Replicating the average $2,071 monthly Social Security check requires roughly $991,000 invested across FDLO and VYMI, blending to a 2.5% yield.
At a 6% annual return, reaching $991,000 takes about $2,144 per month over 20 years, dropping to $1,682 at an 8% return.
Place FDLO in a Roth IRA for tax-free growth and VYMI in a taxable account to capture its foreign tax credit.

Most people who talk about where to retire end up on the coast. Florida ranked first in net adjusted gross income gained through state-to-state moves in IRS migration data for 2022-2023, at $20.6 billion. The less talked-about option is a town built around a university.

Retiring to a lake town in Michigan or Wisconsin often raises questions about snow and winter conditions compared with a move to Florida. Winter is one factor in that comparison, but the rest of the picture gets mentioned less often: insurance, taxes, housing, and summers. This piece runs the numbers for a couple at full retirement age.

After an impressive breakthrough campaign at Bayern Munich, Lennart Karl has faced difficulties both on and off the pitch since the start of the 2026/27 season.
The 18-year-old has struggled to rediscover his best form after recovering from the muscle tear that ruled him out of the World Cup. At the same time, his attitude and behaviour off the pitch have recently come under significant criticism from Bayern supervisory board member Uli Hoeneß.
"I plan to have a serious word with him. He is a long way from being a superstar. Young players need humility," Hoeneß fumed in an interview with Welt am Sonntag.
"Comparisons with [Michael] Olise are clearly not doing him any good. There is still a world of difference between them."
According to Bild's head of football, Christian Falk, Karl's situation has put Liverpool, ******* nal and Manchester United on alert, with all three Premier League clubs monitoring developments should an opportunity to sign the 18-year-old arise in the future.

AC Milan and Inter Milan have jointly unveiled the first detailed designs for Generali Stadium. This new venue will become their shared home and a major feature of Milan's future sporting landscape.
The clubs introduced the project on 29 October, signalling a significant step towards replacing San Siro.
Under an agreement with insurance and ****** et management group Generali, the proposed stadium is planned as part of a broader urban redevelopment initiative.
According to announcements from both clubs, Generali Stadium will seat about 71,500 spectators, with architecture intended to evoke key elements of Milan's identity and draw on the city's design traditions and landmarks such as the Duomo di Milano.
Foster + Partners and MANICA are leading the architectural vision, combining extensive sports-venue experience with local design influences.

Speculation surrounding the long-term future of Ronald Araujo has intensified as his representative finally addressed the defender's mindset at Anfield. The Uruguayan international remains a central figure for the Premier League leaders despite persistent links to a continental exit.
The representative for Araujo has sought to clarify the Liverpool defender's current status following a wave of reports suggesting a potential move away from the Premier League. As one of the most consistent performers in the English top flight, Araujo has become a cornerstone of the defensive unit, leading to inevitable interest from across Europe's elite clubs looking to bolster their backlines.
However, despite the noise surrounding a possible departure, the message from his camp remains one of stability and contentment. His agent, Eduardo Crnjar, spoke about the player's current situation and how he feels about his surroundings in the North West of England. "Ronald is performing well , we're very happy with what he's offering, but it's still too early to talk about his future. He feels great, he's happy to be playing for Liverpool and helping the club and his teammates, as he's already said," Crnjar told WinWin Sports, as quoted by SPORT.
While the agent's comments provide some breathing room for the club, the broader context of the transfer market continues to loom over the situation. Several teams have been monitoring the Uruguayan's progress, aware that a defender of his calibre and age profile is a rare commodity in the modern game, especially given his proven track record in both La Liga and the Premier League.
The mention of a €55m valuation has frequently appeared in discussions regarding a potential transfer fee, a figure that many consider to be a bargain for a player of his international standing. Liverpool, however, would likely demand a significantly higher sum to even consider entering negotiations for a player who still has his best years ahead of him at the highest level of European football.

The iconic skyline of Milan is set for a historic transformation as the city's two footballing heavyweights prepare to move into a state-of-the-art new home. In a move that signals a massive shift in the financial landscape of Serie A, AC Milan and Inter have officially secured a record-breaking naming rights partnership with Italian insurance giant Generali for their future shared arena.
Milan and Inter have agreed a staggering 20-year naming rights contract with Generali, which ESPN reports is worth €650 million (£545m/$725m). The new 71,500-capacity venue will be officially known as the Generali Stadium, effectively replacing the historic San Siro. The clubs purchased the required land from the city last November for €197m, paving the way for the eventual demolition of their legendary current home.
Construction is targeted to begin in 2028, with the first matches scheduled for the 2031-32 campaign, pending necessary approvals. Spearheaded by respective ownership groups RedBird Capital Partners and Oaktree, the stadium project also anchors a wider urban regeneration plan featuring new retail, leisure, and green ******* es.
The massive financial commitment eclipses the $700m agreement struck by Crypto.com in 2021 for the Los Angeles arena shared by the Lakers and Kings. It stands as a monumental boost for the two Serie A giants as they look to modernise and bridge the matchday revenue gap with Europe's elite.
A new symbol for Milano.
A new home for future generations of fans.

Arsenal are preparing to launch negotiations over an extended deal for first-choice goalkeeper David Raya despite the Spaniard recently admitting he would like to play in his homeland one day. Meanwhile, neither Barcelona nor Real Madrid are expected to make an imminent move for the 31-year-old shot-stopper in upcoming transfer windows.
According to Football Insider, the north London hierarchy want to tie their Spanish custodian down beyond his current 2028 expiration date to fend off any future interest from La Liga. Speculation linking him with Spain's two biggest clubs emerged after he told Spanish media last week that he hopes to play in his native top flight eventually. However, the goalkeeper insisted in the same interview that he remains content at the Emirates Stadium.
Having silenced initial sceptics following his move from Brentford to establish himself as the Premier League's standout goalkeeper in recent seasons, Raya registered his fifth clean sheet in eight top-flight outings against Everton last weekend before narrowly losing out on Monday's Yashin Trophy to international team-mate Unai Simon.
Explaining why a switch to Spain is unlikely soon on the Transfer Insider podcast, journalist Pete O'Rourke said: "If he were to leave ******* nal, there's no immediate opening for one of the big boys in Spain right now as well. Barcelona have got Joan Garcia, and it looks like Courtois is going to sign a new contract at Real Madrid as well, so I don't see any opening for David Raya right now.
"The player is happy at ******* nal, and obviously ******* nal are very happy with him, so I think any potential move back to his native Spain will be probably on the back burner for a while just yet."

Braves make no-brainer $24M Ronald Acuna Jr., Ozzie Albies decision to keep core intact for 2027 originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Atlanta Braves have another important offseason ahead of them and need to navigate it correctly, as there are still several areas where the team needs to improve. Not only will they have free agency decisions to make, but they will also need to determine which players to bring back before allowing others to test the market.
Atlanta didn't end the season the way it wanted to, losing two consecutive home games to the Los Angeles Dodgers. One of the players who had the toughest time was Ronald Acuña Jr., who was booed by fans. Despite all of that, he made it clear that he wanted to stay in Atlanta.
"I want to stay here, that hasn't changed. But I can't control that," Acuña told the media.
The futures of Ozzie Albies and Acuña are in the Braves' hands, as the team recently had to make decisions on both players. Each had a club option for 2027, and Sports Illustrated's Harrison Smajovits believed exercising them should be an easy decision for Atlanta.

When Jocelin Ta-Bi arrived at Sunderland during the January 2026 transfer window, he arrived amid a fanfare involving rival clubs and the political allegiances of his parent side, Maccabi Netanya, and their ties to current world events. Celtic had reportedly agreed a fee for the young Ivory Coast winger on the recommendation of Martin O'Neill, only to see the club stall over supposed issues with his medical, alongside fan backlash over the recipient of the transfer funds.
Sunderland, knowing they could afford to give Ta-Bi time to recover from his injury without the need for an immediate impact, swooped in at the eleventh hour to secure Jocelin on a four-and-a-half-year deal, labelling him as a true 'one for the future'. A reported fee of £3.5m (€4.0m) was paid for the youngster in what felt like Sunderland's first real draft-and-stash signing of the Premier League era – players who may feature very little in the first team but could potentially go on to turn the club a profit down the line, supporting their sustainable business model.
Fast forward to November 2026 and, after several loan moves away broke down and a work permit was denied for Sunderland's pre-season tour, Jocelin Ta-Bi has found himself on the lips of many football pundits after putting in an eye-watering display in Sunderland's Carabao Cup fourth-round tie against Brentford.
So the question we're all asking is: what did the club see in Jocelin back in January, and why does he have such a unique skill set that made us move so early for him?

The NFL, the most parity-driven major sports league, feels even more wide open this year. Even the perceived powerhouses entering the season and teams with the best records have flaws that are already being picked at by opponents.
Betting markets and bettors are keeping plenty of teams alive. As of Thursday evening, FanDuel had 11 NFC teams with +164 or shorter odds to make the playoffs, and seven teams with +1100 odds or shorter to win the Super Bowl. Thirteen teams were at +2500 or shorter to hoist the Lombardi Trophy in February.
This open competition leads to opportunity. And opportunity leads to action. Even when the Nov. 10 trade deadline was still a ways away, teams started to address their weaknesses. The Dallas Cowboys added Joey Porter Jr., the Baltimore Ravens nabbed Cam Jurgens. Now with the deadline growing closer, NFL teams have decided to strike. First, Quenton Nelson was shipped off to the Seattle Seahawks from the sinking ship known as the Indianapolis Colts. Soon after, DeForest Buckner returned to the San Francisco 49ers to bolster their defensive front.
Then, on Thursday, the Chicago Bears fired a shot across the bow to the rest of the NFC and NFL, trading two future first-round draft picks and a fourth-rounder to the Tennessee ****** ans for defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons and a 2028 fifth-round selection.
Now that's some real action for a trade deadline!

Steve Kerr's refusal to mortgage the Warriors' future for Stephen Curry sparked a firestorm, and DeMarcus Cousins had the sharpest rebuttal yet. Kerr's defense of the franchise's future-first approach collided with an uncomfortable reality: Curry had just dropped 44 points to beat Minnesota, proving his championship window remains wide open.
Appearing at Gil's Arena, DeMarcus Cousins argued with Gilbert Arenas over Kerr's remarks, passionately arguing that if the Warriors are unwilling to push all their chips to the center of the table while Curry is still performing at a superstar level, the team owes it to the franchise icon to trade him to a legitimate contender. His argument hinged on the logical contradiction that the Warriors cannot simultaneously claim that Curry has a championship window and refuse to invest in it.
"So why would you mention championship window with Steph if you're not willing?" Cousins, a former Warriors player himself, challenged.
When Arenas countered that Steph Curry is 38 and no longer the foundational piece to build a five-year plan around, Boogie shut down the notion.
The tension between championship windows and roster construction just reached a boiling point. Subscribe to stay on top of the NBA's biggest debates and power player clashes.

On Thursday, the Houston Comets unveiled a new brand identity. According to a team announcement, the release "represents a defining moment in the return of one of the most iconic franchises in women's sports."
Revealed during a celebration at POST Houston, the new identity marks the beginning of the Comets' next chapter. The evening brought together Comets legends, fans, partners, and community leaders for a first look at the franchise's new era, and it all culminated with the unveiling of the team's new logo.
As the Comets prepare to return to the court in 2027, the brand identity honors the franchise's historic championship legacy while also introducing a bold, modern look for a new generation of fans.
One of the WNBA's original eight franchises, the Comets established the league's first dynasty by winning four consecutive championships from 1997 through 2000. The brand identity pays homage to that foundation while looking ahead to the new era of the team and its connection to its fans.
"This is a landmark moment for the Comets, for Houston, and for the continued growth of women's sports," said Gretchen Sheirr, president of business operations for the Houston Rockets and Comets. "This franchise helped define the early years of the WNBA, and we are incredibly proud to honor that championship history while building something modern, bold, and distinctly Houston for the future."

NEW YORK -- The Brooklyn Nets are just four games into their 2026-27 NBA season that they hope will be better than what they put forth during the 2025-26 campaign record-wise. Brooklyn has been trying to correct enough of their issues to hopefully win their first game of the season sooner than later, but the Nets made sure to take care of business with some of their youngest players.
The Nets announced on Thursday that they exercised the third-year team options for their entire 2025 NBA Draft class heading into Friday's NBA Cup game against the visiting Detroit Pistons. Brooklyn selected five players in the 2025 draft: guard Egor Demin, guard Nolan Traore, forward Drake Powell, guard Ben Saraf, and forward Danny Wolf and now, the quintet is under contract for the 2027-28 season.
"We brought them in for a reason. Obviously, picking up options is part of the management, but [it's] the belief on development and the type of people that we bring in," Fernandez said after Thursday's practice about the franchise's announcement. Brooklyn exercising the team options on the entire class was interesting given that only Demin and Traore have been seeing regular rotation minutes at this point in the season.
"We've been together for a little over a year and we believe that every single one of them has a future in this league. Everybody's got different paths to get there and that's okay. But, so far, I think that just proves that we believe in the process," Fernandez continued. While Demin and Traore have proven enough to see NBA minutes on a daily basis, Powell, Saraf, and Wolf will have to continue doing the work in the G League and in practice.
Demin will be out of action for the next week while he rehabs from a right leg bone bruise that he suffered in Tuesday's 125-124 overtime loss to the Boston Celtics, but Traore could just be hitting his stride. Traore entered the starting lineup for Tuesday's matchup against the Celtics and if he continues to produce, he and Demin could be starting together once the former BYU Cougar returns. With that being said, the entire "Flatbush Five" will be in Brooklyn next season.

NBA rumors: 2 Clippers named as Thunder trade targets in addition to Herb Jones, Ty Jerome appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
After the Oklahoma City Thunder's first loss of the season in a 120-96 blowout to the Dallas Mavericks, will GM Sam Presti make a move for either New Orleans Pelicans' Herb Jones or Memphis Grizzlies' Ty Jerome sooner rather than later? The injuries continue to stack up for the Thunder, as Alex Caruso and Chet Holmgren were both out in addition to Jalen Williams and Cason Wallace's setbacks ahead of Wednesday's game against the Mavericks.
For a team like the LA Clippers, who lost first-round picks for the next five seasons, Derrick Jones Jr. and Kris Dunn have also been mentioned as potential trade targets for Presti, who has more future firsts than any other GM in the NBA. While the Thunder are in no rush to make a trade, Presti will most likely do so at some point before this year's deadline, as ClutchPoints' Brett Siegel noted, per Clutch Scoops.
"The Thunder are going to make at least one trade. That's a given," Siegel said. "We know that Sam Presti is always very adventagous on the trade market. We didn't think that they were going to make a trade last season. And then, Jared McCain fell in their lap because they leveraged some draft picks — first-round and second-round picks — that we're going to be of use to them. We could see something similar happen this year, where it's not going to be a big splashy name; a $20-plus million guy.

Oct. 29—VERMILLION, S.D. — Long before Austyn Modrzewski became the starting quarterback at the University of South Dakota, he was a first grader in Littleton, Colorado, who had already discovered something special about throwing a football.
He initially lined up at running back when he started playing tackle football. But it did not take long for those around him to recognize that the ball belonged in his hands, and preferably in the air. Even at that age, Modrzewski was doing something rare for a young player in his area: leading an offense that could throw the football.
By second grade, he was training specifically to play quarterback. Sunday mornings and several days throughout the week became practices for his mechanics, improving his footwork and developing a position that had already become his passion. By third grade, he was learning to read defenses.
Football was never simply something Modrzewski played. It was something he worked to understand. He competed across state lines, trained year-round and developed an appreciation for the quarterback position long before most children his age had even thought about their athletic futures.
"I always wanted to be a running growing up back because they always get the ball," Austyn Modrzewski said earlier this season. "And in the first practice, we didn't have a quarterback so I kind of just stepped up and started throwing some ****** . I had fun doing it, and I was like, 'I'm not half bad at throwing.'"

When left tackle Trevor Goosby went down with a torn patella tendon in the first quarter of last Saturday's win over the Ole Miss Rebels, the Texas Longhorns moved into a future without their All-American protecting the blind side of quarterback Arch Manning.
Taking over for Goosby? Another senior in 6'6, 339-pound Andre Cojoe, who was competing for the starting right tackle job in preseason camp last year before suffering a season-ending knee injury.
Entering the game, Cojoe had only played 56 career snaps for the Longhorns after arriving as an early enrollee in the 2022 recruiting class just before he turned 17. Ranked outside the top 100 prospects in Texas, Cojoe didn't face high expectations when he got to the Forty Acres, but the athleticism he possessed at his size made him an intriguing long-term developmental prospect.
Now Cojoe has had the time to develop and the left tackle position will be his for the remainder of the season unless head coach Steve Sarkisian and offensive line coach Kyle Flood make the unexpected decision to flip Cojoe to the right side and move senior Melvin Siani back to the left tackle position he occupied last season at Wake Forest.
But that move sacrifices the offensive line's continuity the staff was able to maintain when Goosby missed multiple weeks of practice while recovering from a bone bruise in his knee sustained during preseason camp.

It has been a while since Penn State celebrated a win on the football field. If you have lost track, Penn State's last win was over a month ago, with a Week 3 rout of Buffalo. The 2026 season, the first under head coach Matt Campbell, has certainly not gone according to plan in Happy Valley, and any threat of making a push for the College Football Playoff has long been put to rest. But the Nittany Lions are coming off a bye week with five games remaining in the season. There is still time to finish this transitionary season with some momentum for the future. First up after the bye week is a home game against Purdue, a team that has taken some steps forward this season under head coach Barry Odom.
Here are our final score and player of the game predictions for Penn State's Week 9 game against Purdue, along with some brief thoughts on the matchup.
Maybe it is hopeless optimism, but I think Penn State's offense looks a bit more consistent an formiudable this week. The bye week may have come at a good time for Penn State, as Rocco Bcht could potentially be getting his top playmaker back on the field with the reported return of wide receiver Koby Howard trending toward reality. Penn State will need the offense to be in rhythm, because Purdue is loaded with offensive firepower through the air and on the ground. The Nittany Lions will have a big test in slowing down Purdue's Fame Ijeboi, who has had his ups and downs this season. Will it be pretty? Not likely. Will it go down to the wire? Perhaps. Will Penn State's losing streak come to an end? Sure. Why not?
Final score prediction: Penn State 30, Purdue 27
Player of the game pick: Koby Howard, Penn State wide receiver

Auburn is 4-3, but it has already been a great first season under Alex Golesh. There's hope for the future, considering the offense hasn't even begun to get rolling as expected. With a stunning win over Georgia, though, the fan base got a glimpse of what might be coming next year.

Now the Tigers can do some real damage. Hand Ole Miss its third loss, and all of a sudden the SEC will have a hard time putting more than a few teams in the College Football Playoff.

The Rebels have a brutal finishing kick, but after a tough 27-24 loss at Texas, dealing with Auburn is dangerous enough.
Ole Miss doesn't get any chance to rest with Georgia up next and a trip to Oklahoma to follow.
Auburn gets a bit of a break with Arkansas coming to The Plains next, followed by a date against the Kamario Taylor-less Mississippi State team. And then it's Samford to tune up for the showdown against Alabama.
Ole Miss won the last two in the surprisingly short series – the two have only played 48 times. Auburn leads 35-13.

Kim Kardashian was left "so mad" after her years-old feud with Paris Hilton was recently revived, her biographer has revealed.
The reality TV star's biographer shared that Kim was left fuming after she learned Paris Hilton had ghosted him.
Jonathan Van Meter, author of Kim's upcoming authorised biography Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future, revealed he had tried several times to schedule an interview with Kim's former best friend, but was repeatedly left hanging.
"Kim was so mad when I told her," Jonathan told The Hollywood Reporter of Paris's multiple cancellations. "It seemed to stir up some ancient irritation between them. The creation turning on the creator."
Paris, 45, famously introduced Kim, 46, to the world via her reality series The Simple Life.
The formerly close friends had a falling out after Kim's star ascended with the success of her own reality TV series, Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

Data centers have emerged as a national issue during this midterm election cycle, and candidates for the House and Senate have seized on it in their campaigns.
But state and local officials actually have more sway over data center construction and energy infrastructure, so the winners of lower-profile races may hold the economy's future in their hands.
Hyperscalers have been spending hundreds of billions of dollars a year, with forecasts for 2027 topping $1 trillion. JPMorgan has estimated AI-related investment was responsible for about one-fifth of GDP growth over the past year. ******* ysts at ING believe AI will account for a third of growth in 2026.
With Election Day just over a week away and early voting already in full swing in many states, expectations for big Democratic gains could weigh on the stock market, which has sold off in recent days on fears the AI boom will go bust.
If there is a further stock slump, it will be because a "blue wave" at the state and local levels will usher in lawmakers opposed to data centers, Thierry Wizman, global FX and rates strategist at Macquarie, said in a note on Monday.

As per an author, Queen Camilla and Prince William's meeting has triggered an unforeseen development. The news emerges amid royal family tensions heightened since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's UK return. The Duke of Sussex is now in the headlines after expressing his wish to reconcile with the royal family.
Queen Camilla's first meeting with Prince William reportedly left her so flustered that she instantly needed a gin and tonic. The claim comes from a royal biographer who detailed the seemingly awkward context of their first introduction.
In her biography "Queen Consort: The Life of Queen Camilla," author Penny Junor revisited the meeting. She wrote that the Queen Consort had even offered to step out of the house to avoid causing William any discomfort.
King Charles reportedly brushed off her worries, calling them "ridiculous," and went ahead with plans for her to meet his son after school. They scheduled the introduction for around 7 pm. But the royal heir showed up four hours ahead of time, giving her far less time to get ready than she had expected.
Rather than delaying the moment, Charles apparently urged them to face the unease head-on. However, after spending around 30 minutes with her future stepson, the former ***** ss of Cornwall reportedly came out of the meeting and said, "I need a gin and tonic."

The future King has appeared in an exclusive interview with BBC Breakfast to share his personal admiration for Sir Kevin, who recently completed seven ultra marathons in seven days.
Sir Kevin took part in the extreme endurance challenge to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) charities following the death of his best friend and former rugby team-mate, Rob Burrow from the condition in 2024.
"I think frankly he should have been Sir Kevin years ago," said Prince William.

Texas A&M's 2026 season woes have made the Aggies somewhat unwatchable this fall, coming off last Saturday's 27-6 road loss to Missouri, while starting quarterback Marcel Reed's surprising regression under first-year OC Holmon Wiggins and a shaky offensive line have resulted in the Aggies not scoring a touchdown against Missouri and LSU.
In today's college football landscape of immediate gratification, bad seasons simply aren't allowed anymore, as third-year coach Mike Elko has come under intense scrutiny from the fan base after leading the Aggies to their first College Football Playoff appearance last season.
Still, Elko's ability to recruit and land elite high school talent has built the No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class, which includes a nation-high six five-star commits, including the top-ranked offensive lineman Mark Matthews and elite safety duo Kamarui Dorsey and JayQuan Snell.
While four-star linebacker commit Aston Whiteside is visiting Miami this weekend, the rest of A&M's 2027 cycle has stayed intact, and according to 247Sports (subscription required) insider Zach Blostein, Elko and his staff are looking to continue their recruiting dominance in the Sunshine State, as former 2027 four-star CB Loia Valade reclassified to the 2026 class and is currently on the roster.
Texas A&M reportedly fielded offers to Florida-based three-star cornerback Daveon Belhomme and three-star safety and UConn commit Alan Blackshere, looking to add more future depth alongside Kamarui Dorsey, JayQuan Snell, and five-star cornerback Raylaun Henry.
