The Minnesota Vikings' unbeaten start has drawn attention to quarterback Kyler Murray, whom an NFL ******* yst identified as the team's most notable offseason addition. Murray's arrival has given Minnesota a new option under center as the club continues its strong run through the 2026 season.
Murray joined the Vikings after the team moved on from its previous quarterback plans, bringing his experience and mobility to the offense. His ability to make plays with both his arm and legs has added another dimension to Minnesota's attack. The move also placed him in a system designed to use his athleticism while maintaining a balanced offensive approach.

The quarterback's mobility has been a key part of his early impact. Murray can extend plays when protection breaks down and create opportunities outside the pocket, forcing defenses to account for his movement. His scrambling ability can also open passing lanes and provide an additional threat on designed runs, making it more difficult for opponents to anticipate the offense's next move.
Minnesota's early results have strengthened the attention surrounding Murray's role. The Vikings have maintained an unbeaten record, with their defense contributing to the team's success while the offense works to establish consistency. Murray's presence has given the unit flexibility, particularly when plays develop differently than planned or when the defense applies pressure.

Slowly but surely the secret is coming out that Michael Penix Jr. has officially arrived as a franchise quarterback. The Atlanta Falcons' starter has been exceptional since returning to the lineup in Week 3, racking up nine touchdown passes to go with just one interception.
Penix is fresh off his best game of the season, totaling three scores and no turnovers against a top-five San Francisco 49ers defense.
That should have gotten Penix a huge ****** p in the weekly NFL.com quarterback rankings, but he only saw a modest gain of one spot, coming in at No. 12. That puts him in-between two former league MVPs, one spot below Patrick Mahomes and one above Matt Stafford.
"Michael Penix Jr. looks very comfortable and decisive in Kevin Stefanski's offense, freely spreading the ball among his many talented targets at a rate I haven't seen from him previously in his NFL career. Penix's contributions were especially important in a game in which Bijan Robinson fell short of breaking things open on the ground, and a reason to take the Falcons seriously going forward."
While the small gain is a little disappointing, keep in mind that Penix wasn't even listed in most quarterback rankings going into the season. Instead, it was Tua Tagovailoa representing the Falcons, usually somewhere between Nos. 30 and 32 among projected starters.

Welcome to Week 8 of the fantasy football season! Below I have some players I think you should start and some I think you should sit. As usual, your mileage may vary depending on your available choices, so don't just blindly bench someone if you don't have a better option!
Houston Texans, New Orleans Saints, New York Giants, and San Francisco 49ers
Prescott has been up and down this season, but he's coming off a strong Monday night game against the Eagles and now faces a bad Cardinals pass defense. Arizona has given up the most adjusted yards per attempt, the most receiving touchdowns, the second worst QB rating, and the second most yards per completion. Prescott is poised to pick up where he left off on Monday night.
If the Cardinals had better backup quarterbacks, I would be worried that Brissett might be benched during a game, but they don't. This week, as long as Brissett plays the whole game, it will be difficult for him not to accumulate fantasy points. I expect the Cowboys will be able to score on the Cardinals, while Brissett inefficiently tries to keep up through the air. Dallas, so far, has allowed the third worst completion percentage, the seventh worst average yards per attempt, and the third-worst yards per completion to opposing quarterbacks.
Murray continued to play poorly last week, but the Vikings also continued to win. Not trailing in games hurts Murray, as he doesn't need to run and throw as much to try to make up points. This week they'll face a Lions offense that should have more success against Brian Flores' top defense than any team this year. The Lions defense also remains the absolute worst at giving up fantasy points to quarterbacks. That has a lot to do with the Lions keeping teams throwing the ball from a deficit, but the results are hard to ignore.

In his surprise return to the ATP 500 event in Basel this year, Novak Djokovic could not quite produce the run he would have hoped for, as he fell to Jan-Lennard Struff in his second match of the tournament.
Although it was a tightly contested encounter, with all three sets reaching the 5-5 mark, Djokovic eventually lost after making some uncharacteristic errors in the final-set tiebreak, handing Struff his first-ever victory against him in their ninth meeting.
At this stage of his career, Djokovic is far removed from needing results at ATP 500 tournaments. However, he has consistently stated that, regardless of his age, he always plays to win. More importantly, this defeat has dented his hopes of achieving something he was particularly keen on when returning to Basel: securing his place at the ATP Finals in Turin in just over two weeks.
Djokovic entered Basel ranked 12th in the Race to Turin, an event for which only the top eight players qualify. This is a significant change from previous years, when the Serbian would typically have secured his qualification by this stage of the season, even if he subsequently chose not to participate, as he did in each of the past two years. The Serbian needed a deep run in Basel to strengthen his position and avoid having to rely entirely on the Paris Masters to secure qualification.
However, following this defeat, Djokovic will now have to do precisely that. Given the current landscape of the live rankings, he will need a deep run in Paris to put himself in a strong position to qualify. At the time of writing, Djokovic sits 11th in the Race to Turin, with Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz and Ben Shelton already having secured their places.

Former New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning sees a different version of J.J. McCarthy than the one who struggled in Minnesota.
Speaking on The Colin Cowherd Podcast, Manning pointed to McCarthy's recent play with the Giants as evidence that a fresh start is already paying off.
McCarthy, acquired from the Vikings in late September for a 2027 fifth-round pick, has appeared in three games for New York. He first drew notice in the fourth quarter against the New Orleans Saints, when he entered with little to lose and threw for 243 yards in a near-comeback. He followed that with a strong outing in his first start against the Houston Texans, helping the Giants secure an overtime win.
Through those appearances, McCarthy has posted a 95.2 passer rating while throwing for 495 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
Manning credited the early reps, particularly in two-minute situations against the Saints, for helping McCarthy settle into a rhythm.

The iconic skyline of Milan is set for a historic transformation as the city's two footballing heavyweights prepare to move into a state-of-the-art new home. In a move that signals a massive shift in the financial landscape of Serie A, AC Milan and Inter have officially secured a record-breaking naming rights partnership with Italian insurance giant Generali for their future shared arena.
Milan and Inter have agreed a staggering 20-year naming rights contract with Generali, which ESPN reports is worth €650 million (£545m/$725m). The new 71,500-capacity venue will be officially known as the Generali Stadium, effectively replacing the historic San Siro. The clubs purchased the required land from the city last November for €197m, paving the way for the eventual demolition of their legendary current home.
Construction is targeted to begin in 2028, with the first matches scheduled for the 2031-32 campaign, pending necessary approvals. Spearheaded by respective ownership groups RedBird Capital Partners and Oaktree, the stadium project also anchors a wider urban regeneration plan featuring new retail, leisure, and green ******* es.
The massive financial commitment eclipses the $700m agreement struck by Crypto.com in 2021 for the Los Angeles arena shared by the Lakers and Kings. It stands as a monumental boost for the two Serie A giants as they look to modernise and bridge the matchday revenue gap with Europe's elite.
A new symbol for Milano.
A new home for future generations of fans.

The Los Angeles Kings found a way to win a game they shouldn't have needed to find a way to win on Thursday night. They might have a change in coaching strategy to thank for that.
After blowing a 5-1 third-period lead, the Kings defeated the Ottawa Senators 6-5 in overtime behind Quinton Byfield's game-winner. But almost as interesting as the wild swings of the game was something Drew Doughty revealed after it ended.
"It's the first year in my whole career that we've ever actually worked on three-on-three," the Kings' captain said. "A lot of credit to the coaches in that area. We worked on it in camp. We worked on it before the season started, and they had a bit of a game plan, which we didn't really have before either. So a lot of credit to them for making us work on it."
If the Kings ever had an offseason where they needed to improve that aspect of their game, it was this past one. They lost an NHL-record 20 overtime and shootout games in 2025-26, a huge part of the reason they finished with the Western Conference's second wild-card spot and were swept out of the playoffs in the first round. First-year head coach Peter Laviolette came in and wanted to make sure the Kings didn't post those numbers again.
"There's definitely a method to the madness, and there's got to be a buy-in to that, and I think the players bought in," Laviolette said. "There's a lot of review that went through it, and there's things that we talk about prior to games and then after games — the overtime games — and reviewing that. And I think the players have done a really good job of executing them."

Kieron Pollard has taken over from Mahela Jayawardene as head coach of Mumbai Indians, and the franchise has turned to one of its best-known former players to lead it into IPL 2027.
On Friday, it was announced that former India player Robin Uthappa will take over as the team's batting coach while former MI pacer Mitchell McClenaghan has been named the bowling coach.
Pollard spent the last four IPL seasons as MI's batting coach, after he retired from playing in the league ahead of the 2023 season. He now moves up to the top job, which is also the first time he has held a head coaching role.
At 39, he is still active on the franchise circuit, having played for MI New York in the MLC and for Trinbago Knight Riders in the CPL this year. Earlier this month, Joburg Super Kings signed him in the SA20 player auction for the 2027 season.

After years of almost entirely focusing on the transfer portal, Rick Pitino is intensifying his efforts on the high school recruiting trail, and another class of 2027 prospect is landing on the Red Storm's radar.
Four-star Canadian recruit Godson Okokoh is reportedly scheduling a visit to St. John's on November 6 and 7, according to LeagueReady's Sam Kayser. It is unclear whether Okokoh will attend the Red Storm's matchup against Iona at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, November 8.
The 6-foot-8 forward from Ottawa is the 111th-ranked prospect in his class according to 247Sports' composite rankings and will compete in this year's Overtime Elite season with Bella Vista Prep, who will play as the City Reapers in the league. He flashed his rim protection and inside scoring in the Nike EYBL Scholastic division and the Under Armour Circuit last season, and also made a strong impression at this summer's NBPA Top 100 camp.
Okokoh made only one other visit this year at West Virginia on October 6. His offers include Kansas, Ohio State, USC, Oklahoma State, Missouri, Creighton, Georgia Tech, Cincinnati, and Arizona State.
Earlier this year, Okokoh helped Canada pull off a shocking upset over the United States to win its first-ever FIBA U18 AmeriCup gold medal. He averaged 9.0 points and 5.4 rebounds over five games and recorded a team-high eight boards in the championship final.

The Minnesota Vikings released their initial injury report ahead of their Week 8 game against the Detroit Lions. Although the list of players was short, their potential absences could be significant.
RB Aaron Jones (knee), T Brian O'Neill (knee), and G Joe Huber (knee) all missed Wednesday's practice. Kevin O'Connell said Huber was dealing with knee soreness after Sunday's game, although he made sure to say that he wasn't "overly concerned" about his availability.
Jones and O'Neill have been dealing with lingering knee issues throughout the season. Last week, ESPN's Kevin Seifert reported that Jones specifically has been playing through a sprained MCL this season.
Players who didn't practice for the Lions included WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle), RB Jahmyr Gibbs (shoulder), DL Tyliek Williams (illness), edge rusher Aiden Hutchinson (rest), T Penei Sewell (rest), DL Alim McNeil (rest), and edge rusher DJ Wonnum (rest).

Kings' Darius Acuff Jr.'s bonkers first half includes monster tomahawk throwdown appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Sacramento Kings have hit a slow start to the 2026 NBA season. But NBA Draft find Darius Acuff Jr. is rising as an early highlight. Now he's added a monster tomahawk throwdown to his reel, coming against the New Orleans Pelicans.
Acuff took flight in transition, then put Trey Murphy III on a poster.
The recent Arkansas standout went off in the Big Easy. He posted these final first half numbers inside the Smoothie King Center.
Acuff even hit eight of his first 11 shot attempts. He's emerging as the new fast break weapon coach Doug Christie can lean into. Including in the name of reigniting the glory days that involved Christie.

Bears' Kyle Monangai gets discouraging injury update ahead of Seahawks clash appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Chicago Bears have a challenging **** ignment in Week 8 when they travel to the Pacific Northwest to take on the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks Monday night. The Seahawks are coming off an impressive 20-3 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in which their defense shut down their previously unbeaten opponent.
The Bears would like all of their top weapons to be functioning at a high level in this game because the Seahawks are so strong defensively. They are the top-ranked team in the league in fewest yards allowed at 233.9 per game, and they are second to the Minnesota Vikings in points allowed at 17.9 per game.
As a result, the Bears would like running back Kyle Monangai back in the lineup. He has missed the last three games with a turf toe injury. Monangai did not practice in Thursday's session with both the turf toe injury and a thumb issue listed as the main problem areas.

Being 6-0 helping Vikings' Justin Jefferson put on good face during worst start of career appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
It doesn't take extreme math to figure out the Minnesota Vikings have a Justin Jefferson problem. They need to get him the ball if they want to keep their undefeated run going. But being 6-0 is helping Jefferson put on a good face during the worst start of his career, according to ESPN.
"His 60.4 receiving yards per game through Week 7 is 32% lower than his next-worst start to a season in 2025, when he averaged 88 yards," Kevin Seifert wrote. "His 23 catches are also his lowest total through the first seven weeks of a season in his career. All told, 71 NFL players have more targets than Jefferson (31) this season."
Yikes. ****** o, may I speak to Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell? Has he lost his ability to oversee an actual NFL offense?

This really shouldn't be that surprising. The Tigers have one of the better core groups in baseball now, and while their rotation has question marks due to injury and inexperience, it's certainly a pretty talented group with Framber Valdez as the veteran, and Jackson Jobe, Troy Melton, Keider Montero, River Ryan, and Reese Olson lined up behind the veteran lefty. Obviously they need to build a much better bullpen, but this shouldn't really be that hard. We'll see how hard the front office decides to make it.
The Tigers were 14th in run scoring, and 11th in team wRC+ in 2026, despite getting gutted for a good six weeks by a huge wave of injuries from mid-April through May. Max Clark has only just arrived, while Hao-Yu Lee and Eduardo Valencia broke out with the bats in the second half. They still have plenty of young hitting talent coming behind them as well. They were also 6th best in team ERA and 10th best in team fielding independent pitching (FIP). The defense got better as Clark and other young outfielders were added to the mix. It would really help that cause if John Peck can insert himself into the mix next year.
The Brewers are number one on the power rankings, as you'd expect. The Dodgers and Yankees check in second and third. The Rays, Red Sox, and Braves round out the 4-6 slots, with the Tigers in seventh.
Here is ESPN's argument for the Tigers in 2027.
1. Their plus-71 run differential was fourth in the AL, not that far behind the Rays (plus-86) or Red Sox (plus-78), and that's a positive indicator for the following season.

The Republican Herald's game of the week for Week 10 of the high school football season will take place in Tower City on Friday night at 7 p.m.
The Tri-Valley Bulldogs (6-3, 4-2) will travel to rival Tower City to take on the Vikings (8-1, 5-0), in what is one of the chippier and more intense rivalries within the Schuylkill League.
With both teams locked into their District 11 Class A playoff spots, this Friday's matchup will count merely for bragging rights. No matter the result, both Williams Valley and Tri-Valley are locked into the top two spots of the District 11 power rankings, and will be the only teams that finish above .500 this regular season in Class A.
How they got here
Williams Valley enters Week 10 as winners of seven straight games since a Sept. 5 loss to District 4 and defending Class AA state champion, Southern Columbia. In that seven-game winning streak, the Vikings' offense has been phenomenal, averaging 32.1 points per game while the defense is allowing just 15.4 points per game.

The Big 12 loves its basketball.
According to conference commissioner Brett Yormark, the only better league for the sport is the NBA.
Eight Big 12 teams reached the NCAA Tournament last March, with six winning at least one game in the Big Dance and Arizona reaching the Final Four.
With the start of the 2026-27 regular season quickly approaching, the conference has released its preseason media poll. It will serve as our first installment of this year's Big 12 basketball power rankings, which will be updated weekly upon the start of league play in January.
Here's where media members covering the Big 12, including myself, picked the conference's 16 teams to finish this season.

How do you feel after the Cowboys' pivotal win over the Eagles? For some, it's infused hope back into this season. Others see it as fool's gold: a cheap win against a broken Philly team that says little about Dallas' prospects going forward.
Wherever you fall in the optimism spectrum, the fact remains that the victory kept Dallas in striking distance of the NFC East crown and even a wild card spot. As we near the midway point of 2026, let's take a detailed look at the current NFC standings.

Current 2026 NFC Playoff Standings
