicle.
Jones was subsequently arrested "for resisting and obstructing," according to a federal lawsuit he filed against the arresting officers and police department. But after being held in custody for five hours, he was released with no citations or criminal charges. An internal post-arrest memorandum reviewed by Reason revealed that Shayhorn's supervisor informed him shortly after the arrest that he'd, in fact, illegally stopped Jones, and he therefore could not compel Jones to produce his identification.
The next day, Jones filed a citizen's complaint against Shayhorn for the illegal stop and said he believed Shayhorn retaliated against him for exercising his First Amendment right to record. Jones then sought legal counsel to pursue claims against the arresting officers and the police department for his unlawful stop, detention, and arrest.

Oil prices surged Tuesday following U.S. military action against Iranian targets in the Strait of Hormuz, a retaliatory move after Tehran launched overnight attacks on vessels passing through the waterway.
The November Brent crude contract jumped 3.8% to $94.36 a barrel, a level not seen in nearly two weeks. West Texas Intermediate, the U.S. benchmark, gained 4.3% to $89.46 a barrel for the October delivery contract, a move that would mark its best close in more than a month.
The afternoon rally built on momentum that had already been building since the morning session, with settlement data for both benchmarks sourced from Dow Jones Market Data.
The strikes mark a renewed escalation in the Strait of Hormuz, which has been the site of ongoing conflict. The U.S. and Iran had signed a memorandum of understanding on June 17, but that agreement collapsed almost immediately. Since then, Iran has demanded sanctions relief and an end to the U.S. naval blockade before the waterway can reopen, while Washington has maintained the blockade rather than conducting additional airstrikes — until Tuesday.
The Hormuz disruptions have taken a significant toll on global oil supply. The International Energy Agency cut its 2026 global oil supply forecast to 102 million barrels per day in August, a decline of 4.3 million barrels per day on the year, citing the breakdown of the ceasefire and a renewed closure of the strait. Middle East oil loadings had briefly touched 20 million barrels per day in early July before retreating to roughly 12 million barrels per day as attacks on tankers and energy infrastructure resumed. The IEA projected the global oil market would show a deficit of 1.8 million barrels per day in the third quarter of 2026.

Brennan ******* et Management recently released its Q2 2026 investor letter. The letter can be downloaded here. Investors were optimistic about a potential truce with Iran, highlighted by a mid-June memorandum for negotiations on regional security and sanctions, causing oil prices to drop and the market to rally. Despite geopolitical uncertainties, investors remain focused on a surge in AI infrastructure spending, which is expected to heavily influence the global economy, although questions about the returns from this investment loom. Overall, the S&P 500 remains at high valuations, seemingly unfazed by these challenges, while there are few pockets of value left, mostly outside the U.S. market. In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Brennan ******* et Management highlighted Liberty Capital Corporation (NASDAQ:GLIBK). Liberty Capital Corporation (NASDAQ:GLIBK) is a communication services company that provides a range of data, wireless, video, voice, and managed services. GCI Liberty, Inc. rebranded to Liberty Capital Corporation in May 2026. On August 31, 2026, Liberty Capital Corporation (NASDAQ:GLIBK) closed at $26.03 per share. In the letter, we blamed ourselves for giving LILAK's management team too much slack even though operating performance continued to contradict their rosy projections. Selling shares in a longer-term holding that has not worked is no fun, but it is part of the investment process.
In our Q3 2025 letter, we detailed our investment in GCI Liberty (later renamed Liberty Capital) and described how we felt that the company traded substantially below the value of the Alaska Cable business, which implied that investors were seemingly ascribing negative value to the prospects of deals from John Malone and company. During the New York Yankees 16-1 win over the Boston Red Sox on Sunday, WEEI radio's Red Sox play-by-play man Will Flemming made some alarming comments about Jazz Chisholm Jr.
Chisholm stole two bases in the eighth inning with the Yankees holding on to a six-run lead. He proceeded to call Chisholm a bush league player and said he does not play the game the right way. He also said that pitcher Jovani Morán should intentionally hit Austin Wells, who was at the plate, in retaliation for Chisholm stealing. Yankees players and fans were rightfully upset, including New York Knicks star Josh Hart.
"Yo (Red Sox) your idiotic announcer got to go," Hart said on X on Monday.
Cam Schlittler, who's never shy about going on social media, later tweeted out seemingly in support of Hart's message.

As noted earlier, it is incredibly difficult to hold onto winners over time, especially when one has an experience like CHTR. As we have discussed in prior letters, CHTR was once a fantastic winner for us -- really. We sold roughly half and, with the benefit of hindsight, life would be easier if we had sold the rest. What makes it hard is less arithmetic than psychology. A winner that visibly surrenders its gains inflicts far more mental anguish than the same dollar gain ever delivers in pleasure. That asymmetry – the very loss aversion we described with TIGO and GTX – is exactly what tempts investors to sell the sort of hated, mispriced name they should be holding.

NEW YORK (AP) — Several New York Yankees are taking exception to comments made by Boston Red Sox radio announcer Will Flemming during a weekend series between the rivals.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. was among the players who called out Flemming on Monday after the WEEI radio announcer called the second baseman a "bush league player" for stealing two bases with the Yankees leading 7-1 in the eighth inning of Sunday's series finale.
Chisholm and several teammates also called out Flemming for suggesting Red Sox pitcher Jovani Moran retaliate by beaning Yankees catcher Austin Wells.
"They're called unwritten rules because you're not really breaking any rules," Chisholm told reporters before Monday's game against the Los Angeles Angels. "You've seen teams — actually them — do the same thing where they're pouring on runs. We didn't have nothing to say or nothing to do about it. That's just showing how unprofessional he is."
Flemming apologized on social media for what he said during the telecast.

Citing threats, Red Sox radio play-by-play man Will Flemming apologized Monday for saying Boston pitcher Jovani Morán should drill catcher Austin Wells and start a fight with second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr., because he thinks Chisholm is a "bush league player" that "doesn't play the game the right way."
"Since I have been receiving nonstop calls and threats, I felt like it was important to hop back on here and say: My comments during yesterday's broadcast crossed a line. I'm emotional and a fan at heart and that bled into the broadcast," he posted on X,
"I meant no disrespect to the Yankees players or organization. I could and should have used different words. These rivalry games get me fired up; I apologize for letting the emotion of the moment get the best of me."
Knicks guard Josh Hart also posted on X: "Yo redsox your idiotic announcer got to go."
With the Yankees up 7-1 in a game they won 16-1, Chisholm stole a pair of bases to get to third base.

The Portland Trail Blazers star Ja Morant has officially put his Memphis days behind him, as he no longer has a home in the city where he was drafted. The former Grizzlies player sold his two-story mansion in Memphis, Tennessee, for a reported amount of $3.2 million earlier this week after initially listing it for $3.5 million.
He initially paid $3.05 million for the mansion and has since made a $150,000 profit on the sale four years after buying it in 2022, when he signed his $197.2 million max contract with the Grizzlies. The house reportedly has seven bedrooms and spans 13,836 square feet on 6.45 acres.
'Homes of Celebs' got an inside look at the property. They described that it has a beautiful foyer, a home office, a living room with a built-in bar, a formal dining room, a kitchen, a private lounge, an en-suite bathroom, walk-in closets, a salon, a poker room, a billiards room, a sauna, a movie theater, and much more.
This property is apparently just 62 feet away from a property that he bought for his parents with his first contract in 2019. Morant reportedly has a net worth of $50 million and has already earned about $150 million through 2026 of his $236.8 million in guaranteed career earnings (leaving almost $87 million in future earnings over the next two years).
The 27-year-old begins a new life in Portland with the Trail Blazers, now looking to bounce back from a controversy-ridden 2025-26 season in Memphis. Former NBA players Isaiah Thomas, Matt Barnes, and Stephen Jackson feel all eyes will be on Ja Morant in 2026-27 for a comeback season.

There's a ghost following Cooper Hoffman. Luckily for me, he brings it up first.
We're only around 20 minutes into breakfast at the West Village staple Morandi the first time Hoffman mentions his late father, the beloved actor Philip Seymour Hoffman. The restaurant has long been one of his family's favorite haunts, and the booth three spots over is where Hoffman recently celebrated his younger sister's high school graduation and acceptance to either Michigan State or the University of Michigan (Hoffman, laughing and shamefaced, keeps forgetting which). When the conversation turns to the New York Knicks' unbelievable playoff run, a decades-in-the-making miracle that Hoffman had to watch "drunk in bed" while in London attending a wedding, he invokes the memory of a man he lost just a month before his 11th birthday.

Saudi Aramco has announced more than $3.7 billion in potential agreements with French companies as the oil giant moves to strengthen its supply chain and expand the use of artificial intelligence and other digital technologies across its operations.
The agreements and memorandum of understanding were announced during a French-Saudi investment roundtable attended by Aramco President and CEO Amin Nasser.
The package includes a corporate procurement agreement covering drilling equipment and a purchase agreement for oil country tubular goods, or OCTG, a category of steel pipe used in drilling and well construction.
Aramco Digital also signed an MoU establishing a framework for potential cooperation in industrial artificial intelligence, virtual twin and digital twin technologies, including possible applications in the oil and gas sector.
Aramco said the partnerships could improve operational continuity and efficiency while supporting technology transfer, capability development and supply chain resilience. The company did not identify the French counterparties in its announcement or disclose how the potential $3.7 billion value is divided among the individual agreements.

The new head of Iran's top security body warned Sunday that Tehran will see any country's support for new U.S. economic measures against the Islamic Republic as an "act of war," while Iran's president defended a memorandum of understanding with the United States as the best way out of the stalled conflict.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Monday is expected to announce the new measures after the U.S. vowed to impose an "unprecedented" level of economic warfare and isolation on a country that has lived for decades under sanctions. Also Monday, Pakistan's army chief is expected to visit Iran as mediators try to revive talks.
Meanwhile, attacks calmed on the Strait of Hormuz but posturing did not, as a recently created Iranian authority listed dozens of vessels it said will face restrictions on future transits.
Here's a look at the latest developments in the Iran war and the wider Middle East on Sunday. Full coverage can be found here.
The hard-line leader of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Mohsen Rezaei, issued his latest warning on X, with the comments quickly shared by Iranian state media.

The copper tariff premium was the visible signal that faded; the quiet rebuild of its US mines was the half of the move an investor could actually see coming.
Freeport-McMoRan (FCX) stock returned about 74% over the year to August 20, 2026, against about 20% for the S&P 500. It managed that with the Grasberg Block Cave in Indonesia still recovering toward full capacity. The part of that move Freeport controlled was visible seven months before the run began, and it was not the tariff signal everyone was watching.
The US Rebuild Was Named Seven Months Early
By late January 2025 management had already named the target: 2024 was to be the floor year for its US business, with US production guided up 8% in 2025. By April 2025 better retention had cut Freeport's reliance on costlier contractors: contractor hours at Morenci, its largest US mine, were down about 20% over the prior few quarters, and the autonomous haul truck conversion at its Bagdad mine was under way. In fiscal Q2 2026 Morenci's mining rate ran 30% higher than its five-year average, and the US mining operations delivered 2.4x more operating income in the first half of 2026 than in the first half of 2025, making them the highest earnings contributor across the portfolio of mines Freeport runs, on a US business management highlighted as exposed to favorable copper markets. Converting higher mining rates into operating income is the kind of profitability the Trefis High Quality Portfolio favors in its holdings.

Lil Durk was so intent on revenge against Quando Rondo that he turned down a chance for peace, even after the Chicago rapper orchestrated a shooting that was supposed to get Rondo but killed his cousin instead — that's the story federal prosecutors are telling in a new filing.
Durk is days away from being tried for murder-for-hire for the August 2022 shooting that killed Rondo's cousin Saviay'a Robinson — a killing that prosecutors say Durk organized and paid for as revenge for the death of his friend and labelmate King Von. In a filing on Monday (August 17), prosecutors said they have "recently identified" a chain of text messages showing that Durk had been offered a chance to squash his beef with Quando Rondo months after that shooting, but turned it down.
In a trial memorandum, prosecutors explained that they would attempt to prove at trial not only that Durk and his alleged co-conspirators attempted to kill Rondo during the 2022 shooting; they also would show evidence that the conspiracy to get violent revenge continued even after that.
To that end, they plan on introducing at trial an exhibit containing what they say is a text message and voice memo from Durk from December, 2022 "telling his co-conspirators that an affiliate of [Rondo's] reached out to 'squash' the rivalry and ask for 'peace.'"

Dow Jones futures will open Sunday evening, along with S&P 500 futures and Nasdaq futures. Nvidia earnings take center stage with CrowdStrike leading several cybersecurity reports. Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh will give his first Jackson Hole speech.
The stock market rally took damage this past week, but did a little repair work on Friday.
Mining stocks and crypto plans ran higher as gold, copper and bitcoin prices soared as the dollar tumbled. Freeport-McMoRan (FCX) led copper miner breakouts Friday while crypto-tied Robinhood Markets (HOOD) raced past an aggressive entry.
Chip and AI hardware stocks suffered big losses on Tuesday, though many are still around important resistance levels. Leading software names fell to or below key support. So this coming week could be make-or-break for tech.
Nvidia (NVDA) and Marvell Technology (MRVL) headline AI hardware earnings, along with data storage leader Everpure (P). Cybersecurity names CrowdStrike (CRWD), Okta (OKTA), Rubrik (RBRK) and Sentinel One (S) are reporting as well as enterprise software giants Salesforce (CRM) and Workday (WDAY).

Good morning. Stocks traded in the green at the open on Friday but were still pacing for weekly losses after this week's bond market intrigue. A rally in bitcoin (BTC-USD) lifted crypto stocks, while defensive names lagged.
Here's a check of the markets in the first few minutes of trading, based on a heat map powered by Yahoo Finance AlphaSpace data.
Stocks were broadly green, with the exception of Utilities (XLU). The Basic Materials (XLB) sector was the morning's leader as commodities like copper (HG=F) and gold (GC=F) rose. Financial stocks (XLF) also saw strength, propelled by gains in Robinhood (HOOD) and Coinbase (COIN) stocks.
Here are some notable stocks that Yahoo Finance readers are viewing this morning: Strategy (MSTR), SK Hynix (SKHY), Coinbase, Circle (CRCL), Alibaba (BABA), Robinhood, Freeport-McMoRan (FCX)

The Torino midfielder has remained on Celtic's radar throughout the summer, despite recent suggestions that a deal for the 22-year-old was becoming increasingly difficult.
However, a fresh report from Italy claims the Hoops have not abandoned their interest and could return with a stronger proposal if Martin O'Neill guides his side into the Champions League phase.
That possibility has moved significantly closer following Celtic's impressive 3-0 victory over LASK at Parkhead in the first leg of their play-off.
Italian journalist Giacomo Morandin reports that the financial windfall from Champions League qualification could allow Celtic to intensify their pursuit of the Lithuania international.

Wall Street has spent the last week absorbing Nvidia's (NVDA) plan to arrange half a trillion dollars of other people's money, and the sharpest objection came from someone who was explicitly trying to argue the other side. Asked on the All-In podcast published Aug. 14 where the arrangement could break, David Sacks, while still an overall bull on AI and similar, is acutely aware of the risks of the massive, multi-trillion-dollar AI buildout, saying, "The biggest risk to me is not on the demand side," he said. "The biggest risk is that you get a glut of compute and you get an overbuild. And in the same way that we had dark fiber after the dotcom crash, if you had dark GPUs, that'd be a disaster for everyone."
On Aug. 10, Nvidia said it had signed memorandums of understanding with Apollo (APO), BlackRock (BLK), Blackstone (BX), Brookfield (BN), Goldman Sachs (GS), and KKR (KKR) to establish independent compute financing platforms to "mobilize over $500 billion of third-party capital for the buildout of AI infrastructure over time." The release adds that the partnerships "remain subject to execution of the final agreements." Meaning, that figure is an aspiration, not raised money, not committed money, and not Nvidia revenue. Several outlets blurred the distinction.

Raymond Felton: 'I'm going with what Patrick Beverley said.' Charlie Villanueva: 'As a point guard, if you want to win, and you want to like… for me, I know when that flow, he's going to find you. I'd rather have Stockton on my team. I'm going Stockton. I'm going Stockton. And it's not even close.'

Raymond Felton: Ja Morant is frying John Stockton's ****** . Charlie Villanueva: In one-on-one? Felton: You understand me? Villanueva: John Stockton was a defender. He led the League in steals! What are we talking about?! — 8/20/2026 YouTube
During a recent episode of "The Pat Bev Show," former NBA player Patrick Beverley boldly claimed he would pick Ja Morant ahead of NBA legend and arguably the greatest pure point guard of all time, John Stockton. Although such a statement could be deemed blasphemous, Beverley justified it by stating: "Some people go John Stockton. I'm going Ja Morant. Some people go John Stockton because he's an actual point guard. He's going to get the ball where it needs to be. He's going to be heavy on the pocket pass. He's going to be a great leader. That's cool. Ja Morant is running circles around John Stockton's a–. Straight up. He's going to be jumping over John Stockton's a–.""I'm talking about the Stockton with the little shorts that was playing against Michael Jordan and them. I'm a huge Stockton fan. He played against the greatest ever. He did compete. I'm not taking that away from him. As a better player, a lot of people would take John Stockton. I'm taking Ja Morant." — 8/20/2026 Yahoo! Sports

After starting the season on the road against Luka Doncic and the Los Angeles Lakers, the Golden State Warriors will have to wait to return home for their home opener in the Bay Area. In their second game of the 2026-27 slate, the Warriors will open the doors of Chase Center for the first time against the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday, Oct. 23 in San Francisco.
While Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson have headlined Golden State's matchups with Memphis in the past, the 2026-27 home opener will give the Warriors their first chance at a new-look Grizzlies rotation that is littered with young talent, including the No. 3 overall pick from the 2026 NBA draft. Cam Boozer will lead a Grizzlies youth movement alongside Cedric Coward, Zach Edey and Jaylen Wells.
Since Chase Center opened its doors in 2019, the Warriors have struggled in home openers, posting a 2-5 record in seven seasons in San Francisco. However, the Warriors snapped a three-game losing streak in home openers last year when Steph Curry dropped 42 points in an overtime win over the Nuggets.
The Warriors won all three contests against the Grizzlies last season, including a 17-point comeback led by Pat Spencer. Steph Curry only played in one of the three games against the Grizzlies last season.
Golden State's home opener will mark their first back-to-back of the season, with a game against Devin Booker, Dillon Brooks and the Suns the very next day in Arizona. The Warriors will only play two games at home in San Francisco in October. However, November starts with a lengthy homestand at Chase Center.
