The combined application of six artificial intelligence-enabled levers can cut project costs by 17% to 20% while trimming schedules by 22% to 25%, according to an ***** ysis of a sample, 180,000-square-foot multifamily project by Suffolk Construction and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Suffolk and MIT published a white paper that tags six interrelated construction processes where AI can spur productivity gains.
The study's authors cite improvements in AI models, the tech's ability to sift through mounds of construction data and economic pressures to adopt AI as the driving forces behind the industry's increasing focus on AI.

A stepson and stepdad heading to next month's karate world championships in Italy have said practising the sport together helped them bond.
Oliver, 11, and Ben, 37, are two of seven athletes from the same club, Arena Karate in Hadleigh in Suffolk, who have been selected to represent Great Britain in Carrara.
The pair, who live in Coggeshall, Essex, took up the discipline together five years ago.
"It has given us something to focus on... we compete, train and coach together," explains Ben.

A 16-year-old Norwich City fan who completed a 120-mile (193km) cycling challenge to the club's opening away match of the season at Millwall, said it was a "life-changing experience".
Ranulph Bacon, from Norwich, set off for The Den in south-east London after being challenged to the feat by striker Mo Touré.
He had tagged the striker in an Instagram post, promising to make the journey in aid of Bungay Community Support if he replied. Touré responded within minutes, turning the bike ride into reality.
Ranulph, who completed the ride over three days, has raised nearly £3,000 for the Suffolk-based charity. "It was very intense at times, but I knew I was doing something positive," he said.

Officers responded to a report of a woman who was found "unconscious" on a boat on Aug. 5, 2025. There were attempts to revive her that were unsuccessful, and she was ******* ounced dead when first responders arrived at the scene, the Suffolk County Police previously said.

A man charged with drug offences after police seized cocaine worth more than £2m has appeared in court.
Arminas Sotikovas, 35, of Riverside Road in Ipswich, has been charged with possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply.
Suffolk Police said officers stopped a white van travelling on the eastbound carriageway of the A14, near Stowmarket, on Tuesday when they found the large quantity of cocaine.
Sotikovas appeared at Ipswich Magistrates' Court where he was remanded into custody ahead of his next hearing at Ipswich Crown Court on 3 September.

England will have the chance to add two more gold medals to their haul on the final day of the bowls competition at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on Sunday.
The men's pairs team of Nick Brett and Jamie Walker comfortably came through their semi-final 2-0 against Canada to set up a meeting with Northern Ireland's Adam McKeown and Gary Kelly.
In the women's singles, Katherine Rednall from Suffolk was taken to a tie-break by Shae Wilson of Norfolk Island before winning a nailbiting final end.
Rednall, the daughter of former England international John, will face Ali Merrien of Guernsey at the SEC Centre.

A woman who mistreated cats, guinea pigs and chinchillas that were found living in squalor has been banned from owning all animals, except dogs, for 10 years.
Michelle Ashford, 52, was visited by RSPCA investigators at her Thurlow Court home, in Stowmarket, Suffolk, in October after neighbours raised concerns.
They found injured cats with flies around their enclosure, caged chinchillas inside a cupboard and guinea pigs in crates.
Ashford, now of the Dengie peninsula in Essex, admitted three offences of failing to meet her animals' welfare needs. She was also sentenced to 18 weeks in jail, suspended for a year, was fined £769, and must complete 15 days of rehabilitation activity.
Appearing at Ipswich Magistrates' Court earlier this month, Ashford, who lives in The Marshes in Southminster and still owns three dogs, was also ordered to pay £300 in costs and a £154 victim surcharge.

Recent storms and shifting sands have exposed various World War Two sea defences at sites in Norfolk and Suffolk.
Today, the East Anglian coast is a largely peaceful sight, but from summer 1940 it was a place of frenzied construction.
"It was frantic throughout July, August and September in 1940, as they constructed defences as fast as they could to block an invasion all along the UK coast," said Dave Thurlow, who works at the RSPB reserve north of Sizewell in Suffolk.
Very little had been done to build defences around the United Kingdom until after the British Expeditionary Force was forced to evacuate from the beaches of Dunkirk.

A powerboat race series where a racer died will not return for 2026, a motor boat club has announced.
Brett Duncan, 51, was fatally injured during a race after crashing with a stationary houseboat at Oulton Broad in Suffolk last July.
Lowestoft & Oulton Broad Motor Boat Club (LOBMBC) previously suspended races due to investigations and announced in September the 2025 race season was over.
On Friday, LOBMBC said investigations had concluded, but as it was still waiting for permission for on-water activities to recommence, it had "become clear that there is no realistic prospect of organising a meaningful racing season during 2026".
The club said it had cooperated fully with East Suffolk Council and the Broads Authority (BA) while investigations were completed.

Graeme: Well Gary O'Neil made it clear during his first press conference last week that he is massively impressed by the new look training base at the club, along with the academy set-up.
In the ideal world of his and most supporters, Town would have several academy products competing for regular first team football. However, it's just not the reality of where the club – or most clubs in the Premier League – is at the moment, and in the immediate future, I don't think we will see a lot of change.
Be prepared for more buying and selling, and more members of the youth teams being loaned out. That being said, I think it's a real positive that Town's U21s will compete in he EFL Trophy this season, as this will give youngsters at the club a real taste of senior football.

RIVERHEAD, N.Y. — Rex Heuermann, who will spend the rest of his life in prison after admitting to being the Gilgo Beach serial killer, had a "Dexter"-style kill room in his basement, according to the top prosecutor on the case.
"Very evocative of that, and I think when we realized what it was, you know, that was some of the comments that were made," said Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney, who was personally part of the prosecution team that secured Heuermann's guilty plea. "We were actually able to recreate that, in the basement, in the exact location."
And that's the room where Heuermann's ex-wife now sleeps, according to a new docuseries, "The Gilgo Beach Killer: House of Secrets," where she said so herself.
