Senior Arion Carter returns for his fourth season. He will miss two games due to a NCAA violation suspension for a $427.48 flight, which he repaid, during the NFL pre-draft process.
"Arion Carter represents everything that is right about college athletics, dedicating all four years of his career to the University of Tennessee," Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel said. "His high character, loyalty and leadership within our program are unmatched. Last December, Arion declared for the 2026 NFL Draft. He signed with an agent and accepted a $427.48 flight to begin the pre-draft process. He withdrew from the NFL Draft prior to the deadline due to a medical procedure and decided in his best interest to return to Tennessee for his senior season. Last January in good faith, he disengaged from the agent in terms of the NFL and paid back the flight in full.
"We disagree with the NCAA's ruling on punishing Arion with a multi-game suspension this fall. Arion made the right decision for his future health and well-being. The Italian football icon had begun a course of immunotherapy in August 2025 after having had surgery to remove a pulmonary nodule.

Most tickets to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics cost hundreds of dollars, and the most coveted seats at dozens of high-profile events cost more than $1,000, according to fans who won the opportunity to purchase tickets in LA28 presales.
LA28 organizers have not publicly released a full price catalog, but fans have compiled spreadsheets with a complete list of prices for all 800-plus ticketed events. The Athletic, via screenshots and screen recordings, has independently confirmed many of the prices, which range from $28 (for the least desirable seats at lower-profile events) to $5,519 (for a lower-level seat at the opening ceremony).
The prices, across the board, are by far the highest in Olympic history. In many cases, tickets to LA28 are more than twice as expensive as an equivalent ticket at the 2024 Paris Olympics — whose prices sparked controversy in France.
The L.A. organizing committee's justification is similar to the one that guided FIFA's 2026 World Cup approach. "Pricing is rooted in heavy ****** ytics and extensive market demand research around entertainment and live sports in the U.S.," an LA28 spokesperson told The Athletic. Jul. 30— More than 20 middle school and high school coaches came together this summer for the inaugural Austin Coaches Leadership Retreat, a new professional development opportunity centered on one shared belief — Culture Wins: One Department. One Coaching Community. One Standard.
According to a release from the district, the afternoon was dedicated to strengthening leadership, fostering relationships, and building a unified coaching culture with the intent tol positively impact every student-athlete in Austin Public Schools.
The retreat began with a "Coaching Journey Map" activity, where coaches shared the experiences, mentors, and moments that shaped their coaching careers. Common themes emerged across the coaching spectrum including relationships, trust, accountability, service, and a passion for helping young people grow.
Guest presenters expanded those themes throughout the afternoon. Mental performance expert Melissa Hager challenged coaches to think about developing confident, resilient athletes who are prepared to handle both success and adversity. Coaches also heard from the team at ETS Strength and Performance, who shared the philosophy behind Austin's investment in performance training and highlighted how strength and conditioning supports injury prevention, confidence, discipline, and long-term athletic development.

Regional banks have spent 2026 rebuilding the credibility they lost in 2023, when panicked customers withdrew large sums of money. The Federal Reserve's interest rate cuts have eased the funding costs, and loan growth is picking up again across the Southeast and Mid-South regions. First Horizon Corporation (NYSE:FHN), the Memphis-based lender, which benefits directly from this regional banking recovery, just got a very public nudge from Jim Cramer – the Mad Money host. In the lightning round on July 27, Jim endorsed First Horizon, calling it "a terrific stock, very inexpensive".

In a recent Politico poll, 66 percent of MAGA voters who cast their ballot for President Trump in his last contest for the White House said they would back a GOP candidate even if "a former partner has accused the Republican candidate of ******* ual ******* ault" rather than support the Democratic candidate in a hypothetical congressional race.
Twenty-five percent of the MAGA voters said they would not cast their ballot for either candidate in the same hypothetical race, while 9 percent of the same group said they would cast their ballot for the Democrat.
In a larger group of Republican-leaning respondents, 42 percent said they would cast their ballot for the GOP candidate accused of ******* ual ******* ault, while 11 percent went for the Democrat and 47 percent went for neither.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Representatives from the Trail Blazers met with Portland city councilors on Thursday to discuss a new lease and the commitment of public funds to renovate the aging Moda Center.
The public work session comes amid the contentious negotiations over the $600 million renovation project, part of striking a long-term lease agreement with the Blazers. A current bridge lease expires in 2030.
The state has already pledged $365 million toward the deal, provided Portland contributes $120 million and Multnomah County also provides funds.
New Blazers owner Tom Dundon has previously said in interviews that he would commit to a 20-year lease that would keep the team in Portland if the state, city and county agree to fund the renovation of the Moda Center, the oldest arena in the NBA that hasn't been upgraded.
An early draft term sheet included funding caps and said any cost overruns should be paid for by the team.

A hair sample that underwent forensic testing after being found at the Tucson, Arizona, home of Nancy Guthrie, the missing mother of "Today" show co-host Savannah Guthrie, came back inconclusive and did not point to a suspect, the sheriff overseeing the local investigation told CBS News on Thursday.
"It came back with no results," Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said. The sheriff's department said the results from the hair sample were verified in early June. Thursday was the first time they shared that information publicly.
Nanos noted there was blood and other DNA found at the scene that is also still being ******* yzed, but has so far also yielded no results.
"I know that there was blood at the scene and so that was also part of the processing of the scene," Nanos said.
CBS News previously reported in May that a DNA sample that was sent by sheriff's detectives to a private laboratory in Florida was then forwarded to the FBI's crime lab in Quantico, Virginia. Officials did not confirm, however, any details about that sample or whether it was the hair sample in question.

The Tigers picked up their first commitment in the class on Thursday when four-star quarterback Trace Hawkins announced he will continue his career at Clemson. The Calhoun, Georgia native selected the Tigers over a group of finalists that included LSU, Duke, Virginia Tech and Vanderbilt after building a strong relationship with the coaching staff throughout the recruiting process.
Landing Hawkins gives Clemson an early foundation for the class, with the talented passer becoming the first player to publicly pledge to the Tigers for 2028. Quarterback has been a priority position for the staff, and Hawkins emerged as one of the top prospects on Clemson's board after several visits to campus over the last year.
His first trip came during the 2024 season, and he made multiple return visits this spring. Hawkins attended Clemson's spring game, participated in the program's Elite Day event and later returned for Dabo Swinney's high school camp in June. The Green Bay Packers' third public practice of training camp will be on July 31. There is no public practice on Aug. 1. After that there will be three in a row – Aug. 2-4 − and then none until the Aug. 7 Family Night.
Twelve of this year's 13 free public practices will be at Ray Nitschke Field, on the east side of the Don Hutson Center.
All public training camp practices start at 10:30 a.m., but the time is subject to change and weather conditions.

The Green Bay Packers' third public practice of training camp will be on July 31. There is no public practice on Aug. 1. After that there will be three in a row – Aug. 2-4 − and then none until the Aug. 7 Family Night.
Twelve of this year's 13 free public practices will be at Ray Nitschke Field, on the east side of the Don Hutson Center.
All public training camp practices start at 10:30 a.m., but the time is subject to change and weather conditions.

Some information has been released by the authorities in connection with 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan's recent car accident. More information will not be.
The Palo Alto Police Department will not be releasing bodycam footage, the 911 call, or the accident report, according to Tony Farmer.
Via TMZ, the PAPD said the information is "exempt from disclosure" under the California Public Records Act.
"Nothing will be released related to this accident," a PAPD spokesperson told TMZ.
Which means we'll now be taking a closer look at whether the PAPD's position holds water.

TMZ founder Harvey Levin defended Dr. Anthony Fauci against a right-wing "witch hunt" after congressional Republicans grilled him about private diary entries from the COVID era that were leaked by Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) on Monday.
Opening his nearly five-minute statement saying he rarely uses TMZ to "vent personal feelings," Levin told viewers, "Watching Anthony Fauci before a congressional hearing taking the Fifth Amendment is just one of the most heartbreaking things I have seen in government in my lifetime."
While Levin said he did have problems with the way that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention "handled COVID," he added that he didn't think it was done "maliciously" but out of an abundance of caution.

He went on to call Fauci, who served as the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases from 1984 to 2022 before stepping into the role of chief medical adviser to the president in 2021, an "amazing public servant" for decades, noting how the work he did during the AIDS crisis of the late 80s and early 90s "really saved lives."
