Beijing is now desperately attempting to bring rare earth manufacturing back inside its own borders, exclusively.
New Chinese export restrictions specifically target American plans to begin the country's first commercial production of rare earth magnet materials by 2027.
To counter that move, REalloys (NASDAQ: ALOY) is rebuilding every major stage of North America's rare earth industry. Over the past two years, the company has **** embled heavy rare earth feedstock, separation, metallization, alloy production, and permanent magnet manufacturing into a single North American mine-to-magnet supply chain designed to operate independently of Chinese material.
And now, the company's first commercial facilities are expected to come online in the New Year, just as the Pentagon's ban on Chinese-origin rare earth magnets takes effect, forcing defense manufacturers to secure entirely new sources of supply.
Under the pressure of escalating Chinese export restrictions and the Pentagon's looming procurement ban, REalloys has become one of the focal points of America's rare earth rebuild.

The House earlier this week passed legislation that would set new restrictions on stock trading by members of Congress, their spouses and dependent children. It doesn't seem likely to cross beyond the Senate with critics deriding the measure as an inadequate one that contains "loopholes" and unrelated voting restrictions.
The stock trade bill — known as the "Stop Insider Trading Act" — passed on Wednesday in a 232-198 vote with 13 Democrats siding with every House Republican. Democratic senators, though, aren't likely to endorse the legislation since lawmakers won't be compelled to sell off their existing stock portfolio.

Remember when gas was under $4 a gallon and you could take the family out to eat without taking out a second mortgage? Ahhh, those were the days.
As the cost of living rises, everyday expenses are eating into retirement savings. Americans currently participating in workplace retirement plans anticipate needing $1.2 million on average to retire comfortably, according to a Schroders survey released this month. However, just 30% believe they will reach $1 million due in large part to rising costs, debt and competing expenses. In fact, a third of those surveyed said they have more credit card debt than retirement savings. There are also signs that wealthier clients are feeling the squeeze. It's a great chance for advisors to help clients prioritize spending to stay on track for retirement without overextending their resources today.
"While many are still contributing to retirement, they're finding it harder to increase their savings each year," said Nathan Sebesta, an advisor at Access Wealth Strategies. "Retirement savings shouldn't simply be what's left over at the end of the month. It should be treated like any other essential bill."

Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) disclosed this week that it beneficially owns 9.3% of Nebius Group (NASDAQ: NBIS), an artificial intelligence (AI) cloud infrastructure provider that has become one of the market's hottest stocks. The disclosure came in a Schedule 13G (which Nvidia filed under the rule for passive investors) covering about 22.3 million shares.
Investors treated it as a vote of confidence. Nebius shares jumped nearly 19% on Tuesday, to close at $217.09. The stock is up more than 300% over the past year.

Giverny Capital **** et Management, LLC, an investment management company, recently published its second-quarter 2026 investor letter. A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. The model portfolio returned 13.70% this quarter, compared to the S&P 500's 15.20% return. YTD, the portfolio gained 5.89%, while the index increased by 10.21%. The long-term link between stock appreciation and earnings growth is strong; Benjamin Graham described the market as a "voting machine" in the short term and a "weighing machine" in the long term. Despite the S&P 500's 10.2% rise in the first half of the year, 210 stocks lost value, indicating market anomalies. High-quality earnings compounders that benefit from AI capabilities are likely to maintain their competitive edge. Recently, the market has increasingly chased momentum. Tech giants are taking advantage of the optimism of investors amid fears of an AI bubble. Despite strong profit margins, reliance on "moonshot" investments raises sustainability concerns. The author recommends investing in both emerging tech leaders and established firms. In addition, please check the Strategy's top five holdings to know its best picks in 2026.
In its Q2 2026 investor letter, Giverny Capital **** et Management highlighted Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL). Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL), the parent company of Google, offers various platforms and services, including online search and advertising, cloud solutions, and artificial intelligence, and is a significant contributor to the Strategy's performance. On July 21, 2026, Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL) closed at $347.15 per share, reflecting a market capitalization of $4.22 trillion. Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL) posted a one-month return of 0.54%, while its shares gained 82.49% over the past 52 weeks.
Giverny Capital **** et Management stated the following regarding Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL) in its Q2 2026 investor update:
"Our two largest positions are Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL) and Arista, which I believe have strong positions in the emerging AI economy. Alphabet has a near monopoly in search, a robust cloud data center business, a leading computer chip used in AI data centers, a highly profitable **** et in YouTube and the premier autonomous driving platform in Waymo. It has built a tremendous collection of **** ets.
As for portfolio activity for the quarter, we trimmed Alphabet and Arista. We sold 17% of our position in Alphabet in April at about $380. Management subsequently sold $80 billion of stock in a secondary offering at $350 to raise money to fund more investment in data centers. I feel we did the responsible thing in trimming Alphabet as it got to nearly 12% of our portfolio. Arista and Alphabet remain our largest positions as of June 30. The valuations on both are high enough that future returns likely will be lower than we're used to, even if the businesses continue to grow."

Artificial intelligence is rapidly becoming a competitive necessity across retail. From personalised shopping experiences and demand forecasting to inventory optimisation and customer service automation, AI is changing how retailers operate and engage with customers.
Yet for many businesses, embracing AI presents a difficult challenge. Investing too slowly risks losing market share, while replacing ageing technology and integrating new systems demands significant time, money and expertise.
The result is a growing technology divide. Retailers with modern digital platforms are moving AI projects from pilot programmes into everyday operations.
Those still relying on legacy systems often struggle to unlock the same benefits because their technology was not designed to support today's data-driven applications. Industry research consistently identifies legacy infrastructure, fragmented data and skills shortages as among the biggest barriers to successful AI adoption.
At the same time, retailers continue to increase investment in AI to improve efficiency, customer experience and decision-making.

Synopsys (SNPS) sits in a rare spot in the chip world. The company makes the software that engineers use to design semiconductors, and you cannot build a modern chip without it. So it doesn't matter which company wins the AI race. Whether it's Nvidia (NVDA), Apple (AAPL), or any other chipmaker, they all need these design tools to get there. Synopsys is the largest supplier of them.
That is a strong position to be in. The company's tools are difficult to replace, which is why most of its revenue is recurring and reliable. Companies have built their entire design process around them over many years. This makes switching to a rival firm slow, costly, and risky.

Silver (SI=F) September futures opened at $55.96 per ounce on Monday, July 20, 2026, down 0.6% from Friday's closing price. The silver price moved higher this morning, reaching $57.05 as of 8:45 a.m. ET.
Silver opened lower this morning as the U.S.-Iran conflict continued, with deadly results. The death of at least three U.S. service members over the weekend brings the American death toll to more than 15. Two of the three were killed in an Iranian strike on a U.S. air base in Jordan. The attack prompted U.S. Central Command to threaten a swift punishment on Friday. U.S. strikes continued through Sunday night.
The interest rate implications of continued fighting in the Middle East is a headwind for the price of silver. An extended war raises the likelihood of higher interest rates later this year. Rate increases raise the opportunity cost of holding silver, since it does not pay a cash yield.
The opening price of silver futures on Monday, July 20, 2026, was 0.6% lower compared to Friday's closing price. Here's how today's opening silver price has changed versus last week, month, and year:

Ripple Payments Europe joined 14 firms added to the European MiCA register, lifting the total of authorized crypto providers across the bloc to 294.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSM) announced blowout earnings on Thursday and said it will increase spending to expand its US footprint. Second quarter revenue jumped 36% year over year, while net income rocketed 77.4% higher.
TSMC produces semiconductors for the world's most influential tech companies, including Apple (AAPL), AMD (AMD), Nvidia (NVDA), and Qualcomm (QCOM). And the AI boom has paid off handsomely for the Taiwan-based manufacturer. Annual revenue has increased from $75.99 billion in 2022 to $122.56 billion in 2025.

This article was originally published on ETFTrends.com.
The crescendo of AI-related spending is affecting all corners of the capital markets. Debt financing has been especially impacted this year given the epic financing needs of the largest hyperscalers. The big four — Meta, Microsoft, Alphabet, and Amazon — are slated to spend at least $700 billion in 2026, roughly 80% higher than 2025's record figure. That amounts to 2.2% of GDP in AI capex from these four names alone, before accounting for the many other companies investing at similar scale.
These capex plans do not come cheap, and the debt markets are bearing much of the load. Investment grade corporate issuance has already cleared $976 billion through May, running well ahead of the record pace set in each of the past five years, including 2025 — itself a record. Hyperscalers are the marginal driver: Alphabet, Amazon, Meta, Microsoft, and Oracle have priced roughly $110 billion of US paper year-to-date, accounting for nearly 16% of IG issuance, versus just 3% a year ago.
Yet spreads have barely flinched as demand is meeting supply. IG spreads sit near 80 basis points, consistent with the tightest levels since the mid-1990s. Yield buyers, such as pensions, insurance companies, and other liability-driven allocators have absorbed the supply, happy to harvest all-in yields that remain above 5% for IG corporates, even as spread compensation shrinks.
Spreads this tight leave little margin for error. A rebound in M&A activity, a stumble in hyperscaler return on AI investment, or a bout of supply indigestion could easily reverse positive sentiment on corporates. Hyperscaler spreads already trade more than 25 bps wider than the broader IG index, a 10-year high, hinting that the market is beginning to differentiate among issuers. Spreads are priced for a perfect AI capex cycle, but the supply imbalance will eventually correct through a buyer's revolt. Whether that comes in three months or three years is uncertain, but the current spread setup leaves little cushion when it does. All-in yields still look attractive; however, with corporate spreads offering little downside protection, we prefer to source yield from sectors with better risk-adjusted compensation.

Artificial intelligence (AI) data centers are popping up everywhere, to the point where it's becoming a source of political backlash. Yet while the debate over where to build data centers rages on, one thing remains very certain.
As AI data centers proliferate, electricity demand will continue to rise as well. Spun off from utilities giant Exelon in 2022, Constellation Energy Group provides electricity and natural gas to a variety of customers, including regulated utility companies. What makes Constellation especially interesting is its high exposure to nuclear power.

In the past, nuclear power has been a controversial industry, but in recent years, public and private stakeholders have recognized nuclear power's value as a scalable, low-carbon energy source, with nuclear power plants a viable "green" alternative to coal- and natural gas-fired power plants.

High grocery prices are creating downstream financial troubles for more Americans.
More than a quarter of US working-age adults who used credit cards to cover grocery costs last year struggled to repay their bills in full later on, either making only the minimum payment or missing that threshold entirely, new research from the Urban Institute has found.
And nearly 1 in 10 relied on "buy now, pay later" loans last year, with a third failing to make their payment, according to a survey of over 7,500 adults ages 18 to 64 conducted in December. Additionally, almost 1 in 20 turned to cash from a payday loan for food.
"Families might be having trouble affording groceries with the resources that they originally intended to purchase groceries with," Kassandra Martinchek, lead author of the report and senior research ***** ociate at the Urban Institute, told Yahoo Finance. "They're relying on credit or cash from payday loans or drawing down savings that they weren't intending to use for groceries."
