Patriots' Receiver Concerns Put DeMario Douglas In Unexpected Spotlight originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The New England Patriots entered the season hoping their passing game would take another significant step forward with Drake Maye leading the offense. A.J. Brown was expected to play an important role in that development, giving Maye a proven receiving threat capable of making difficult catches and creating explosive plays.
Instead, the Patriots have spent much of the opening two months trying to keep their wide receiver group healthy.
Thursday brought another discouraging development when Brown missed practice because of ankle and knee issues.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that a knee problem had flared up, leaving Brown's availability for Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins uncertain.

The Chargers returned from their Week 7 bye with offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel addressing the media Thursday, giving a look at the work to get the offense on track ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Rams.
McDaniel did extensive film work with quarterback Justin Herbert. He said they watched "probably 4 hours" of tape together and called it "a very healthy experience." He stressed their strong relationship and a constructive approach to the struggles.
"There's a healthy way to be accountable, so you're not misdirecting blame to yourself when things aren't working," McDaniel said.
The Chargers remain the NFL's only winless team at 0-6, with the offense ranking last in points per game (15.0) after a season-low six points in the Week 6 loss to the Chiefs. Harbaugh confirmed Wednesday that McDaniel would keep the call sheet, stating, "We're very confident in Mike and his talent, his work ethic and his ability. We continue to be."
Herbert also recently backed his coordinator. On Wednesday, he said the issues are "not his fault, it's our fault as an offense," adding that "the guys are open" and "plays are being made," while stressing the need for better execution.

Los Angeles Chargers WR Ladd McConkey (concussion) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 29.

Why it Matters: McConkey has been battling a variety of injuries since the season opener, but ****** uming he clears concussion protocol, it looks like he could be relatively healthy for the Week 8 contest against the Los Angeles Rams. Bo Bichette's decision to opt into a second year with the Mets was not a surprise to anyone in the organization. He had one of the worst statistical seasons of his career offensively – not exactly the kind of year players try to ride into free agency. He spoke glowingly of new manager Andy Green. And he seemed to find comfort in the clubhouse and on the New York stage – as if he had arrived with something to prove and finally remembered he was capable of proving it.
But while the Mets have expected for several weeks now that Bichette would be back, his return nevertheless qualifies as crucial to their offseason. With Bichette, the Mets lineup in 2027 will include all the key components of a group that posted the fifth-best OPS in the majors after August 1… even with Juan Soto injured for part of that time.
The top of the order looked versatile and energetic when Francisco Lindor was healthy and leading off and Soto was healthy and hitting second and Bichette was behind them, putting the ball in play with Carson Benge there to drive everyone in. Bichette's return means the Mets can build on the offense they unearthed late last year, rather than having to reconfigure it.
But because Bichette's decision was not a surprise, expectations for the Mets season should not pivot because of it. They still need, and plan to pursue, starting pitching. They will still explore options to upgrade offensively at first base, though exactly how high they will aim – and how much money or prospect capital they are willing to spend there – remains unclear.
And they still seem likely to give one of their infield prospects a chance somewhere in the majors next season. With Bichette back, the most obvious place for a prospect to elbow in would be second, though because Bichette has also played second base, the Mets could make room for a prospect at third.

The tiny town of Wheeler is now home to a World Series champion.
Native son Brandon Woodruff has earned a ring after his Milwaukee Brewers finished off Tampa Bay in five games, winning 4-1 on Wednesday night. It's the first World Series ****** le in franchise history.
Woodruff, 33, has spent his entire professional career in the Brewers organization, including the last 10 in the majors – making him the longest-tenured current Brewer. He's been one of the team's most consistent pitchers – when healthy. Woodruff missed the entire 2024 season with an injury to his throwing shoulder, and he has battled similar ailments the past two seasons. He made 12 starts in 2025 and nine starts this year.
After pitching on July 4, Woodruff was shut down due to shoulder issues and did not pitch the rest of the regular season. His numbers: a 2-2 record and 2.98 ERA.
But surprisingly, the right-hander did not need surgery and got healthy enough to be included on Milwaukee's World Series roster. And then, in Game 3 on Monday, Woodruff got the final three outs of a 10-1 win. He allowed one run on two hits and had one strikeout.

The McMahon football team's game scheduled for Friday at Trumbull has been postponed after injuries led to a limited number of available players.
The game is scheduled to be played Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 4 p.m.
"The decision to postpone the game was due to a limited number of varsity players. We have a total of 24 juniors and seniors, 12 players are healthy and others are dealing with injuries or other health ailments," McMahon Athletic Director John Cross said. "Postponing the game allows the team to get healthier. This allows us to be ready for our next game against Stamford."
The Senators are scheduled to play host to Stamford on Friday, Nov. 6.
In addition to the Trumbull and Stamford games, McMahon's remaining schedule consists of a game at Westhill on Saturday, Nov. 14 and the annual Thanksgiving morning game against cross-city rival Norwalk.

After a big road win against Indiana and a bye week to rest, get healthy, and figure out a game plan to install a new quarterback following Julian Sayin's injury, the Ohio State football team heads to L.A. to take on the USC Trojans on Saturday.
Buckeye fans will love that this is a night game in the Coliseum, at least for folks in Ohio, and they might even love that Ohio State is a modest road favorite. USC is coming off a disappointing loss at Wisconsin and now has two losses on the season, so winning against the No. 2-ranked team in the country is almost a must. The Buckeyes also need to win to stay on track for the Big Ten **** le and a potential spot in the College Football Playoff.
The stage is set, and each Thursday, we get a look at what the Ohio State football creative team releases on social media as that week's game trailer, and we have it for you again. This one is set against the story of The Odyssey, which, of course, has Trojans, Troy, and all of that, with the Buckeyes playing the part as the conquerors.
Have a look at the trailer for Game 8, **** led "Warriors."
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET and will be telecast on NBC. We'll be there before, during, and after the game, so be sure to come back for more coverage.

BYU football is picking the pieces up from the stunning UCF loss. That means operating without running back LJ Martin against Arizona State. But Cougar fans received an optimistic update on Martin before BYU faces in-state rival Utah.
So Martin isn't anticipated to be healthy against the Sun Devils. But college football insider Pete Nakos dropped this update that'll grab the attention of Cougar fans.
"Martin has made strong progress in the last two weeks, with sources at the time saying they were hopeful he would be good to go against the Utes, with real confidence growing since then," Nakos wrote.

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Pacers are ready to put the 2025-26 season behind them. It was a season filled with too many injuries to count, with a bleak 19-63 record.
But the Pacers are healthy again. Tyrese Haliburton is back, Ivica Zubac is healthy again, and the entire starting five has finally had time to gel throughout training camp practices.
Whether they can stay healthy, however, could define their season once again.
Here are two X-factors for the Pacers' 2026-27 season, plus one bold prediction:
CAN THEY AVOID THE INJURY BUG?

Buffalo Bills tight end Dalton Kincaid (ribs) went for seven receptions and 38 yards on eight targets in Week 6 against the Las Vegas Raiders. Kincaid suffered an injury to his ribs during the game.

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy registered game highs with seven receptions and 73 yards on his seven targets in Week 6 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
SOURCE: USA TODAY
Why it Matters: Worthy was the No. 1 receiver with Rashee Rice sidelined, and the former University of Texas standout looked the part. He had some big catches, and he quickly earned the trust of Patrick Mahomes. For now, consider him as WR4 or flex fantasy option with some upside, at least until Rice is healthy enough to return.

The singer, 38, opened up about her weight loss journey — which she refers to as "releasing weight" — during a new interview with Jason Lee for BET, revealing that while she believes she was always healthy, she wasn't always comfortable.
When Lee, 49, noted that some fans felt she had "abandoned" them after she started getting "healthier," the "Truth Hurts" artist corrected him.
"I just got smaller," she shared. "I think that I was extremely healthy at my highest weight. My blood was extremely healthy. I think what happened was, it was physically uncomfortable in some areas."
Explaining that she would experience joint pain that made it difficult to do her job as a performer, she added, "my back was hurtin' and things like that."

When a caller mentioned that they are thinking about adding to their position in Simon Property Group, Inc. (NYSE:SPG) during the October 2 episode of Mad Money, Jim Cramer commented:
I think you're absolutely right... I want you to add to the Simon Property Group... What a great man he (David Simon, previous CEO) was, and he built a fabulous company, and you should buy more of it.
A September 8 question about buying Simon Property Group led Cramer to bring another real estate stock into the conversation.
Simon Property Group, Inc. (NYSE:SPG) reported second-quarter real estate funds from operations of $3.29 per diluted share, up 7.9% year-over-year. Domestic property net operating income increased 8.5%. Occupancy at its U.S. malls and premium outlets remained at 96%, while base minimum rent increased 6.3% to $62.42 per square foot. Management raised its full-year real estate funds from operations outlook to $13.20 - $13.30 per share. These figures show rent and property-income growth without requiring an increase in occupancy. Leasing activity also remained substantial. During the earnings call, management reported signing approximately 1,200 leases covering more than 4.8 million square feet, with new-deal volume increasing more than 20%.
Stable occupancy does not mean every tenant is healthy. Simon Property Group, Inc. (NYSE:SPG) absorbed approximately one million square feet of ****** e returned through retailer bankruptcies during the quarter. Management said it successfully re-leased the ****** e, helping maintain occupancy. That shows leasing strength, but also a reminder of the work required to preserve rental income. Additional retailer failures could bring more vacancies and replacement costs, even when demand for the properties remains sound.

When True Food Kitchen filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Oct. 4, the chain's CEO Jeff Chandler tried to make it clear that the company planned to continue operating.
"This process is the best path forward to simplify the business and focus on what we do best: delivering craveable, health-forward food and genuine hospitality. We are confident this step will help us build a stronger True Food Kitchen for the future," he said in a press release.
True Food Kitchen serves an upscale clientele looking for healthy food. Most of its stores are located in higher-end shopping or lifestyle plazas. That contributed to its financial problems, Chad Van Horn, founder and managing partner of Van Horn Law Group in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., shared with TheStreet.
"True Food Kitchen did not file because people stopped eating there. Sales were essentially flat, about $312 million last year against $314 million the year before, and the reported debt is around $42 million. That is a cost and footprint problem, not a demand problem," he said.
As part of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing, True Food Kitchen shared that it had already closed 12 restaurants. Those locations completed their final service on Oct. 4, but the initial release did not share which locations were closing.

Meredith Marks says she scheduled a facelift in the middle of her DJ tour and was performing again about 12 days after surgery.
"I was down for 48 hours, and after that I was pretty much fine," Marks, 54, told Page Six at the Virtual Reali-Tea Awards in New York City on Oct. 6th.
"I wasn't running around and going crazy or anything," she said of those early days.
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star underwent the procedure in February with Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Garo Kassabian, whom she praised as a "genius" during the interview.
In a September first-person account for Marie Claire, Marks said she began considering surgery after feeling that her face looked heavier than she wanted. She wanted a refreshed appearance that reflected how young and healthy she felt.

Joe Manganiello's long hair is tied up in a top knot, his beard is perfectly groomed, and his skin boasts glowing tan. He looks healthy because, finally, he is.
For seven of the last 10 years, the actor was secretly fighting a mysterious autoimmune illness so virulent it nearly killed him. In his new memoir Bloodlines (out Oct. 13), Manganiello, 49, opens up about recovering from a health battle that led to "major organ amputation" and contributed to the end of his seven-year marriage to actress Sofía Vergara, 54: "I can't believe I'm alive," he says. "I feel like I was reborn."

When my wife, son, and I pick a restaurant for dinner, we all have to make sacrifices.
It's challenging to find an eatery that offers something for each of us. The more specialized a restaurant gets, however, the less likely we are to eat there.
That reality hurts chains that focus on healthy food.
People may say they want to eat healthy, but chains like True Food Kitchen face a major challenge when it comes to people actually choosing to eat there.
My wife can order a salad at Chili's, but I can't get ribs and my son can't order chicken tenders at True Food Kitchen. That's one of the challenges facing a healthy restaurant brand that has now filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, according to a press release.

With so many guidelines around saving for retirement — best practices, where to put your savings, and how much to save — it can be difficult to know which path to take.
The advice usually goes something like this: Save a certain percentage of your income throughout your career, and your retirement fund could be somewhere in the millions. T. Rowe Price and Fidelity both recommend that retirement savers put away at least 15% of their income, while Vanguard recommends 12% to 15%.
This all sounds great in theory, but if you're earning an average salary, it could feel like a reach. However, experts say it may not be.
Last year on Instagram, multimillionaire investor and entrepreneur Kevin O'Leary shared the advice he gives his children to keep them on track toward a healthy nest egg.

Buying a stock in the hopes of holding it for 20 years or longer can be a difficult task. Warren Buffett likes to say his favorite holding period is "forever," but his trading history shows he has sold holdings, even after owning them for decades.
Knowing that, investors should look for holdings with the potential to survive and thrive for decades. Fortunately, investors have plenty of options, and these three well-established consumer staples stocks should stand out.
Missed AI's "Act 1"? Act 2 Could Be 14x Bigger. Most investors think they missed the AI boat because they didn't buy Nvidia in 2005. But according to our ****** ysts, we're only at the end of "Act 1"—the R&D phase. "Act 2" is the global rollout. Continue »
The public knows PepsiCo (NASDAQ: PEP) best for its flagship cola. Nonetheless, the company owns numerous well-known beverage and food brands, including Gatorade, Mountain Dew, Tostitos, and Quaker.
Its stock had suffered in recent years as the public turned against unhealthy beverages and packaged foods. PepsiCo has since pivoted, emphasizing healthier ingredients in its products and buying brands such as Siete to bolster this reputation.

Melyssa Ford spoke out in defense of Jasmine Guy after the actress was ridiculed for her looks amid the release of Netflix's A Different World.
In a video posted to her Instagram on Tuesday (Sept. 22), Ford called out "internet gangsters" for criticizing Guy, 64. "You internet gangsters get on my f**kingnerves," the Hot & Bothered host began, calling Guy "the latest woman to be picked apart for her age."
"Women cannot win for losing," Ford said. "If a woman gets work done, she lacks self-love, she's insecure, she's chasing youth. If she doesn't, she's letting herself go or she's praised for being 'brave' for letting her face do what faces do. 'Brave' for aging."
Ford called "aging naturally" a "privilege," while the alternative is "death." "If you wanna die and live a good-looking corpse, that's on you. But most of us wanna live long, healthy, robust lives and that means getting older. No one calls a f**kingman 'brave' for going gray."

Kylie Jenner showed her playful mom trick to wake her kids in the "Day in the Life" vlog. She shared a video on her YouTube page, giving a glimpse of how she spends a day from morning to night. It started with waking her two kids — Stormi (8) and Aire (4) — using a clever parenting hack. This definitely seemed to work, as the two children were stirring in no time.
Kylie Jenner's "Day in the Life" vlog showed her using a clever mom trick to wake her kids as part of their morning routine. On her YouTube page, the socialite shared a video of her day with her fans. In it, she recorded herself from morning to night, sharing a glimpse of her daily routine and fun activities.
The 10-minute and 19-second clip started with Jenner holding a black megaphone. She was still under the blanket on her huge bed. Her slightly puffed face showed that she had just woken up as well. While the mother of two was on one end of the bed, her daughter Stormi was on the other side. Initially, Jenner's voice cracked while saying "Good Morning" using the megaphone. It made her burst into laughter.
Then, she composed herself and tried again— louder and clearer. "Good morning, Stormi! Rise and Shine! It's a beautiful day. You are healthy, you are beautiful, you're smart. And we're going to conquer the day. Get up," Jenner woke her daughter up in a ****** se voice. Meanwhile, Stormi stirred in her sleep and tried not to wake up, but failed.
Furthermore, Jenner used the same trick with her son, Aire. She playfully sang, "Rise and Shine. Good morning, stinky ****** ." Then, she snuggled into her kid and showered him with kisses to wake him up with more love and care. Later, Jenner set her daughter's hair before the 8-year-old left for school.

Keke Palmer isn't interested in the internet's "mom-shaming."
The actress, singer and television host is speaking up about the pressures parents face online, where everything from car seats to kids' diets can bring unwanted criticism, without accounting for the lack of resources or varying challenges some families may face.
As flu and cold season approaches, she spoke with USA TODAY about her partnership with Beyfortus (nirsevimab), a preventive non-vaccine antibody shot for respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV, and how she takes preventative measures to protect the health of her 3-year-old son, Leo.
Respiratory syncytial virus is a common and easily spread virus that peaks during colder months. While most cases are mild, severity is unpredictable. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2% to 3% of infants under 6 months are hospitalized with RSV every year.
Palmer also opened up about motherhood, modeling healthy habits for her son and why she believes parents should have these open conversations without judging one another's choices.

Caddyshack star Michael O'Keefe, who played Danny Noonan in the 1980 film, revealed that cocaine use was rampant on set at the time and claimed that it was even included in the film's budget.
"There was some miscellaneous item," the 71-year-old actor told Page Six in a report published Friday, October 2. "It was the '70s. That's what was happening back then. People were just treating it like it was toothpaste, and you had to do it twice a day to stay healthy."
O'Keefe also confessed to doing cocaine before filming scenes for the 1980 comedy, which starred Ted Knight, Chevy Chase, Bill Murray and Rodney Dangerfield.
"It was not my favorite memory because in retrospect I can see those moments on camera and I'm not too happy about them," O'Keefe shared.
