We are down to the final two teams in chase for a Massachusetts Little League baseball state championship.
We began the weekend with four teams in the bracket. Now, on Sunday, Aug. 2 Section two winner, Bridgewater will take on Section 3 winner Parkway (West Roxbury/Roslindale) in the championship game of the state tournament at the Holden CRA complex at 459 Main St.
The victor advances to represent team Massachusetts in the Little League New England Regional.
It's a rematch of the teams' first meeting two days ago where Parkway beat Bridgewater 8-2. Bridgewater looks to avenge it's loss on Friday while Parkway attempts to make it a clean sweep.
First pitch is set for 11 a.m. in Holden. Stay right here for live updates before and during game action between Bridgewater and Parkway.

The 47th Pan-Mass Challenge kicked off this weekend, bringing together 6,500 cyclists across Massachusetts for a two-day, 177-mile bike-a-thon to raise money for cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Participants are aiming to raise $79 million, with 100% of every rider-raised dollar going directly to Dana-Farber for the 20th consecutive year.
PMC raised $78 million last year.
Riders began their journey Saturday morning from starting points in Worcester and Wellesley. The event features 14 one-and two-day routes across the state, ranging from 25 to 177 miles.

Massachusetts is on the way to giving doctors the final say on whether an abortion should be allowed late in pregnancy, a move expected to affect few cases but that supporters say is needed because hospitals are now turning away women they should be serving.
The state Senate adopted the measure Friday, sending it to Democratic Gov. Maura Healey, who has signed other laws strengthening abortion rights.
Under current Massachusetts law, abortion is legal for the first 24 weeks of pregnancy. It is allowed after that only if a physician using best medical judgment says it is necessary to preserve the life, physical or mental health of the woman, because of a lethal fetal anomaly or diagnosis or because the fetus wouldn't likely survive outside the uterus.
State Rep. Christine Barber said that under that framework, hospitals turned away some women for abortions late in pregnancy, even in a case where a fetus had a stroke and was determined to be unlikely to survive.
The new law would take out the list of specific reasons and say simply that it would be allowed "based on the professional judgment of the physician."

David and Ina Steiner announced the settlement late on Monday, bringing an end to a case they filed in 2021 in Boston federal court after several former eBay employees were prosecuted for targeting them in a cyber-stalking campaign that involved sending the couple ****** roaches, fly larvae and a ****** Halloween pig mask.
As part of the settlement, eBay agreed to pay $46.15 million to the couple; fund $6 million in charitable contributions to nonprofit organizations; and issue a "strongly-worded" statement about the conduct of three of its top ‌former executives.
"We believe this resolution sends a ⁠clear message that corporations and their executives cannot engage in this type of misconduct without facing significant consequences," Christopher Murphy, the Steiners' attorney, said in a statement.

TORRINGTON - Sara Brewer, Torrington's new athletic director, played three sports while attending the MacDuffie School in Massachusetts, but her No. 1 athletic love was always equestrian.
She took her first horse-riding lesson at age 6, got her first horse at 12 and competed in horse shows along the Eastern Seaboard from New England down to Virginia until she left for college. The then Suffield resident won her circuit championship several times and was even high-point champion in Massachusetts and reserve high-point champion in Connecticut.
"I was successful," Brewer said, "but it wasn't about the ribbons, though I do love blue. It was about the camaraderie. It was about working with this 2,000-pound animal and trying to convince him that he wanted to do what I wanted him to do. It was a lot of fun."
She will bring the lessons learned in the horse ring, along with plenty of others gleaned from years in sports, to the new position she took over July 1 from retired Torrington athletic director Mike McKenna. Certainly, she has already shown a knack for adaptability in 15 years at the high school.
After graduating from MacDuffie, Brewer earned a degree in athletic training from Endicott College in Massachusetts and a teaching certificate from Central Connecticut (and later advanced degrees online from Canisius and the University of New England). Like McKenna before her, she was originally an athletic trainer for Torrington before joining the faculty as an allied health and sports medicine teacher.

A federal appellate panel on Tuesday refused to block President Donald Trump's executive order seeking to restrict mail voting, a day after the administration asked the U.S. Supreme Court to weigh in on the proposal in a separate case.
The three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia upheld a May ruling by U.S. District Court Judge Carl J. Nichols that said an injunction against the order was premature. Nichols ruled that the Democrats and voting rights groups who challenged the order couldn't seek the injunction until the Trump administration issued formal regulations governing it. The administration started releasing those directives days later.
The circuit court panel, with two judges appointed by former Democratic President Barack Obama and one by Trump, found that was proper and there were no noted dissents. But the unsigned decision noted that if the administration truly tried to force such changes in the few months remaining before November's midterm election, it may well get halted by courts.
"The action the Order contemplates would involve the President, whom the Constitution vests with no express authority over the conduct of elections, undertaking a substantial and unfunded overhaul of election procedures — including the implementation of a nationwide reform to Postal Service mail-handling processes —on the threshold of the November election. Put differently, the Order 'may not prove feasible to implement in any manner whatsoever,'" said the ruling, quoting a prior legal opinion.
In a separate case filed by Democratic state officials, a federal judge in Massachusetts last month blocked the executive order from taking effect for this year's elections because it was already forcing states, which are granted the power under the U.S. Constitution to control their own elections, to revise their procedures on the fly. That ruling was upheld on Saturday by a Boston-based appeals court and then was appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday by the Trump administration.

He was the first witness called in the trial of Lindsay Clancy, who faces murder charges in the deaths of the couple's three children in January 2023. Prosecutors argue she acted deliberately, while defense attorneys contend severe mental illness drove her actions.
Patrick described watching his then-wife fall into a "big spiral" after she began taking Seroquel, testifying that she lost weight, became severely depressed and began expressing suicidal thoughts.
"Awful," he said when asked how Lindsay was doing physically after starting the medication. "That was really where her big spiral started. She started to lose a lot of weight, and she became very depressed, and she was having a really hard time."

Mississippi has, to put it mildly, a complicated history when it comes to race relations. Even as times have changed and attitudes have modernized, a number of the all-time best athletes to compete in college sports did so at schools other than the state’s flagship campuses.
From our perspective, however, it has made the task of choosing the 10 greatest college players more fun. On Tuesday, July 21, the Rangers officially unveiled the 6-foot-9 southpaw, along with first round pick and fellow left handed pitcher Gio Rojas and second round pick and shortstop Connor Comeau, during an introductory press conference at the team's facility in Arlington, TX.
"We could not be more excited about the talent and the character of this group right here," Rangers President of Baseball Operations Chris Young said of the trio during the press conference. "We believe that they're going to be the next leaders within our organization (to) help us in our quest towards our next World Series championship."
The Rangers selected ****** ila, who was named both the 2025-26 MaxPreps Male National Athlete of the Year and 2025-26 Gatorade Massachusetts Baseball Player of the Year last month, 89th overall in the third round of the 2026 MLB Draft on July 11. WORCESTER – With some of the world's greatest soccer players playing above them on the big screen, the next generation took the field at Worcester Common during the city's World Cup watch party Tuesday afternoon, July 14.
Well, it wasn't exactly a field as much as a makeshift training ground, complete with drill areas, practice stations and a tiny pitch, as Worcester Common was transformed into the Massachusetts Youth Soccer Festival. The festival has been traveling to watch parties across the state to offer free games and instruction to youth players as a way to tie into the excitement of the World Cup with development of the world's most popular sport in Massachusetts.
"We want to bring awareness to youth soccer across the state," Tamie Endow, a Worcester resident and director of community engagement for Massachusetts Youth Soccer that produced the festival, said. "This summer we are getting out and doing a lot of traveling across the state."
The festival was in Pittsfield June 12 and will be in Leominster July 15 and July 19. Tuesday, July 14, local children were encouraged to participate in games set up by the organization including a small pitch that had been set up on the common.
"Showing up and getting kids together to have fun is the best way. We are so lucky to have such a great community that supports the youth in a way," Natalie Dellecese, a Holden mother who had two children playing on the pitch on Tuesday afternoon, July 14, said. "Soccer is probably the most accessible sport in terms of what you actually need. My boys play in the backyard barefoot with just a ball and making goals out of frisbees."
