Stephanie White provides encouraging Aliyah Boston injury update after Fever win originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Aliyah Boston's night ended much earlier than expected Tuesday, but Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White offered an encouraging update after her team's 105-95 victory over the Seattle Storm.
Boston exited during the second quarter after tripping over Storm rookie Flau'jae Johnson and crashing knee-first into the court at Climate Pledge Arena. The four-time WNBA All-Star immediately winced in pain and needed help getting back to her feet before heading to the locker room. The Fever initially listed Boston as questionable to return, but she remained on the sideline throughout the second half.
White later suggested that Indiana held Boston out as a precaution, rather than because the center had been definitively ruled incapable of returning.
"No update other than, you know, wasn't really worth the risk for us in the second half," White told reporters. "Just want to be very conservative and make sure that she's good to go."

Former Ohio State and current Cleveland Browns defensive back Denzel Ward just got paid. He became the highest-paid DB back in 2022 with a five-year extension worth $100.5 million. That was eventually eclipsed, but with the news of Ward signing a two-year extension reportedly worth $62.2 million ($52.3 million guaranteed), he has reclaimed that distinction once again. The news was first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter.
After a distinguished career at Ohio State, where he was a consensus All-American and first-team All-Big Ten selection in 2017, Ward was selected by the Browns in the 2018 NFL draft with the No. 4 pick. That draft selection has paid off well for Cleveland. Not only did Ward make the PFWA All-Rookie team and has also been selected to five Pro Bowls.
During his 110-game career, Ward has racked up 361 tackles, 104 pass breakups, 18 interceptions and four touchdowns. He is on the shortlist as the best defensive back in the NFL.
Sources: Browns and five-time Pro-Bowl CB Denzel Ward reached agreement on a two-year, $62.2 million deal that includes $52.3 million guaranteed and makes him the highest-paid DB in NFL history for the second time in his career. As a reminder, Ohio State not only sends guys to the NFL, but they eventually get paid a ton of money as some of the best players in the League. Case in point to the Ward news: former OSU and current Seattle receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba recently made news by signing a record four-year contract extension worth $168.6 million ($120 million guaranteed).

Liverpool's pursuit of Bradley Barcola continues to gather momentum, with fresh developments suggesting the Paris Saint Germain forward has become the club's leading attacking target.
During the latest Media Matters podcast on Anfield Index, host Dave Davis was joined by Daily Mail journalist Lewis Steele to discuss Liverpool's summer recruitment. While several attacking names were mentioned, the conversation repeatedly returned to Barcola and the belief that negotiations are beginning to move into a significant phase.
Steele's insight painted a picture of a transfer that still has obstacles to overcome, but one that Liverpool are working hard to make happen.
Dave Davis opened the discussion by highlighting the latest reports surrounding the PSG winger, noting that Barcola had informed the French champions he would not sign a new contract.
He also referenced Fabrizio Romano's update that the player is "very open and keen on Liverpool", while stressing that any breakthrough would still require patience.

Frenkie de Jong's injury update earlier this week confirmed that the player would miss a big part of the opening of the new season, as he has ruptured the medial collateral ligament of his knee.
The development comes as a massive blow to Hansi Flick's plans, for De Jong has proven to be instrumental as a starter alongside Pedri in recent years for the club.
Having the club captain out to yet another injury blow, needless to say, leaves the club in a relatively tricky situation with only Pedri, Gavi and Marc Bernal left as the options to play in the deep midfield.
Further, it makes the operation of Marc Casado's departure complicated too.
As reported by Mundo Deportivo now, Barcelona have no intention of changing their transfer plans after De Jong's injury and will rely only on internal solutions until he is back.

When the NBA's calendar turned over on June 30, one of the first things the league made a point to do was announce the selection of Hinkle Fieldhouse as the first host of the NBA Cup Final outside of Las Vegas.
The IndyStar contacted the NBA to get a better sense of the process by which the league arrived at the decision to choose Hinkle. The league responded by e-mail with answers to the Star's question's from NBA Executive Vice President and Head of Global Events Kelly Flatow.
The Q&A follows.
Question: I recall Commissioner (Adam) Silver suggesting college arenas as a possibility last year. What sparked his and the league's interest in making the change out of Las Vegas and what drove the league to look at college arenas?
Answer: (The NBA referred to commissioner Adam Silver's quote from an interview in December, 2025.) “We’re talking with Amazon Prime about whether it makes sense to maybe go to some unique locations for the final game. They have suggested, for example, some storied college arenas so we’re just looking at other ways we can do this.”

According to ESPN's Ben Solak, the Indianapolis Colts won't realistically regain their 2025 first half form, citing starting quarterback Daniel Jones' uncertain health and the loss of a number of key veterans as the realistic reasons for the continued regression:
2026 outlook: Repeat of early '25 success seems unlikely
It's tough to expect anything close to a repeat performance from Jones in 2026, even before we consider the effect of the Achilles injury.
It's also worth noting that the Colts endured another offensive line departure (Braden Smith) and saw a key offensive weapon (Michael Pittman Jr.) leave the building to boot. Veteran defenders Nick Scott and Zaire Franklin both departed this offseason, leaving Day 2 rookies A.J. Haulcy and CJ Allen in line to fill their big shoes.
The sheer number of departures, along with uncertain health for Jones, makes them a tough horse to back in 2026. — Ben Solak

NEW DELHI: India's teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi once again captured the spotlight on Thursday — not just for rewriting cricket history, but also for the heartfelt celebration that followed his record-breaking half-century.

The 15-year-old produced a breathtaking innings against Zimbabwe in the first T20I at Harare, smashing a 50 off just 18 ******* to become the youngest player ever to score a fifty in men's international cricket.

Moments after reaching the milestone, Sooryavanshi broke into his now-famous 'A' celebration, forming the letter with his fingers before acknowledging the dressing room. The emotional gesture, which first went viral during IPL 2026, has now become synonymous with the young opener.

The left-hander's explosive knock featured four boundaries and four sixes, giving India a flying start in their chase of 126 after Zimbabwe were restricted to 125/7.

WATCH:
While the celebration sparked widespread curiosity during the IPL, Sooryavanshi had initially played down its significance, insisting he simply enjoyed trying different celebrations after reaching milestones.

"I don't know. I just do something new every match. I don't really plan it. There's no meaning behind it," he had said after one of his IPL knocks.

However, the real meaning behind the gesture later emerged in a behind-the-scenes Rajasthan Royals video.

Speaking to team manager Romi Bhinder, the youngster finally revealed that the 'A' is a tribute to his mother, Aarti.

"The celebration is for my mother. Her name starts with the letter 'A'," Sooryavanshi had revealed.

Since then, the celebration has become his trademark, and Thursday's emotional tribute carried even greater significance after he etched his name into the record books.
At 15 years and 118 days, Sooryavanshi eclipsed Nepal's Kushal Malla, who previously held the record after scoring his maiden international fifty at 15 years and 340 days.

The Indian opener also surpassed some of cricket's biggest names on the all-time list. Sachin Tendulkar scored his maiden international fifty at 16 years and 213 days in a Test against Pakistan in 1989, while Shahid Afridi reached the milestone at 16 years and 214 days during an ODI against Sri Lanka in 1996.

The innings also made Sooryavanshi the youngest player ever to register a 50-plus score in men's T20Is, comfortably bettering Gibraltar's Louis Bruce, who had held the previous T20I age record.

Already one of the biggest stories of IPL 2026, Sooryavanshi has now carried that form onto the international stage.

Much has already been written about the lucrative nature of FIFA’s mandated hydration breaks during the 2026 World Cup. Broadcasters like Fox cashed in in a big way, and the mid-half stoppages will certainly be a key point of discussion when FIFA brings its broadcast rights for the 2030 and 2034 tournaments to market in the coming months.
Less, however, has been said about the potential competitive benefits to hydration breaks in soccer. For the first time this summer, coaches and players were able to collect themselves mid-half to go over strategy and alter tactics to better matchup with an opponent.
Fox Sports CEO Eric Shanks is an advocate for keeping these breaks for those reasons. In an interview with Variety, he explained why.
“I think I [sic] has made the games more close,” he told the outlet, noting that the 2026 World Cup had fewer “blowouts,” which is particularly impressive considering it was the first time the field had been expanded to 48 teams. “It makes a difference for players to be able to collect their thoughts. …It has probably been a positive for the game,” Shanks said.
Plenty of sports have made changes that help make the product more entertaining, and if hydration breaks truly help competitive balance in soccer, it’s no surprise that television networks would advocate for their inclusion. But soccer is a sport steeped in history and tradition, and introducing a mandatory stoppage in each half that ultimately amounts to a strategic reset will be met with resistance by traditionalists.

The Bucs' offense was among the best in the NFL in the first half of the season in 2025. They had a breakout rookie in Emeka Egbuka, a strong offensive line, an efficient run game, and an MVP candidate at quarterback. That all came crashing down rather quickly, as the end result was that they ended up losing the division and missing the playoffs.
Now, in 2026, the Bucs' offense is healed up and ready for a bounce back.
A lot is going to be riding on the play of this offensive line again, as well as the skill players stepping up. This side of the ball should not be a problem for the Bucs, but that doesn't mean we will be looking at some more than others. Here are three players we will be looking at closely as time rolls around for camp to be in full swing.
The Bucs almost didn't get to see Jalen McMillan in 2025 after he fractured three vertebrae and suffered herniated discs after a tough hit in the preseason. He would return in December and play in just four games before the team missed the playoffs, which delayed his effectiveness. Now, with a full offseason to heal and the departure of Mike Evans in free agency, he is poised for a major role increase. McMillan realistically could be the team's WR2 by season's end, working on the outside.
He showed as a rookie that he has a strong connection with Baker Mayfield from both a work and trust standpoint. Seeing how that connection works early on in camp will be telling for how much of an impact he can make in 2026.

Hey Commanders fans, how well do you think Washington has done in having quality NFL running backs?
It will probably surprise many, but the Redskins/Commanders have actually had some of the better NFL running backs at various points of the Super Bowl era (1966-2025). Larry Brown was the 1972 NFL Offensive Player of the Year. That year, he led the NFL in rushing yards per game, averaging 101.3. Brown also led the NFL in rushing yards in 1970.
There was John Riggins, who broke an NFL record with 24 rushing touchdowns in 1983. Riggins wore the Burgundy and Gold for 114 games, rushing for 79 rushing touchdowns. In 1986, George Rogers rushed for 18 touchdowns, helping lead the Redskins to the NFC Championship Game. Earnest Byner in 1989 led all NFL runners in rushing success rate at 60.4. Terry Allen in 1996 led the NFL in rushing touchdowns with 21.
Stephen Davis had three straight seasons over 1,300 rushing yards for Washington from 1999-2001. In that 1999 season, Davis led all NFL runners averaging 100.4 rushing yards a game, and totaling 17 rushing touchdowns. In Coach Marty Schottenheimer's lone season with Washington (2001), he knew what he had in Davis and rode him 356 times (tops in the NFL) for 1,432 rushing yards.
Clinton Portis led the NFL in rushing attempts in 2007 for Washington. Portis had four seasons in Washington rushing for over 1,200 yards (1,315, 1,516, 1,262 and 1487). All Alfred Morris did was rush for over 1,000 yards three consecutive seasons in Washington (2012-2014). Morris is the answer that many Washington fans do not know: Who holds the Washington rushing yards record in a single season?' Yes, it was Morris, who rushed for 1,613 yards in that 2012 season. At age 33 in 2018, Adrian Peterson rushed for 1,042 yards, maintaining an impressive 4.2 yards per carry.

Seam bowlers Tom Norton and Ned Leonard are missing from Glamorgan's Metro Bank One Day Cup opener against Sussex at the Gnoll, Neath, on Wednesday, 22 July.
Norton suffered an unspecified injury in England Under-19s training while Leonard has not played for six weeks because of a shoulder problem.
It is a setback for Norton's progress after claiming a hat-trick and a five-wicket haul in his first month in the Championship team.
The absences mean a first call-up for Connor O'Riordan, an Australian fast bowler who has had extensive trials for the second team.
England Under-19s wicket-keeper/batter Harry Wallace is included for the first time in a senior squad, while young batters Callum Nicholls and Jack Hope-Bell could make competitive debuts.

The Spanish national team is already in the World Cup final, and its players are not only brushing up against sporting glory, but also a historic financial windfall. The Royal Spanish Football Federation finalized the bonus agreement before the tournament even began. Now, with a place in the final secured, the definitive figures have come to light.
Simply for playing in the final, each Spain player is already guaranteed €440,000 gross. This is the reward set for the World Cup runner-up, a financial floor that rewards the squad's extraordinary run right through to the last day of competition.
However, the biggest prize awaits if Spain manages to lift the trophy. If the national team is crowned champion, each international will pocket €750,000. This figure is an all-time record for Spanish football in this type of tournament.
This incentive of three-quarters of a million euros represents 25% more than what the champions of South Africa 2010 earned. On that historic occasion, the players received €600,000 after beating the Netherlands.

Like the Buffalo Bills, my time is like a toddler in a tiera – short and precious. So I'm just going to say it. The Buffalo Bills should bring Stefon Diggs back. Yes, the relationship ended badly. Yes, there was obvious tension. And yes, revisiting an old partnership can look like a team admitting it never truly replaced what it lost. That does not make the football argument wrong.
MORE: Top 7 quarterbacks in the NFL entering 2026-2027 season
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen (17) drops to throw at Empower Field at Mile High. Mandatory Credit: Ron Chenoy-Imagn Images
Josh Allen has spent two seasons working around a receiving group that has never fully replaced Diggs' route running, competitiveness or ability to command coverage. Buffalo has added the presumed WR1 (Moore), but the Bills still enter camp asking too many projection-based questions at wide receiver. Diggs would answer one of them immediately.
He is 32 and no longer the player who produced four consecutive 1,000-yard seasons in Buffalo. But he is coming off another 1,000-yard year, remains unsigned, and has made clear that he believes he can still be a high-level No. 2 receiver. Check his latest tweet on the subject – seriously.

In this week's reacts poll, we asked readers their thoughts on how many sacks will Cam Jordan get this season.
48% of voters said they think that Jordan will get between 7 and 9 sacks.
Jordan may have just turned 37 years old and is about to enter his 16th and final year in the NFL, but he has no plans to take it easy this season. In 2025, the charismatic Saints defensive end had 10.5 sacks, and while that is impressive for a player at any age, Jordan has even bigger goals for this season.
"Year 16 is going to be phenomenal for sure," Jordan said during a recent appearance on Good Morning Football. "I'm going to try to get me a good Myles Garrett 22.5, 23 (sacks), but even if all I do is be a coach, a mentor to my guys, there is nothing that is going to take away from my will and want for the black and gold to win a Super Bowl. That's in whatever capacity, but I'm giving it all. I'm squeezing every game like it's my last play I'm ever going to take. Just like I did the first snap, just like I'll do the last snap. This year's edition of the MLB Draft begins tomorrow at 1pm with the White Sox on the clock. The Orioles, after their disappointing season, ended up with a little bit of bad luck when the draft lottery played out and received the #7 pick in the draft for their trouble. They had the fourth-best odds of getting the top pick. It didn't work out that way, so the consensus top three prospects, Roch Cholowsky of UCLA, Texas high school shortstop Grady Emerson, and Georgia Tech catcher Vahn Lackey are out of their reach.
Who could the Orioles pick? No one can say for sure, for a variety of reasons. One is that the Orioles front office keeps a tight ship and they do not have their business leaking out to the media often. When it comes to the draft, that means that anything like a mock draft is usually just guessing based on what other teams think about who the Orioles like.
Another reason it's hard to say is that there are six picks ahead of the O's and there are a lot of permutations of players who could be available to the Orioles, which might lead to them choosing different guys depending on who falls down to their pick and who doesn't. The baseball media does its best to make guesses about who the Orioles like and who they would pick.
Across five national baseball media outlets, there are four different mock picks for the Orioles at #7 . That seems like a good set of names to have in mind for who could be picked. Some of these outlets could do a final mock on the day of the draft. For now, these are the most recent mocks across the prospect-writing world:

The WNBA is officially back, and as always, the Indiana Fever are the talk of the town.
Even entering her third season in the league, women's basketball fans can't get enough of Caitlin Clark. The point guard was plagued with injury throughout her sophomore campaign, only playing 13 total games. Clark is surely returning to the court with redemption top of mind.
Despite navigating a myriad of team injuries last year, the Fever were still able to push the eventual champion Aces to five games in the league semifinals. With the core of Clark, Aliyah Boston, Sophie Cunningham and Kelsey Mitchell all back in action, Indiana looks like it could be a top franchise in the WNBA this season.

Cairo, Egypt — In the hours before a historic day for millions of Egyptians, the scene is set across the country: flags flutter over cars and balconies, patriotic songs blare from loudspeakers, and cafes are transformed into mini stadiums.
And from public transport to workplaces and markets, every conversation is centred around one question: Will the Pharaohs continue their historic World Cup run when they play against Argentina?
Egypt face the reigning world champions in a round-of-16 fixture in Atlanta, United States, on Tuesday. But the match is no longer a mere football contest – it has become a national event that transcends the boundaries of the football pitch.
The national team has restored hope by reaching the tournament's knockouts for the first time and has opened the door to a long-awaited dream of competing alongside football's giants.
The match holds deeper meaning for fans following Egyptian head coach Hossam Hassan's passionate show of support for Palestine in the aftermath of his team's win over Australia in their round-of-32 match on Friday.
