Citing threats, Red Sox radio play-by-play man Will Flemming apologized Monday for saying Boston pitcher Jovani Morán should drill catcher Austin Wells and start a fight with second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr., because he thinks Chisholm is a "bush league player" that "doesn't play the game the right way."
"Since I have been receiving nonstop calls and threats, I felt like it was important to hop back on here and say: My comments during yesterday's broadcast crossed a line. I'm emotional and a fan at heart and that bled into the broadcast," he posted on X,
"I meant no disrespect to the Yankees players or organization. I could and should have used different words. These rivalry games get me fired up; I apologize for letting the emotion of the moment get the best of me."
Knicks guard Josh Hart also posted on X: "Yo redsox your idiotic announcer got to go."
With the Yankees up 7-1 in a game they won 16-1, Chisholm stole a pair of bases to get to third base.
