Pete Davidson is opening up about being a parent amid the 25th anniversary of his father's death.
The comedian, whose father, New York City firefighter Scott Davidson, died responding to the Sept. 11 attacks, reflected on how becoming a dad himself has changed his perspective.
"I thought, 'Oh, he was an old guy. He's 33,'" Davidson told The New York Post in an interview published on Sept. 8. "But now I'm there, and I have a kid, and that would be like my kid not having her dad."
The "Saturday Night Live" alum, who was 7 when he lost his dad and turns 33 in November, named his 8-month-old daughter, Scottie, after him. Davidson added that while "this year is extra tough," it's also "extra beautiful because I get to spend the day with Scottie. It'll be very healing and special."
The actor shares his daughter with ex-girlfriend Elsie Hewitt. The pair, who broke up shortly after the birth, were in agreement on their daughter's name, Davidson said.

Her real name is Sofia Vershinina. Prosecutors claimed she offered private paid Telegram channels with intimate photos and videos to subscribers. They stated that Vershinina advertised private chats in a public channel. The defendant admitted guilt, expressed regret, and asked the Meshchansky District Court to impose suspended punishment, according to Meduza.
The prosecutors demanded three and a half years in a penal colony, according to Ostorozhno Novosti citing the courtroom.
The court imposed a fine of 4.8 million rubles (about $60,000 or €53,000) on Vershinina, as well as an iPhone 16 Pro Max, Meduza reported. The ruble amount was declared a fine. Shohei Ohtani and his wife, Mamiko Tanaka, announced the birth of their second child on Saturday with a heartfelt post on the Los Angeles Dodgers superstar's Instagram account.
"We are again overjoyed to experience this wonderful day in our lives together," they said in the post, which featured a photograph of the baby wrapped in a blue blanket and wearing an outfit featuring a photo of the couple's beloved dog Decoy.
A second photo showed a baby's feet peeking out from under a blanket.
"Thank you for being born safely," the proud parents wrote. "We would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported us throughout this journey."
