The Bengals' chant originated in 1981, stemming from a popular local car commercial and a beloved beer, Hudepohl. Beer vendors at the team's former stomping grounds, Riverfront Stadium, used to offer the local beer by shouting "Hudy!" to fans. That eventually transitioned to "Who Dey," and it evolved further after fans incorporated the song played in commercials by Red Frazier's Ford of Cincinnati, which goes, "Who's going to give you a better deal than Red Frazier … ******* ody!" The combination of both resulted in the Bengals chant. "Who dey? Who dey? Who dey say is gonna beat the Bengals? … ******* ody!"
Rasmussen also ******* yzes the comparison between the "Who Dey!" chant in Cincinnati and the "Who Dat!" chant in New Orleans that Saints fans do in the Superdome. In fact, he ranked the "Who Dat!" chant No. 5, one spot above the Bengals. Of course, there's an ongoing debate between the two teams of which chant came first.
One of my favorite memories as a Bengals fan was being at the Bengals-Saints game in New Orleans four years ago. There were so many Bengals fans who made the trip for the game. Before kickoff, Saints fans started doing the "Who Dat!" chant. In response, Bengals fans started doing the "Who Dey!" chant. It was dueling chants, making for an awesome pregame environment.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have not gotten a start from Tyler Glasnow in months, but that is slowly changing.
Glasnow went down on the injured list with back spasms, something that was triggered back in May after one inning of work against the Houston Astros.
Since then, he was shut down for a bit, resumed throwing, and then he was shut down once again.
He has experienced a lot of stop-and-start, but over the last two weeks he has finally been cleared to resume throwing and has gotten work in.

Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson's ranking in the NFL Network list of the league's top 100 players caught the eye of head coach Jesse Minter.
Jackson is ranked 69th on the list, which is compiled by a vote of players. Jackson was No. 2 on 2025's list and the two-time MVP’s drop was noticed by plenty of other people as well.
During an appearance on the team's The Lounge podcast, Minter said that he had an "interesting back and forth" with the quarterback about a ranking that he feels is at odds with how things actually look on the field.
"Look, there may not even be one other player in the league better than Lamar, yet alone 68 players in the league better than Lamar," Minter said. "When you have one year where he dealt with a little bit of injury and the team [missed the playoffs], certain players they hold onto that and certain players they give them the benefit of the doubt. This guy is a multi-MVP winner, has transcended the quarterback position. He knows how I feel about him. I guess I don't put too much stock into what the list looks like."
Minter said he doesn't think Jackson puts much stock into the rankings either and suggested the quarterback just focus on being himself because he has "proven over time that the best version is the best player in the league." If he makes the case for that again in 2026, Minter's first season in Baltimore should play out pretty well.

The start of the 2026 Kentucky Wildcats football season is just 44 days away, and a new era begins under coach Will Stein. As we count the days down, we're getting to know the players who make up the team, and today we're taking a look at No. 44, Justin Kattus.
Kattus is one of three brothers, two of which played for the Wildcats. Justin is a 6'1", 216 lb tight end out of Cincinnati. He wasn't highly rated out of high school, but he committed to Kentucky, joining older brother Josh, who is now in the NFL.
As a freshman, he saw a little action before redshirting. Last year, he practiced with the team, and continued to work hard, though he didn't make it onto the field. Heading into this season, he's still behind a few other players on the depth chart, but could find value on special teams.
Kattus, like his older brother, will have no issue working hard to improve his game, and contributing anywhere he's asked. His size limits him somewhat, but there are ways to make an impact, and he'll keep working until he finds them.

But the 2026 Games, which open in Glasgow on Thursday, come at an intriguing time for the event. Many doubted whether they would even happen - and when they do go ahead, they will do so in a stripped-back form.
So how did we get here? And do athletes and fans still care and what could the future hold?

Throughout the Red Sox 15 game winning streak, they leaned heavily on spectacular starting pitching. Unfortunately, they didn’t get that tonight.
Eduardo Rivera was given the opening role for the third time over the course of the winning streak, and this time, the well finally ran dry. He gave up four runs before the national anthem was over and left the mound with over 40 pitches thrown while only recording two outs. He had zero fastball command, which the Orioles quickly figured out, and then sat on his slider to deliver the knockout punch.
Sadly, that’s pretty much the story of game. From there, Kyle Bradish kept the the Sox offense off balance, and there was never a real rally despite the lineup putting the ball in play most of the night.
The bigger story now is the conclusion of the winning streak and what it’s done for the season. In short, its ensured there’s going to be meaning baseball here for August and September (and hopefully October too, but they still have to earn that). It’s also going to remembered as the signature run of this team. They went from dead in the water and other teams circling the ballpark like buzzards waiting to see what they could pick from the carcass at the trade deadline, to in possession of Wild Card spot. Incredible stuff!
Many fans gave the team a standing ovation at the end of the game, and even though their performance tonight squashed what could have been an all time crazy atmosphere, the group that ensured there’s going to be many more crazy atmospheres for the rest of the summer deserved it.

ESPN has said goodbye to former NFL player Ryan Clark and a slew of other notable talent amid mass layoffs.
Clark reportedly learned of his exit while he was on the air, making the news that much more difficult for him to process.
Ryan Clark broke his silence on his departure earlier today with an inspirational post to X, saying that he was "sending prayers" to the others who were affected as he was.
According to PEOPLE, ESPN chairman Jimmy Pitaro informed employees at the famed network of upcoming "difficult decisions" that had to be made as part of company-wide layoffs.
"Over the past several months, we've made significant progress integrating the NFL **** ets that we acquired into ESPN," the memo read. "Throughout this process, we have taken the time to carefully evaluate our collective teams, resources and organizational structure to best position us for the future. As a result, we had to make some difficult decisions about job impacts that we will be communicating today."

Ludvig Åberg’s U.K. fortnight didn’t get off to the best of starts.
Prior to last week’s Genesis Scottish Open, Åberg had to replace his driver shaft and launch monitor after both were damaged on his travel overseas.
Åberg flew from Boston to his native Sweden following the Travelers Championship, though his bags, including his golf bags, didn’t join him for three days. When they finally arrived, Åberg discovered the damage.
“When I pulled it out my driver was snapped in half,” Åberg said during an on-course interview on Tuesday at Royal Birkdale. “My Foresight, the [GC] Quad that I use, was cracked in half.”
Åberg missed the cut last Friday at Renaissance Club and enters this week’s Open Championship without a top-10 finish since his T-4 at the PGA Championship. However, Åberg has been solid in recent majors, currently riding a streak of four straight top-25s in those biggest events since missing back-to-back cuts, at last year’s PGA and U.S. Open.

PHILADELPHIA — It's a bad week to be a baseball in South Philadelphia.
Yes, dear friends, MLB's annual big fly bacchanal is almost here. The 2026 Home Run Derby begins at 8 p.m. ET Monday. This is, reliably, the most whimsical, joy-oriented evening on the baseball calendar. It exists because it is fun. There is a winner but no losers.
That's all true no matter the year, the venue or the entrants. But this upcoming edition, for a multitude of reasons, should be a uniquely scintillating contest.

The Minnesota Vikings would like to get back to the way things were in 2024.
That's the year, of course, that the Vikings posted a 14-3 record and advanced to the playoffs for just the second time in the 2020's. But last year, things didn't go quite as planned for the franchise, as they went just 9-8 and fell short of the postseason. Some of that was due to struggles by young quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who dealt with injuries during the season and underperformed.
Now, they add some veteran competition in the quarterback room and look to get back on track. But what is the ceiling (and floor) for Minnesota in 2026?
Ceiling: 12-5
The talent in Minnesota isn't at an elite level, so don't expect them to contend among the top teams in the NFC. But double-digit wins are a possibility, especially if former Cardinals starter Kyler Murray lives up to expectations or McCarthy develops as originally expected and stays injury-free. This team has two double-digit win seasons and postseason appearances under Kevin O'Connell, and they can get back there again.

It has been quite the offseason for former Notre Dame quarterback Ian Book, as he's laying out a post-playing career.
He was the color commentator during the Blue & Gold game, and by all accounts he was impressive behind the microphone. Book isn't sitting back in this potential career change, as he recently launched a podcast named "The PlayBook: A Rally Podcast." Its main topic is what it's like for Notre Dame athletes to navigate the Name, Image and Likeness era.
Book will also have insiders as guests as well, and the first episode that was released featured former Notre Dame stars Cole Kmet and Julian Love. His second featured the Irish General Manager Mike Martin, who explained the process he has dealing with players and contracts.
The podcast is a fantastic look inside Notre Dame athletics, and it most likely wouldn't stop Book from being in the running for the open radio ***** yst position. This is just me guessing, but after being in the booth for the spring game, it makes perfect sense to add him to the radio booth.

Many of you have been in touch to ask why Alexander Zverev has been seen using his phone multiple times during matches at this year's Wimbledon - despite a ban on players doing so.
The reason is because Zverev is type 1 diabetic, and therefore has a medical exemption from the rule in order to check his glucose levels.
The All England Club has told BBC Sport that Grand Slam tournaments have a list of players that are diabetic, and those players are permitted to use their phones during matches in order to monitor their glucose and inject insulin if needed.
Zverev, who has reached the men's singles final, told BBC Sport he has two phones, one of which contains no SIM card as it is solely used for monitoring his glucose while on court.
It means he can simply read the levels that his glucose monitor is relaying to his phone screen, instead of doing constant finger-prick checks.

Geovany Quenda has had a lengthy lead-in to his move to Chelsea, spending his time at biweekly English lessons and building physical strength to adapt to the demands of the Premier League through additional training and nutritional work.
However, after working to ensure he finished his final season at Sporting strongly, he suffered a broken fifth metatarsal (a bone on the outer edge of the foot) that kept him sidelined for four months. His side finished second and lost the cup final to minnows Torreense.
During that period, he completed much of his rehabilitation at Chelsea's Cobham training ground, where he spoke regularly with then-manager Liam Rosenior and several players, including compatriots Pedro Neto and Dario Essugo.
Quenda also quietly attended matches at Stamford Bridge during this time, while avoiding being seen.
Sources close to Quenda say he is targeting a regular first-team role at Chelsea and hopes to make his senior Portugal debut in the near future.

Viewership for Mexico-England and United States-Belgium from the 2026 FIFA World Cup are on par with NFL conference championship games, highlighting just how strong viewership has been for the tournament.
On Sunday night, Mexico-England averaged 44.84 million viewers on Fox, Peacock, and Telemundo. Preliminary viewership for United States-Belgium, expected to rise when final viewership is out later today, averaged 42 million viewers across those same three platforms.
Fox also released local viewership for Mexico-England. Kansas City led the way with a 13.83 rating and a 40 share. The rating is the percentage of total households in a market watching a game, while the share is the percentage of households watching TV who were tuned into the game. San Francisco also had a strong 13.38 rating and 40 share.

When England completed their extraordinary victory in Mexico City, they reached double figures. It was their 10th win in World Cup knockout games since the 1966 final. A day earlier, a manager reached double figures. France have 10 under Didier Deschamps alone.
There is a case for putting his personal tally at either 13 or 14 – depending on which category games decided on penalty shootouts belong in – when his role as the captain of the 1998 Les Bleus teams is included. France have played in four World Cup finals: two under Deschamps, one skippered by him, one with the remnants of a team he had led from the midfield. He is now a game from the exit or three from the status of the greatest World Cup manager of all.
Maybe Deschamps' reign has been so successful that the same rivals come around again. Thursday's quarter-final in Boston pits France against the side they beat in the last four in 2022, in Morocco. There is the possibility of a second successive final against Argentina, to follow their epic tie in the last 16 in Russia. Or, indeed, England again, the side Deschamps' France beat at this stage four years ago.
