Standing on the touchline at just 19 years of age, Conrad Ambursley was getting set to make his senior debut.
"We were 2-1 down, so I just wanted to get us back in the game," Ambursley said a couple of weeks later. "I wanted to try and do what I could to help. That was it really.
"I always get ******* erflies, but it wasn't really any nerves. I was just quite excited to get going."
For the young Englishman, that debut was taking place over 5,000 miles away from his home.
The football pitch was home, though, and has been for as long as he can remember.

Daniel has this natural ability to always finish a combination with his left hand, which is his power punch and his best punch, as well. It's natural. I've felt it. It buzzes you. He seems to get guys.
"That's what I'm going to be looking for in this fight with Uros Medic. He's a finisher, he smells blood, and he gets you out of there very quickly. Three-fight win streak, three knockouts for Uros Medic. If he hurts D-Rod, I expect to see this in the first round. I expect to see him hurt D-Rod. D-Rod's kind of got a history of getting hurt, and then hurting you after. What happens in that exchange? Did Uros do the film study? Is he able to control the emotions of not going for that finish that he's so good at? If D-Rod can find that left hand and change the course of the momentum of this matchup. During a segment involving Joe Henry and Danhuasen dancing and pumping up the crowd, Garcia was in the ring with a guitar playing along. Eventually, Garcia turned in Hendry, blasting him with a guitar, while The Judgment Day's Dominick Mysterio and JD McDonagh delivered a beatdown on Hendry, Danhausen, and the Mini-Hausens.

Former women's basketball coach Amaka Agugua-Hamilton says she has reached a settlement with the University of Virginia after her sudden firing on April 5, a week after leading the Cavaliers to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2000.
Details of the settlement were not made public. Agugua-Hamilton shared a statement about it on her Instagram account after the ****** ociated Press published a story about the settlement.
Agugua-Hamilton and her representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment. A spokesperson for Virginia declined to comment.
USA TODAY Sports previously reported that Agugua-Hamilton — widely known in and outside the program as "Coach Mox" — had been the subject of an internal investigation and there were allegations of staff mistreatment within the program, according to four people with knowledge of the situation.
According to a copy of Agugua-Hamilton's contract obtained by USA TODAY Sports, Virginia owed her a sizable buyout if she was terminated without cause. The contract stipulates that Virginia would have to pay her the remaining amount of her base salary, 80% of supplemental compensation, 80% of royalties and any bonuses earned, but not yet received. According to the figures outlined in her contract — which ran through the 2027-28 season — Agugua-Hamilton would have been owed about $1.3 million.

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — The Savannah Steel lost, 86-74, to the Charlotte Crown, which extended the worst losing streak in franchise history, on Thursday at Enmarket Arena.
Savannah played well in the first half, leading 44-37 at the break. However, in the second half, Charlotte outscored Savannah, 49-30.
Zee Spearman, who played 26 minutes coming off the bench, led the team in scoring with 27 points.
The Steel did not shoot well from behind the 3-point line. They only made two of their 12 attempts.

One player who could make a major impact, however, is Trey Murphy, and the idea of him landing in Golden State was recently floated.

Yorkshire have signed India international spin bowler Kuldeep Yadav for part of this year's One-Day Cup and County Championship.
The 31-year-old will join the White Rose for five One-Day Cup fixtures and will then return for three of the last four County Championship fixtures in September.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles Rams left tackle Alaric Jackson, who was arrested on June 9 on suspicion of felony domestic violence, has the opportunity to avoid criminal charges.
Los Angeles City Attorney's Office spokesman Ivor Pine confirmed in a statement to The ******* ociated Press on Monday that Jackson's case has been ******* igned for a pre-filing diversion available to eligible individuals. The City Attorney Hearing is an alternative to misdemeanor criminal prosecution.
Though charges will not be filed against Jackson at this time, the case remains open and can be re-evaluated if there are more developments.
At the time of the arrest, the Los Angeles Police Department said officers were called to Jackson's home in the West Hills neighborhood of the San Fernando Valley. NBC4 reported that Jackson allegedly attempted to take a phone away from a woman when he thought he was being recorded, and the woman had scratches on her arm.
Jackson has been the Rams' starting left tackle for the past three seasons, starting 45 regular-season games and six playoff games. The former undrafted free agent re-signed with the Rams on a three-year, $57 million deal in February 2025.

NEW DELHI: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have parted ways with long-serving head coach Stephen Fleming, ending a long **** ociation with the former New Zealand captain. TimesofIndia.com has learnt that the franchise is reviewing its cricket operations, with former India batter Hemang Badani emerging as a contender to join the coaching set-up. The franchise's top brass is currently in Dallas, reviewing the last few seasons and planning the road ahead.

While trade discussions are underway, a major decision on the entire coaching staff could also be made. Rupa Gurunath, daughter of N Srinivasan and full-time Director of Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited (CSKCL), has been overseeing key decisions.

"Stephen Fleming has been the heartbeat of our coaching unit for almost the entire journey of this franchise. For nearly two decades, he has helped shape our identity, vision, and pursuit of excellence,” Rupa was quoted in a CSK press release.

As discussions on all cricketing matters continue, former India cricketer Hemang Badani, head coach of Delhi Capitals (DC) for the last two seasons, is in the running to join the CSK set-up. DC finished fifth and sixth under Badani in the 2025 and 2026 seasons, respectively, narrowly missing out on a playoff spot in his first season.

Fleming's **** ociation with CSK spans nearly two decades, first as a player in the inaugural IPL season and then as head coach since 2009. During the franchise's two-year suspension in 2016 and 2017, he coached Rising Pune Supergiant, guiding the team to the 2017 final. Under Fleming, CSK reached 11 finals, 10 in the IPL and one in the Champions League, winning six **** les.

However, the last few years have been disappointing. After narrowly missing the playoffs in 2024, CSK finished 10th and eighth in the next two seasons. In the 20th round of the 2026 MLB Draft, the Milwaukee Brewers drafted Carsten Sabathia III.
He's the son of CC Sabathia, the Hall of Famer who had one hot late-season run with the Brewers during his legendary career that also included Cleveland and the New York Yankees.
The Brewers used their final pick of this year's draft to pay a little homage to CC.
CC's full name was Carsten Charles Sabathia, and so his son follows in those footsteps by going by the Carsten portion of the name.

The Mets continued the churn of the pitching staff, recalling Zach Thornton and optioning Tobias Myers to Triple-A Syracuse.
Thornton will start today in the final game of the first half for the Mets against the Red Sox, which will be Thornton's third MLB start. His first start against the was a little rough; over four and a third innings, Thornton surrendered four hits, including a home run, and walked two, good for four earned runs and a loss. However, his second start was far better, going six strong innings of one run ball, striking out seven while walking one.
If the Mets decide to trade some of their starters at the deadline, and if pitchers like Jonah Tong and Jack Wenninger continue to scuffle, Thornton may be a key piece of the Mets' rotation through the end of 2026.
Myers has recently been a ping pong ball, shuttling between the big league club and Triple-A a number of times. After a great spring training, Myers had a decent start to the season before hitting a tough patch before being sent down at the end of May. Since his initial optioning, things have been ugly for Myers, whose ERA has jumped more than two runs in that time.

On Friday, Minnesota completed a monster four-team LaMelo Ball-centered deal to send the 31-year-old veteran to the Brooklyn Nets.
“The Minnesota Timberwolves today announced the team has acquired guards LaMelo Ball and Josh Green from the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for forward Naz Reid, a 2033 first-round pick, three second-round picks, and three future first-round pick swaps,” the franchise’s press release stated.
“As part of the four-team deal, which includes the Brooklyn Nets and Chicago Bulls, the Timberwolves will receive the draft rights to guard Isaiah Evans from the Nets in exchange for forward Julius Randle and the draft rights to forward Joshua Jefferson.”

The event is expected to draw athletes, families and fans to central Wisconsin, according to a community announcement, as competitors participate in a wide range of divisions and tournaments.
The competition runs July 13-25 at the community center, 6400 Alderson St. in Weston, and will feature preliminary rounds in men's, women's, elder, junior and cadet classes before championship play begins later in the schedule.
Opening ceremonies are planned between morning and afternoon pitching sessions on July 13, offering the public a closer look at the scale and tradition of the sport.
"This is a tremendous opportunity for our community to welcome athletes and visitors from across the world and to showcase Greater Wausau as a place built for sports, outdoor recreation and hospitality," said Tim White, executive director of Visit Wausau. "The opening ceremonies are a great moment for the public to see the scale of this event and the tradition behind competitive horseshoe pitching."

Wetherholt stood at the doorstep of the majors as St. Louis’ highest overall prospect in 2025. His scouting report claimed he’d excel in bat-to-ball contact, yet it’s been his other tools that’ve gotten Cardinals’ fans inspired for the future.
As of July 8, Wetherholt has numerically been the best defender in baseball. On top of a perfect fielding run value score via Baseball Savant, he has a substantial baserunning run value as well, currently at 93 (50 is league average, 100 is perfect).
