Conor McGregor expressed optimism about his recovery from injury in a post on Instagram shared Wednesday.
"Surgery went excellent,'' the post read. "I am confident."
McGregor, 38, underwent surgery for what he said is an injured ACL and injured meniscus in his right knee. He has said he hopes to return to the octagon within a year.
The injury occurred during McGregor's comeback fight against Max Holloway when he opened the bout with a flying kick. He fell twice more and when he reached for his knee in apparent pain, the referee stopped the fight 69 seconds after it began.
The fight was McGregor's first in five years. His hiatus began after breaking his leg in 2021 during the first round of a fight against Dustin Poirier.
