A 40-year-old Pennsylvania woman who died with what appears to be measles-related complications also had ongoing lung problems, including asthma and COPD, according to the coroner's office who handled the case. It would be the third measles-related death in Pennsylvania amid a surging outbreak of the virus. 693 cases had been confirmed so far this year in the state, with 99 in the last week alone. NEW YORK, Sept 13 (Reuters) - The death toll in Pennsylvania's measles outbreak rose this weekend with a county coroner's ‌report of a woman's death from complications related to the ‌disease.
The coroner's office of western Pennsylvania's Jefferson County reported that a 40-year-old woman died on Saturday from complications ******* ociated with measles. The commonwealth has seen an outbreak of the highly-infectious disease, adding to a resurgence of measles in the United States as official data shows declining U.S. vaccination rates.
The coroner's office said it ‌was working with the Pennsylvania ⁠Department of Health.
"This is a heartbreaking loss for the family and an unfortunate reminder that measles can be a ⁠serious and potentially life-threatening disease," Coroner Greg Furlong said in a statement posted on Facebook.

In the literal sense, UCF waited more than an hour before taking the field as thunderstorms hovered over and rolled through Pittsburgh's Acrisure Stadium. It's a waste of energy to get spun up about his voting record or place in our party — he votes with us 90 percent of the time," Democratic Sen. On August 4, Essential Utilities (NYSE:WTRG) reported second-quarter results that read like two different stories stapled together. Revenue climbed, the dividend grew for the 36th time in 35 years, and the merger with American Water inched closer to the finish line. But earnings per share actually dipped from a year earlier, and the company had to strip out merger costs just to show flat profitability. For a utility this steady, that split is worth a closer look.
Essential's regulated water segment posted revenue of $357.5 million in the quarter, up 7.6% from $332.3 million a year earlier, and the whole company's first-half revenue climbed 7.2% to nearly $1.4 billion. Much of that growth came from rate cases: state regulators approved $43.9 million in new annual water revenue across Pennsylvania, Illinois, Ohio, North Carolina and Indiana, plus $12.7 million more for the gas business in Kentucky and Pennsylvania. Another $79.7 million in water rate requests and a $163.2 million gas case in Pennsylvania, tied to replacing aging pipelines, are still working through the process.
The company keeps buying its way into new customers, too. In May, it closed a $4.9 million wastewater deal in Bastrop County, Texas, and it has signed agreements worth roughly $282 million to add over 200,000 more customers in Pennsylvania, Texas, North Carolina and New Jersey, including the $276.5 million purchase of Philadelphia-area sewer authority DELCORA. Since 2015, acquisitions have added more than 138,000 customers to Essential's base.
Layer on the pending American Water merger, which cleared Virginia and Ohio regulators this year after nearly unanimous shareholder approval in February, and Essential is positioning itself as a much larger multi-state utility by early 2027. The board's decision to raise the dividend 5.25% to $0.3606 per share, continuing a streak of 36 increases over 35 years, signals confidence that this growth is durable.
Look past the top line and the picture gets less flattering. Second quarter net income actually fell to $105.7 million from $107.8 million a year ago, pulling GAAP earnings per share down to $0.37 from $0.38. Essential had to report an adjusted $0.38 figure just to exclude merger-related costs and show earnings roughly matching last year's. The slide is sharper over six months: net income dropped to $330.1 million, or $1.16 per share, from $391.6 million, or $1.41 per share, in the first half of 2025.

Andy Williams, an All Elite Wrestling star known as The Butcher and a metalcore guitarist, has died at age 48.
Williams died on Saturday night after a medical emergency during an Enjoy Wrestling event at Mr. Smalls Theatre in Millvale, Pennsylvania, as the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office told TMZ.
Williams and his tag-team partner, Jesse Guilmette a.k.a. The Blade, had a match against wrestler TME at the event.

Kennedy Jr. asked his new CDC director to remove a reference to two Pennsylvania deaths from the agency's online measles tally after he questioned whether the disease contributed to the fatalities, three sources familiar with the situation said.
Kennedy's request came after CDC staffers had already ‌accepted the state's characterization of the deaths as linked to measles, a Pennsylvania official said.
Despite that, Erica Schwartz, the recently appointed director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, ‌agreed with Kennedy's directive and implemented it without objection, said the three sources familiar with the matter, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The move followed a heated exchange on social media between Kennedy, a long-time anti-vaccine activist appointed by President Donald Trump, and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, a Democrat. Kraft missed the second half of the season last year due to a torn ACL. Fortunately, he has progressed on schedule in his recovery and will be ready for Week One. A fuel supplier is suing a New Jersey distributor and its president, alleging they failed to pay for gasoline that was later sold through stations in the Trump-promoted Freedom Fuel Network.
Mansfield Oil Company filed the lawsuit against KRSM Inc. and its president, Syed Kazmi, on Aug. 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Mansfield alleges KRSM obtained approximately 150 loads of fuel from its account at the Twin Oaks terminal in Pennsylvania between May 21 and July 7, totaling roughly 1,124,594 gallons worth $3,998,868.46.
"KRSM sold a portion of such fuel to its stations that are part of the Freedom Fuel Network," Mansfield alleges in the complaint. The company further claims KRSM was able to sell some of the fuel at low prices because it had not paid Mansfield for it. Those allegations have not been adjudicated.
KRSM had been a Mansfield customer since 2022. A commercial credit application included with the complaint and signed by Kazmi states that if Mansfield extended credit and KRSM purchased fuel, KRSM would be responsible for paying for it. The agreement called for payment by electronic funds transfer within 10 days of receiving an invoice.

The Wisconsin Badgers' volleyball team will wrap up their Opening Spike Classic appearance with another top-five matchup.
Wisconsin will take on No. 4 Pittsburgh on Sunday, August. 30, at Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The matchup comes just two days after the Badgers face No. 5 Stanford, giving Wisconsin a challenging opening weekend against two of the nation's best teams.
Pittsburgh enters the 2026 season ranked No. 4 in the country in the AVCA preseason poll. The Panthers have been a fixture near the top of the national rankings, opening the season ranked inside the top five for the fourth consecutive year.
The Badgers and Panthers will meet as part of the second annual Opening Spike Classic, which features Wisconsin, Pittsburgh, Stanford, and Kansas. All four matches during the event will be televised nationally across ESPN networks.

There will be no repeat champion this year, as Taiwan didn't make it through the Asia-Pacific region tournament after winning the LLWS ******* le in 2025 and finishing as runner-up in 2024. The U.S. bracket also features 10 new teams from last year, illustrating how difficult it is to navigate the regionals and make it to Williamsport.

Kaden Wetjen finally gave Mike McCarthy exactly what he had been asking for. After spending much of the preseason hearing criticism about his decision-making as a returner, the Pittsburgh Steelers rookie broke loose for a huge punt-return touchdown against the Buffalo Bills, and even during the play, McCarthy was still barking the same message he had been drilling into Wetjen all summer.
And the funny part? Wetjen didn't exactly follow the instructions. McCarthy was yelling for him to get north and attack vertically. Instead, the rookie bounced toward the sideline. However, this time, that decision worked perfectly.

McCarthy explained what happened on August 28, after the Steelers' 28-27 preseason loss to the Bills. Wetjen broke a 45-yard punt return for a touchdown in the third quarter, giving them the explosive special-teams play the Steelers had been waiting to see from their fourth-round rookie.
"Sometimes coaches say things on a headset they probably shouldn't say, like 'get north, get north' or 'get vertical,' which I was screaming at him at that time. And then he obviously bounced it to the sideline. I saw it on the Jumbotron. I saw why he bounced it, because he didn't have anywhere to go in front of him. He's been under some criticism just for being a young guy on a veteran team, so some tough love. I'm proud of him. I was really happy to see the return unit get that. Obviously, that was just a heck of a return by him, because if you're grading the tape, the coverage unit was in excellent position right there. And he gets around a corner and, obviously, finishes it off. That was a big-time return."
