A pair of New York City newlyweds were in the middle of their wedding portraits when their photo shoot suddenly picked up an unexpected guest, Mariska Hargitay, still dressed as Capt. Olivia Benson.
The Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star was filming nearby on October 1 when she spotted the unidentified bride and groom outside the New York County Supreme Court in Manhattan. Hargitay stepped away from the set and ran toward the couple before joining them for several photographs.
Photographer José Pérez captured her approach on video and shared the encounter on Instagram later that day. PEOPLE reported that Hargitay slipped into the portrait session while the couple was still facing the camera, smiling beside them and enthusiastically pointing toward the newlyweds.
Hargitay was wearing Benson's wardrobe while SVU films its upcoming 28th season, giving the couple a wedding photograph with the show's longtime captain less than a week before the series returns to NBC.
Pérez's footage shows Hargitay running up behind the couple while they continue posing, apparently unaware that she is about to enter the frame.

Mariska Hargitay will take the 2026 Emmys stage in a brand-new role: host. The Law & Order: SVU star will emcee the September 14 ceremony after taking home two Emmys for her documentary, My Mom Jayne, at the Creative Arts Emmys.
Over more than two decades, Hargitay has had the support of her loving husband, Peter Hermann. Together, they've started a family and cheered each other on through every endeavor. As she held up her two Emmy trophies for a photo, Hermann stood proudly behind her. "God I love him," Hargitay captioned the photo.
At the end of My Mom Jayne, Hermann pulled off the ultimate surprise by buying the Steinway & Sons grand piano that belonged to Hargitay's late mother, Jayne Mansfield. From how they met to when they got married to their family, here's your guide to Mariska Hargitay and Peter Hermann's relationship.
Their love story begins on Law & Order: SVU. Hargitay has played Olivia Benson since the show's start in 1999. Hermann guest-starred in Season 3 of the NBC procedural as defense attorney Trevor Langan.

For almost three decades, fans of Law & Order: SVU have watched Mariska Hargitay bring Captain Olivia Benson to life. As the show continues to enjoy incredible success and a devoted fan base, Mariska has another special connection to SVU: It's where she met her husband of 22 years, Peter Hermann.
To look back at the 2026 Emmy Awards host and the actor's relationship, we need to start at the beginning. The two met in early 2002 on the set of Law & Order: SVU. The show was in its third season, and Peter was brought on to play a defense attorney in a guest-starring role.
During an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show in January 2022, Mariska revealed she thought Peter was one of the best-looking men she'd ever seen.
"[I thought], 'Who is that Clark Gable, Superman guy that I need to marry today?'' she joked at the time. "I was nervous because I heard he was German and I didn't know what to do."
When Peter's time on SVU ended, he surprised Mariska by asking her on a date to a church service.

According to ESPN, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is the 13th-best fantasy quarterback heading into Week 1 of the 2026 NFL season.
Mahomes is still recovering from his ACL surgery earlier this year and is expected to struggle early in the season. The six-time Pro Bowler has never been a top fantasy quarterback, but after a disappointing finish to his 2025 campaign, Mahomes has something to prove.
For fantasy managers with the two-time MVP in their lineup this week, here are Mahomes predicted stats against the Denver Broncos on 'Monday Night Football'.
On paper, Mahomes should be at a serious disadvantage in Monday's game. Starting offensive lineman Joshua Simmons is out for an undetermined amount of time with a back injury, which leaves Mahomes' blindside in the hands of rookie offensive lineman Khalil Benson. The former Indiana Hoosier went undrafted in 2026 and has now been thrust into the starting lineup to protect a generational quarterback talent.
That being said, I feel good about Mahomes' ability to produce on Monday. With reigning Super Bowl MVP running back Kenneth Walker III in the backfield, head coach Andy Reid can open up the playbook and give Mahomes plenty of opportunities.

However, the 20-year-old can expect to face a challenge from a resurgent McLaren and in particular Lando Norris, who has won the past two grands prix.

When the Arizona Cardinals waived Trey Benson with an injury designation on Monday, Aug. 24, it earned them unwanted admission into a dubious club.
Twenty-eight months after they entered the NFL, 96 of the first 100 picks in the 2024 draft remain on active rosters. Benson, now, is among the four castaways — until and unless he gets scooped up elsewhere.
The three others: Ja'Lynn Polk, a second-round wide receiver who finished his rookie season with 12 catches and missed all of his second season with injuries before retiring; Jermaine Burton, a third-round wide receiver who developed a habit of missing practices and was involved in a domestic dispute; and Terrion Arnold, who currently faces the possibility of life in prison on kidnapping and robbery charges.
That is the company Benson currently holds. But most concerningly, he's not alone. For the Cardinals, this may just be the beginning of a week-long purge of former top draft picks.
In that same 2024 draft, the Cardinals selected cornerback Elijah Jones with the 90th pick. They seem to have five roster locks at cornerback, meaning Jones could be competing with Starling Thomas V for one roster spot. If that's the case, Thomas would seem to have the inside edge, despite a poor preseason. He was a reliable contributor in 2024 — something Jones has never been — and may need more time to return to full strength after a torn ACL last July.

Taylor Swift and her sister-in-law, Kylie Kelce, have a strong bond. Recently, Kylie sat down for a discussion with Leslie Mann on her podcast "Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce." During the interview, the host mentioned that her kids were getting a positive influence from the pop icon.
On the latest episode of "Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce," the host revealed Taylor Swift's new influence on her kids. During the interview, Kylie and her guest, Leslie Mann, discussed the importance of cats in their lives.
The comedian emphasized how one needs to get a feline to make their life better. "I love this so much because I grew up with cats. So I grew up in a cat-dog house, like both at all times," Kylie replied, agreeing with her thoughts.
The podcaster further shared Swift's influence on her four daughters. For the unaware, the "Bad Blood" hitmaker is a proud cat mom to three felines, Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson, and Benjamin ****** on. "Now our kids have influences in their lives. Aunt Taylor is a big one where they get to be around cats," Kylie shared.
The 34-year-old added, "And then we go home, and there are no cats, and they're like, 'But we want cats."

Arizona Cardinals running back Trey Benson's time with the team is done. He was unable to get back on the field and play after suffering a knee injury last season in Week 4. The Cardinals waived him on Monday with an injury designation. If he goes unclaimed, he will revert to injured reserve, where he will remain until he receives an injury settlement.
Benson was drafted by the Cardinals in the third round in 2024. He rushed for 291 yards and a touchdown, averaging 4.8 yards per carry as a rookie and caught six passes for 59 yards.
Last season, entering the season as the No. 2 running back behind James Conner, rushed for 160 yards in four games, averaging 7.3 yards per attempt, and he had 13 receptions for 64 yards.
He went on injured reserve with a knee injury, returned to practice but had a setback and reverted to injured reserve to finish the year. This offseason, he finally began practicing during training camp, had a couple of good practices and then had his knee flare up. He hadn't practiced since.
It is a disappointing end to his Cardinals career.

Over the past two seasons, Marvin Harrison Jr. has been a name that plenty of NFL fans have paid attention to. Naturally so, as the Arizona Cardinals selected him fourth overall in 2024. It is now the dawn of the 2026 season, and Harrison Jr. still hasn't proven why he was picked that high. He's dealt with injuries, which makes it tough to gain traction. Not only that, but he's also had multiple quarterbacks.
Harrison Jr. has shown flashes, but he has struggled to stay consistent. A player with that talent, though, is destined to break out at some point. Over training camp, he has looked fantastic, no matter who is throwing to him. He's finally starting to develop the confidence that he's been missing over the first couple of seasons of his career.
Marvin Harrison Jr. practice highlights for the timeline.

Taylor Swift has officially picked up a new **** le inside the Kelce family, and Kylie Kelce slipped it naturally into a conversation about an increasingly difficult debate at home.
During the Aug. 20 episode of Not Gonna Lie, Kylie was discussing her continued campaign to convince husband Jason Kelce that their family needs a cat when she explained why their daughters keep asking for one. "I grew up in a cat-dog house, like both at all times, and now our kids have influences in their life, Aunt Taylor is a big one where they get to be around cats," she said, according to PEOPLE.
The remark marked the first time Kylie had publicly referred to Swift as "Aunt Taylor" since the singer married Travis Kelce in July. Jason and Kylie's daughters: Wyatt, 6, Elliotte, 5, Bennett, 3, and Finnley 16 months, have spent time around Swift's three cats, giving their mother some unexpected help in the family's long-running pet debate.
That feline influence actually predates the marriage. During Swift's 2025 appearance on New Heights, she revealed that she had already introduced the girls to Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson and Benjamin **** on while attempting to undo one particularly creative warning Jason had given his daughters about cats.
Kylie's cat campaign came up during her conversation with actress Leslie Mann on the Aug. 20 episode of Not Gonna Lie. Kylie explained that growing up with both dogs and cats made having both kinds of pets feel normal to her, while her daughters are now getting their own exposure to cats elsewhere, particularly through Swift.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke with reporters after practice on Thursday at Missouri Western State University. He shared his biggest takeaways from this year's training camp.
"Yeah, I'll tell you, they worked. They worked hard, and I appreciated that. I thought we made progress. I mentioned before, I think it's the young guys that you're really looking at here. We have a number of them, and how they've progressed and continue to progress will be a big part of how this team does," said Reid. So, I appreciate the way they went about their business. You have examples like (Travis) Kelce; he's the oldest guy on the team and came out every day and worked to where you had to yank him out of there to give him a breather. Then Pat (Mahomes) doing what he did with his knee and didn't miss a day, and Chris Jones, (Nick) Bolton, you have leadership like that; that's important. And the guys, I thought, followed right along with them."
The Chiefs veterans were determined throughout the training camp session to be prepared and ready for the start of the new season after a disappointing 2025 campaign. Reid also praised the new rookie class for contributing to the camp's success.
"You could take that rookie class and look at them. They all, I thought, had their day, and they've added some consistency to their game," said Reid. "We always talk about stacking days and improving every day and find one thing you can work on to get better at all those. All the same, I thought they handled that and tried to do that. So, you could take that whole class there, and I'd give them a thumbs up on how they went about their business."
Rookies Cyrus Allen and Kahlil Benson were often mentioned for their standout moments, helping their upward trajectory on the depth chart. The Chiefs return to normal practices at the team facility, and the final two preseason games will help determine the 53-man roster.

Kylie Kelce revealed that her daughters' growing love for cats had sparked an adorable new family wish, and she had Taylor Swift to thank for it. During the Thursday, August 20 episode of her Not Gonna Lie podcast, Kylie discussed her long-standing desire to bring a cat into her household. While chatting with guest Leslie Mann, the mother of four explained that her daughters had plenty of feline influence in their lives.
"I grew up with cats," Kylie explained. She said her childhood home had both cats and dogs. Kylie shares four daughters with Jason Kelce: Wyatt, 6, Elliotte, 5, Bennett, 3, and Finn, 17 months. Her daughters now have another feline influence, thanks to their famous aunt. "Aunt Taylor is a big one where they get to be around cats," Kylie said.
Kylie's daughters' love for cats comes from spending time with Taylor's pets. The singer has three famous cats, Olivia Benson, Meredith Grey, and Benjamin ***** on. Kylie shares how the girls play with Taylor's cats when they visit her. When they return home, they ask for one themselves. Kylie also mentions that the girls pick out cat-related stuff whenever they go shopping.
The girls share a special bond with Taylor. They played a major role in her wedding to Travis Kelce in July. Kylie and Jason's daughters served as flower girls during the couple's Madison Square Garden ceremony. The podcast host also has plenty of praise for Travis as an uncle. Kylie once called him the "absolute best uncle" her daughters could have.
Travis reportedly loves spending time with the girls. Kylie said they keep him busy whenever he visits. The girls make him sit on the floor and ask him to build blocks and complete puzzles with them. Now, Taylor's cats may have given them another idea.

Kansas City Chiefs offensive line coach Andy Heck spoke with reporters after practice on Wednesday at Missouri Western State University. He praised undrafted free agent rookie offensive lineman Kahlil Benson's development at training camp, noting he has quickly become a trusted member of the unit.
"I think you're right. It's a great story, and our scouts did a great job bringing him in. Right away, you could see in our rookie minicamp that he had dominant physical traits," said Heck. "So, we're doing our best to train him at a couple of positions, give him an opportunity to grow, learn our system, learn a couple of positions. He's done a great job; he's working his tail off."
The recent injury to Pro Bowl guard Trey Smith has opened the door for Benson to see more time in his place during the preseason. Heck is using Smith's recovery as an opportunity to see Benson's potential aside from the tackle position.
"Absolutely, the number one benefit is for him, as a tackle primarily, probably his best position, he's a guy that will only add to his value if he can play guard." said Heck, "So, with Trey (Smith) missing some time, that's a great opportunity to give a guy some training for those days that, hey, I may want to (or) need to plug him in there to find our best combination. So, it only benefits him."
Benson wasn't selected in the 2026 NFL Draft but was a member of the Indiana Hoosiers' 2025 CFP National Championship roster. He saw action in 49 games in college, splitting stints at Indiana (2022-2023, 2025) and with the Colorado Buffaloes (2024).

The Arizona Cardinals have two preseason games remaining and less than two weeks to make final roster decisions. At many positions, certain jobs are set. Others have intriguing battles for the back end of the depth chart.
At running back, three spots seem secure — rookie Jeremiyah Love, free agent Tyler Allgeier and veteran James Conner.
Assuming the Cardinals keep a fourth running back, that competition is intriguing. Three guys are battling for one spot.
Edward Hull and newly signed Tre Stewart are probably not likely to be in the mix, so we simply acknowledge them.
The three battling for one spot are Trey Benson, Bam Knight and Corey Kiner.

In case you missed the news, your Georgetown Hoyas secured a commitment from former DePaul big, NJ Benson. A 6-foot-8, 235-pound post-graduate from Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Benson was recently made eligible by federal court order and is forgoing a professional opportunity abroad to play with Ed Cooley and the Hoyas. "Benson" was a name Georgetown fans heard quite often over the past two years with key rebounds and put-backs against GU. He is a physical presence with great conference experience as a forward and center.
Hoyas fans should be excited as adding NJ Benson shows that Cooley can still identify talent and compete in the transfer market. This late-offseason fortification for the roster sends a message that is much louder than a mid-summer press conference. It might be time to start thinking of this roster as "intriguing" or something more.
The news of Benson's addition, reported first by On3.com, materialized from an unexpected set of circumstances. On July 31, U.S. District Judge Charlotte Sweeney in Denver granted a preliminary injunction that allows all Division I athletes who began competing in the 2022-23 season to receive a fifth year of eligibility. The NCAA had planned for a new five-year eligibility model to begin with the fall 2027 enrolling class, but the court ruling undercut this timeline, applying the standard retroactively to the high school class of 2022.
NCAA President Charlie Baker publicly stated that the ruling brings chaos to college sports and rosters across the country, referencing an effort in Congress to provide the NCAA antitrust protection on eligibility issues. A separate ruling in Tennessee applied to 19 specific basketball players, but the Colorado decision cast a much wider net. It meant all Division I players from that cycle gained another year of collegiate action.
For Ed Cooley and his staff, this administrative disruption proved advantageous. Benson opted to return to the college ranks and the Big East conference, utilizing his newly granted fifth year of eligibility to play in Washington, D.C.

This is going to be good. On Tuesday, the New Orleans Saints announced that Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees -- the franchise leader in every major passing stat -- will be inducted into the Saints Ring of Honor. An induction ceremony will be held during halftime of the Saints' Oct. 11 home game with the Minnesota Vikings, which falls during Week 5 of the NFL's regular season schedule. It will be the final game in a three-week homestand for New Orleans.
Brees has already been inducted to the Saints' team Hall of Fame alongside many other fan-favorite players, but their Ring of Honor is a more exclusive club. In addition to the Saints' first franchise quarterback Archie Manning and longtime owner Tom Benson, Brees will be joining his fellow Pro Football Hall of Famers Rickey Jackson, Willie Roaf, Morten Andersen, and Sam Mills. Two of Brees' former teammates, the sorely-missed Will Smith and three-time Pro Football Hall of Fame finalist Jahri Evans, are also members of the Saints' Ring of Honor.
Good for Brees. He's already reached the heights of the sport by earning his place at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, but it's still worth celebrating his achievements. He led the Saints into the winningest era in team history and brought New Orleans its first Super Bowl trophy. That he'll go into the team's Ring of Honor during a game played against the team he beat to reach Super Bowl XLIV in the first place makes it just that much better.

Hall of Famer Drew Brees will enter the Saints' Ring of Honor on Oct. 11 during halftime for the team's game against the Vikings, the team announced Tuesday.
Brees also will receive his Pro Football Hall of Fame Ring of Excellence during the ceremony.
"As we celebrate the 60th season of the New Orleans Saints in 2026, the Ring of Honor represents the very best of our franchise and those whose impact extends throughout the National Football League," Saints owner Gayle Benson said in a statement. "We are thrilled to welcome Drew into this distinguished group in October. His extraordinary accomplishments on the field, his leadership, and his lasting contributions to the New Orleans community make this honor so well deserved. We look forward to celebrating Drew with our fans and honoring the extraordinary legacy he built with the Saints and throughout the New Orleans community."
Brees is the ninth person to join the team's Ring of Honor, following owner Tom Benson (2018), kicker Morten Andersen (2016), offensive guard Jahri Evans (2024), linebacker Rickey Jackson (2013), quarterback Archie Manning (2013), linebacker Sam Mills (2021), offensive tackle William Roaf (2013) and defensive end Will Smith (2019).
Brees spent the last 15 seasons of his playing career with the Saints, shattering all team passing records while breaking numerous NFL records. He led the Saints to their only Super Bowl championship.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's furry friends are reportedly not so friendly yet.

"Taylor and Travis are doing great. Ironically, it's the animals having the hardest time blending their families. The humans figured it out much faster," one source told Shuter. "Every newlywed couple has an adjustment period. Taylor and Travis have already found their rhythm. Now they're just waiting for the four-legged members of the family to catch up."
