An XRP holder proposed raising XRP Ledger fees 100x, but even that hike would cost only $0.0015 per transaction, which amounts to a negligible dent across 63 billion circulating tokens.
David Schwartz called higher fees 'truly bizarre,' warning they would drive away payment processors and undermine XRP Ledger's core advantage of cheap, fast settlement.
Higher fees would force active users to subsidize passive holders, and any fee change requires validator approval, which is a threshold this proposal hasn't reached.
Building a portfolio and living off one are two completely different skills, and almost ***** ody teaches the second. This problem is what The Definitive Guide to Retirement Income helps, and it is free today. Read more here. (Sponsor)
Recently, an XRP (CRYPTO:XRP) holder made a bold proposal on X, suggesting that XRP Ledger fees be raised 10 to 100 times to enable a larger XRP burn with each transaction. Burning tokens reduces the total supply, a move many holders support because it could increase the value of their remaining tokens.

Ex-OL mocks viral Sonny Styles video after Commanders LB trucks Saquon Barkley for sack appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Washington Commanders were inconsistent on offense during Sunday's 24-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, just as many anticipated, but fans got to see one player exceed the expectations that a large portion of the public had set for him. After getting roasted for a perceived lack of strength during preseason play, which was captured via video, rookie linebacker Sonny Styles displayed eye-catching power in Philly.
The former Ohio State star bowled over 2024 Offensive Player of the Year Saquon Barkley before sacking Super Bowl 59 MVP Jalen Hurts. Retired offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz was quick to taunt the doubters following the thunderous play.
"So maybe that preseason week 1 'film review' mocking Styles wasn't indicative of how he might play in the regular season," the NFL ******* yst and podcast host quipped.

TV's biggest night has brought us some of the most breathtaking and unique jewelry moments, from Zendaya's 17-carat diamond necklace to Sofia Vergara's 100-carat drop earrings.
In honor of the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards, InStyle gathered the most unforgettable jewelry moments to grace the red carpet through the years.
When it comes to carat count, the term "less is more" no longer applies—just ask the stars who have graced the Emmys red carpet through the decades. Just last year, Sydney Sweeney sparkled in over 175 carats of diamonds from Lorraine Schwartz Jewelry. In 2024, the center stone alone in Selena Gomez's Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany necklace weighed in at a whopping 35 carats.
Of course, size isn't the only defining factor of a stunning jewelry moment—uniqueness is what makes a piece truly unforgettable. Take Kelly Osbourne's $250,000 manicure, which is still making waves over a decade later. Her polish, from luxury jeweler Azature, contained a cool 267 carats worth of black diamonds, as reported by Today. Or, maybe Billy Porter's 2021 look is more your style; he appeared in a peacock-like necklace dripping with nearly 50 carats of diamonds and over 34 carats of emeralds, according to Page Six.
In anticipation of the blinding jewelry moments that are sure to stun at tonight's 78th Primetime Emmy Awards, join us for a look back at the 15 most extravagant jewelry moments in Emmys history.

The Cleveland Browns will sport a new defensive look when they take the field on Sunday for their Week 1 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Some of those changes are by design: defensive end Jared Verse replaces Myles Garrett, linebacker Quincy Williams replaces Devin Bush, and defensive coordinator Mike Rutenberg takes over for Jim Schwartz.
There were some unexpected changes, however, most notably along the defensive line, after defensive end Alex Wright, who was expected to be a starter, was lost for the season to a torn Achilles tendon.
That led general manager Andrew Berry to bring in veterans Sam Williams and Derek Barnett, and Rutenberg to experiment with Michael Hall Jr. at defensive end.
Rutenberg had his weekly press conference on Thursday and addressed several topics. Here are four takeaways from what he had to say.

WASHINGTON, Sept 3 (Reuters) - U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. asked his new CDC director to remove a reference to two Pennsylvania deaths from the agency's online measles tally after he questioned whether the disease contributed to the fatalities, three sources familiar with the situation said.
Kennedy's request came after CDC staffers had already accepted the state's characterization of the deaths as linked to measles, a Pennsylvania official said.
Despite that, Erica Schwartz, the recently appointed director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, agreed with Kennedy's directive and implemented it without objection, said the three sources familiar with the matter, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The move followed a heated exchange on social media between Kennedy, a long-time anti-vaccine activist appointed by President Donald Trump, and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, a Democrat. The two officials accused each other of politicizing the outbreak in Pennsylvania, the latest state to grapple with a resurgence of measles since the Trump administration took office.

USA TODAY Sports ranks the Detroit Lions' defense No. 19 entering the 2026 season. Defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard's unit has fallen nine spots since USA TODAY's June ranking that slated the Lions No. 10.
A major concern for Detroit is its injury-plagued secondary.
The Lions released former first-round cornerback Terrion Arnold earlier this offseason. Starting safeties Kerby Joseph and Brian Branch will miss at least four games as both were placed on the reserve/physically unable to perform list to begin the 2026 season.
Joseph, a first-team All-Pro and the NFL's interceptions leader in 2024, continues to deal with a degenerative knee issue that limited him to six games in 2025. Meanwhile, Branch is recovering from a torn Achilles that he suffered in December. Sheppard will be leaning on the front seven to take pressure off its secondary in the meantime.
NFL reporter Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz had this to say about the Lions' defense:

"Darla is interested in tourism to support the city, and as mayor, I'm interested in bringing people to Galesburg and supporting a game I love," Schwartzman said. "There is nothing better than a tournament in your backyard."
Players will compete across three divisions determined by skill, rating and lexicon. Each participant will play seven matches during the tournament's opening round. The top eight finishers in each division will advance to the next round of competition before the top four move on to the championship showdown.

Last week, Denver Broncos head coach went scorched earth on FS1's Geoff Schwartz for his Bo Nix take on First Things First. After a few days of reflection, Payton addressed the situation once and for all after the Broncos' final preseason game, a win over the Minnesota Vikings on Friday night.
"That was crazy, wasn't it?" Payton said of the viral exchange. "I can't help myself, though. When I see something like that, I'm sorry. It's just, I have a pause and then it's like, 'What are you watching?' Just watch the tape."
Payton defended Nix once again, something he has found himself doing often since first drafting Nix in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft. "Everything was the opposite of what he was saying and the worst part was he played at Oregon," Payton said of Schwartz.
Payton compared Schwartz's take with the first time he ever saw former Vikings stars Percy Harvin and Adrian Peterson: It's completely different to see a player in-person than it is to watch a player on tape from the comfort of your home. Payton took one last shot at Schwartz in his post-game remarks. "You've got the basement podcast with the beer logo and I just couldn't help myself with that one," Payton said. "It was silly."
You can see Payton's full comments on the situation below.

DENVER — Denver Broncos' head coach Sean Payton always has Bo Nix's back.
That was on full display for the world to see Thursday morning at 11:15 a.m. after Fox Sports ****** yst Geoff Schwartz gave his opinion on Nix.
"I do think he just is what he is at this point. He looks like the same quarterback he was in college," Schwartz said on Fox Sports, which circulated on X. "He's consistent. He's not gonna make mistakes. But he's not gonna push the ball down the field all that often."
Nix's head coach clearly disagreed, responding on Thursday morning by taking a simple dig at Schwartz, saying, "Always easy to tell who works at it and who doesn't."
Following the Broncos' 34-6 preseason beatdown of the Minnesota Vikings, Payton expanded on his original Tweet.

Patrick Mahomes is expected to start the Kansas City Chiefs' season opener against the Denver Broncos, but an NFL **** yst has warned that the biggest challenge may not be his fitness. It could be whether Mahomes can fully trust his knee again.
Mahomes suffered torn ACL and LCL in his left knee during the Chiefs' Week 15 defeat to the Los Angeles Chargers last December, ending Kansas City's playoff hopes. He underwent surgery soon after and has spent the offseason working towards a Week 1 return.
The quarterback was kept out of Kansas City's first two pre-season games as a precaution, but he has since returned to full football activities and has not missed a training camp practice.

Speaking on First Things First, NFL **** yst Geoff Schwartz identified confidence as the biggest concern for Mahomes following such a serious injury.

San Francisco 49ers have come under scrutiny from former NFL offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz, who criticised the team's drafting strategy and questioned the lack of impact players on the current roster.
The 49ers finished the 2025 regular season with a 12-5 record, placing third in the NFC West. They went 1-1 in the playoffs before falling in the Divisional Round.
However, injuries have been a recurring issue for the team, while their drafting strategy has also come under scrutiny.

During his appearance on "First Things First" on Thursday, Schwartz highlighted what he believes has gone wrong with the 49ers and pointed to their struggles with first-round picks.

Drew Allar shined in his first preseason games with the Pittsburgh Steelers following an up-and-down journey at Penn State. The third-round quarterback led touchdown drives on each of his first three possessions in a Steelers uniform and completed 10-of-13 passes for 153 yards, two passing touchdowns, and a rushing score. It was a good first impression for Allar, who looked comfortable in the pocket and didn't miss the easy throws he was knocked for in college.
Despite the strong first game, albeit the preseason, it didn't make former NFL offensive lineman and current FOX ******* yst Geoff Schwartz more optimistic that he is going to be the Steelers' next franchise quarterback.
"Drew Allar is unlikely to get a chance to be good in the NFL because he's not going to get an opportunity to play," Schwartz said via FOX Sports Radio. "If he's the third-string guy, when is he ever gonna play?"
Aaron Rodgers is solidified as the 2026 starting quarterback, and Will Howard continues to battle Mason Rudolph for the backup spot.
Allar is surely going to make the roster, but it doesn't appear that he's in play to be QB2. The lack of reps could hurt Allar's chances of proving to the Steelers that he's their guy moving forward, and Schwartz sees the Steelers picking a quarterback in 2027.

Aug 10 (Reuters) - Charl Schwartzel found an unusual hazard in the final round at LIV Golf Bedminster on Sunday when a fish appeared to swallow his ball after it rolled into the water beside the seventh green.
The South African's tee shot at the 134-yard, par-three hole rolled off the putting surface and settled in the pond, where TV footage showed the ball being ******* ed from beneath the water.
"Have you ever seen anything like this?" LIV Golf wrote in a social media post accompanying video of the incident.
The former Masters champion had to take a one-stroke penalty and settled for a bogey on the hole. He finished two-over par at the tournament, which was won by Chilean Joaquin Niemann.

The San Francisco 49ers worked out Ogbo Okoronkwo this past Sunday. On Wednesday morning, the team officially reunited Okoronkwo with Raheem Morris.
The former fifth-round pick out of the 2018 NFL Draft has played with some of the best defensive coordinators in the NFL, including Morris, DeMeco Ryans, Jim Schwartz, and Vic Fangio.
Okoronkwo, 31, has been a backup for most of his career. He played sparingly under Morris in the one year they spent together with the Rams. Okoronkwo actually played more in Los Angeles once Morris left. From the 2022 to 2024 seasons, he played around 400 snaps per season.
To date, Okoronkwo's best year came with the Texans in 2022, where he generated a 18.5% pressure rate, had 33 stops, and 5 sacks.
The 49ers are in need of edge rush help after losing a potential depth piece in Mikail Kamara to a torn ACL, Keion White with an adductor injury, and Cameron Sample to a knee injury. Mykel Williams remains on the active/PUP List, while Nick Bosa continues to work his way up to participating in 11-on-11 drills.

For the Cleveland Browns and Milwaukee Bucks, Haslam's teams, the trades reset their rosters and turn their attention toward the future.
According to a report, Haslam pushed for the package from the Miami Heat over one from the Boston Celtics, due to his experience with Garrett, which led to this humorous "Anthony Schwartz caused the Garrett and Antetokounmpo trades."
Both big trades were similar. The Browns acquired DE Jared Verse and three draft picks, while the Bucks added Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, four draft picks, and one pick swap.
According to Haslam, he believes it is more difficult to rebuild in the NBA than the NFL:
Cleveland fans are aware that Haslam's Browns have made the playoffs just twice, their only two seasons with a winning record during his ownership tenure, and his 14-year record as owner is 78-1501-1. If rebuilding is more difficult for Haslam in the NBA, we send our condolences to the fine fans in Milwaukee for what their process might look like.

New York Giants fans, take a deep breath and allow yourselves a moment. Those short videos from the first day of training camp at The Greenbrier are pure fuel for the imagination.
Malik Nabers and Odell Beckham Jr. working side-by-side in individual drills, flying off the line, cutting with purpose, and hauling in passes under that West Virginia sun felt like a scene fans have been waiting years to see.
Charlotte Carroll of The Athletic captured the two of them moving in near-unison, while Paul Schwartz of the New York Post offered another angle of the same electric work.
Art Stapleton of NorthJersey.com and USA TODAY said it best with a simple, perfect post: "It's OK to dream, Giants fans."
And dream they are.

In XRP news today, David Schwartz, Ripple's CTO Emeritus and co-creator of the XRP Ledger, publicly admitted on July 20, 2026 that he regrets selling XRP at $0.10 and 40,000 ETH at roughly $1.05 each – but he was clear that neither sale reflected a loss of conviction in crypto. Both were products of a rules-based risk-management pact he had made with his wife years earlier.
The admission landed on X under his longtime handle JoelKatz, after another user raised his history of selling XRP at $0.10 and Ethereum near $1.
With XRP price trading around $1.13 and ETH price near $1,927 at the time of the article's publication, according to multiple price feeds, the scale of the missed upside is not hard to calculate.
The central tension this story unpacks: even one of crypto's most technically sophisticated insiders – a man who helped build XRP from the ground up – systematically sold ***** ets that later generated life-changing returns, and he did it on purpose.
Schwartz's explanation centers on an agreement he reached with his wife around 2012, when they discussed a cryptocurrency derisking plan.

A venue fit for royalty served as the backdrop for Meghan Markle's 2019 baby shower. On a snowy February day, the year before she and Prince Harry stepped back as senior members of the royal family, the **** ss of Sussex was showered with love by friends at New York's luxurious The Mark Hotel.
The 16-story neo-Italian Renaissance, landmark building, located on the corner of 77th Street and Madison Avenue in Manhattan, was designed by architects Schwartz & Gross in 1926. The property offers 106 rooms, 44 suites and three penthouses.
The Mark Penthouse on the hotel's 16th floor is where Meghan's baby shower was held. The penthouse spanning 10,000 square feet is the largest in the country. It features four bedrooms, four fireplaces, five full bathrooms, two powder rooms, two wet bars, a Technogym fitness room and spa, in addition to a 2,500-square-foot rooftop terrace complete with a cold plunge. Described as the hotel's "ravishing grand penthouse," the residence comes with a crown-worthy bill, costing $100,000 per night, plus tax.
Amal Clooney, Serena Williams, Gayle King, Daniel Martin, Jessica Mulroney and Abigail Spencer were among the guests who gathered at the penthouse for the baby shower to celebrate the **** ss, who was pregnant with her and Harry's first child, son Prince Archie, at the time. The festivities that day included flower arranging, with the flowers later donated to charity.
"My girlfriends surprised me with a really beautiful baby shower in New York," the Suits alum recalled in her and Harry's 2022 Netflix docuseries. "They're like, 'We're going to shower her with love and shower her baby"...and boy did they in style!"

The Trump administration's latest nominee to lead the nation' top public health agency drew frustrated reactions from some U.S. senators on Wednesday when they pressed her on whether she would protect the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from political meddling.
Dr. Erica Schwartz told the Senate health committee she "will never betray the science" and pledged to use "radical transparency" in a bid to rebuild public trust in the agency. But several senators questioned how she might handle pressure from Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who has repeatedly moved to alter U.S. vaccine and CDC policies. Schwartz repeatedly declined to dissent from some of those actions.
Schwartz, 54, is up for director of the Atlanta-based CDC, which is charged with protecting Americans from preventable health threats.
Her career has largely been spent in military uniform, including in a leadership position at the U.S. Coast Guard where she oversaw the organization's system of 41 clinics and 150 sick bays — as well as policies promoting vaccinations of service members. She later served as deputy surgeon general, where she helped lead uniformed medical and health professionals posted at the CDC and government health agencies that serve the general public.
The CDC long enjoyed a sterling international reputation but has been in turmoil since Trump returned to office last year. Largely due to layoffs and resignations, the agency has lost more than 3,000 employees, or more than a quarter of its workforce. Morale has plummeted as a succession of mostly temporary leaders have come and gone — the front office filled with political appointees, many of them with little or no training in medicine or public health.

Over the course of a year, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has seen a traumatic shooting, abrupt leadership changes and a shattering of its image as a globally respected public health agency.
So by the time the Trump administration started looking for a new director, there was one requirement that topped the search criteria.
"We just need someone who's not crazy," a White House official told CNN amid the lengthy hunt for a nominee that finally culminated with Trump tapping Erica Schwartz, a former deputy surgeon general and retired US Coast Guard officer, for the job in April.
On Wednesday, Schwartz — President Donald Trump's third pick to lead the CDC — appears before the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee to face confirmation. She testifies alongside Sean Kaufman, the president's nominee for ****** istant Secretary of Preparedness and Response.
Schwartz's selection was aimed at bringing stability to the agency after near-constant upheaval that has decimated morale and deeply shaken Americans' faith in the administration's health agenda, senior health officials and others familiar with the matter told CNN at the time.

In many ways, the story around the Cleveland Browns has remained the same heading into the 2026 season: What is the deal at the quarterback position? The offensive line has been upgraded, and the wide receiver room saw an update this offseason, while RB Quinshon Judkins and TE Harold Fannin Jr. are the bedrock of the offense's future.
The defense is looking to replace two key components: DE Myles Garrett and DC Jim Schwartz. Adding DE Jared Verse in the Garrett deal puts a lot of pressure on the young defensive end, while CBs Denzel Ward and Tyson Campbell are locked in as veteran cornerstones of a defense, along with youngsters Carson Schwesinger and Mason Graham.
As the offseason prepares to turn to training camp, ESPN's Daniel Oyefusi has listed Cleveland's three "lingering questions," including the obvious quarterback position. Verse and the Browns pass rush were the second question:
Cleveland, though, believes it is still well-equipped to field an elite defense after getting two-time Pro Bowler Jared Verse in return. Verse isn't in Garrett's caliber as a pass rusher, but he has still been one of the more disruptive edge defenders in his first two seasons.
Whether the team extends safety Grant Delpit and Ward also linger:

A notable football ****** yst has pegged Michigan State as a trap game for one national championship contender this upcoming season.
Ohio State, Oregon and Indiana are all considered the top favorites to win the Big Ten this season and contend for a national championship. So surely Michigan State will not be able to beat any of those teams this fall, right? One national ****** yst disagrees.
Geoff Schwartz of SirusXM and FOX Sports recently responded to a question on which is the most likely trap game for the Oregon Ducks this upcoming season, and he picked Michigan State. Schwartz pointed to a few factors for why he believes Michigan State could potentially upset preseason top 10 foe Oregon this fall:
Michigan State will be Oregon's seventh straight game
The game will be on the road on a Friday night in November
