We gave you our updated power rankings for the NBA's Eastern Conference, where LeBron James formed a superteam on the Philadelphia 76ers, where Kawhi Leonard will presumably join the Toronto Raptors, and where Giannis Antetokounmpo changed uniforms, but what kind of operation would we be if we didn't also give you power rankings for the Western Conference?
So, here they are in all their glory. Perfect and inarguable, as always.
We should note: The East is far deeper than the West for the first time in forever, though the West boasts the league's two ******* le favorites, the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs.
The defending champion New York Knicks and LeBron's Sixers, among other teams in the East, may have something to say about it in the end, but the depth and youth of the talent in OKC and San Antonio is impossible to ignore. Those two rosters are in a stratosphere all to themselves.
It would be surprising if any of the top six teams here failed to earn a guaranteed playoff spot. When you are reading this, we will be TWO WEEKS AWAY from the start of the Marquette women's soccer season!
We'll do a lot more season previewing as we get closer to the start of action, but for now, we have to beat the league office to the punch. Last year, we got the preseason Big East awards just a couple of days before the Golden Eagles got going with their season. That means we have to get waaaaaay out in front of the official results of the polling of the league's women's soccer coaches and make some picks for who is going to get honored as the season gets started. My guiding light on these picks is, as always, trying to predict how the coaches will vote. I have my own preferences as to how things should turn out, but at the end of the day, the goal is to try to get these right.
Okay, let's jump right into it, as we've got three individual awards to discuss, as well as a preseason all-conference team and a predicted order of finish for all 11 teams in the Big East!
These things don't have to be complicated: Kohls is the leading returning point scorer in the Big East this season. She had six goals and eight ***** ists last season for the Musketeers for a total of 20 points. Here's the catch: Since the last time the Big East updated the stats for last season was on November 10th, before the NCAA tournament started, Kohls was tied for eighth in total points a year ago and tied for ninth in points per game. She's still the best returning player. Part of that is because there were A LOT of seniors on the All-Big East teams last fall, and another part is because two players in front of Kohls transferred after the season was over. That includes her own teammate, Samantha Erbach, who was the top scorer in the Big East last year with 18 goals and 16 ***** ists, but now she's at Florida State.
I'm going by the points and points per game here, because I value the contribution of ***** ists to offensive production. Sometimes the coaches don't agree with me on that topic, and so I should note that the Big East's top returning goal scorer from last season is Marquette's Jocelyn Leigh, who finished the year with seven. That was tied for eighth in the league in total goals and alone in sixth for goals per game as of the last time the league ran the stat sheet. Marquette was third in the Big East in team goals for as of November 10th with only Georgetown and Xavier in front of them, so there's an argument for Leigh to get the nod here.

When NBC took over the Sunday Night Baseball franchise from ESPN this year, one thing they did differently was put out a schedule for the entire season.
They did retain the right to flex late-season games into that Sunday night time slot, as they do for NFL games, and Wednesday the network announced that the game between the Cubs and Reds at Wrigley Field on Sunday, Aug. 30 has been flexed and will be the featured Sunday Night Baseball game.
That game was originally scheduled for 2:10 p.m. CT at Wrigley Field. Instead it will begin at 6 p.m. CT. As of the time of this post, tickets for that game had not yet been updated in the MLB Ballpark app, but I am sure they will be soon.
The original Sunday Night Baseball scheduled game for Aug. 30 was Astros at Mets. That game will move to 3 p.m. ET and it will still be carried on NBC and Peacock.

After months of waiting, the Philadelphia Eagles took the field Wednesday morning for their first practice of the 2026 training camp, beginning several weeks of preparation, competition and roster evaluation at the Jefferson Health Training Complex.
Practice was scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. after head coach Nick Sirianni spoke with reporters at 9:30. The opening session will provide the first on-field look at Sean Mannion's new offense, Philadelphia's revamped receiving corps and several competitions that will help shape the initial 53-man roster.
Attention will center on Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley and DeVonta Smith as the offense begins installing Mannion's system. An estimated 21.5 million additional adults in the United States may now be eligible for statins under updated cholesterol treatment guidelines, according to a new study.
The researchers aimed to estimate how many adults in the US would be considered eligible for statin therapy under the new 2026 blood cholesterol guidelines issued by the American Heart **** ociation, the American College of Cardiology and nine partnering medical societies, compared with the previous 2018 guidelines.
The **** ysis, published July 20 in the journal JAMA, found that the changes could bring the total number of Americans eligible for statins, medications that lower cholesterol, to about 87.5 million people, or more than half of adults ages 30 to 79.
What prompted this major expansion, and does being eligible mean that someone should immediately begin taking medication? To help us understand the study and what patients should discuss with their healthcare providers, I spoke with CNN wellness expert Dr. Leana Wen. Wen is an emergency physician and clinical **** ociate professor at George Washington University. She previously served as Baltimore's health commissioner.

One of the best French soccer players of all time will lead the country's men's national team moving forward. Zinedine Zidane was named the new head coach of the club Tuesday.
Zidane, 54, signed a four-year deal with the team.
Zidane has a lot to live up to in the role. France has been one of the best performers in recent World Cups. Prior to finishing in fourth place this year, the team finished as runners-up in 2022 and won it all in 2018.
The team's head coach during that span, Didier Deschamps, announced prior to the 2026 World Cup that it would be his last one with the team, paving the way for Zidane to take over.

The lawsuit against actor Malcolm Jamal-Warner's mother should serve as a reminder to everyone to update estate plans and other documents regularly, lawyers say.
On July 20, Tenisha Delilah Warner, "The Cosby Show" star's widow, filed a lawsuit against the actor's mother, Pamela Warner, claiming she's owed more than $1.2 million under a premarital agreement.
The agreement included a $1 million life insurance policy that was never put in place by her late husband, $16,000 tax-free each year on their wedding anniversary, Roth IRA funding for as long as they remained married, and $5,000 monthly for serving as his chief of staff and ****** istant. The actor died in July 2025, and his mother is successor trustee of the Warner Family Trust.
The revocable Warner Family Trust left nothing to the Emmy-nominated actor's widow or his 9-year-old daughter because it was established in 1996 and never updated to reflect his new family, the widow said. The couple met in 2015 and married in 2017, the same year their daughter was born.
The trust leaves 70% of Malcolm-Jamal Warner's ****** ets to his mother, 15% to his late father, Robert Warner Jr., and 15% to his half-sister Collage, according to a legal petition Tenisha Warner filed. "This was not Malcolm's intent," she said.

A cold Diet ***** e—sometimes paired with a shot of espresso—has become one of social media's favorite afternoon rituals. Gen Z even gave it a nickname: the "fridge cigarette." That's why it was so strange when Coca-Cola introduced a new font that eerily resembled an iconic one straight out of the cigarette world.
"Coke and Marlboro had a baby—and it's a font!," one X user wrote after seeing the company's updated typography. Others echoed the comparison, saying Coca-Cola's refreshed typography looked strikingly similar to Marlboros, in a case of reality imitating memes. Still others wondered whether the company had unintentionally leaned into the internet's "fridge cigarette" joke.
"Is Coca Cola rebranding like that because we all started calling 'em fridge cigarettes???," another fan questioned.
Coca-Cola said the refresh was designed to create "one iconic look" across more than 200 markets by updating its packaging and typography.
"This refresh is about being clearer and more consistent in how we show up, wherever people experience our brand," Arnab Roy, president of Coca-Cola Global Category, said in a statement on Monday. "By building on the things people already know and love, we're creating a stronger foundation for growth while staying unmistakably Coca-Cola."

The typical U.S. asking rent rose to $1,965, up 2.2% compared to a year ago, and nearly 2 in 5 rental listings came with a concession attached. A concession is a move-in discount, commonly a free month’s rent, waived fees or free parking. For renters who land a freebie, the real cost of renting can be softer than the asking price suggests. The 2.2% annual rent growth in June is a slight acceleration from the previous month. Yet the increase in concessions-39.7% of rental listings on Zillow offered one in June, up from 35.2% a year ago—softens the blow for renters.
