The A's jumped out to an early lead in the 2nd inning when Carlos Cortes smacked a 2-run homer to right. Fast forward to the 5th, with the Twins offense still struggling against lefty rookie Gage Jump, Taj threw 9 pitches and all of them were strikes for the first immaculate inning in Twins history. This was surprising to me, I figured Johan Santana or somebody must have done it before, but I guess not.
Things were still looking great for Taj two outs into the 6th inning, but a single by Lawrence Butler, an RBI double by Tommy White, and an RBI single by Donovan Walton pushed their lead to 4 runs.
The one hit the Twins had in the first 6 innings against Jump was a pop up that landed 5 feet from the pitcher's mound in the 4th. I'm not sure how this is considered a hit, but it does help Royce Lewis' batting average, I guess. In the top of the 7th, Royce got himself a "real" hit with a line drive to left. One out later, Kaelen Culpepper doubled to bring in the Twins first run. Then a Brooks Lee double put two in scoring position for Victor Caratini, who grounded out for an RBI to make it a 2-4 game. The final chance for the Twins tonight came with 2 on and 2 out for Luke Keaschall, but he struck out looking to end the threat.
To add injury to insult, Buxton had to leave the game after appearing to aggravate his hip chasing down a ball in the gap in the 7th inning.
In the standings, the Twins sit at 64-69 and may fall to 3 games back in the wild card hunt. Also, the Royals have won 9 straight somehow.

• "At best, your (gift to) ... President Trump amidst high-stakes tariff decisions creates the glaring appearance of impropriety. ‌At worst, it reinforces that foreign ⁠corporate special interests can … buy lucrative tariff exemptions simply by showering President Trump with shiny gifts," they wrote in the letter.

Jacob Misiorowski continued his ****** ault on MLB hitters Sunday afternoon. The Milwaukee Brewers ace became the first pitcher to reach 200 strikeouts this season during a dominant opening against the Minnesota Twins at American Family Field.
Misiorowski entered the series finale needing five strikeouts to reach the milestone. He recorded all five before Minnesota completed its first trip through the batting order. The hard-throwing right-hander struck out Royce Lewis and Josh Bell during a perfect first inning. He added punchouts against Kody Clemens and Victor Caratini in the second before retiring Alan Roden for No. 200 to begin the third.
Misiorowski then struck out Ryan Kreidler, giving him six strikeouts through his first eight batters.
Reaching 200 strikeouts on Aug. 9 would be impressive enough. How quickly Misiorowski accumulated them places him among some of the most overpowering pitchers in modern baseball history.

This week, my young nephew is attending summer Vacation Bible School. In terms of biblical tales involving heroes, he could have gotten a similar education by flipping on the ballgame tonight and observing Noah Cameron's mound arc sinking the Minnesota Twins.
The starting pitchers—Dean Kremer in his MN debut & Cameron for the Kansas City Royals—matched zeros for the first three innings in this contest. Kremer because he had solid stuff—Cameron because he is a corporeal being in the past month who throws with his left arm.

Bases loaded…zero outs…time for the offense to break out, right?!
Somehow these batsmen made taking the lead anticlimactic: a Victor Caratini GIDP RBI followed by a Brooks Lee strikeout. 1-0 MN.

The Twins offense tonight could only be described as groundball happy, get ready to read the words "double play" about a million times. In the 1st, 2 on and 1 out, Kody Clemens hits into an inning ending double play. In the 2nd inning, Luke Keaschall ends the inning with their second double play.
They finally broke through in the 4th inning, after Clemens doubled and Josh Bell hit an RBI single to put the Twins up 1-0. In the bottom of the 5th Alan Roden hits into the 3rd Twin-killer of the night.
In the top of the 6th, Josh Rojas and Lane Thomas did a double steal, with Rojas stealing home. I wasn't there to see it but Gameday says it happened. Two batters later, the Twin killer himself, Salvador Perez, hit the go-ahead RBI single to put the Royals up 2-1.
The Twins rallied again, with Clemens HBP and Bell singling to center with Clemens going 1st-to-3rd on the play. Then Victor Caratini ended the inning by, you guessed it, hitting into the 4th double play of the night. I'm so glad I missed almost all of this game because that had to be depressing.
What wasn't depressing was the performance of Taj Bradley and the bullpen tonight. Taj racked up 10 strikeouts in his 6 innings of work, allowing just 3 hits, 2 runs, and 3 walks. Then Kody Funderburk, Travis Adams, and Jack Anderson combined for 3 innings of shutout pitching, allowing just 1 hit and striking out 4.

Even great teams have room for improvement, and for the Dodgers in 2026, one of those paths is in the acquisition of a catcher. Will Smith has been out since early June with neck inflammation, and updates on his condition have put into question if and when the veteran might be back. We asked the fans if the Dodgers should proceed with the current depth chart believing in Smith's return or plan for the worst while they still can.
All in all, with the resources that this team possesses and the lack of holes to fill, to look for a catching addition feels like a given. Perhaps more than what we may see with the bat, the Dodgers ought to look at adding a steady presence, a catcher who can be relied on to not only do his job but also excel behind the plate defensively.
What adds layers to this debate is that for a team on the market for a catcher, there are legit game-changing options to at least call about. Although none of them are explicitly on the block, controllable beyond just this current campaign, Hunter Goodman, Shea Langeliers, and Adley Rutschman each could be seen within reason as trade candidates. Acquiring any of them, though, would inevitably back the Dodgers into a corner down the line since Smith is going nowhere long-term.
Perhaps in Minnesota, the Dodgers might find targets that are more their speed in Ryan Jeffers or Victor Caratini. Quietly, one of the better-hitting catchers in the AL over the last four seasons, Jeffers has been phenomenal with a .933 OPS in a short sample (44 games) due to missed time this year. With Caratini, who is under contract through next season at a reasonable rate, the Dodgers would be getting stability above all else, adding a player perfectly willing to fade into a backup role down the line. Caratini might even provide Rushing insurance if the youngster hits his way into staying on as a starter in the playoffs.

Sophie Brussaux, who gave birth to Drake's son Adonis in October 2017, married Efe Caliskan in a ceremony with the couple's closest family and friends in Toronto, Canada Sunday.
It's unclear if Drake or nine-year-old Adonis were in attendance for the big event.
Caliskan is a professional fighter who recently made his MMA debut in Canada which resulted in a unanimous decision win — Brussaux had previously posted videos sparring and training with Caliskan.
Brussaux's ring was a seven carat pear-shaped diamond from Zaid Jewels.

Lourdes Gurriel made an early impact defensively when he threw out Byron Buxton trying to hustle to second for a double. Buxton crushed the pitch off the left field wall but Gurriel played the carom perfectly and threw into second where Ketel had plenty of time to set up and apply the tag to Buxton who was in his home run trot out the batter’s box. Lourdes is too young to bang into the wall and make the catch like the young kids have been doing, but his way was just as effective.
Gabi’s single in the first was of the infield variety. The Minnesota shortstop made an excellent play to range up the middle and stop the ball from rolling into centerfield, but he couldn’t get up and make the throw in time.
Michael Soroka left the game before the beginning of the second inning after looking gimpy on his push off leg during his warm up tosses. Not great on any day, but especially not the same day that we put Ryne Nelson on IL with a likely longterm injury.
Lourdes and Corbin picked up Taylor Clarke who was called in on short notice with their defense on the first two plays of the second inning. Lourdes made a sliding catch in shallow left (probably could have let Gerry make the catch ranging back from short but it all worked out) and then Corbin made an outstanding sliding catch in right-center. Unfortunately there was no defense that could save the next batted ball when Victor Caratini blasted the pitch 430 feet into the right field bleachers.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Ryan Kreidler’s RBI double off the center-field wall in the eighth inning scored Luke Keaschall and completed the Minnesota Twins’ comeback in a 5-4 win against the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday.
Kreidler had a pinch-hit single and scored the tying run in the seventh for Minnesota, which took two of three games in the series. Victor Caratini hit a two-run homer for the Twins in the fourth.
Andrew Morris (2-2) pitched a scoreless inning of relief, striking out three of the four batters he faced. Yoendrys Gómez earned his sixth save of the season and fifth with the Twins.
Kreidler made a diving stop and throw from shortstop in the ninth to get José Fermín at first after a successful replay challenge by Minnesota manager Derek Shelton.
Byron Buxton had three hits for the Twins and drove in a run during the seventh-inning rally.
