Sean Brady won't be competing in the main event of UFC Fight Night 293 due to a gnarly knee injury that forced him to stay in the hospital for multiple days.
Brady (19-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC) was set to face Gabriel Bonfim in the Nov. 7 headliner at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas, but was forced out due to an infection and fluid buildup in his knee. The welterweight contender hopes to keep the matchup with Bonfim (20-1 MMA, 7-1 UFC) together, but isn't certain what will happen just yet.
Brady detailed the reasons for the fight's cancellation on "The BradyBags Show".
"So last week, Tuesday, I practiced in the morning," Brady explained. "Everything was going completely fine. By nighttime, I was going to do my next workout. I jumped on my bike. My knee was a little bit swollen afterwards. By 9 o'clock at night, I couldn't walk. So, that's Tuesday. Wednesday morning, I already knew because I've been in this situation before, like I've dealt with bursitis and sh*t, and I knew this wasn't bursitis – I knew it was an infection.
"So, I knew right away from dealing with my arm and my leg, the feeling that you get, it's just different. It's just a different pain. Like, I could barely walk. So, Wednesday morning, 6 a.m., first thing I do, I got to the hospital, and they start drawing blood, doing everything. They put me on IV antibiotics."

Bruised and battered, the Carolina Hurricanes met their first loss in seven games against the Calgary Flames – missing key pieces of their lineup in the second half of their back-to-back weekend set. The Flames took the game with a 3-2 win, ironically mirroring the same score the Hurricanes had in their win against the Winnipeg Jets just the day before.
Entering Sunday night's contest, Carolina was not just missing Jordan Staal and Taylor Hall, but it was also Mark Jankowski – who had centered Staal's third line – due to a lower-body injury. Following the game, head coach Rod Brind'Amour further discussed that Jankowski had been shipped back to Raleigh to have his injury checked out.
The game honestly played out very similarly to the one against the Jets Saturday, with the first period ending in a 0-0 tie, and the second period ending in a 2-2 tie, with the third period having the singular goal – the game-winner.
In the second frame, Jesperi Kotkaniemi scored first on a slick wrist shot with help from Nicolas Deslauriers and Eric Robinson in a shift that their line was determined to find twine on.

Real Madrid returned to winning ways in La Liga with a 4-1 home victory over neighbours Rayo Vallecano on Saturday.
José Mourinho would not have been happy with Madrid's second-half display, but they had enough of a cushion thanks to Kylian Mbappé's penalty and goals from Alvaro Carreras and Jude Bellingham in the opening period.
Sergio Camello pulled one back early in the second half, and Thibaut Courtois was a busy man for a period, but Mbappé made sure of the points in stoppage time.
Real suffered their first defeat of the campaign last Friday when they were beaten by Real Betis before they saw off Inter Milan in the Champions League in midweek.
Diego Moreira scored twice in three minutes as AC Milan came from two down to draw 2-2 at Lazio, who dropped points in Serie A for the first time this season.

The Cleveland Browns will sport a new defensive look when they take the field on Sunday for their Week 1 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Some of those changes are by design: defensive end Jared Verse replaces Myles Garrett, linebacker Quincy Williams replaces Devin Bush, and defensive coordinator Mike Rutenberg takes over for Jim Schwartz.
There were some unexpected changes, however, most notably along the defensive line, after defensive end Alex Wright, who was expected to be a starter, was lost for the season to a torn Achilles tendon.
That led general manager Andrew Berry to bring in veterans Sam Williams and Derek Barnett, and Rutenberg to experiment with Michael Hall Jr. at defensive end.
Rutenberg had his weekly press conference on Thursday and addressed several topics. Here are four takeaways from what he had to say.

Lautaro Martinez has offered his support to Julian Alvarez after the Atletico Madrid forward's failed move to Barcelona, admitting that the situation surrounding his Argentina teammate has been difficult.
Alvarez remained at Atletico despite Barcelona's interest and the player's desire to make the move to Catalonia.
The Spanish transfer window eventually closed without an agreement being reached, leaving the 26-year-old to continue his career in Madrid.
With the transfer saga still attracting attention, Lautaro was asked about his international teammate ahead of Inter Milan's Champions League meeting with Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Inter captain revealed that he had personally contacted Alvarez and made it clear that he was behind him during a complicated period.

One of the biggest questions around the NFL pertaining to Aaron Donald's return to the Los Angeles Rams is about whether or not he can still be the same Aaron Donald he was during his original run, when he was the best defensive player in football.
It's still entirely possible that he's a massively impactful piece for the Rams' defense, but at the same time the odds are slim he's as good as he was then. Again, he was previously the best defensive player in football and has since spent two years away from the game.
But there is one thing that's certainly working in his favor: the position he plays.
This isn't a hard-and-fast rule by any means, but generally speaking interior defensive linemen, especially ones that already play at a high level, often age more gracefully than other players and positions.
In 2025, there were just two interior defensive lineman 35 years old or older who played an NFL game. That's relevant, of course, because that's how old Donald is now. One was 36-year-old Cameron Heyward, one of the best defensive tackles of his era, who started all 17 games for the Pittsburgh Steelers and earned his second second-team All-Pro honor, and sixth All-Pro nod overall.

In a recent interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Rasmus Højlund discussed, among other things, his time at Manchester United.
When asked about his thoughts on why things didn't work out at Old Trafford, Højlund singled out the arrival of Ruben Amorim after Erik ten Hag's dismissal.
"I don't think anything specific went wrong. I arrived at a club with a manager: it was a difficult year, with many injuries, but we won the FA Cup and I was the top scorer. Then we went through a difficult period and Amorim arrived, an excellent coach but with a different playing style. The team had to adapt, and it was complicated. We all struggled. My first year was a success, the second wasn't. But I played in the Europa League final; if we had won, it would have been a different story. That's football: sometimes it goes well, other times it goes badly, but I'm very happy to have played for the club I dreamed of as a child."
The young Dane moved to Man United ahead of the 2023/24 season from Atalanta on the back of a €79.8m move. In his debut season, he made 43 appearances across all competitions, scoring 16 goals and providing two ****** ists. In his second season, he managed just ten goals and four ****** ists in 52 appearances. Thus followed a season-long loan at Napoli, which was made permanent this summer for €44 million.
The price tag definitely did not help matters for Højlund. While teams often go out of their way to sign players for beyond-reason prices, something United have been particularly wont to do, those price tags do dictate how a player's time at the club is perceived, even when players often hardly play a role in deciding the fee agreed between the negotiating clubs.

Unai Emery has insisted that there are no "good relations" between Chelsea and Aston Villa after a series of transfers between the clubs.
On Sunday Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez joined Chelsea from Villa, completing the eighth deal between them in the past four years.
Martinez's move to Chelsea comes after Nicolas Jackson's transfer the other way last week.
No two Premier League clubs have exchanged more players, on permanent or loan deals, in the past four years.
But Villa boss Emery said the relationship between the two clubs is "only through the deals for money".

The Los Angeles Dodgers have been without Shohei Ohtani in the rotation for a while now, and just as he was supposed to return, he has suffered a setback.
Following a 20-pitch bullpen session on Friday, Ohtani reportedly was not "100 percent," per The Athletic's Katie Woo. The Dodgers decided that he would not pitch on Sunday or Tuesday. Ohtani has been dealing with a knee issue that caused him to get an orthovisc injection. He is also dealing with a biceps issue.
Roberts noted that if any pitcher was feeling the way Ohtani was, the team would not let them pitch. However, unlike a normal pitcher, Ohtani can't go on a rehab **** ignment and is a major piece of the Dodgers offense. Ohtani was planning to build up in big league games, but Roberts noted that if he is not 100 percent, it may not be worth pushing him.
"In the sense of coming out of (the bullpen), you're a couple days away from taking the mound again, and you don't feel you know 100 percent," Roberts said. "So it's to ask the question, if you're not 100 percent going into now ramping up in a major-league game, is it worth it?"

Week 18 memories can haunt you, and while Tyler Loop did not cost the Baltimore Ravens a game Friday night, his temperament will be something to monitor. Baltimore defeated the Washington Commanders by 38 points, and every one of his attempts came with the result already headed in one dominant direction. Still, that does not mean the Ravens should dismiss what happened.
Loop made field goals from 51 and 24 yards but missed from 58 and 51 during Baltimore's 41-3 victory. He converted all five extra points, finished the game 2-for-4 on field goals, and ended the preseason 5-for-8.
Baltimore should bring in competition, just to test the rookie and keep him on his toes.
We're not talking about replacing Loop, just taking his temperature. His successful 51-yard attempt demonstrated the necessary leg strength, and a 58-yard miss should not automatically count as a crisis. He also responded to his first-half miss by responding from that exact spot on the later 51-yard miss during halftime.
Loop converted 62.5% of his preseason field goals, and his team, which is expected to contend for a Super Bowl, routinely produces close games in the AFC North.

Kimi Antonelli is going to start the Italian Grand Prix from somewhere near the back of the grid, and Mercedes chose that outcome on purpose.
Team boss Toto Wolff confirmed after the Dutch Grand Prix that the championship leader will take a fresh power unit at his home race in Monza, triggering a grid penalty that could push him to the back row depending on how many components get swapped. It's a deliberate hit to a driver sitting on one of the healthier points cushions in recent memory, and it hands a very specific kind of opportunity to Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc heading into the one weekend of the year built for making up ground through raw speed rather than clever strategy.
Under F1's power unit rules, teams get a fixed allocation of components for the season, and going even one over that limit on a single part triggers an automatic grid penalty the next time it's used. Antonelli's retirement in Barcelona earlier this year, an electrical failure that erased a big chunk of his points lead in one afternoon, is why Mercedes decided a scheduled penalty beats another unscheduled DNF. Wolff didn't dress it up when he explained the choice: "With Kimi, we're taking the full thing. Our calculations say that that's the best track to take it. Obviously, algorithms don't take their nationality into consideration. We're here to fight for a championship and not get the most PR."
Monza's reputation as the easiest track on the calendar to recover lost ground is part of that math. Pierre Gasly won there from tenth in 2020, Daniel Ricciardo won from a midfield slot the following year, and Max Verstappen took victory in 2022 after starting five places back. We covered just how thin these allocations have gotten across the grid after the Belgian Grand Prix, when a single weekend produced a 30-place penalty for Isack Hadjar and 10-place drops apiece for Lando Norris, Lance Stroll and Carlos Sainz, all for the same rule Antonelli is about to run into at Monza.
Recovering from the back isn't quite the free pass it used to be, though. DRS is gone under the 2026 regulations, replaced by a manual override system that only unlocks within a fixed distance of the car ahead and draws from a battery that's already stretched thin at a circuit with almost no meaningful braking to recharge it. Monza asks cars to scavenge energy at full throttle instead of under braking, which is a very different proposition for a driver trying to slice through traffic than it was in the DRS era. Antonelli might still make Monza look easy. He just won't have quite the same tools to do it with.

The Kansas City Chiefs will take on the Seattle Seahawks Friday night at Arrowhead Stadium to end the preseason and send both teams into Week 1.
The game will kick off at 7:00 P.M. Arrowhead time and be broadcast on KSHB 41 for local viewers.
The Chiefs lost their second preseason game 16-15 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, dropping the preseason record to 0-2 this year.
There will be plenty to observe, as this game is the last chance for many young players to show what they can do and for roster-bubble players to prove themselves one more time.
Here are five things to watch.

Marissa Shafer battled Irene Smith in a marathon No. 2 singles match, earning a 3-6, 7-6 (3), 6-3 win that clinched a 3-2 win for West Scranton over Honesdale on Wednesday in a Lackawanna League Division II girls tennis match.
The Shafer-Smith match lasted 2 hours and 20 minutes.
"It was super tough," Shafer, a junior, said about rallying back after being down a set in a phone interview. "My muscles were cramping up, but I had fun. I just kept my head up. I had a really good mindset going into the second set. It was mostly my mindset, but also picking up strategies that worked against my opponent. I hydrated a lot, and just told myself in my head that I had this. I tried my best not to be nervous. I had to trust all of my shots and have no hesitation.
"It felt really good to win it. I was really relieved."
Chiara Pugliese won at No. 1 singles, and Alyssa Heffron won No. 3 singles for West Scranton. Pugliese defeated Alexis Mazzotta, 6-1, 6-2, and Heffron beat Tarynn Murray, 7-6 (1), 6-2.

On August 29, Stephen Curry is eligible to sign a two-year contract extension with the Golden State Warriors for about $136.7 million. The Warriors are prepared to give Curry what he wants, and he hasn't made any indications that he wants to leave. However, ESPN's Brian Windhorst encourages the superstar to stall signing an extension this summer.
Signing Curry to a contract extension this summer could solidify the star player's legacy with Golden State. Both sides are interested in continuing their partnership, and Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. expressed interest in keeping the four-time champion.
Ahead of his upcoming contract eligibility, Windhorst said it would be the best option for the team if Curry holds out on signing a new deal.

A midfielder has confirmed he's ready to join Liverpool.
Liverpool's transfer window has fallen well short of expectations so far.
There are still some pretty obvious weaknesses across the squad that need addressing before the season gets going, yet meaningful progress in the market has been difficult to see.
Andoni Iraola actually acknowledged that himself during his first press conference. Liverpool's new head coach admitted that the squad still needed strengthening and made it clear that work was being done behind the scenes to bring in the players required.
At the time, that was fairly reassuring. At least it suggested Liverpool knew where the problems were and had a plan to fix them.

Liverpool 'remain hopeful' of signing at least one winger in the final few days of the summer transfer window, according to a prominent Reds journalist.
The Merseyside giants have reportedly agreed personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola but have yet to settle a fee with the European champions, who could want as much as £145m for the player after add-ons (CaughtOffside).
Andoni Iraola's side are also pursing a move for Yankuba Minteh, for whom Brighton have already rejected two bids, the most recent of which amounted to £60m (Sky Sports).
In an article for the Daily Mail published in the early hours of the morning, Lewis Steele provided an update on Liverpool's pursuit of those two wingers, whilst also imploring them to sign a defensive midfielder after some familiar frailties were punished in the 2-2 draw at Newcastle on Sunday.
He wrote: 'Liverpool remain hopeful of signing Paris Saint-Germain's Bradley Barcola this week and are weighing up whether to make a third bid for Brighton's Yankuba Minteh. Those will be crucial additions, given the wide options are limited at present, but signing a deep-lying midfielder is just as important.

Matchday one of the 2026/27 Premier League season continues Sunday with a highly-anticipated matchup between Man City and Bournemouth.
The odds are in favor of the home side as they debut at Etihad Stadium, led by Norwegian star striker Erling Haaland. Even after another dominant campaign under Pep Guardiola last season, Man City is entering a new era with Enzo Maresca leading the charge.
Lining up on the other side is Bournemouth, who finished sixth on 57 points last year, and secured themselves in the top-half with European football. The Cherries have been able to challenge Man City in recent meetings, and right winger Rayan will likely act as the club's biggest threat come Sunday.

Olympique de Marseille are pushing to sign Standard Liege goalkeeper Matthieu Epolo (21), Get French Football News understands. The Ligue 1 club remain, however, in a position of having to sell before they buy. They aren't the only party interested in the DR Congo international. Another Ligue 1 club and a Premier League side in the market for a No.2 goalkeeper have also made enquiries.
OM's transfer window continues to be held up by an inability to get some of the top earners off their books. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is one of the players that Marseille are keen to offload, although there is no player for whom bids will not be welcomed.
Sales would, notably, allow them to sign a goalkeeper (or two), which has become a priority for Grégory Lorenzi. Jeffrey De Lange started against RC Strasbourg Alsace on Friday night; the Dutchman could yet leave. Currently, there is a difference in valuation between the Ligue 1 club and Standard Liege, who are demanding an €8m fee.
Les Phocéens could face competition in the form of another Ligue 1 club and a Premier League side who have already reached out to the Belgian outfit.

The Tennessee ******* ans made several significant free agent additions during the 2026 offseason, hoping their new pieces would help the franchise turn the corner.
After the first week of preseason action, Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report took another look at some of the NFL's biggest free-agent signings and re-graded their early performances. Four ******* ans appeared on the list, and the results were mixed.
Wan'Dale Robinson and Alontae Taylor received the lowest marks with D grades, while John Franklin-Myers received a C and Cor'Dale Flott received a B-. Here's a closer look at each evaluation.
The ******* ans signed Robinson expecting him to become an important piece of Brian Daboll's offense, as the two previously worked together with the New York Giants.
However, Gagnon wasn't impressed enough with Robinson's role to coincide with his price tag (4 years, $70 million) to give the move a strong grade. Therefore, Robinson received a grade of D, with the following explanation:

Something new is coming to the streets of Washington, D.C. this weekend.
An IndyCar race.
Back in January, the series announced a special, one-off race on the streets of the nation's capital, the Freedom 250. Framed as part of the celebrations around the nation's 250th anniversary, IndyCar will take to the streets around the National Mall, in a one-off event right in the heart of the city, and right in the heart of the schedule.
But how does a team prepare for an event like this, one that gets added to the schedule and presents a host of new challenges for the teams and the drivers?
To answer that question I sat down with three members of Arrow McLaren: Kyle Moyer, Scott Harner, and driver Pato O'Ward. Moyer is the team's Director of Competition, while Harner is Arrow McLaren's Director of Race Operations.

The Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints took to the spotlight with their fight-filled joint practice earlier this week—and the NFL took notice.
Over the past few seasons, the league has cracked down on what it considers bad sportsmanship, from taunting and excessive celebrations to gestures mimicking firearms. Now, it looks like joint-practice brawls could be the next item on the NFL's hit list.

The league also reminded teams that they were warned ahead of training camp about their responsibility to keep unsportsmanlike behavior in check at joint practices—particularly when things have the potential to turn dangerous and cause injuries.

Randal Kolo Muani has returned to Juventus on a permanent deal and it's a move that could prove to be key for the Old Lady in the new season.
The outcome of the 2025-26 Serie A campaign shocked fans using casino online uk as giants Milan and Juventus failed to make it to the top four and qualify for the Champions League.
This summer, both sides must rebuild and Juventus have continued to go ahead with coach Luciano Spalletti who had replaced Igor Tudor in October 2025 and signed a contract extension even before the end of the season.
Kolo Muani already played for Juventus in 2024-25, scoring 10 goals in 22 appearances across all competitions under Tudor, but the Frenchman has always been a top target for Spalletti since the Tuscan tactician arrived on the Allianz Stadium dug-out less than a year ago.
Juventus already tried to sign the Frenchman in the January window and now they've managed to bring him back on a permanent deal from PSG.

The New Orleans Saints brought in wide receivers Chase Claypool and Josh Reynolds for workouts following the recent injury news about first-round selection Jordyn Tyson.
Claypool is a former second-round pick out of Notre Dame. The wideout began his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he played for three seasons before heading to the Chicago Bears, and then the Miami Dolphins. Claypool has 175 career receptions for 2,261 yards and 13 touchdowns in 58 games played. He most recently signed with the Buffalo Bills, but departed shortly after agreeing to an injury settlement with the team and has not played in a game since 2023.
Reynolds played with the New York Jets in 2025, but has taken a sort of journeyman approach to his NFL career. The Texas A&M product was chosen in the fourth round of the 2017 draft by the Los Angeles Rams. After spending four years in LA, he played for the Tennessee ******* ans, Detroit Lions, Denver Broncos, and the Jacksonville Jaguars before playing in five games with NYJ last year. Reynolds has 244 receptions, 3,228 yards, and 20 TDs in his pro career.
After it was announced that eighth-overall pick WR Jordyn Tyson's hamstring injury would keep him out "around two months," New Orleans wasted no time in bringing in players they believe could be viable options for added depth to the pass-catching group. While Tyson's injury is not considered to be serious or severe, the extended amount of missed time is certainly a blow to the Saints' offensive potential for 2026.
