Professional Fighters League (PFL) continues its Summer Series later TONIGHT (Fri., July 31, 2026) as PFL New York goes down from inside UBS Arena in Elmont, New York. Headlining the event will be a Lightweight ***** le fight as division kingpin, Usman Nurmagomedov, defends the strap against Archie Colgan.
Nurmagomedov (21-0) is looking to lock down his second-ever ***** le defense, with his first coming against Alfie Davis earlier this year, submitting him via triangle choke at PFL Dubai (see it again here). As for Colgan, he is undefeated (13-0) and is 2-0 under PFL's banner. Prior to that, Colgan had racked up a record of 7-0 under Bellator MMA's banner.
Many readers check in before, during and after the fights to share their thoughts on all of the action, as the main card kicks off at 7 p.m. ET on the ESPN App and ESPN2. Feel free to leave a comment (or several) about the bouts and chat with all the other Maniacs during the show — it's always a lot of fun!
In the co-main event, striking superstar, Dakota Ditcheva, returns after a rare year-long layoff in an effort to improve on her mint record of (15-0, 10-0 PFL), taking on long-time combat veteran, Denise Kielholtz, in a women's Flyweight (cough, squash) match. The two were set to throw down at PFL Dubai earlier this year, but the bout had to be rescheduled after Ditcheva withdrew with an injury (more details here).

The Vikings' defense has enjoyed the presence of Harrison Smith ever since he was drafted back in 2012. The team enjoys his presence on and off the field, but at 37, some things are just not the same as they used to be. As a result, the unsigned veteran is sitting on the side waiting for something to change or to retire.
Despite the age factor and being unsigned, it isn't lessening the blow of his absence in training camp. Especially for Brian Flores, who is missing his defensive leader.
This week at the start of training camp, he discussed Smith's absence, saying, "I think collectively there's a sense of trying to, you know, bring what he brought to the table from a communication, leadership standpoint. You know, with him being absent or not absent, but not being here. I still haven't gotten over it..."
It still seems very possible that Smith could return after training camp wraps up, or is close enough to being wrapped up. We have seen veterans do this before, but there has been no smoke at all with Harrison Smith, so many people flying blind in this scenario.
Plenty of time left, but for now, Vikings fans will have to keep sitting on pins and needles.

Former Missouri forward Mark Mitchell plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, On3's Joe Tipton confirms. He went through the NBA Draft process this summer after exhausting his eligibility, however the NCAA's five-for-five rule and a preliminary injunction for the 2022 recruiting class have paved a path back to college basketball.
The 6-foot-9 forward was one of the top recruits in the 2022 class, ranked No. 23 nationally as part of Duke's talented recruiting class. After two seasons, he transferred closer to home, landing at Missouri.
He went on to become a two-time All-SEC selection for the Tigers. In the 2025-26 season, Mitchell averaged 18.3 points and 5.2 rebounds, shooting 38.8-percent from the three-point line and 54.7-percent from the field.
In total across four seasons, the 22-year old has averaged 13.2 points and 5.1 rebounds. He immediately becomes one of the top available players on the market as teams scramble to fill out their roster with a new pool of talent added back into the mix.

The San Francisco Giants will be withholding payment to Harrison Bader following a late-night scooter accident that worsened his left foot injury, the team announced Friday. Bader was announced as out for the season on Thursday.
In a statement attributed to president of baseball operations Buster Posey, the Giants said they were still looking into the accident that "delayed" Bader's return from plantar fasciitis, but would not be paying him until he's performing again:
"Over the weekend, Harrison Bader was involved in an accident that has delayed Harrison's prior treatment timeline for plantar fasciitis and, unfortunately, his return to the field. We are still investigating the circumstances of the accident, but will be suspending payment to Harrison until he is able to resume performing services for the Club."
Bader signed a two-year, $20.5 million contract with the Giants in free agency last offseason. It seems likely he will file a grievance against the Giants through the MLB Players ***** ociation, which happens pretty much any time a team unilaterally withholds money from a player.
Curiously, Giants manager told reporters on Thursday that he believed Bader's return "would have been a longshot to begin with" due to the plantar fasciitis. One would imagine that comment being of interest for the MLBPA.

After a sensational 32-point performance during Indiana's 105-95 win over Seattle on Tuesday, Caitlin Clark and the Fever (18-10) return to action tonight with another West Coast battle against the Portland Fire (11-17) at Moda Center in Portland, Ore.
During Tuesday's win against the Storm, Clark's 32 points on 9 for 14 shooting and seven **** ists marked the ninth time in the former Hawkeye's career that she finished with at least 30-plus points and five or more **** ists, which is now the most in Fever franchise history.
The Fever are riding a four-game winning streak, during which they have eclipsed 100 points in each win and hold a league-leading offensive pace of 95.8 points per game, but will face a Portland squad that has already taken down Indiana earlier this year behind a season-high 22 points from fellow Iowa legend Megan DiLeo.
As the Fever and Fire compete against each other in their third and final regular-season matchup, follow along for live scoring updates and highlights of Caitlin Clark's performance:
Despite scoring 32 points against the Storm on Tuesday, Caitlin Clark once again has appeared as probable on the Fever's day-before injury report.

IRC Section 1014 resets an inherited portfolio's cost basis to date-of-death value, legally erasing a lifetime of capital gains before heirs sell.
The step-up covers only taxable accounts such as stocks, ETFs, and real estate, while inherited IRAs and 401(k)s face ordinary income tax on every withdrawal.
Portfolios that declined before death step the basis down, permanently wiping built-in losses heirs could have captured through pre-death selling.
Are you ahead, or behind on retirement? SmartAsset's free tool can match you with a financial advisor in minutes to help you answer that today. Each advisor has been carefully vetted, and must act in your best interests. Don't waste another minute; learn more here.
If you've ever inherited a taxable brokerage account, mutual funds, or individual stocks from a parent, there is a rule sitting inside the tax code that can erase decades of capital gains overnight. It's called the step-up in basis, and it's the reason a daughter can inherit an $800,000 portfolio her mother built from a $50,000 seed in the 1980s, sell every share the next month, and owe the IRS nothing on the gain.

On July 21, the new S&P Pantera Digital ****** et (SPPDA) Index launched, and with it, investors everywhere now have a quick reference that tells them which cryptocurrencies are probably worth paying attention to. In short, the index's inclusion criteria call for only admitting an ****** et to the index if the protocol backing it earns real revenue. Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH), Solana (CRYPTO: SOL), and Hyperliquid (CRYPTO: HYPE) all cleared that bar, but Bitcoin and XRP did not.
The SPPDA stands to benefit Solana, Hyperliquid, and Ethereum, not to mention a couple of other coins that it tracks. Here's why.

Protocol revenue (also called chain revenue) is the fees users pay to a network to execute transactions. The index also explicitly seeks to not include those ****** ets that are speculative or uninvestable, like meme coins. Bitcoin, for its part, was excluded because its fees flow to its miners rather than holders, so it has no protocol revenue.

Technology stocks, once the market's biggest winners thanks to the artificial intelligence (AI) boom, have suddenly fallen out of favor on Wall Street. Even companies posting blockbuster earnings are finding it difficult to impress investors, as lofty expectations, growing fears of an AI bubble and concerns over whether the industry's massive spending spree will ultimately pay off have made the market far less forgiving. And Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is one of the latest casualties of this shift in sentiment.
Although the chipmaker has yet to report its next earnings results, investors have become increasingly cautious about AI-related financing deals and whether hyperscalers' enormous AI investments can deliver sustainable returns. As a result, AMD shares have fallen 17.2% from their June all-time high of $584.73. But while many investors have turned cautious, Wedbush Securities believes the market may be missing the bigger picture. The investment firm sees AMD's newly announced partnership with Core Scientific (CORZ) as a key step that could expand the company's AI reach beyond the largest cloud providers and fuel its long-term growth.

China's breakthrough in domestic chipmaking equipment sparked a major semiconductor sell-off, dragging down Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) despite strong fundamentals.
An announcement from a manufacturing facility in Shanghai on July 27, 2026, caused a severe summer downturn for the AI semiconductor market. State-supported Shanghai Aishengna reported the production of homegrown immersion deep ultraviolet (DUV) lithography systems for domestic fabrication facilities. It marks the first viable domestic substitute for technology ASML (NASDAQ:ASML) has exclusively controlled for twenty years, leading to an 8% decline in ASML's shares. But the loss did not stop here.
Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) fell over 8%, recording the steepest decline among its peers. The fall comes despite the core business metrics remaining steady. Merely a few months ago, the company reported a strong first-quarter performance, with earnings per share reaching $1.37, beating the consensus estimate of $1.29, and total revenue touching $10.25 billion against the forecasted $9.89 billion. Data-center revenue alone saw 57% year-over-year growth, reaching $5.8 billion. The 8% decline does not reflect a flaw in any of these fundamentals, because there were none.
Immersion DUV technology processes mature nodes. On the other hand, AMD's MI300 series and upcoming MI400/MI455X accelerators rely on TSMC's cutting-edge extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography. The related technology is exclusively supplied by ASML and goes beyond the current Chinese capabilities. Shanghai Aishengna's DUV equipment cannot produce these advanced accelerators. As such, their technology affects neither TSMC's supply chain nor AMD's pricing power. Additionally, Aishengna aims for just five units in 2026 compared to ASML's 130 in the same year. With EUV remaining inaccessible to domestic producers, investors' reaction is impulsive rather than based on an evaluation of the underlying technical reality.
The numbers remain solid even after the decline. Post-drop, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) is trading near a forward P/E of 60 – approximately two times the industry median of 30x. Its EV/EBITDA is in the upper 80s, and its PEG is above 1.2 as compared to Nvidia at 0.5. Alongside these figures, AMD retains its position as the more expensive, lower-margin, second-place vendor. When valuation multiples carry the weight of a stock's worth, a sudden market shock will hit the stocks with the smallest safety margins the hardest. The fault is not with the company, but the elevated purchase price already set by investors.

Shake Shack (NYSE: SHAK) reports second-quarter earnings on Wednesday, Aug. 5, but if you're long on Shake Shack, you should focus less on whether the company beats estimates and more on whether its growth story remains intact. So far, it does.
In Q1, revenue climbed 14.3% year over year to $366.7 million, while same-store sales increased 4.6%. The company also opened 17 company-operated restaurants and five licensed locations, continuing one of the fastest expansion plans in the fast-casual industry. I've personally seen quite a few at the travel plazas along the New York Thruway. They're becoming about as common as Chick-fil-A and Starbucks.

Expansion hasn't been an issue. But the challenge of profitability is very real. That shouldn't be taken lightly.
Higher beef costs, pre-opening expenses, and investments in technology and marketing helped push Shake Shack to a small net loss of $0.3 million in Q1, compared with net income of $4.5 million a year earlier. Those same pressures prompted management to lower its Q2 and full-year profit guidance. The company now expects Q2 revenue of $415 million to $420 million from a previous range of $424 million to $428 million. It also reduced its full-year adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) guidance to $225 million to $235 million, down from $230 million to $245 million.

But I believe the most significant number in Microsoft's fiscal fourth-quarter earnings report is $19.6 billion -- the free cash flow the company generated despite its massive capital expenditures on AI infrastructure.

Arete Research, an independent research firm, has upgraded Texas Instruments Incorporated (NASDAQ:TXN) to Buy from Neutral and lifted its price target to $405 from $303. This 34% raise in the PT comes days after the company posted a strong quarter – a surprise from an ***** og cyclical sector. Texas Instruments' Q2 revenue reached $5.46 billion, up 23% year-over-year, beating the $5.24 billion consensus. The company's EPS rose 52% year-over-year, beating the $1.92 Street estimate with $2.14. The most crucial piece of information tucked away in the report is the twofold growth in data center income.
According to an Arete Research ***** yst, the surging AI demand is anticipated to cause three years of ***** og semiconductor shortages. The ***** yst believes that Texas Instruments is well-positioned with respect to capacity, which should yield significant market share gains during this cycle. Arete projects revenue of approximately $34 billion with earnings of $17 per share by fiscal 2028. These structural tailwinds, discussed by the ***** yst, align with the company's operational and financial performance. Let's break them down.
The AI buildout faces one severe bottleneck – power shortage. And power is exactly what Texas Instruments, nicknamed by the market as "boring ***** og," sells. Hyperscalers are shifting toward 800-volt DC architectures to support denser GPU clusters. As a result, the need for ***** og content per rack increases. Texas Instruments serves this critical conversion layer through high-voltage gallium-nitride (GaN) power devices, real-time motor control, and sensing technology. Additionally, the company's March collaboration with Nvidia on humanoid robotics expands this portfolio. These demands fuel the quarterly ***** og revenue, which rose 26% to $4.37 billion. Texas Instruments is not relying on an industrial market recovery but is working on strengthening its position as a significant supplier for technology's most capital-intensive infrastructure cycle.
A more durable driver stems from timing rather than the AI narrative. Texas Instruments is completing a six-year, roughly $24 billion fab expansion that constrained free cash flow. Spending is dropping significantly. The 2026 capex projected at $2 billion to $3 billion stands in contrast to the comparatively high $4.55 billion in 2025. The fabs are complete, and revenue is recovering now, allowing management to anticipate free cash flow per share exceeding $8 in 2026, compared to $3.23 in 2025. Cash generation is tripling alongside declining capital expenditure, altering the investment profile investors have avoided during the build.

Bitcoin faced a fresh downside warning Thursday after economist and longtime crypto critic Peter Schiff said the selloff spreading through technology stocks could eventually reach the broader U.S. market and hit Bitcoin even harder.
"The entire U.S. stock market is overpriced, not just tech. I also expect a much bigger selloff in Bitcoin," Schiff wrote on X as technology names came under pressure.
His warning arrived while the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up more than 400 points despite heavier losses across the technology sector. Schiff viewed that split as temporary, arguing that broader indices had not yet absorbed the same correction already moving through higher-valued tech companies.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has created no shortage of stock market winners over the past two years. Even though the market has again become cautious about large-scale AI capex spending, that doesn't mean the long-term opportunities of AI have disappeared. In fact, market phases like these often create a disconnect between a company's share price and the progress of its underlying business.
Applied Digital (APLD), an AI infrastructure specialist, is a prime example. The company is expanding at an extraordinary pace, yet the stock has been whiplashing lately. APLD stock is down 26% in the past month, but, thanks to today's spike, is now back in the green by 13% year-to-date (YTD). The recent weakness appears to reflect a broader selloff in AI infrastructure stocks and risk-off market sentiment, rather than a deterioration in the company's financials, which remained robust in the most recent quarter.

Wondering how to get cheap life insurance? It may be easier than you think. A new study by LIMRA found that adults under age 30 overestimate the cost of life insurance by 10 to 12 times more than it actually costs.
The reality is, some healthy adults could get affordable life insurance for about what they'd spend on a streaming subscription each month. The trick lies in buying coverage while you're young, choosing term life insurance over permanent coverage when appropriate, and comparing quotes from several insurers before making a decision.
For most people, cheap life insurance comes down to a policy you can comfortably afford. And the amount you can comfortably afford might look different from your friend, coworker, or neighbor.
Affordable life insurance also comes down to you getting a good price for the coverage you actually need. For example, a $500,000 policy will almost always cost less than a $1 million policy. But if your family would need far more than $500,000 to replace your income, pay off a mortgage, or cover future expenses, choosing the lowest premium could leave them financially vulnerable.

Our ****** ysts just identified a stock with the potential to be the next Nvidia. Tell us how you invest and we'll show you why it's our #1 pick. Tap here.
Blackstone picked quite a week to sell Italian subs to the market, but maybe that's exactly the moment to take a breath, look around, and put some faith (and some capital) in the enduring magic of provolone and Danny DeVito.
Jersey Mike's priced its IPO at $23 a share Tuesday night, the same 24 hours the Nasdaq officially slid into correction and 3 Fed officials staged a mutiny against their own chair. Demand did not care. The deal went ten times oversubscribed, raised roughly $1 billion, and became the largest US consumer listing of the year, landing dead center of its $21-to-25 range.
That said, chatter around this deal earlier floated a valuation closer to $12 billion. It priced nearer $7.3 billion instead, a hair above the $8 billion Blackstone paid for majority control back in 2024. If you're tasting a little red wine vinegar in those numbers, you're on to something. Ten times oversubscribed, and the sandwich shop still landed below what its own private buyer thought it was worth 2 years ago. That's gotta make Steve Schwarzman feel a little stugatz about the whole deal.
JMKE shares are open to the public Thursday, but roughly 86% of the company's voting power stays exactly where it's lived since 2024: tucked inside the world's largest private equity shop.

Nvidia Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) is reportedly the previously unnamed customer behind Hut 8 Corp.'s (NASDAQ:HUT) Beacon Point data center leases in Texas. The Financial Times identified Nvidia as the tenant on July 28, citing five people familiar with the arrangement. Nvidia discussed its work with infrastructure partners but neither confirmed nor denied that it was the customer. Hut 8 has also not publicly named the tenant.
That attribution is important, but the contract math also needs equal attention. Hut 8 disclosed on July 20 that a second 15-year lease for 352 megawatts of IT capacity doubled the same investment-grade tenant's footprint to 704 MW. The two leases give the campus a $19.6 billion base-term contract value. The often-quoted $50.2 billion figure applies only if renewal options are exercised, so it is neither guaranteed revenue nor the present value of a firm $50 billion obligation.
If the FT's reporting is correct, Nvidia Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) is not relevant merely because Beacon Point will use AI chips. As the reported lease counterparty, it would support rent on 704 MW of Hut 8 capacity and could turn that capacity into a deployment channel for customers buying Nvidia systems. The FT said Nvidia could sublease the site to neocloud partners that buy its GPUs and sell AI computing services. No sublease has been announced. Nvidia's public response instead emphasized DSX, its architecture for designing, building and operating large AI factories with ecosystem partners.
Hut 8's link is contractual. Tenant rent underpins the $19.6 billion base-term value and the credit case for the project, while Hut 8 Corp. (NASDAQ:HUT) must supply the energized buildings on schedule. The company closed $4.25 billion of non-recourse, investment-grade senior secured notes for Beacon Point in June and expects the first Phase 2 data hall in the second quarter of 2028. It must still manage construction, tenant concentration, and the financing demands of a 1-gigawatt development.
Insider Monkey's database showed a small decline in hedge funds backing the stock. As of the end of the first quarter of 2026, 60 hedge-fund portfolios reported long positions in HUT at March 31, 2026, down from 64 at December 31, 2025.

"RWAs are coming into DeFi, and RWAs need our infrastructure to be able to have proper liquidity in our ****** e," he said.
A recent study, commissioned by 1inch, found that roughly 80% of liquidity on decentralized exchanges sits idle at any given time. That equates to around $1.6 billion that isn't earning anything.

Daily active users of its Instagram platform are rising at a level that is hard to imagine. Meta should abandon the AI sector, where it is already a loser, for it, and one where it cannot catch up. It should focus on its core business, which is doing better than expected.
Meta's top line growth rate remains impressive based on its size. In the quarter, revenue rose 28% to $60.8 billion, which keeps it on track to be one of the largest companies in America by that yardstick. Ad impressions were almost as strong and were up 14% year over year. These are the company's revenue engine.

CFOs and treasury professionals are looking for more transparency and visibility when it comes to their payment and treasury systems in an age where companies are increasingly required to conduct their business in real-time, with faster, more data-saturated systems.
For finance chiefs, incorporating new payment rails or solutions is a balancing act: On the one hand, they want to reduce manual work for their teams, which is increasingly a cause for friction, but on the other hand, "certainly, there's always concern about resiliency in their own systems," said Richard Dooley, VP of Product Commercialization at payments company The Clearing House.
"Less friction in their processes, whether it's the payment process, the liquidity visibility process, obviously their AP and AR processes, that's always a top-of-mind issue," Dooley told CFO Dive regarding how executives are considering innovation. "How do they get greater visibility into what they're doing, into what's happening?"
In Dooley's experience, when it comes to what treasurers want out of their payment rails, visibility is key, he said—more insight into the payment data can help companies identify when something is a timing problem, versus a problem of liquidity, for instance, he said.

Priscilla Presley may not step out often. But when she does, she knows how to make a statement.
On Thursday, July 30, the 81-year-old star let her radiant red locks serve as inspiration for her "Lady in Red" look as she stepped out for a luxurious evening at the Remus Lifestyle Night event in Mallorca, Spain.
For the rare appearance, Presley donned a long-sleeved scarlet maxi dress with a center-draped waist, which she paired with a matching leather crossbody bag. The star topped off the ensemble with a complementary beauty look, including her silky straight red tresses cascading down her shoulders, bright blush and a bold red lip.
Red seemed to be the color of the night as Presley posed with other famous faces such as Mischa Barton and Monica Cruz, who also sported bright red looks. The grandmother of Riley Keough also stopped for photos with luxury real estate organizer and the event's host, Marcel Remus.
The recent appearance marks the first time Presley has stepped out in public since a spring visit to Denmark. In March, Presley was a special guest at the country's Memphis Mansion, a dedicated Elvis museum where she gave a series of lectures. At the time, she posed for photos at the museum event in a sophisticated white suit.
