Indianapolis Colts star Sauce Gardner has filed a lawsuit against a Michigan construction company—claiming that the business failed to carry out renovations to a $935,000 abandoned apartment building in Detroit, despite receiving a $500,000 deposit to secure its services.
The NFL athlete—whose real name is Ahmad Gardner—claims that he was lured into buying the property under false pretenses, and is asking that the Michigan-based Sanborn Construction company be forced to return his deposit and pay him additional damages.
In the lawsuit, which was first reported by TMZ, the 24-year-old cornerback states that he first met the company's CEO, Nicholas Sanborn, on social media, where they struck up a conversation about real estate, which led to a discussion about a disused apartment building in the New Center neighborhood of Motor City.
Gardner, who was born in Detroit, says he became particularly interested in the property after Sanborn told him that an adjacent building was also on the market—a detail that the NFL star claims he later discovered was untrue. He adds that he agreed to invest in the multifamily property under the ****** umption that Sanborn Construction would handle the renovation of the abandoned structure.
Records show that the athlete closed on the property, which was previously known as Bonita Apartments and features 44 vacant units, on May 11, with the final sale price listed as $935,000. Prior to Gardner's purchase, the building had been listed for just under $1.2 million.

Florian Wirtz believes that he is "more ready" and "really excited" for his second season in the Premier League after settling in during his first campaign at Liverpool.
Wirtz made the move from Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth £116m last summer and scored seven goals and provided 10 ***** ists in what was an underwhelming campaign overall for Liverpool under Arne Slot.
"I definitely learned a lot. I just learned how Premier League football is played and I think I am more ready for my second season because I know how it is now. I am really excited for my next season," said Wirtz.
"I've played one year now in England and I've said often enough that it's a different style of football than in Germany. You just get used to the games and your opponents. I just know how it is now, so I'm happy to have my next season."
Asked to ***** s his first season, Wirtz said: "It's a difficult question but of course there were some games when I wasn't happy with myself, but also a lot of games when I felt good on the pitch. Last season was difficult for the whole club but hopefully we have the right energy and mentality this season, so every player can shine more."

The Lions need a new backup quarterback.
Teddy Bridgewater has informed the club that he's going to step away, with retirement likely.
Bridgewater had not attended the last two practices.
"Teddy Bridgewater is going to step away," head coach Dan Campbell said in his Sunday press conference. "I've known Teddy a long time and, man, the human being is unbelievable — certainly the player. Everything that he's about, the type of teammate he is, the way that he prepares, [he] always played the game up here, and had a huge heart. He's going to be missed.
"So, I'll never forget 2019 [with the Saints] when Drew [Brees] got injured — we'd just gone out to the Rams, got beat out there, and Drew got his thumb, and we lost him for five weeks. And Teddy stepped in, we won five in a row, man. That was Teddy. And just his time being with us [with the Lions] meant a lot and it meant a lot to our guys. So, he's going to be missed."

When the Pittsburgh Steelers took the practice field for the first time of training camp, they did so without Joey Porter Jr. and Jalen Ramsey. The two most vital pieces of the Steelers' secondary were placed on the PUP list ahead of the team's first practice – Ramsey dealing with a knee injury while Porter was said to be nursing a bad back.
As we head into Saturday's night practice at Latrobe Memorial Stadium, neither Porter nor Ramsey have taken the field, leaving Pittsburgh in need of someone to step up.
Asante Samuel Jr. has done just that.
Through the first week and change of training camp practices, you could make a real and compelling argument that Samuel has been the best player on the field. He has consistently made terrific plays on the ball during team period, totaling several passes broken up at all levels, including a one-on-one ball while matched up with DK Metcalf on a deep pass from Aaron Rodgers.
On Thursday, I asked head coach Mike McCarthy about Samuel and how impressed he's been with him throughout this process.

Rashid Khan took six wickets as Afghanistan hammered Ireland by 92 runs in the second one-day international.
Victory saw Afghanistan take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series after the first ODI was washed out.
Ireland lost seven wickets for 63 runs on Friday as they were bowled out for 207 chasing a target of 300 at Bready Cricket Club in the Northern Irish village of Magheramason.
Khan, one of the outstanding leg-spinners of his generation, took four of the last seven wickets to fall as he finished with impressive figures of 6-34 – his third "six for" in ODI cricket. His best bowling in the format remains 7-18 against the West Indies in 2017.
Rashid struck two early blows, firstly having Andy Balbirnie caught behind to end a promising stand of 72 with Cade Carmichael.

Years after leaving Boston, Will Manny still runs into fans carrying jerseys he signed more than a decade ago. Jeff Trainor remembers being the kid in the stands at Harvard Stadium, dreaming of one day playing on the same field.
It's the kind of connection Homecoming Weekend celebrates.
Inside the Cannons locker room, every tie to Boston is unique. To some, it's home. Others found it through college, and the team's newest members are just beginning to experience it. But for all of them, wearing "Boston" across their chest carries a meaning that goes far beyond the jersey.
"I think I'm a little bit biased," Trainor said. "But out of all the weekends of the year, this is the one that I look forward to most."
For Manny, the Cannons' offensive coordinator, Boston is where he found a second home.

Every year, various media outlets provide their version of specific rankings. Defensive, offensive, positional rankings, power rankings, etc. The Athletic's Mike Sando ranks veteran quarterbacks into tiers every year with help from various NFL executives and coaches. Rookies are excluded as they haven't played a snap in the NFL.
This year's panel consisted of eight general managers, five ******* istant GMs, five former GMs and three other executives, plus nine head coaches, 10 defensive coordinators, five offensive coordinators, two offensive ******* istants, one defensive ******* istant, and two coaches that specialize in ******* ytics and game management for a grand total of 21 executives and 29 coaches.
Last year, Washington Commanders' quarterback Jayden Daniels was ranked as a Tier 2 quarterback, and despite playing in only seven games in 2025, he remains a second-tier quarterback. The panel voted, and Sando ranked the quarterbacks by average vote.
Tier 1 criteria: Carries his team each week, the team wins because of him, expertly handles pure-passing situations, and has no real holes in his game. This category included Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Matt Stafford, and Joe Burrow.
Tier 2 criteria: Carries his team sometimes, handles pure-passing situations in doses, or has other dimensions that elevate him above Tier 3, and has a hole or two in his game. This is where Daniels lands.

Former India cricketer Mohammed Kaif believes Rohit Sharma has made up his mind not to retire from ODI cricket on his own and will instead leave it to the selectors to decide when his journey with the national team should end.

Rohit's future has been under intense scrutiny since India's ODI series against England. Reports ahead of the tour claimed that the senior selection committee had informed the veteran opener he was not part of India's plans for the 2027 ODI World Cup, with the selectors keen to invest in younger opening options, including Yashasvi Jaiswal.

The speculation gathered further pace after Rohit managed a slow-paced 26 off 47 ******* in the second ODI at Cardiff. Questions over his future intensified, with reports suggesting the series decider at Lord's on July 19 could be his final ODI appearance for India.

However, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia dismissed those claims before the match, stating that no decision had been taken to make the Lord's fixture Rohit's farewell game. While the clarification ended immediate speculation, it did not confirm whether Rohit remained part of India's long-term plans leading up to the 2027 World Cup.

The veteran opener responded in style, smashing 138 from just 110 deliveries during India's chase of 388 at Lord's. His innings, featuring 17 fours and five sixes, made him the first Indian batter to score an ODI century at the iconic venue, although India eventually fell 27 runs short and lost the series 2-1.

Following the match, captain Shubman Gill said Rohit had not informed the team about any retirement plans, while Rohit himself insisted his only focus was on scoring runs for India.

Sharing his views on the situation, Kaif said Rohit's recent actions suggest he has no intention of stepping away voluntarily.

"Yes, one thing has become clear," Kaif said during a discussion. "Rohit Sharma is effectively saying, 'If I am not playing well, you take the call yourselves. Drop me.'

"The fact that he has not stepped away or announced his retirement, the enthusiasm he is showing, the way he is approaching his batting and the hundred he scored at Lord's — all of this shows that he is now focused entirely on playing. Whatever the selectors want to do after that is up to them. Perhaps earlier there was an attempt to convince him about certain things internally. The problem at the moment is that it is difficult to understand who stands where. There is a lot of confusion," Kaif said on his YouTube channel.

Kaif also questioned the lack of clarity from the team management regarding Rohit's long-term future. While coaches have repeatedly backed the opener to play with freedom, the former India batter believes the management should clearly state whether Rohit remains part of its World Cup plans.

"At times, members of the coaching staff come out and say, 'We have given Rohit Sharma complete freedom to play his natural game.' But ******* ody has yet made a clear statement saying, 'Ro

If this season went according to plan for the Mets, Tuesday would be the first opportunity for New York to show off all their new toys.
That's what the day after the deadline represents for so many contenders around the league.
The Mets were built to be one of those contenders in 2026. That means Monday's deadline profiled as a final opportunity to acquire big-league talent for a final push for a deep postseason run.
There will be new faces in the Mets' clubhouse on Tuesday in Cleveland, but these players are not high-profile acquisitions from other clubs. These are the replacements for all the valuable pieces New York traded away in their pre-deadline yard sale.
Considering the Mets traded away seven players from their active roster in the days leading up to the deadline — including four deals featuring five players on Monday — there were quite a few spots to fill.

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick spoke to the press after the squad's final session of their training camp in England, and much of the conversation was about the club's search for a new striker.
The Catalans are still dreaming of Julián Álvarez but have also been linked with a number of other names, and Ferran Torres' possible exit to PSG also increases the urgency to sign a number nine.
Flick made it clear he does want a striker to be signed but was also very calm in his answer, saying he has "complete confidence" in sporting director Deco to get a deal over the line.
"It depends on the team. We have to wait. I have complete confidence in Deco and we know we have to do something. It also depends on [what happens with] Ferran. We'll see what we do."
Barça currently have Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Dani Olmo, Fermín López, Ferran and new signings Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi as forward options along with academy prospects Ebrima Tunkara and Hamza Abdelkarim, but Flick clearly wants a true striker profile to replace Robert Lewandowski.

Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is in a new offense this season and one of the changes he's adapting to this summer concerns where he's lining up.
Offensive coordinator Declan Doyle has Jackson taking snaps under center more often than he has in the past and Jackson was asked about his comfort level with that shift from past seasons.
"I am extremely comfortable with it," Jackson said, via a transcript from the team. "In youth football I was under center – I haven't been consistently under center since youth football. We did it here and there in the past, but with this balanced type of offense, I feel like it will help us out a lot – identifying the defense, really keeping the defense on their toes."
There have been other tweaks to the offense since Doyle was hired and Jackson said there have been "no difficulties" adjusting to what he's being asked to do in this system. The Ravens will need that to continue into the fall for their 2026 season to end in a better place than they did last year.

Detroit — With big names atop the leaderboard at the Rocket Classic, the galleries, already impressive through two rounds, are expected to swell on the weekend at Detroit Golf Club.
But the field, at the halfway point, has now shrunk.
The cut line came in at 3 under par after Friday's round, with 73 players at that number or better. The rest of the 146-player field is heading home after finishing 2 under or worse after two rounds. The field started at 147, but Patrick Rodgers withdrew after an opening-round 77.
Among the big names who missed the cut was Wyndham Clark, the No. 9 player in the Official World Golf Ranking who won his second U.S. Open last month at Shinnecock Hills in New York.
Clark got off to a good start this week, shooting 2 under through his first nine holes Thursday, but it was a struggle the rest of the way. He finished 5 over after a second-round 74 that included a double-bogey at the par-5 14th hole. It's Clark's second straight missed cut (British Open), after a scorching stretch in which he had a six-tournament stretch during which he won twice (Byron Nelson, U.S. Open), and didn't have a finish worse than a tie for 13th.

Today in Boston Celtics history, the team traded for Minnesota Timberwolves star Kevin Garnett before the 2007-08 NBA regular season season, which ended in the hanging of the long-awaited Banner 17. Initially, Garnett hesitated to sign an extension with the Celtics if they dealt for him, due to the lack of high-caliber talent on the roster, apart from forward Paul Pierce. However, the earlier addition of sharpshooting UConn alum Ray Allen that summer proved enticing enough for KG to finalize the agreement. After, Garnett agreed to a three-year extension, supplementing the two remaining years on his current contract.
The history-altering deal was consummated soon after. The South Carolinian was dealt for Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes, Sebastian Telfair, Gerald Green, Theo Ratliff, cash, and draft considerations.
Garnett would win a ****** le with the team in 2008, be elected Defensive Player of the Year that season, make five All-Star games, and earn many more such honors during his six seasons with the team.
Five years before that date, in 2012, ex-Celtics center Jason Collins signed a contract with Boston. The Stanford alum played a mere 32 games with the franchise that season before he was traded to the Washington Wizards in February 2013. He averaged 1.2 points and 1.6 rebounds per contest over that stretch.
It is the date in 2009 that Boston waived one-time Celtics guard Gabe Pruitt, who had been drafted by the team out of USC with the 32nd pick of the 2007 NBA draft. The Los Angeles native put up 2 points a game across 62 games played in two seasons with Boston.

PSG remains keen to keep Bradley Barcola this summer despite the player's reported interest in leaving the club, and the French champions are expected to discourage the ******* nal target from seeking a move when he returns to training.
Barcola is believed to be looking for a new challenge after winning back-to-back Champions League ******* les with PSG, even though he has found it more difficult to secure a regular place in the starting line-up. His situation has attracted interest from several clubs ahead of the new season.

Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. would like to put the 2025 season in the rearview mirror.
Thomas had 87 catches for 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns after being drafted in the first round in 2024, but his second season halted all talk of him jumping right to the top of the list of NFL wideouts. Thomas caught less than half of the ****** thrown his way and he was credited with 10 drops en route to 48 catches for 707 yards and two touchdowns.
The drop in production led to trade chatter this offseason, but the Jaguars were quick to shut it down and call Thomas a big part of their plans for 2026. That talk and other doubts about his upside still found their way to Thomas and he credits a conversation with his father for putting him in the right mindset to bounce back.
"We heard everything that was going on, all that, but he just told me, 'Come out here and be undeniable,'" Thomas said, via Mark Lane of the ****** ociated Press. "That's just something I live by every day. I want to be undeniable."
Jakobi Meyers and Parker Washington stepped up as the team's most reliable wideouts during a 13-4 season, so Jacksonville has a full deck of options in the passing game. They'd still like to see Thomas get back to something close to that undeniable rookie form as they try to defend their division ****** le this fall.

With rookies already in camp, the Tennessee **** ans are just a few days away from taking the field and watching the position battles commence.
Tennessee made some significant changes to its roster throughout the offseason and will look a lot different than it did in 2025, but it still has some questions to answer on both sides of the ball. In his preseason preview, ESPN's Turron Davenport outlines three key position battles to watch once camp kicks off that could have a major impact on the outcome of the 2026 season.
There's no slam-dunk favorite in the three-way battle between veterans Austin Schlottmann and Andre James and rookie Pat Coogan. Schlottmann has the upper hand, having played in Daboll's offense the past two seasons. But James, a late addition during minicamp, started 31 games for offensive line coach Carmen Bricillo with the Raiders in 2022 and 2023. Coogan has an outside shot at the job because of his top-level communication skills, but he has an uphill battle after being selected in the sixth round in April.
The late addition of James adds some more intrigue to this competition, which had the appearance of a two-horse race throughout most of the offseason. James did have his best seasons under Bricillo, and could surprise. Coogan has championship pedigree from his college days, and could eventually see some reps, definitely making it one of the positions to watch.
Veterans Cordell Volson and Jackson Slater are the primary competitors in this battle. Volson has 48 starts under his belt after being selected by the Bengals in the fourth round in 2022. He missed the 2025 season after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder last August. Slater enters his second season after being selected in the fifth round last year. He played 34 snaps last season, all of which came in the season finale against the Jaguars. Someone needs to emerge quickly to help solidify the right side, especially with questions surrounding Latham at right tackle.

Scottie Scheffler is looking up at one of the most exciting rookies on the PGA Tour heading into the second round of the 2026 3M Open.
The world No. 1 started out strong with a 6-under 65, three strokes behind Ben Kohles. José Caballero has spent the better part of a month trying to game MLB’s pitch-clock rules. But on Wednesday, the umpires fired back.
The New York Yankees were outraged after home-plate umpire Quinn Wolcott issued Caballero a strike for a pitch-clock violation Wednesday, which crew chief Adrian Johnson revealed was a call that came from MLB after the Yankees’ 5-3 extra-inning loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Yankees hitting coach James Rowson was ejected for arguing on Caballero’s behalf, after Watson cited him during the sixth inning of their loss in Game 1 of a split doubleheader.
Caballero has been playing coy with opposing pitchers for weeks by making eye contact exactly at the 8-second mark of the pitch clock — which is the point at which hitters are, by rule, supposed to be available to hit a pitch.
But on Wednesday, Caballero was issued a strike by Watson on his second pitch of the at-bat, even though he appeared to be in eye contact with Pirates reliever Carmen Mlodzinski, which made the count 0-2.
