A big sigh of relief for sure, as Hall is expected to be able to suit up as the team's starting running back in Week 1 against the ***** ans on Sunday, Sept. 13.
Regardless, running back depth is extremely important for the Jets, especially given the fact that Hall tore his ACL and meniscus in 2022.
With this in mind, it's clear that the battle for RB2 on the roster is between third-year running backs Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis. Drafted a round apart in 2024, Davis had more carries (43 to Allen's 18), yards per carry (5.5 to Allen's 4.2), and receptions (21 to Allen's 2) in the 2025 season. However, at the moment, it seems Allen has the better spot on the depth chart. Against the Bucs on Friday, Allen made the most of his four carries (tied for most on the night with Hall), racking up 44 yards and a touchdown on a smooth 31-yard run.

The New York Jets appear to have avoided the worst-case scenario after running back Breece Hall was forced to leave practice early Monday. Hall was able to walk off the field slowly after going down with a non-contact injury during a catch and run.
While non-contact injuries are always concerning, it sounds like Hall avoided a season-ending issue. The running back is dealing with a strained groin, one that Jets head coach Aaron Glenn does not consider a "big deal."
Despite that, the team will still send Hall for further evaluation. It likely wants to take every precaution possible after handing Hall a three-year, $45.75 million deal in May.
Hall, 25, is once again expected to be a focal point of the Jets' offense next season. After being selected by the team in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Hall got off to a tremendous start, rushing for 463 yards in seven games before a torn ACL and meniscus cut his rookie season short.
Hall returned to action the following year, rushing for 994 yards in 17 games. After a modest 846-yard performance in 2024, Hall turned in his best season yet in 2025. Appearing in 16 games, Hall rushed for 1,065 yards and scored four touchdowns for an otherwise miserable Jets offense.

Betnijah Laney-Hamilton has been awarded on waivers to the Washington Mystics, the team announced Saturday.
The New York Liberty waived the 11-year veteran Thursday after four full seasons with the franchise, including the 2024 season when the Liberty won their first WNBA championship. After missing the entire 2025 campaign while recovering from surgery to repair a meniscus injury in her left knee, she signed a one-year, $400,000 protected veteran contract.
After starting the first four games of the season, Laney-Hamilton's role was diminished substantially. She appeared in 13 more games for the Liberty, starting just one. She was a healthy scratch for eight consecutive games before being waived.
Because the Mystics claimed Laney-Hamilton off waivers, they will pay out the remainder of her $400,000 contract. They had over $1.8 million in cap **** e before acquiring Laney-Hamilton, but had to waive guard Rori Harmon to make room for her on their roster.
The Mystics' decision to claim Laney-Hamilton came down to a desire for a veteran presence as they attempt to clinch a playoff spot for the first time since 2023, according to a team source who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to speak publicly about an ongoing transaction. Returning from an injury is always emotional, especially one as severe as Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell suffered back in December of 2024.
Dell tore his ACL, MCL and LCL, along with dislocating his kneecap and suffering significant meniscus damage, which required multiple surgeries and forced him to miss the entire 2025 season while rehabbing. For 18 months, fans pondered if the forrmer third-round pick would ever return to full form.
Fast-forward to Wednesday and Dell was back in training camp. While he is not working out in full capacity, his participation in camp is a positive sign for his availability for the 2026 season and beyond.
As much as the physical recovery was challenging, Dell mentioned the internal struggle as a focal issue, too.
"I'll say mentally, it's just about trusting that the work you put in prior to going out there to do those things," Dell said. "Prior to going out there to put your foot in the ground, trusting the process with the training staff and what they had set out for me so that when I got out here I wasn't scared and I was talking to my doctor and I was just asking him questions and he was just telling me to let loose, trust it and be you because it's 100% stable. When he told me that, I just came out and was putting my foot in the ground. I didn't care about it, I tried not to think about it, because during your process the mental aspect of it is the hardest thing you have to get over. If I went out there iffy about what I'm doing, then I probably would never be able to come back to what I want to be. I was just out there, just trusting it, putting my foot in the ground, trying to be explosive and it's working in my favor."

Joel Embiid's health remains the biggest worry for the Philadelphia 76ers. Multiple knee surgeries, meniscus tears, and foot injuries limited the center to just 96 regular-season games over the last three years.
Last season, an oblique strain and an emergency appendectomy on April 9 cut his year to 38 games. This followed the 2024-25 season, when the team sat him out entirely because of his knee.
When the 76ers posted photos of a slimmer Embiid practicing with rookie VJ Edgecombe, fans quickly noticed a troubling detail. NBC Sports' John Clark, who shared the image sent out by the 76ers themselves, noted that Embiid has shed some pounds this summer and called it "very promising."

Trey Benson is back in the Arizona Cardinals' injury room with a "flare-up" to his surgically repaired left knee, according to head coach Mike LaFleur.
The issue does not sound particularly serious, with LaFleur saying he does not expect Benson's absence to stretch across multiple weeks. It seems likely, though, that Benson will miss the Hall of Fame Game on Thursday, Aug. 6.
"I wouldn't say (I'd be) shocked if he goes in Canton, but I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't go," LaFleur said.

The Cardinals drafted defensive tackle Walter Nolen with the 16th overall pick in 2025. He played six games with no starts and totaled 11 tackles, two sacks and five quarterback hits.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — San Francisco Giants infielder Casey Schmitt was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a torn meniscus in his left knee.
Schmitt, the Giants' breakout star this season, was injured while trying to stop after taking a sharp turn around first base during Monday night's 3-0 win over the Milwaukee Brewers.

The New York Giants got some much needed good news around dinner time on Thursday evening.
Wide receiver Malik Nabers (knee) is not expected to start training camp on the PUP list, per a report from Jordan Raanan of ESPN.
As we well know, Nabers suffered a torn ACL with additional meniscus damage in the Giants Week 4 win against the Los Angeles Chargers a year ago. In addition to the surgery to repair his torn ACL, Nabers also needed to have his meniscus repaired. He also had a cleanup surgery earlier in the off-season, which raised questions as to his readiness for the 2026 season — let alone training camp.
Instead, it does appear that he's trending toward being ready for Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys. Just how ready remains to be seen, but this is better news than the possibility of missing the first four weeks on the PUP list. Nabers will be ineligible for the PUP list once he practices the first time or plays in a preseason game.
Likewise, running back Cam Skattebo will be active to start training camp.

Lady Vols basketball guard Avery Mills underwent surgery for a torn ACL and meniscus in her right knee, she announced on Instagram on July 23.
"After a successful ACL & meniscus repair surgery, the comeback starts now!" Mills wrote.
