Francisco Cerundolo will replace American Tommy Paul on Team World for the 10th edition of the Laver Cup. Paul suffered an elbow injury at the US Open and will not be able to participate. It is the second year in a row Paul was injured at the US Open and had to be replaced.
This will be the fourth straight Laver Cup for the Argentinian, who reached the fourth round of the US Open. He also reached the fourth round of the Australian Open in January, which are career-bests for a Grand Slam for the the 28-year-old.
Cerundolo has a 3-1 record at the Laver Cup, with all the matches being in singles. Last year in San Francisco during Team World's 15-9 win, Cerundolo defeated Holger Rue and lost to Carlos Alcaraz.
"I'm really excited to be back with Team World for my fourth Laver Cup," said Cerundolo. "I have so many great memories from the event. It's a unique experience getting to know your teammates and playing for each other. I'm looking forward to being back with the team in London."

The Los Angeles Rams got stomped 27-7 by the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1 down in Australia. It was an ugly performance from the entire team, but especially from Matthew Stafford. On Friday, ESPN's Dan Orlovsky ripped into the 38-year-old quarterback for his poor play in L.A.'s season opener.
During the latest episode of "Get Up," the former quarterback turned ******* yst called the Rams' loss one of the worst performances he's ever seen from Stafford and the team. There wasn't much Orlovsky was positive about, as he eviscerated nearly every portion of the roster in his rant.
"Rams, total dud," Orlovsky said. "Sluggish. We're not paid to talk about jet lag and travel plans. I have no idea. But I do know this. Matthew Stafford, coming off of the MVP season, one of the worst games that I've seen him in years. A statue in the pocket, terrible decision-making, forcing the football, refusing to move, could not find any rhythm. And this is an offense that should have been completely in sync, given what they've brought back off of last year. And the only part of their offense that played well was the interior offensive line…

On Wednesday evening, the New England Patriots choked a double-digit second-half lead and dropped their first game of the season to the Seattle Seahawks in a rematch of last year's Super Bowl. Quarterback Drake Maye tossed three interceptions in the fourth quarter alone, including a brutal decision on a late third down when New England was in position to at least tie the game with a field goal.
However, it wasn't all bad news on the offensive side of the ball for New England.
"Will Campbell allowed just 1 pressure on 44 pass block snaps last night, a major improvement over the 8 pressures he allowed in the Super Bowl. He's on pace for a leap forward in year 2 now that he's fully healthy," reported NFL Draft Files on X, formerly Twitter.

If the St. Louis Cardinals are going to make a playoff push, it has to start in San Francisco. That's why Monday's game against the Giants was so vital. It didn't start well for Cardinals starter Michael McGreevy as the Giants grabbed an early lead. Cardinals bats would eventually claw their way all the way back by the 9th inning, but it wasn't quite enough to secure a crucial victory.
There are few batters in baseball more on a tear than Rafael Devers of the Giants. After Turner Hill walked to leadoff the bottom of the 1st inning, Devers turned on an 84 mph Michael McGreevy curve and drove it off the huge wall in right for a RBI double and a 1-0 San Francisco lead.
The Giants added to their lead in the bottom of the 3rd inning when Christian Koss reached on an infield single that glanced off of McGreevy's glove and then advanced to second after Michael flipped the ball over Burleson at first. Koss advanced to third on a groundout by Hill and then scored on a sacrifice fly by Bryce Eldredge to double the San Francisco lead to 2-0.
Rafael Devers would kickstart a two-out rally in the bottom of the 5th inning when he smoked another double. Bryce Eldredge followed that with a double that scored Devers giving the Giants a 3-0 lead.
The St. Louis Cardinals didn't get their first hit off of Giants starter Logan Webb until the top of the 3rd inning. They didn't get their first run of the game until the top of the 6th inning, but it was a dramatic one. Alec Burleson gave a 92 mph sinker a bath as he launched it 431 feet into the bay cutting into the San Francisco lead making it 3-1.

The Vols', 56-9, season-opening victory was the fifth game at Neyland Stadium with a kickoff temperature at or above 90 degrees.
The highest kickoff temperature at Neyland Stadium was 91 degrees versus Florida on Sept. 24, 2016.
Other football games with 90-degree temperatures were against ETSU on Sept. 8, 2018, Southern Miss on Sept. 8, 2007 and Wyoming on Sept. 4, 1999.
101,915 were in attendance for the Tennessee-Furman game, marking a 28th consecutive sellout at Neyland Stadium and a streak that dates to Sept. 17, 2022.

"Someone is smoking weed," Sabalenka told the chair umpire during her third-round match against Kamilla Rakhimova at Louis Armstrong Stadium.
Play resumed and Sabalenka won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4.
The interruption follows growing debate over the atmosphere surrounding this year's U.S. Open, where the number of credentialed content creators has doubled from last year.

LAFAYETTE — Faith Christian volleyball was ready for the occasion.
After the Eagles went the distance with South Newton in a 3-2 win on Thursday, Sept. 3, setter Kelsey Olehy was gifted a custom-made volleyball. Stitched below her name and school, the ball read "1,000 ******* ists."
Olehy was only 49 ******* ists short heading into the night, and she got it in the fourth set — a set in which the Eagles rallied from down 18-16 to win 25-18. On the play, the senior tossed a picture-perfect ball in the middle, allowing junior Aubrey ******* to fly in for an emphatic kill.

ATLANTA (AP) — Scottie Scheffler's final act of the season was to sign his winning scorecard. After a few minutes to exhale, his wife and two sons having come into the room, he placed his cap over the fixed camera the PGA Tour now installs in previously private scoring areas. Content is king.
It wasn't quite the level of Brian Harman smirking and shooting the bird at the camera last month in Minnesota, which made Scheffler chuckle and pump his fist. Both were playful moments, and yet Sunday at East Lake shed a little light on Scheffler's incredible staying power.
Scheffler loves what it takes to be the best player in golf, even the tedious work. He just doesn't care for all the noise and notoriety that accompany greatness.
"I have a tendency to keep my head down and kind of stay in my own lane when I'm out there playing," he said during the trophy presentation at the Tour Championship. "It's really fun when you're able to win and celebrate with the fans in moments like these, and have my family here."
Still, his priority is to crush more than to engage. So he added somewhat apologetically, "I feel bad sometimes. I really do keep my head down and try to focus as much as I can. But I really do hear all the cheers, and I'm very thankful for all of them."

One day after somewhat surprisingly leaving him off their initial 53-man roster, the New York Giants are signing veteran wide receiver/return man Braxton Berrios to their practice squad.
With Calvin Austin having suffered a season-ending torn ACL, Berrios figures to be the primary punt returner and part of the primary kickoff return duo with Deonte Banks. Teams can elevate players from the practice squad three times before having to add them to their 53-man rosters, and the Giants figure to do that with Berrios.
The Giants cut the 30-year-old Berrios on Sunday, enabling them to keep second-year tight end Thomas Fidone rather than exposing him to waivers in an effort to get him to the practice squad.
Entering his eighth season, Berrios has averaged 11.3 yards on 100 career punt returns, 24.9 yards on 91 kickoff returns, and has 140 career pass receptions.

The Indianapolis Colts' initial 53-man roster is set, and it came with a pair of surprise additions.
Making the Colts' roster were linebacker Tahj Chambers and defensive tackle Tim Smith -- two players we did not hear a lot about this summer.
Chambers signed with the Colts after the 2026 NFL draft as a UDFA. He played 38 defensive snaps in the preseason, holding up well in the run game, but his impact during the regular season will likely come on special teams.
Smith, meanwhile, was a sixth-round pick by the Colts in 2025. He spent last season on the practice squad, where he was elevated for one game in Week 10, but did not play any snaps.
He finished the preseason with three pressures and eight run stops, according to PFF.

Seattle Seahawks have officially signed former Detroit Lions first-round pick Terrion Arnold after agreeing to terms with the cornerback earlier this month.
Arnold's arrival was confirmed after the Seahawks made the move official on Saturday, giving the former Alabama standout an opportunity to earn a place in the team.

Pakistan head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed has said he and his players were completely unaware of the Pakistan Cricket Board's reported threat to withdraw from the Lord's Test after Sky Sports aired an interview with Imran Khan's sons.

The controversy emerged during the lunch break on the first day of the second Test between England and Pakistan, with reports claiming the PCB had warned the England and Wales Cricket Board that Pakistan could abandon the match and potentially pull out of the remainder of the three-Test tour if the interview was broadcast.

However, Pakistan's players returned to the field after lunch and the Test continued as scheduled.

Asked about the incident after the end of play on Day 2, Sarfaraz said the reported developments had not reached the dressing room and insisted his attention remained on the match.

"I don't know anything. I'm just focusing on the match. You're talking about the interview? We don't know about the interview," Sarfaraz told reporters.

The Pakistan coach was then asked whether there had been any possibility of the players refusing to return for the second session on the opening day.

"All are OK. We were having lunch at that time," he replied.
The interview in question featured Suleiman and Kasim Khan, the sons of former Pakistan captain and prime minister Imran Khan, and was conducted by former England captain and Sky Sports broadcaster Michael Atherton.

During the conversation, the two brothers spoke about their father's treatment and security while he remains in custody. They also questioned the UK government's response to his situation.

A version of the interview was ultimately broadcast, despite the reported concerns raised by the PCB.

In Pakistan, however, viewers did not see the interview. The Test is being shown by state broadcaster PTV using Sky's international feed, but PTV did not air the segment involving Imran Khan's sons.
The episode has unfolded against a politically sensitive backdrop, with PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi also serving as Pakistan's interior minister.

Imran Khan, 73, remains one of the most prominent figures in Pakistan's cricket and political history. He spent 21 years as an international cricketer and led Pakistan to their first World Cup triumph in 1992.

He later entered politics and served as Pakistan's prime minister from 2018 to 2022. Khan has been in prison since 2023 after being convicted in corruption-related cases, charges he has denied.

Despite the reported threat surrounding the Sky Sports interview, Pakistan's participation in the Lord's Test was not disrupted.

England ended the second day in a strong position, moving 261 runs ahead after reaching 81 for 3 in their second innings.

Nottingham Forest boss Oliver Glasner believes Liam Delap has joined the "perfect club" for him following his failed stint at Chelsea.
The Tricky Trees signed the centre-forward on a five-year deal for a club record £50 million transfer fee from the Blues on Thursday. The deal includes an initial £45 million fee plus £5 million in potential add-ons.
The 23-year-old racked up more cards than goal involvements in his only season at Stamford Bridge, receiving nine bookings and a red card while registering three goals and four **** ists in 47 appearances in all competitions.
Despite Delap's disappointing performances, Chelsea could make up to £20 million in profit on the £30 million they paid Ipswich Town for him only a year ago.

Two Texas Christian University football players got into a fight in the team's locker room on Aug. 13, leading to one player being kicked off the team. Now, as more details come to light, the university is cracking down on the exposure that made the fight's details public in the first place.
TCU Athletics has decided to rescind the credentials of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and beat reporter Steven Johnson after the newspaper published details of the locker room fight between safety Jacob Fields and wide receiver Dozie Ezukanma. According to the Star-Telegram, a spokesman for the program stated that Johnson's credentials were yanked after Ezukanma received threats over the incident.
Of note, Ezukanma self-reported the incident online, identifying himself as the victim in a now-deleted video on social media.
"Our primary focus is the health and well-being of our student-athlete," TCU athletic director Mike Buddie said in a statement on Tuesday. "Unfortunately, an unnamed source without first-hand knowledge of the incident provided inaccurate information cited in initial reporting by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, which we strongly disputed."
"The inclusion of the misinformation advanced a narrative that endangered a student-athlete and resulted in threats to him and his family. These actions led to the decision to withhold the media credential until additional conversation can be held between athletics and the sports reporting team. We remain dedicated to restoring our student to health as well as focusing on the game that's ahead."

A report surfaced Tuesday from ESPN's Adam Schefter that former Cleveland Browns tight end Dae'Quan Wright was expected to become the first player to go from an NFL roster back to the collegiate ranks on Wednesday. Wright cleared waivers, per Schefter, and reportedly was poised to reunite with his old Ole Miss head coach, Lane Kiffin, at LSU.
Hours later, the SEC joined other conferences in adopting timely policy to prevent, among other things, a member institution from rostering an athlete who has previously declared for the NFL Draft and didn't appropriately withdraw.
Wright is one of several athletes from the 2022 high school class trying to capitalize on the NCAA's new five-year eligibility model. The age-based system, which eliminates redshirts and waivers, was unanimously approved by the NCAA Division I Cabinet in June but excluded student-athletes who exhausted their eligibility during the 2025-26 academic year, a group that includes many athletes who first enrolled in 2022. Essentially, the NCAA drew a line in the sand, much to the dismay of more than 150 athletes who have filed eligibility lawsuits across 15 different states, according to Yahoo Sports' Ross Dellenger. Put simply, they want in on another season of eligibility like their peers.
Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay was asked about the controversy on Tuesday during training camp, and before the question was done being asked, he blurted out, "Yeah, I can't even comprehend this stuff."
"It's wild. I don't know enough about it other than the fact that guys that can be in NFL camps, if it doesn't go down for them, they can go back to college."

CINCINNATI (AP) — With Joe Burrow, Joe Flacco and the rest of Cincinnati's starters and key backups watching in street clothes, 40-year-old journeyman Josh Johnson led the Bengals to a 27-9 preseason victory over the Chicago Bears on Saturday night.
After directing a 14-play, 67-yard drive against Chicago's starting defense to open the game, Johnson threw a pair of touchdown passes late in the second quarter to give the Bengals (2-0) an 11-point lead and ending his night.
Johnson went 15 of 23 for 156 yards with touchdown passes of 17 yards to rookie wide receiver Colbie Young and 6 to veteran tight end Tanner Hudson, the latter coming with 23 seconds left in the first half.
Chicago quarterback Caleb Williams and the rest of the Bears' starters made their preseason debuts in cameo fashion, playing just the opening series.
Williams was 2 of 5 for 28 yards, with all three incompletions coming after Chicago (1-1) drove into the red zone only to have a holding penalty set up first-and-20 at the Bengals 27.
